Ugh, I am a horrbile writer! It takes me forever to update and I am so sorry for that I really am! I have no excuse other than a nasty case of writer's block. It's a horrible disease, really it is! But I am back with a new chapter and I am hoping it was worth the TWO MONTH WAIT! Two months? I am so horrible! And embarrassed it took so long! I am sure some of you wanted to ring my neck and I don't blame you! But the finally of Vampire Diaries killed me! It ripped my heart out by taking Damon! Ugh!
Anyways, I'm gonna try and hurry up and answer all the reviews!
Okay, so thank you for the reviews, follows, and favorites! I am happy and appreciate everyone for their opinions! Thank you for reading and loving the story! You're all the best! And each and every follow, review, and favorite is taken to heart!
I do not like Caroline that much either, and Klaus might just bite her ;) You never know how'll he'll like when the gang tries to hurt what's his. And there might be a love triangle but then again, there might not be because I hate wars lol and it's always hard for me to choose. But this is strictly a Klaus/Elena for now...
I love that all of you enjoyed the Klaus and Elena moment but not all their moments will be sweet like that one...
I can say this one thing, Damon or Jeremy or Matt, one of those three will be the next one on the Elena side. That's really all I can say.
THANK YOU ALL FOR FINDING THIS GREAT, GOOD, BRILLIANT, AND ETC. SOME OF YOU HAVE SAID IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST AND IT TOUCHED MY HEART THAT YOU SAID THAT! I AM TRYING MY BEST TO KEEP TO THE CHARACTERS AND THEIR PERSONALITIES! LOVE YOU ALL! THANK YOU SO SO SO SO MUCH!
ANYWAYS I HAVE FINALLY UPDATED!
One day at a time. One day at a time. She repeated the words in her head as she stared at herself in the mirror. She was a mess. Her hair was tangled and messy pulled into a not so perfect bun. Pieces of hair sticking out the up do and pieces had fallen around her face. Her face was clear of any sorts of makeup. She didn't feel the need to wear it today. It always ended up ruined these days. The cut on her face had healed overnight. Bonnie said it must have been the mixture somehow and promised to look it up later on just in case.
Taking a deep breathe, she smoothed out her dress still looking at herself in the mirror. She hadn't gotten much sleep the previous night. Images of Jeremy standing over her kept her up. Every time she would get close to dosing off she's flinch awake as the blade came down. She hated it. Hated how her brother was the cause of her tossing and turning in bed. Hated how she was afraid of her own brother.
Though those nightmares were terrible there was only one that stuck with her when she woke up. She had been sitting in a rocking chair gently rocking a small infant in her arms. She hummed a lullaby to the child with a sweet smile on her lips. The infant's face was hidden from her view but when she pulled the blanket back the baby was gone. When she looked up finding Jeremy was standing in the doorway covered in blood. She shivered remembering the empty look in her brother's eyes. Before she could find out what happened to the baby, though she had an idea, she screamed herself out of sleep.
She quickly wiped away the tears in her eyes not wanting Bonnie to know she had been crying. Her brother would be okay, she told herself. She couldn't allow him to become that person in her nightmares. She just couldn't.

"So you and Vampire Barbie think Klaus has Elena compelled to be okay with her pregnancy?" Damon asked leaning against the desk behind him and looking at his younger brother with a cocked eyebrow. He had come up with crazy scenarios himself trying to believe that Elena was being forced to be okay with the fact she is giving birth to the Devil's child. But after the show Elena put on yesterday he had a feeling she was generally okay with it. That Klaus had nothing to do with her decision. Now his brother and Vampire Barbie were saying he had compelled Elena. He wasn't sure if it was true but a small part of him hoped it was.
"Yes. Honestly do you believe that Elena would be okay with carrying a baby that belongs to Klaus?" Stefan asked. "She hates him, Damon. Why would she be okay this?"
He had thought about that. But knowing Elena she probably seen it has her baby not just Klaus's. Elena was all about the one's she loved, her family. Elena probably saw the baby as family.
"Because she's Elena." Damon shrugged. "She said so herself at the pageant she wanted the baby."
"Yeah, but what if Klaus compelled her to say that." Stefan asked raising an eyebrow at his brother. Damon sighed pushing away from the table. His brother was right there was something fishy about it but it didn't mean Elena was compelled. He could easily find out if she was on vervain or not.
"I'll find out what's going on." Damon demanded before heading towards the door. Looks like he was going to visit a high school today.
Her fingers tapped against her leg as she looked out the window. The buildings and scenery passing by in blurs. Before she left for school she called Matt checking up on her brother. He had told her that Jeremy was back to acting normal. She asked him if he had said anything about the pregnancy to him. Which she knew if he did he wouldn't have said anything decent about it. She knew it would take time. She got lucky with Bonnie. He informed her that they talked about it some last night after Jeremy had woken up. He was upset, that was understandable. She had betrayed them by sleeping with Klaus and worse by getting pregnant by him.
A frown tugged at her lips when she looked down at her phone. She hadn't received a call or so much as a text from Stefan or Caroline. She shook her head. She was the one who betrayed them. She couldn't expect them to reach out to her. She looked at Bonnie from the corner of her eye.
"Have you heard from Caroline this morning?" Elena asked flipping her phone in her hands. Bonnie shook her head before turning into the school parking lot.
"I haven't heard from anyone today. I expected Stefan or Caroline to call me begging for an explanation or a spell." Bonnie said honestly causing Elena to frown before looking down at her hands. Elena knew what she meant when she said spell. They would try to find a way around this or to end it. To protect her in some way.
"You don't think they'd try to hurt the baby behind my back, do you?" She bit down on her lower lip before tightening her grip on her phone. She honestly didn't know what to expect from them. Yes she had betrayed them and hurt them, but they wouldn't try to hurt her child right? They wouldn't purposely hurt her to get back at Klaus? She had thought about that too. Her child's father had many enemies that would want to use that child against him. But her friends wouldn't do that because it was hers to, right? She had told them she wanted the baby. She shook her head looking at Bonnie. She was staring ahead her lips pressed into a fine line as if she was thinking deeply about the question.
"I honestly don't know, Elena." Bonnie whispered before turning to Elena with a determined look. "But I do know that I won't help them, and I'll try my best to protect you both if that ever happened."
"Thank you." Elena breathed feeling thankful to have Bonnie with her. She looked at herself one more time before tucking her phone into her bag. She took a deep breath before placing her hand on the door. Both girls climbed out of the car before heading towards the entrance. She twisted the strap of her bag in her hands as she and Bonnie walked across the parking lot towards the school. She stopped in the middle of the parking lot. It caused Bonnie to turn to look at her and give her a curious look.
"What's up?" She asked taking a step closer to Elena.
"Just nervous I guess. I don't know who is at school today." Elena bit down on her lip looking around the parking lot for her friends' car. She couldn't see Stefan's or Caroline's from where she was but they could have parked around the side.
"Elena, everything is going to be fine, don't worry." Bonnie gave her a reassuring smile before nodding towards the school. "Come on we're going to be late." Elena nodded before she continued to walk beside the witch. She couldn't imagine having to sit in school with her friends giving her that hurt look. Could she even call them her friends anymore? Friends wouldn't have done what she had done. She shouldn't have told them in the heat of her anger. She had been so mad at the moment that she didn't really care how she told them as long as she did tell them.
Pushing the door open, the first thing she noticed was Caroline. The blonde was standing next to the lockers digging through hers. She pulled her books out before she closed her locker. Elena felt her legs starting to shake as she headed in her direction. She had been so bitter with the blonde yesterday. Elena couldn't blame her if she said something nasty to her before walking off. They finally caught the blonde's attention. She turned towards them her eyes looking over Elena before her eyes landed on her stomach. Her hand twitched to move to cover her stomach. Elena offered her a soft smile that surprisingly Caroline returned.
"Hey." Caroline said once they were close to her. Elena gave her a sad smile before shifting on her feet.
"Carolin-" Caroline shook her head cutting her off.
"It's okay, Elena." Elena opened her mouth in surprise as Caroline softly smiled. She reached out placing her hand on Elena's upper arm. "I know I reacted badly yesterday to your- uh- news." Her eyes flickered to Bonnie for a moment before turning back to Elena. "It just took us by surprise and I know you really didn't get the chance to explain everything with all that happened yesterday. And you're right we didn't think when it came to Jeremy becoming the hunter. We all just want the cure so bad we forgot to think and consider your feelings. And I think I should give you a chance to explain. You know, maybe after school or something." Caroline's words came out rushed and nervous. She let out a breath, she didn't need, as if the words had taken her breath.
Elena was taken aback by her words. She expected her to say how bad she had hurt Stefan with her pregnancy or how she had betrayed them in the worse possible way. But for her to say that, it made Elena's heart clench. She felt tears prickling her eyes before she sniffled. She felt awful for the question she had ask Bonnie moments ago.
"That'd be great Caroline. And I really am sorry for how I told you all. I was just so hurt by Jeremy trying to kill me and the way I told you about the baby was just awful." Elena sighed before taking in Caroline's look. She was gaping at Bonnie with wide eyes. As if she was waiting for something. Then it hit her. Yesterday when she had told everyone, Bonnie wasn't present which meant nobody knew that she was the first person to know. Apparently, Bonnie noticed the look to and softly smiled.
"I already knew about her being pregnant. I was actually the first one to know." Bonnie shrugged as Caroline let out a sigh of relief. She placed her hand over her chest.
"Thank god, I did not want to accidently tell you before Elena could. I wasn't sure if she wanted you to know or what!" Caroline said before her eyebrows creased together. "Wait, how long have you known?"
"A couple days." Bonnie answered opening up her locker.
"That's so not fair! Why did she tell you first?" Caroline asked with a slight pout on her lips. Elena let out a soft laugh at her friend. She couldn't be more relieved to see the pout on her friend's lips. Maybe, just maybe she could have both her best friends at her side. She caught sight of somebody from the corner of her eye. Damon? She turned her attention towards him. She creased her eyebrows in confusion until he nodded for her to follow. Elena stepped away from her friends before looking back at them.
"Hey I really have to use the bathroom. I'll see you two at lunch." She stammered before quickly turning on her heel and hurrying after the Salvatore. She opened the door of the classroom rushing in before anyone saw her. She shifted the bag on her shoulder as she walked closer to Damon. "Hey what are you doing here?" She jumped when he grabbed her shoulders pinning her between the desk and his body. "What are you doing?" She asked furiously looking up at his face to see his eyes dilated.
"Don't move." She stood there staring at him before shoving him backwards.
"What the- are you trying to compel me?" She asked narrowing her eyes slightly at him. She could not believe he was trying to do that. She felt slightly hurt by his actions.
"You're on vervain." It was more of a comment than a question. Without thinking about it, she reached up and touched the necklace hidden under her dress. So he was telling the truth when he said it had vervain in it.
"Yeah I'm on vervain, why?" She asked crossing her arms over her chest. She raised her eyebrow waiting for him explain why he wanted to know something like that.
"Just curious." He shrugged casually only making her narrow her eyes in suspicion. She opened her mouth to get the truth from him but the bell sounded cutting off the words on her tongue. He gave her a smirk before ushering her towards the door. "You should get going, Elena. Don't want to be late for class." She quickly turned towards him pointing her finger at him.
"This isn't over." She demanded before turning on her heel and rushing to class. Once she entered the classroom she hurried up and got into her seat. Pulling her notebook and textbook out, she sat them on her desk. She placed her chin in her palm laying her elbow down on the desk.
At least he's talking to me. Elena thought her eyes on the teacher in front of them but her mind on the events that just happened. Why would Damon want to know I was on vervain all of a sudden? She had a feeling there was something behind it besides Damon making sure she was okay against being compelled. Shaking her head, she tried to focus her attention on the lecture. She couldn't keep her mind on things like that. Maybe he was worried? Stop it Elena. She sighed, her eyes drifting off to the window.
There was a little hope inside of her that all her friends would learn to accept the baby in her life. It still hadn't died out even with everything that happened yesterday. Maybe at some point they'll actually be happy for her. Earlier Caroline had giving her a chance for her to be able to explain. Elena wanted to spend time with her and maybe get her on her and Bonnie's side. Though she knew it was going to be hard but she had hope. As long as she had hope she wouldn't accept not having her friends by her side.

.
By the end of the day, Elena was thankful when the final bell rang. She gathered her books from her desk as students literally ran from the classroom. She stood up holding the books to her chest as she headed for her locker. The day has drug on all day. It had been a slow day. She was kind of thankful for it because she wouldn't have to deal with Klaus so soon. But then again she hated sitting through the lectures when her mind was in a million different places. What she was going to say to Caroline. What she would have to talk to Klaus about. How she was going to get her brother to stop trying to kill her and her baby. And so on. With those on her mind, algebra didn't seem that important.
The only time she got those off her mind was at lunch when she sat outside talking to her friends. Caroline had offered they have a girls night at the Salvatores tonight while they were away in New Orleans. Elena tried to question her about why they were heading there but Caroline shrugged saying something about hunter business. The subject of them being dropped after that. Once again Elena was thankful; she didn't bring up either Salvatores other than that. Her and Bonnie both agreed to the girl's night. Knowing it would be good time to talk about everything. And to have a night like old times.
She stopped in front of her locker shoving her textbook inside before heading towards the parking lot. She smiled at Bonnie who was waiting for her next to the exit. But the witch's attention was on something outside. And Elena knew exactly what it was. Klaus. Bonnie finally turned her attention away from the hybrid to raise an eyebrow at her friend.
"You do know Klaus is here right?" Bonnie asked throwing a nod in the direction he was in. Elena nodded letting a sigh escape her lips. She had forgotten to mention that he was picking her up today to Bonnie. Not like she was trying to hide it or anything, she just forgot.
"I forgot to tell you he was picking me up from school." Elena told her looking out the small door window. There he was leaning against the front of his SUV. He was throwing charming smiles to girls as they passed him. Some blushing before giggling. Elena wondered if they only knew who the guy smiling at them was. She rolled her eyes turning back to her friend.
"Oh, but you're still coming tonight right?" Bonnie asked raising her eyebrow.
"Of course, I'll have him drop me off. He just wants us to talk about the baby or whatever." Elena shrugged placing her hand on the door. She slowly pushed it open allowing Bonnie to walk out first.
"Yeah you have fun with that. I'll see you later." Bonnie told her before heading in the opposite direction of the hybrid. Elena watched her walk off before letting out a deep breath. She slowly turned toward Klaus seeing his attention was now on her. She rolled her eyes at the smirk on his lips. Tugging the bag on her shoulder, she headed in his direction.
"I was hoping you'd forget." She suggested as he opened the car door for her. She felt eyes on her causing her to slightly duck her head. She could only imagine what girls at this school said about her. She was always with a different guy these days. She just couldn't wait when the pregnancy rumors began. Which she was sure would start when she started to show. But then again if she really was pregnant than they wouldn't really be rumors, now would they? She could only imagine the bets going on who the father was. High school was about to become more drama than the supernatural. If that was possible.
"How could I forget my favorite doppelganger?" He asked the smirk still on his lips. She climbed inside pulling her bag into her lap before turning towards him.
"A girl can dream." She stated sarcastically earning her a light chuckle from Klaus. He closed the door before walking around, human speed she noted. She pulled on her seatbelt as he climbed inside. She curled her hands into the fabric of her dress as they pulled out of the parking lot. She had no idea how to start this conversation. Deciding to ask the most obvious question would be a good start. "So where are we going?"
"I thought we'd go to the place where this all began." He smirked turning on to the road that headed out of town. Elena had to bite down the lump in her throat. He meant his house. She shifted in her seat turning slightly away from him. Last time she was there with him she had told him about the pregnancy. The time before that, she got pregnant. A sigh escaped her lips before she sunk down slightly in her seat. They could have gone anywhere else. But then again, somebody would easily interrupt their talk. So it was the perfect place because everyone tried to avoid Klaus as much as possible. And his house would be at the top of the "places Klaus would be" list. "Oh come on love, no reason to be nervous."
"I'm not nervous." She mumbled before sitting up and turning her attention to him. "Why would I be nervous? I have no reason to be nervous." And she didn't. He wouldn't hurt her or kill her. To be honest he was probably one of the main people she trusted with her life. Even if he was her enemy.
"You're muscles say otherwise." He chuckled pulling into his driveway. She shook her head before crossing her arms over her chest.
"Well I'm not. I'm just ready to get this over with." She shrugged slightly jolting forward when he stopped and threw the car in park. She rolled her eyes when he shook his head laughing under his breath at her. As she reached for the handle of the door it was pulled open. She looked up to see Klaus already out the car. She would never get used to that speed. Stepping out, Elena smoothed out her dress looking up at the door. The car door shut behind her before she took a step forward.
"Is anyone home?" Elena asked following him up to the door. She hadn't seen Rebekah in a couple days since the party at her house. She hadn't been at school or the pageant. Which was a surprise, she expected Rebekah to at least try to compel her way into the pageant.
"I assure you, love, we are the only ones here." He told her opening the door and allowing her to walk through first. She nodded her head walking inside before stopping. She shifted uncomfortably as she waited for him to tell her where to go.
"Where do you want to do this?" She asked looking over her shoulder at him. She rolled her eyes when he cocked his eyebrow at her. "I mean where do you want to talk at."
"You can go sit in there. I'll be right with you." He told her gesturing towards the sitting area where she had given him her blood. She nodded not asking him where he was going. As she walked towards the room, she heard him leaving in the other direction. Didn't his hybrid army usually hang around his house? Had he made them leave so he could be completely alone with her? Maybe he doesn't want them to know about the baby. She told herself sitting down in the exact spot she sat in last time. She placed her bag beside her before placing her hands together in her lap.
She couldn't stop herself from checking the time on her phone. It had been a long slow day but she just hoped this flew by.
"Need to be somewhere?" She quickly looked up from her phone to find the hybrid coming into the room.
"Oh not really. I just told Bonnie and Caroline-" She tucked the phone back into her bag before shaking her head. Why did she almost tell him that? She had been doing that a lot lately with him. Being honest to him. "I don't know why I feel the need to tell you things." She mumbled shifting on the seat as he took a seat in the chair in front of her. She exhaled through her nose looking around the room before her eyes landed on him.
He looked comfortable with her right now. Usually he was always on his toes watching his back for the next threat. But in that moment, he looked like he didn't have to worry about her. Of course, she was just a human and couldn't hurt him in the slightly way but it didn't stop herself from questioning it. Did he in some strange way actually trust her? Did she trust him? No. She knew he always had a plan or motive. She did however trust him with her life. She had proved that when Jeremy had tried to kill her. She had called him knowing he wouldn't allow anyone to physically hurt her. Though, she would never tell him that for many more reasons than just one.
Her and Klaus were not friends. They were enemies. They both have tried to kill the other on many occasions. Both hated each other. But she's starting to forget that lately. Like the night before on the porch, she had forgotten how much she hated him and had actually been happy when she said he couldn't have his child dying. She felt something she was not supposed to be feeling when it came to him.
She hadn't realized she had been staring until he spoke bringing her out of her thoughts.
"How long do you plan on staying with the Bennett witch?"
"Until Jeremy stops wanting to kill the baby." She told him her hand shifting to her stomach. His eyes followed her movement. She tilted her head examining the softness of his eyes before they hardened. She tried to keep the sigh from escaping her lips. It was a rare moment he let down his guard when it came down to his emotions. He quickly stood up and walked over to the liquor.
"And if the boy never stops?" He asked his back turned towards her. She frowned looking down at her hand. He'd stop. Right? Jeremy couldn't be like this forever could he? But what if he was? What if there wasn't a day that passed where Jeremy didn't want to kill her and Klaus's baby? She wouldn't know what to do. Having to run and hide from her own brother. Hide her baby from the child's own uncle. She couldn't accept that. She couldn't. Jeremy was the only true family she had left. Other than the child inside her.
"I-I honestly don't know what'd I do." She whispered her finger flexing over her stomach. She bit down on her lip trying to stop herself from crying in front of him. "What if he actually does succeed?" She asked herself out loud. What if Jeremy did find a way to kill the baby? Before or after she's given birth to the baby. How would she be able to cope with having her brother kill her own child?
"I will not allow that to happen." Her attention shot up towards the hybrid. He was now looking at her. A crystal glass in his hand. "I already told you Elena. I cannot have my child dying." Our. She corrected inside her head. "Which brings me back to the earlier question." Elena's eyebrows creased together as she watched him take his seat back in the chair in front of her. "I think you'd be much safer living here." He told her gesturing around the room with his free hand. He wanted her to live with him? She shook her head opening her mouth to reply but quickly closed it. She couldn't live with him. They were enemies!
"You want me to live here?" She asked making sure she did in fact hear him right. She lifted her finger pointing at him. "With you?"
"Yes that way I can protect you and the child from harm." He said looking down at the glass in his hand. He looked up at her from the corner of his eye looking over her face. She was sure he could read the shock and confusion written all over it. She shook her head trying to gather her thoughts.
"No… We can't live together. That'd be weird. And wrong." She demanded finding it hard to find the right words.
"Yes, I know. Because we are mortal enemies." He snorted when she nodded in agreement. "But then again, love, we are having a child together. We will be around each other quite a lot."
"Yeah but we don't have to live together." She argued watching him roll his eyes at her. He could not be serious. She just knew he was joking with her in the usual 'embarrass the doppelganger' way.
"Do tell me Elena who is going to protect you from an enemy who wants to kill the Original Hybrid's child? The witch without her powers?" He mocked causing Elena to slightly narrow her eyes. She followed his movement as he stood up to walk around the table. "Ah yes, the Salvatores, the vampires who you ripped out their hearts by sleeping with a man who wasn't a Salvatore?"
"Stop" She hissed through clenched teeth glaring up at the man. But he didn't stop.
"Or Caroline, the vampire who believes you betrayed your soul mate by getting pregnant by another man? Do tell me, love, which one shall protect the girl carrying their greatest enemy's child? Who is not only okay with it, but wants the child? Face it, love, every one of your friends see that- your child as a symbol of your ultimate betrayal."
"Stop!" She screamed standing to her feet. She knew she was crying again. The hot tears streaming down her cheeks showing him his words had hurt her. She grabbed her bag before turning to look at me. "I don't know who will protect me but I know it won't be the psychopathic hybrid who won't admit he actually cares for something other than himself." She snapped before turning on her heel and heading for the door.
"You're a fool if you think they care more about you and what you want than they do about revenge against me, love." He yelled after her. She stopped with her hand on the handle. "You said so yourself, love, nobody cares about what you want."
Her grip tightened on the door handle. She hated he was right. They had turned her brother into a hunter after she had begged them not to. Told them she didn't want this for her brother. They did it anyways. If they do would do that, what was stopping them from hurting her baby or getting rid of it behind her back? They would think they were helping her or protecting her in some way. It wouldn't matter what she wanted. Especially if it belonged to Klaus. Some way to hurt him and 'save' her
No. Her friends cared about her. They wouldn't try to hurt her on purpose. He was just trying to turn her against them. She shook her head turning the door handle.
"You're wrong." She growled her back still turned towards him. "I'll prove to you that you're wrong. They'll stand by my decision." She opened the door quickly walking out before slamming it behind her. She didn't care what he thought. Her friends wouldn't try to hurt her. They wouldn't.
Bonnie hadn't been sure about the others planning hurting the baby behind her back. But if they wanted to hurt the baby why would Caroline give her the chance to talk to her? He had to be wrong. But what if he wasn't and she got the baby hurt? Or worse? She had always trusted her friends with her life but could she trust them with her and Klaus's baby's life?
She shook her head wanting to clear the thoughts from her head. She couldn't have Klaus turning her against her friends. She just had to keep that hope. Even if it was slowly fading.
