Chapter 7: Wrex

Wrex snorted once again as he listened to the damn counselors on the council seat on the Citadel. He was tired of their lollygagging and twisting of truths. He'd been on the council seat since before the drell had been discovered. That had been an interesting time, especially when a krogan spectre had found that it was the hannar's fault that the drell homeworld failed because the damn jellyfish were using the primitive drell's oceans for a breeding ground for an algae that the hannar harvested on their homeworld, but since the algae was now having problems growing on the hannars homeworld they'd gone and infected it on a still growing world and that was illegal. The council had moved in and had tried to help the drell, only to have to remove the entire species from Rakanna and move them to habitable world that the drell could safely live on. That was nearly six or seven hundred years ago and now with the newest arrivals, humans, arriving to the Citadel; the once great warlord turned counselor was tired of the daily comings and goings and now wanted nothing more than a good fight.

Lifting his head from his fist that was against his face he leaned forward when he saw the new human Ambassador step forward. "Counselors it is of great honor-"the man began

'Stuff it!" Wrex bellowed at the slightly overweight human. "Just tell us what you want." He snarled which caused the man to take an involuntary step backwards.

"The System Alliance wishes for you to allow us to begin exploration in the terminus systems." He said with an assured smile.

Wrex heard the turian counselor, Vadok or was it Toruso snort. He couldn't remember the damn turians name. His people and the turians hadn't been friendly since the Krogan Rebellion, which resulted in the salarian species almost going extinct because of a bio-weapon the salarians had been creating for his people. When one of the krogan Warlords got wind of this they'd attacked the Salarian Unions secret world posts and had ensured the stuff was destroyed; however in doing so they'd also ensured that the salarian species would go extinct because of the bio-weapons nature once it'd been released amongst the salarians it had made most of the males sterile and half of the female daltrases were also sterile. It was said that in the next century the salarian's species would be nothing more than a memory. So, because of the weapon being destroyed the turians had no choice but to surrender; which to this day caused hard feelings between the krogans and turians; especially since one of the conditions was that between ages thirteen and eighteen turian boys were sent to Tuchanka for payment of debts between the turian and krogan clans.

Wrex watched the human female behind the ambassador chuckle at the turians response that humans shouldn't go into the terminus because of pirates and slavers and that the counsel couldn't protect them if they went out there.

"Who are you?" he asked as he nodded towards the woman.

Stepping forward she smiled. "I'm Commander Hannah Shepard of the Yuima which is one of the colony ships that'll be going into the terminus after exploration and a new habitable world has been found."

"There are no habitable worlds out there for your species." Wrex snorted at the asari counselor Trevos, who looked at him with a glare.

Oh so she wants to play hard. Wrex thought with a laugh. "The asari lies." He snarled. "There are plenty of worlds where you could possible go, she only lies because the Matriarchs of Thessia wish to retire on those worlds." He smirked as Trevos suddenly snarled slightly before letting her face go back into a poker mode. "For a price, I'll ensure your people get to these worlds and if you need more help clan Urgnot will post some of our best ships and fighters on the ground and take care of any pirates or slave fractions that come towards your new worlds."

"What's the price?" the Ambassador asked clearly knowing that something was going on here.

"For the next ten years any males between the ages thirteen and eighteen must report to Tuchanka to clan Urgnot where they'll be trained in the ways of the krogan and learn true fighting and survival skills." He leaned back in his chair and smiled.

"Why only males?" Commander Shepard asked.

"Shepard," warned the ambassador as he glared out of the side of his eyes at the woman.

"Because females aren't allowed to fight in my culture," he saw the woman's eyes narrow at him and smirked. "However, if you'd like; send a few of your best female fighters with these adolescent males and we'll see if the females of your species is up to these challenges."

"And if they are?" Hannah asked.

"Then you can send the younger ones with the young males," he paused, "but if they fail, the years go from ten to twenty years that this has to occur in order for you pay your debt."

There was a pause of silence before the ambassador looked back at Wrex. "How long is this offer good for?"

"Until you leave the room." Wrex growled, causing the man to take another step back. "You have one more minute to decide."

"Fine," the man said, "It's a deal."

Wrex smirked, intimidation always worked.

Angie-Eyes: Sorry for the long wait on this chapter. Been soooo busy all summer with kids, work, the farm, and fair; I finally have time to myself, if only for a moment. Okay, so tell me what y'all think?
