"Don...DON! LISTEN TO ME, EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK, DO YOU HEAR ME?!" Leonardo felt so helpless, all he could do was encourage his brother to keep fighting while he was going into shock right before his eyes.
"We are going to get through this...we,we have to!" Leo was hysterical,as if something had just invaded his mind and replaced it with a much less calmer and collected one.
"Leo...remember, stay calm,we gotta stay focused if Don here is gunna make it." Raph lowered his head in shame. Was I really acting like this? He stopped with the self pity and walked slowly towards Leo.
"L-Leo, we can do this, we gotta. I mean...without this brainiac, how would we all survive? We need him Leo, his family needs him, without him, we ain't a team." Leo calmed down a bit and looked up at his brother with a face that looked as though he depended on him.
"Raph,you-you're right. I-I'm sor-" Suddenly the van came to a halt.
"Eeehhh, guys? I-I dont think we're gunna make it all the way ta Nevada with just my piece of junk..."
"Casey... .Drive...we gotta try! We have to!"
"But Raph...I can't."
"What do you mean Case?! What exactly does that mean?! Tell me, tell me Casey why you can't just try...not even for my lil brother that's on his death bed because of us, TELL ME!"
"R-Raph...I'm outta gas...The next gas station is miles from here. I told you...I-I just can't."
No one really knew how long the silence clung to the air like a thick fog, choking them every few moments. The last words Casey spoke rang in everyone's ears like nails on a chalkboard. Night continued to dwell and the tension grew between the brothers and their friends.
"So...T-This is it...we just let him die." Blue eyes filled with tears, but of helplessness, not sorrow, not grief.
Everyone was shocked. They had never in their lives herd their youngest brother talk so negative before, even if it was expected.
"D-Donnie...I'm gunna miss you b-bro. R-Remember when we were little and w-we used to sneak off from Splinter and the others? We...we used to pretend we were normal humans and...and you used to teach me how to read. Remember? Our favorite book was the little ninja that c-could."
"Mikey...I-Im still here. I-I can s-still be your brother."
The stream in Mikey's eyes increased, "But Donnie...even If you get through this...y-you'll never be the same again. And-and, even if you're okay on the outside... you'll still be sick in the head. Donnie...y-you're going insane. I don't want a brother like that. I-I'm sorry."
"Michelangelo! He is your brother! Why would you say that?!"
"But..."
"No buts Michelangelo, he is your brother, and will always be your brother!...Can't you see that? He is still the Donatello we all know and love and will be that way until the day he dies!"
"But how long do you think that is going to take?!"
"EVERYONE JUST SHUT DA HELL UP!" All eyes in the van focused on Raphael.
"G-Guys,listen...this is no time to argue! While you guys are yellin' at each other about if Don here is gunna make it, he's dyin'! Can't you see that Leo?!
The brothers looked down with shame and regret written on their faces.
"But Raph, how are we going to help Don if we're out of gas?" That was the first time April talked all night, too shocked to speak unless they asked her to.
"W-Well I guess I could check to see if anyone's around. I mean, this place isn't completely deserted."
"Its worth a try Case. But remember, hurry. Don ain't got much time left, we're countin on you."
"Dont worry Raph, I got this...for Don."
Minutes passed, soon it would be an hour gone by before anyone knew it. Everyone head was placed in their hands or they just stared off at the floor or ceiling of the van, they were getting impatient. Suddenly the van's doors were busted open with Jones on the other side.
"Guys, I-I think I found some help!"
