A/N: Okay, I'm sorry this has taken me so long to get back to, I will admit I got a little stumped in terms of how I was going to continue this, I know how I want it to end but I don't want it to suddenly just happen and I want a build up to it, so I have been plotting out chapters as I go.

Okay, I hope you like this one. :)

Shattered Realms

Chapter 7

The magic that pulsed out through her felt like it was literally burning through her pores, that thousands of biting insects with burning stings had stripped the flesh from her bones as her magic was used to feed the person causing her the pain in the first place.

She could have screamed, she might have, but her hearing by this point had filtered in an out, an echoing ringing noise reverberated through her skull and spots masked her vision until finally a darkness surrounded her.

She was disorientated but the figure that took shape in her mind was distinguishable, she was unsure at first whether she was awake or dreaming but upon seeing familiar chocolate orbs, her body relaxed and she took it as a sign that she must have passed out from the pain.

"I know what's happening now," a husky voice filtered and echoed across the room, they were in a foyer of a large home, with stretched out marble floors, it was empty save for the pair of them and Emma sighed at the sight, it felt familiar and safe, "I've figured it out... these dreams... us connecting... its because of our magic."

"Our magic?" Emma questioned as she looked around at pristine white walls and then back to the figure in front of her, she wore a crisp white shirt and black slacks with usual stiletto heels. Usual? The blonde questioned internally.

"Yes, our magic..." The brunette answered, as she tilted her head sideways and peered at the closely at the blonde, "This would be a lot easier if you remembered but we're stronger together. You can feel it can't you? It's taken me a while to figure out why but I think its because of that. We have to come up with some sort of plan."

"How do I know this is real?" The blonde replied, her eyes hadn't left the other woman's but she could tell within chocolate depths there was a sense... that the words were too real for this whole thing not to be and she had so far seen and heard far stranger things.

"Trust me..." Regina answered, her voice low and husky but firm.

"I do," Emma replied instantly without any hesitation.

"We don't have much time," Regina sighed, "This would be much easier if you remembered," She automatically pressed tanned fingers to her forehead as though she had a headache, but this was a dream, how could she?

"If I knew you, I'd want to remember," Emma said softly, almost unconsciously and she definitely felt a heat rise in her cheeks, dream or not.

"When you remember, you're probably going to regret saying that," Regina said as she removed her hand from her face with a small chuckle.

"Who says I will?" Emma countered completely serious.

"Me, but you will see," Regina smiled at her and Emma literally felt goosebumps rise up her dreamscape arms.

"I don't think I will, you're like that deja vu feeling without the bad juju vibes that sometimes go with it," Emma countered.

"Eloquent as ever, Miss Swan, at least that didn't change," Regina quipped as a small smile pulled at the edges of plump lips.

Emma smiled slightly, her stomach did a little flip flop at being addressed so formally, but it felt familiar and almost personal in its impersonal response.

"That feels right," She mumbled quietly, as she grimaced somewhat at how pathetic she sounded.

"What does?" Regina questioned gently.

"When you talk to me like that..." Emma faltered as she took a breath and continued, "It's like my body remembers even if I don't. You are the only thing that feels real to me right now..." Emma laughed softly, "Which is saying something considering everything that is going on and more importantly because I know I'm dreaming right now..."

The brunette didn't say anything at first, simply stared at the blonde, she smiled softly, opened her mouth to start speaking and she picked her words carefully.

"You've always had such a way with words," She whispered quietly, shifting forward a couple of spaces, she reached out olive fingers and looped them through the end of a blonde curl and sighed softly.

Emma's face crumpled, a fleet of emotions rushed through her, the dominant one screamed internally for not remembering this woman, instinctively she knew the feel of her but she wanted the memories to go along side them and she felt like every part of her being wanted to take root within the brunette beauty.

"What is our deal?" Emma asked timidly.

"Our deal?" Regina replied, her face a mask of confusion and she lifts chocolate orbs to look into green that were inches from her own.

"You know... like... were we like... you know?" The blonde exhaled sharply in frustration.

"No I don't know," Regina answered cautiously, "Could you be more specific?"

"Were we ever a couple?" Emma finally blurted out and after seeing the look of shock on the other woman's face she wished she hadn't of asked.

"No," Regina replied carefully, "We shared Henry, well we started to, I raised him after you gave him up for adoption," She watched Emma's face fall, without thought she lifted a dark hand and rubbed her thumb along the soft planes of the blonde's pale cheek, "I gave you the memories... I gave you my memories of raising him... his first step, his first tooth falling out, his first bike, his first friend..." She caught Emma's chin between her forefinger and thumb as she tried to look away, the wave of denial and hurt that had washed over porcelain features couldn't be denied and the look itself pulled at the brunette's heart strings,"When I gave them to you, I told you that before I did it that I didn't have to make people miserable... that I had a choice and I wanted to make sure you and Henry were happy, even if I wasn't... and I wasn't..." She took a breath and emerald connected with chocolate once more, "I'm not... my life is empty without... him..." Her words faltered slightly, she stopped before she took a step back, she felt uneasy, like she had said far too much and implied far too much.

Emma's chest physically ached at the words that had just washed over her, Regina's words, she watched as the woman's eyes welled and then she reached for the other woman's hand, drawing her closer again, she could see the unspoken thoughts in chocolate depths, "We need to get out of here..." Regina stated quietly as she squeezed pale digits gently between her own fingers.

As she went to respond, she hesitated, her fingers slid from the dark haired woman's grasp and she shook her head somewhat.

"Regina... I don't feel right..." She muttered.

"You must be waking up... hold on, Emma... we are going to get out of here..." Regina answered and Emma felt the words surround her as her eyes fluttered open.

As her surroundings filtered in around her, so did her senses, green eyes flashed angrily down to the roaming hands that were caressed parts of her body without permission, at least a saving grace was that she was clothed, though from the look in the other woman's eye she might as well not be.

The blonde snarled, she tried to move but found, yet again, she is bound by magic at her hands and feet, she darts a look to the appendages in question noting that she is now on the giant four poster bed and in response a growl emerges from the back of her throat.

"You know, this would be a lot more fun and a lot less painful if you just stopped fighting me," A rich voice purred and her response was a pointedly raised chin.

The brunette laughed then as she pushed the end of the blonde's tank top up with boiling fingertips, then pressed down harshly, leaving scorched handprints on her abdomen, Emma screamed unintentionally and in response a wave of magic rushed from her and hurtled Lilith roughly away.

The other woman barely managed to catch herself from colliding with the wall, she levitated for a moment before she lowered herself to stone floor and her face contorted with barely concealed rage.

"This is not good behaviour! My willingness to deal with your insolence is waning... I will end your existence if you continue. It's not admirable to fight, young one, its foolish... you will not win against me and you could be enjoying my favours instead of fighting them!" She growled angrily, she snarled at her, she almost looked like a beast with far too pretty features, "Many would kill to be in your position right now," as if to prove her point she moved closer, climbed back onto the bed, lifted her flowing skirts, straddled a bony waist and pinned the blonde beneath her.

"Then find someone else," Emma replied between gritted teeth.

"You are the first person, other than the face I wear, that has been able to resist me... it makes me curious especially when sometimes I can feel you want to respond to my advances," She bent down, pointedly trailing her tongue over a slightly parted bottom lip, the blonde shivered beneath her, "Like now, for instance, that wasn't even with magic, that was just using this body..." to emphasize her point she traced a path with her own finger down between her cleavage and smiled triumphantly when Emma barely suppressed a moan, "no magic... it's like you desire this body but you are fighting it, why?"

"Because I know you aren't her... it's not real..." Emma whispered quietly mentally willing her body not to respond.

"Even so... your desire is, why does it matter that I'm not her? I look like her, I sound like her... why not just let it happen? Especially when I know you want it to happen..." She nuzzled into the crook of the blonde's neck, chuckling at the sharp intake of breath from the woman below her and the shudder that rolled through her lithe body.

"Because it wouldn't be right..."

"But no one would know... she wouldn't... it's not like she is alive to know any different," The brunette pinned her with a stare and watched as Emma's breath caught in her throat, green eyes grew wary, questioning flickered in their depths and the blonde could tell that the other woman was feeding from the emotions she could feel ripping through the petite body below her.

It can't be true... but what if she is dead? What if in this whole crazy thing the one thing I need... we need is... no... it doesn't explain it... she can't be... but what if?

Lilith waited patiently until one small word broke through parted pink lips quietly,
"What?"

"She's dead," Lilith repeated slowly, enunciating the latter reveling in the sorrow that fluttered to the surface of emerald orbs, "I killed her... it was a shame... she was insolent like you but I didn't need her any more either."

Emma swallowed the lump she felt at the back of her throat, she closed her eyes to will the tears she could feel building, not to fall, she took a deep breath and opened her eyes connecting with sepia orbs,

"If I follow your orders, will you release my son?" Emma asked quietly, almost dejected.

Lilith appeared thoughtful for a moment, as she took in the slightly defeated look that graced pale features, dark fingers traced the tip of the blonde's nose and finally she spoke,

"We will see... if you behave as promised it is negotiable... but you have to prove to me first that you are willing..." She lowered her face down slowly, her breath warm against the blonde's lips for a moment before a voluptuous mouth claimed yielding petite pink.

Emma sucked in a breath at the contact, everything tingled, but it still felt off, wrong... but she mentally chastised her thoughts, before she slowly started to kiss the other woman back.
