This is...the hogyouku..
A loud sonic boom was heard and had stirred the sleeping princess from her slumber. She sat up from where she lay and noticed by her surroundings that she was not only in a bed, but a room with an unknown location. The words playing in her head becoming hazy and hard to remember, a fleeting dream at each passing second.
"You woke up rather soon...your reiatsu must have stabilized. The sudden birth of your powers was a lot for your body to handle." A man said as he walked in, his features hidden by the shadows in the room.
"...Who are you...?" Orihime asked, unsure of who this man was or if she should trust him, scanning her surroundings slowly as she asked. There was her bed, a single chair across from her, a dresser towards the corner, and a small lamp stand next to her. There weren't any windows, oddly enough, but she saw a door near the entry way that led to what was either a closet, or a bathroom.
"I forgot to introduce myself." The man said as he sat down in the chair previously mentioned.
"My name is Kugo...Kugo Ginjou." he smirked, the dim lighting in the room producing shadows among his facial features, making his profile appear mysterious, making the poor girl more uneasy and tense than she originally was. "Where am I…?" Orihime questioned the man as she slowly got up back towards the closest door, tensed and ready for anything "….where is Sado?"
"He's in another room, resting just as you are. He was in a worse off condition, but he'll pull through. He's strong." Kugo said as he eased back slightly in the chair. Resting his hands behind his head.
Orihime, not liking his casual demeanor, knowing full well that her friend was extensively hurt from the fight they had for their lives. The very thought of the recent memory sending chills down her spine.
"Take me to him. Right now." Orihime sternly said. Eyes staring into the man's very soul. Kugo just eyed her, and slowly stood up, heading for the door, not once breaking eye contact until he walked past her. Opening the door as he got there. He did nothing but sigh and mutter "women…should have let Jackie watch her…" Orihime not hearing him.
Orihime felt uneasy about the man. She couldn't quite place the feeling or reason why. She felt a faint presence of the monsters that plagued the town inside him. She dismissed the thought and followed behind him, closing the door behind them as she walked out, not losing sight of the man, eyes fixed on him following his every step. 'I hope Sado is okay...' Orihime thought to herself, worried. The fresh image of her friend being injured replaying in her mind. She took in the surrounding scenery, noticing the multiple doors in the corridor they were walking in. Many had nameplates, as if it were a family home. But the hallway was larger than the standard corridors, and the rooms were far and had no numbers on them. The only one that stuck out to her was a girly pink nameplate. It was odd compared to the rest of the standard, plain ones. As she walked by it, she noticed the name on it. "Riruka" she muttered.
'That's a cute name' smiling to herself easing her guard a little.
After a few short seconds of walking, they made their way to a room, almost at the end of the hall. Kugo opened the door slowly, Orihime getting impatient, rolling her eyes at the pace. They entered the room. Kugo first, followed by Hime. There, in the dimly lit room, lay the gentle giant, peacefully sleeping. She slowly walked up to his bedside and gently brushed his hair aside, caressing his face. She noticed all the bandages wrapped around him, his wounds having been treated to the best of their ability, eyes saddened at how hurt he got, just for her. "I'll be in the main room. He'd probably prefer a familiar face to wake up to." Kugo said as he made his way out, closing the door behind him quietly, as if to not disturb his slumber.
Her eyes fixated on his gentle resting face, and her thoughts about her helplessness in protecting the man that she feels so strongly for, she felt sadness and guilt. Wishing she could do something to lessen his injuries. As the thought finished, her hairpins glowed, releasing two fairies that hovered in front of her face.
"You can always call on us. Nothing is impossible with your power, as long as your heart is in the right place." Shun'o said as he pat her head.
"We never got to show you what we can do." Ayame pouted, folding her arms.
"The two of us can heal any that are hurt. Put your heart into us, and we can do anything." Shun'o said, smiling gently at the saddened princess.
"How?" Orihime questioned, a confused look on her face. "I'll do anything to put him at ease."
"That's the spirit!" Ayame exclaimed.
"All you have to do is put your hands forward, and say 'Santen Kesshun!'"
Orihime followed the simple movement and did as she was told, putting her heart into the incantation. The two fairies created an ovular shape along the Mestizo warrior, enveloping him in their light. In a few short seconds, all of his injuries were gone.
"That's incredible!" a bewildered Orihime said shocked and in awe.
"It's not us, it's you. We are your powers manifested. There's nothing you can't do when your heart is in it" Ayame said smiling at the young woman before her.
A gentle rustle from the man in front of her, set her mind at ease once more. Feeling relieved that she could help the man that so desperately protected her from harm.
A few minutes passed, and during the idle time Orihime talked to her fairies and learned about her powers and how to properly manifest them. She learned that she could even combine her fairies traits into a combined power and learned how to counter while defending. It was all in talk, putting it into practice was another thing. "This is a lot to take in…" Orihime said, both hands on her head and shaking it, all in a fun tone. "I need to train more." Orihime said, puffing out her chest and mimicking Sado and his demeanor in the dojo, even going so far as to match his usual stoic expression. Laughing with her fairies, while patiently waiting for her dear friend to wake up.
A few moments later, he did just that. Stirred back to life and looked over to seeing her expression of happiness, almost crying tears of joy at his awakening. As he sat up, she embraced him, exclaiming his name and holding him close. Him doing the same. Thankful that not only is she safe, but out of the dangerous streets that they both passed out in.
"Orihime, where are we?" Sado asked as they finished their embrace. Stretching from the long nap that he had and eyeing the room they were in.
"I'm not sure. All I know is that we're safe from what we were forced to survive in." Orihime said, still shaken by the monsters they both had to fight off.
"Those.…" A man said standing in the door way "were hollows…" clear venom rolling off his tongue at the mention of the word.
"They do nothing but mindlessly eat any and everyone who has reiatsu. That's all that needs to be said about them. They're nothing but mindless beasts that have no place in our world." The man stepped forward, removing his pendant on his neck, releasing his energy and turning into a giant claymore. He stabbed it into the ground and leaned on it slightly, the weight of his being not even moving the presumed heavy object an inch.
"We on the other hand….are full bringers….and I'm here to offer you two to join us…." his steely gaze and stalwart presence staring into their very being
Unsure of how to process the constant flow of recent events, Orihime just stared at the man and his claymore that lay embedded into the ground.
Sado also sending his stoic and steeled gaze at the man that stood before him, slowly rising out of the bed that rested his injured body.
"Who are you….?" Sado asked, a hint of unease leaving his voice. Unsure of whether to trust this man or not.
"Oh, right…I forgot to introduce myself, you were quite the hassle to carry. How much do you even weigh?" Kugo asked, trying to ease the tension in the room. All the giant did was let out a 'mm' sound in response.
Sighing and retracting his claymore back into his necklace with a gentle flicker, the man turned from the door way, back facing the two turning his head slightly and responding "I am Kugo. Kugo Ginjou, and there's a lot I want to talk to you two about, if you're willing to listen." and the man walked out towards the hall, placing his hands in his pockets and walking away.
The young duo exchanged a glance at each other and without a word, followed the man out the door, still tense, but comforted by the respective persons presence beside them.
They soon entered the main room where an elderly man dressed as a butler and a single eye patch was cleaning a glass and staring down at a young, clearly drunk woman holding up a glass, head face down on her arm that was placed on the counter. It appeared that there was a pretty sizeable bar in this even larger main room. There was a pool table and even lounging chairs, as if it was a sort of small club.
"A bar..?" Sado wondered aloud.
"Not at all." Kugo shot back. "more of a hideout."
They made their way to the counter that housed the single person occupying space and sat a few chairs down.
"I think you've had enough to drink Jackie." The elderly man wearing a stoic expression said, barely even paying mind to the woman drinking.
"W-wha…hiccup whaddya mean? I'm doing perfectly fiiiine, gimme another." Jackie said, barely raising her head, not even noticing the guests that were in the room.
"Lift your head Jackie. We have company." the elderly man said, closing his eyes and putting the cleaned glass away.
"Giriko.…you're such a buzz kill…." Jackie said with slurred words. Moving her head to the side and seeing the two new guests in the room along with Ginjou. Jackie then perked up and sat up, clearing her throat and waving at them with a slight hand movement.
"Well aren't you just a looker." Jackie said as she eyed Sado and his muscles. Barely being contained within his shirt.
"Holy crap that rack!" she exclaimed at Orihime, taken aback by her bust. "You sure do know how to pick them, Ginjou." she jabbed at the man, in a sing song tone.
"I will never understand how your personality takes such a 180 from your serious normal demeanor" Ginjou said as he shook his head, a slight sweat drop along his brow from her antics.
"If there's anything you'd like to drink, feel free to ask Giriko, we have pretty much any drink there is." Kugo told the two young teenagers while motioning a thumb to the bar tender.
"I'll have a water." the giant ever stoic said.
"Me too." the princess said almost immediately after.
"You two don't want anything less plain? We have every alcohol there is." Kugo said as he took a swig of his recently acquired drink.
"It's illegal to sell alcohol to minors…" Sado trailed off, used to his age being mistaken for much older due to his features, Orihime in the same boat.
Jackie then spit out the remaining amounts of her drink all over the counter and taken aback by the statement. "Minor?! How old are you two?!"
"We're both 15." Orihime replied for herself and Sado. It was Kugo's turn to be surprised and proceeded to spit out his drink all over the same counter. "What are they feeding you kids now a days…" He said as he wiped the drink from his mouth and tried to maintain his calm and cooled composure.
A few idle chatter passed by and a few drinks were shared between Ginjou and Jackie before they started talking about serious things. It was a nice change of pace and helped relieve a lot of tension that was left inside the two young fighters.
"Come, let's sit in a more comfortable spot. These bar stools start to hurt after a while." Kugo said as he got up and walked toward one of the lounge areas near the center of the room. The princess and the tiger following shortly after. Sitting together and across from the man. Ready to hear about what has transpired.
"As you know," Kugo began without hesitation. "Those things down there were called Hollow. Monsters that feed on any and all living beings that have reiatsu. All the ones that you saw and fought…those were the grunts of the litter." The news shocking the two, eyes slightly getting widened.
"You mean there's more of them, stronger than those?" Orihime quivered. Voice slightly shaking.
"Yes, many times stronger, but very rarely seen, so you have nothing to worry about." Kugo reassured.
"On top of that, both of you had a very easy time dispatching them once your powers manifested. If we put it into proper terms. You're many times stronger than those things, you just can't control your newly discovered abilities."
"What do you remember feeling when they activated? Whatever it was, you need to hold on to that feeling. It'll definitely help in activating it. Before you know it, it'll be second nature for you."
"That's not all I wanted to tell you…" Kugo trailed off. "How much do you know about the world?"
Orihime and Sado looked at the man puzzled. Not understanding, they shook their heads and said they knew nothing.
"It's gonna be a bit of a lecture, but I'll tell you all about Shinigami and Hollow, and where they reside…."
He explained the aspects of Hollow and how they are the souls of the deceased that never got the chance to pass over or purify. He went on to talk about the many ranks of Hollow and where they reside. Even went into detail about the cero, their main form of attack, and how the stronger ones come about.
"They're all savage and greedy for power. Scared of ceasing to exist, they seek their own brethren to evolve and become stronger. A corrupt way to live." He finished. Pausing a bit from his long explanation, making sure to stop and question anything the two asked along the way.
"Now...on to shinigami…." Kugo trailed off again. His two idle companions joining in and sitting a table over from them, listening to the story they heard themselves.
"What do you two know about the substitute shinigami..?" He finished as he pulled out a badge, much like Ichigo's, from the inside of his coat, dangling it in front of him. Eyes angered yet still keeping this stoic expression, gaze unwavering.
The tension in the room grew again, and Orihime and Sado prepared to listen to the mysterious man, and the world of shinigami from his eyes. The conversation sure to change the future…
Full revision. Stuff and stuff, blah blah yay. You won't know where this story is gonna go ;) It's dark though. People are gonna die :)
