"I'm Night Spider." I said to the wide-eyed woman in an alley.
"N-night... who?" She said confused.
"Night Spider." I replied, "I'm working on the name... Anyway... You're fine, right?"
"Y-yeah... thanks to you..." She had a wistful look in her eyes. We stared at each other for a moment untill she suddenly exclaimed: "Oh!"
"What is it!" I began looking around for a second untill she got my attention.
"I never told you my name!" She said.
"Oh, yeah... I guess you didn't. Well, what is it?" I asked holding out my hand.
"My name's Katie." She took my hand and shook it. Wait, Katie?
"OH SHIT!" I screamed in my head.
"What is it?!" Sym asked, startled.
"I know her!" I thought back. It was true, I finally took a real look at Katie. She was a seven-teen year-old girl, wearing a red long sleeve shirt, and skinny jeans. And finally, to round out this FABULOUS outfit, she had on plain blue sneakers.
"This girl?" Sym asked, now confusedly.
"Yes! Katie! She goes to the same school as me! She's like my best friend"
"She is, is she?" her tone was... I'm not sure... Kind of angry.
"Yeah, is something wrong with that?"
"No... no, no, no."
"Well, nice to meet you Katie." I said, pushin Sym to the back of my head.
"You know..." She started, dropping her hand to her side, "You sound a lot like a friend of mine..."
"Oh no. She's onto me..." I whimpered in my head.
"Really?" I asked, trying to keep my voice level. "Who's this friend of yours?"
"He's my best friend! We've known each other for years, actually!" Katie said ecstatically. Well, it's nice to know how fondly she thinks of me.
"Oh yeah!" the mugger shouted, "I can just imagine what the two of you do together!" He started laughing at his own comment.
"I'm sorry, did you hear something?" I mockingly asked Katie.
"What?" asked the bewildered teen.
"I asked if you heard something a moment ago." I repeated. She got it that time.
"Oh..." she started, "No, I didn't hear a thing..."
"Hey!" exclaimed the mugger, "That's not funny!"
"I swear, I'm hearing something." Immature, I know. But, c'mon, he's a mugger, and that 'joke' of his was just in bad taste. "Wait!" I exclaimed, "I know what I'm hearing!"
"You do?" Katie curiously asked.
"I'm glad you asked!" I said turning around to face the mugger. "I'm hearing... THIS!" I quickly shot a web over the mugger's face, specifically his mouth.
"MMM!" the mugger started thrashing around, trying to spit the webs out. Sym sighed in my head, while I chuckled. I heard a sudden THUMP. Startled, I turned back to Katie.
"Hah!ha-ha-ha..." She was laughing at what I did. Not just laughing, she was rolling on the ground laughing. I was feeling pretty good at the moment.
"Alright, I'm gonna go get an officer real quick, all right?" I asker when she finally stood up and calmed down.
"Yup!" She responded, "I'll wait right here." I nodded to her, turning away. I was about to swing away to find a policeman, when I suddenly heard :
"Hey! Hold it right there!" I sighed and turned around. There was a police-officer standing twenty feet away. In his hands his gun, pointed straight at me. At first I was confused, but, after a moment I realized why his gun was pointing at me. A man wearing a paper bag over his head, in an alley. A man stuck to the wall. And a teen girl leaning against a wall. Guess who looks like the villian in this situation?
I raised my hands above my head, slowly stepping forward.
"Hey," I said in a calm voice, "Officer, listen. There's a perfectly reasonable explanation for this."
"Take off the bag. Now." he commanded.
"Well, I'd love to. I really would, but, you see, I've got this facial condition. If I take the bag off here, now, you're all gonna get it." I really hoped this guy was either stupid, or gullible. It turns out he was neither.
"Yeah, right. Mask. Off. Now." I could tell this was going nowhere.
"See ya around Katie." I said, turning to the, once again scared, teen. She nodded to me, and turned to the officer. She said something, I'm not sure what, he turned to her, bewildered. While he was distracted I turned around and shot a web above me, and swung away.
"Hey! Get back here!" I heard the officer shouting behind me. I just kept swinging. After a half hour of swinging in between skyscrapers, I finally reached my house. Well, technically it's not a house, it's an apartment. And it's also not even mine, it belongs to my grandma, but, you know, semantics. Anyway, I landed in an alleyway beside the apartment complex, and took off the paper bag on my head.
I strolled out of the alley. As I walked to the door, I looked up at the apartments. It was a nine story brick building, with a two-door entrance. When I reached the door I opened it and walked through, closing it behind me. I looked around myself at the lobby, there was a single desk, with whom I always thought to be the absolute oldest person on the planet, Mrs. Dolbey, behind it. She had so many wrinkles, even an Iron pressed to her face for ten hours, couldn't help. She was incredibly friendly, as long as you were christian. Yes, she was anti-semitic.
"Reece!" She gasped when she saw me, "I didn't know you were out of the hospital!" She started to get up, but I quickly stopped her.
"Yes, Mrs. Dolbey, I got out early. You don't need to get up on my account." She stayed half standing for a moment, then slowly sat back down.
"Here, I'll call your grandma, let her know you're back." She often spoke for people in these situations.
"No thanks, ma'am, I wanted it to... be a surprise. Well, see you later Mrs. Dolby." I quickly said walking towards the elevator.
As I got in and pressed the fifth-floor button, right before the doors closed I heard Mrs. Dolby say:
"Just so you know Reece, I prayed to God, every day, for you to get better."
I held my moan in until the doors closed. I don't like lying to her about my religion, but she's one of the few people nice to me. I can't afford to lose one of them. Oh, right. Forgot to mention, I'm not christian. I am actually wiccan. Don't know what that is? Look it up!
Finally, the elevator doors opened and I stepped out. I immediately turned to my right and started walking. After twenty long seconds, I reached my apartment. I stood in front of the door for a moment, took a deep breath, and knocked.
Hey, if you have any complaints about the racist lady thing, I'm sorry but I really don't care. It's a story, if you don't like it, then don't read this story. Other than that, please read and review.
