For Sebastian, having a child in the manor had its ups and downs.
Ups is that whenever Rosella wanted something, she always asked politely.
Sebastian was just finished putting Rosella to bed when she tugged on his sleeve.
"Yes little Mistress?" He asked calmly holding the candle stand.
The small child looked up at him," Sebastian, may I have some warm milk with honey please?"
The butler nodded," As you wish."
Despite that, there were more downs than ups.
Even though Rosella was officially a Phantomhive, she had some habits that needed breaking. One example was that she always tried to do things herself, such as trying to make her own tea when she was thirsty and she didn't want to disturb Sebastian while he was doing his chores. She was forever banned from the stove when she accidently burned her hand trying to get the kettle. There also a habit of her waking up in the middle of the night and taking a walk outside and there was also an incident when she walked in on her parents 'playing' in bed.
Those didn't matter but the one thing that made him so irritated was that the child just had to take a liking to a certain grim reaper. Her excuse? Rosella thought that Grell was pretty.
As for the other servants, they absolutely adored little Rosella.
Bard always tried to impress the little girl with his "awesome cooking skills" although it always ended in catastrophe.
"Bard, what are you making?" Rosella asked sitting in a chair watching the "cook" do his job.
The blonde smirked," I'm makin' you a dish that'll put Sebastian's cooking to shame."
Rosella tilted her head, 'is that even possible?'
The cook put what appeared to be a salmon in the oven and then he pulled out a few sticks of dynamite and threw them in.
"BARD WAIT NOT THE-"
*BOOM*
Before the child could stop him, the kitchen was destroyed. As the smoked cleared Rosella was on her hands and knees covered in soot coughing up a storm of smoke.
"Dyna-*cough-mite*cough**coughs."
Bard learned something new that day: whenever Ciel was above angry, he possessed superhuman strength that almost rivaled Finny's. He had the black eye and broken arm to prove it.
May-ryn loved seeing little Rosella, she also loved having the child follow her around like a little duckling. When in actuality, the child had to make sure she didn't accidentally grab the shoe polish again.
She was fond of Snake and his friends. Emily was her favorite snake. So much so that she started carrying her around everywhere she went.
She was also Finny's good friend, she found his strength quite remarkable. She loved it when he would pick her up and throw her in the air but it all stopped when Elizabeth had a heart attack when Rosella didn't come down for a full minute.
Tanaka, he was just happy to have a tea drinking friend. But he was generally happy that little Rosella was able to help the master smile more, even it was only when she was near his fatherly gaze. He also enjoyed the sound a child's laughter echoing in the halls of the once cold Phantomhive manor.
This time however, laughter was not filling the halls of the mansion. It was the coughs of a young woman.
Ciel looked at the thermometer and let out a soft sigh, "You have a temperature Lizzie."
Dressed in a soft cotton long sleeved nightgown Elizabeth leaned back against the pillows and let out a weak whimper. Her hair was down to its natural curls and her face was clean from any makeup but she was naturally beautiful without it.
Rosella was sitting on the bed with a look of concern on her face.
"Mama what's wrong?" She reached for Elizabeth only for Ciel to gently grab her hand.
"Be careful Rosella, we wouldn't want you to become ill as well."
The child put her hand down and sighed. Today was supposed to have been a family outing, a trip to the city for spring clothing that would end in a small dinner in a lovely Parisian café Elizabeth had heard from her old friends.
Unfortunately, Elizabeth was confined to bed when her seasonal cold decided to make its presence known. She felt guilty for rosella was looking forward to the trip and to be in this state, Elizabeth knew that she may have shattered the child's feelings.
The young woman gave a weak sigh looked at her daughter with warm, apologetic eyes, "I'm sorry dear."
"Don't be," Rosella muttered.
Ciel cleared his throat and scooped up the child from the bed, "Anyway, we will postpone the trip for another time. Lizzie are you well enough to eat?"
Elizabeth folded her hands on her lap, "I don't have much of an appetite at the moment."
Her husband was not fooled, his wife was indeed hungry but she did not wish to burden her husband. There was a small tradition in the Phantomhive household: if the spouse was ill then the healthy spouse was to care for the ill spouse without the help of the servants. Vincent was the one to start this tradition when Ciel was a small boy.
"Nonetheless, you must eat of you wish to get better."
Ciel hoisted up Rosella when she was starting to slip down, "We will leave you be."
Outside the bedroom Rosella gave her father a curious look.
"Do you even know how to prepare meal?"
Ciel turned his head to where his nose was touching the girl's.
"No I do not," He answered in a blunt but rather innocent tone, Ciel then hoisted the little one the air; earning an excited giggle as a result, "But we'll think of something."
And with that, the pair made their way to the kitchen.
Hey guys! well I'm back on the grind. I needed some time to myself after that fiasco with my two stories (they are now in good hands ^^)
