Chapter Seven

"Missing Leader, Deployment Orders, and New Allies"

AOV Headquarters, Remnant

Day Seven (48 Hours since Greg's kidnapping)

"What the Grimm do you mean he's missing!? You should've sent us this information the moment you got a missing person case! No, I am not pleased with the news that has been withheld from me for over two days now….You did what now!? Oh my god. You guys are a bunch of incompetent, arrogant idiots to be even considered as cops anymore! Your asses are going to fry for the decisions you made that might have killed a young man!" Recon yelled as he slammed the phone down in anger. The dog Faunus growled in rage, his hair and tail raised while his ears pointed down. He had gotten a hold of the law enforcement in Atlas a few moments ago to only discover that they knew about Greg's disappearance and hadn't reported it to him until today. However Recon feared that by now it was far too late to be able to respond since two days have already gone by.

The mission to assassinate Headmaster Cortez of the AMC clearly failed when Greg didn't respond for the past two days. At first, Recon thought that maybe he went to find a better moment to eliminate the headmaster without too many witnesses around. However the news from the Atlas Police Department stated otherwise when they finally informed the agent about how two of Greg's travel companions filed a missing person's report the day he disappeared. Of course, the AOV could've had a better chance if the cops in Atlas had sent them the report earlier.

A knock on his office door alerted the agent of the visitor he expected to see. He calmed himself down before getting up and opening the door. The female human AOV Agent stepped back when she saw Recon's ears pointed downwards and some of his hair standing on their ends. However she pushed it aside to begin her report to the dog Faunus.

"Sir, we have managed to put together most of the investigation on the disappearance of Lance Corporal Gregory M. Anderson within the last 48 hours. Now we believe that around 0600 hours on the day of the mission, Anderson went to his sniping position to get set up for the assassination. At approximately 1000 hours, three Federation HVPs went into the building and captured the Lance Corporal. We identified two of the HVPs to be G. Rorke and the Apache with the third being a young girl. We've yet to identify this new HVP, but we're doing the best we can with this information. About two hours later on the same day, the assisting companions of LCpl Anderson, identified as Johan Verruckt, a local AMC student, and Penny, found his room broken into and all of his items missing. They went to the Atlas Police Station and reported Greg as a missing person's case ten minutes later." The agent pauses to allow Agent Recon to interject. The look of frustration on his face made it a clear indicator that he had already knew about this information.

"Is that all you have for me, Agent Sylvia?" Recon asked, his head resting on his hands. Sylvia nodded solemnly to confirm his suspicions.

"That's the information we have currently as we speak, sir." This caused Recon to sigh as he laid his head in his arms on the desk. After a few moments of silence, Recon recollected himself and raised his head.

"Agent Sylvia, set up a video conference with Headmaster Ozpin and Team GRVL of Beacon Academy for me please. I also want every bit of information we have about Greg's by the time I get to the conference room." Recon ordered as he started to leave the office. Agent Sylvia rushed out to accomplish these new tasks while Recon entered his inner thoughts.

"So the Federation wants to take Greg for themselves. Well lets see how much he's worth to them when his teammates show up."

A week later….

Beacon Academy…

Team's CALM, JNPR, JMPD, and GRVL crashed all over the recreational room after going through an extensive reconnaissance mission behind enemy lines. Though they had the fortune of remaining undetected, it was still an exhausting task. Cody Grayson, Mick Connors, and Leland Batista sat on one of the rec room's couches, not bothering to take the time off removing their combat gear. Meanwhile John Bradley, Jaune Arc, Pyrrha Nikos, and Aaron Pierce simply seated themselves at one of the nearby tables, laying their heads on the table in weariness. Ren Lie laid down on a different couch with Nora Valkyrie sitting up against it while Luke Summers and Mitchell Ambrose collapsed on a couple of bean bag chairs. Paul Foley and David Jones actually fell asleep on the floor as Randi Jackson simply sat down on a recliner chair.

However Velvet Scarletina was the only one that sleep evaded. In her mind, thoughts about Greg filled her head as she worried about him. Last time he had called her, he'd promise to keep in touch with the team daily so they would know he was fine. That was over ten days ago and no one was able to figure out what had happened to him. This made Velvet frightened since Greg was going after his father. Often she had nightmares that either involved Greg being killed by Deuce and the Federation or ones in which he came back alive only to be under the control of the Federation's brainwash. Sleep could never come easily to the rabbit Faunus anymore.

Suddenly the door opened, revealing a serious Logan Somers. The Range Master turned on the brighter lights of the rec room, erupting a series of moans and complaining from the exhausted students. However, Logan ignored the protests of the students as he walked over to the area near Team GRVL.

"Listen up, people. Ozpin wants Team GRVL in his office now for new deployment and mission orders asap. Team's CALM and JMPD, head to the Briefing Room for new orders and mission stats. Team JNPR, go shower and head back to your dorm. You can go back to sleep once you're done." Logan listed these orders, increasing the amount of complaints from the students. They still had to comply to him though so they reluctantly got up and began moving to the locations Logan informed them of. Leland, Randi, and Velvet trudged their way through the school, conversing about the new tasks they'd receive.

"I don't get it. We just finished a week long recon mission for the AOV of the possible invasion sites and now, just when we get back inside the academy to rest, they give us a new mission instead of a little R and R." Randi grumbled to Leland as she adjusted the sling of her M27 LMG. The week that Greg was being tested for any traces of Reborn DNA by the AOV, the rest of the team continued to work on finding their role position in a squad. Randi surprised everyone, including her parents as well as her own self, when she displayed her control of the M27's recoil and her accuracy with a fully automatic LMG. This made Randi Team GRVL's Support Gunner. However she still prefers using her dual pistols, but she would accept the responsibility of being the support gunner.

"Well, we are technically at war with the Federation and maybe the Terror Swarm. It's not surprising that we will hardly get time for a long vacation break anymore." Leland brought up this fact in hopes of making the others understand the lack of breaks. The pyromaniac was made the team's official Engineer and Anti-Armour Expert, which was hardly a surprise to anyone at all. He was given a Javelin Missile Launcher that was slung onto his back as well as many other assortments of explosive devices.

Velvet remained silent as her other two teammates started to get into an argument. She tried to push aside any thoughts about Greg being in danger while readjusting her kevlar vest a little. The rabbit Faunus held the position of Team GRVL's Medic, mainly because of her semblance and the fact that she could only use light weaponry. The team's final, and most critical, member of their squad/team structure was Greg, their Rifleman and Squad Leader. Before Greg left for his mission, he was no longer listed as a Sniper/Recon since he displayed excellence across all fields of weaponry. However the team currently had the position vacated when Greg had to go hunt down his father. None of them wanted to fill that spot nor would they even think of getting a temporary leader.

Just as they were about to reach the Headmaster's Office, the door suddenly went flying open and Professor Port soared out of it, slamming into the wall across the hallway. The three students, surprised at this sudden event momentarily, started to approach the professor to find out what had occurred when the answer stepped out of Ozpin's office and presented herself.

"YOU IDIOTIC, OVER-CONFIDENT, BOASTFUL PERVERT! FIRST I FIND THAT THERE WAS A NEW TYPE OF REBORN ATTENDING THIS ACADEMY WEEKS AFTER IT WAS DISCOVERED AND NOW YOU COME IN TO TELL ME THAT IT'S OKAY WHILE TRYING TO FEEL ME UP!?" The woman scolded loudly, causing Team GRVL to start covering their ears, as she placed a foot on Professor Port's back. She was a young, tall, tan-skinned woman with long black hair that reached down to her backside and had the body that made Randi jealous. Her chocolate brown eyes narrowed at the Grimm Studies Professor who was shivering in fear. However what made the woman stand out the most to the three students was her outfit. She wore dark khaki-colored jeans, brown worn-looking boots, a leather belt with a pistol holster, and a brown long sleeve shirt with a brown duster that covered her arms as well as her entire backside. A faded, light brown scarf hung loosely around her neck and a brown broad-brim hat covered her head. Overall, the woman's appearance was one that resembles the one of an Old Western cowgirl.

"Look….I can ex-explain! I wasn't trying to violate you in any way! I thought that I could try comforting you before you exploded at- Oh Grimm!" Port tried to defend himself verbally, but when he mentioned about the woman exploding in fury, she started to kick him non-stop in fiery rage. Leland couldn't help, but laugh at Port's dilemma while Logan, appearing out of nowhere like many times before, started to record the scene on his scroll. Velvet and Randi, deciding to stop the attack, were about to hold the woman back when Ozpin and Glynda stepped out of the office.

"Miss Panetta, as much as you want to beat up Mr. Port here, I still need him alive and in one piece to teach Grimm Studies here at Beacon. Besides, you didn't give yourself a positive first impression to the members of Team GRVL." Ozpin states as he points to the three students nearby. Ms. Panetta looked up and finally noticed their presence before moving away from the battered professor.

"So this is Team GRVL uh? I thought there would be four students here, not three." She started off, examining the team up and down. Ozpin took a sip from his coffee mug as Glynda Goodwitch pulled up Greg's file on her scroll.

"Their leader was on a mission to track down and eliminate Deuce the Nailer in Atlas. This is his file." Glynda explained, handing the scroll to Ms. Panetta. The woman looked at the file closely before handing it back to Glynda.

"You do realize that this boy could easily be considered as a Reborn and if the public finds out about it, then-" A small cough interrupts Ms. Panetta, causing the woman to turn towards Velvet.

"Actually Greg isn't even close to being a Reborn. The AOV classifies him as a Famous since he is still human, but at the same time, he displays abilities that no one could have imagined. Also even if Greg was a Reborn, the public wouldn't be allowed to execute him. If they did, then our allies from Greg's world would never forgive Remnant and would cut ties from any chance of being our allies." Velvet contradicted, wanting to defend Greg from this negative opinions even if he wasn't here. Miss Panetta stared at her like she had grown a second head, but then shook it off.

"Look, bunny girl! I don't need your input right now especially since you guys are going to be helping me find your missing leader! So be quiet and just listen up, girl!" Miss Panetta retorted, making Velvet more angry at the rude cowgirl in front of her. For the first time in the history of Velvet's life, she had met her first personal enemy among hunters and huntresses. Before she could shoot back her insult, Ozpin decided to break up the small argument for more important reasons.

"Anyway, the AOV reported Greg to be captured by the Federation for over ten days. Apparently there was a mole within the organization who leaked information about Greg's side mission to the Federation. So far the AOV is still mole hunting at the moment. However Team GRVL will be looking for their leader in Atlas while working with Miss Panetta and her organization. I expect that there will be no internal conflict between you four if you are going to save Greg alright?" Ozpin inquired, causing Miss Panetta and Velvet to reluctantly agree to his demand. This made Ozpin smirk as he took another sip from his coffee mug. He could easily feel the aura of rage emitting from both females as they glared daggers at each other.

"Headmaster Ozpin, with all due respect, I believe that our team will do just fine without Miss Panetta's assistance here. To us, she is-." Miss Goodwitch uses her little riding crop to slap Velvet on her helmet. She lets out a yelp of surprise and covers her ears from potential assault.

"Miss Scarletina, you will not argue any further with Headmaster Ozpin's decision. Unless you would like a more detailed reprimanding, I'd suggest for you to listen to his orders without any questions." Glynda scolded, raising her riding crop in reminder of her meaning of reprimanding. This causes Velvet to quiver in fear since Ms. Goodwitch is known to have most of the students here at Beacon fear her. The only exceptions of the few who didn't included the Ghosts, Greg, and a couple of others. Miss Panetta smirked victoriously at the shivering rabbit Faunus while placing her hands on her hips.

"Well, it seems that someone has been put back into their place now. I almost would've thought you'd never back down for a second there. Oh well. That goes to show you who really is in charge now." Ms. Panetta sneered and laughed in victory. However Leland then decided to break the cold and hard truth to the new comer.

"Actually Greg put me in charge with Velvet as my second in command before he left. So that means that if you are going to work with us, then you have to earn not only my trust, but also Randi's and Velvet's. I don't like working with people who could be a risk and a liability. Now if you will excuse us, Headmaster Ozpin, we have to start packing our bags for the mission to Atlas." And with that, Team GRVL marched out of the room, leaving a shocked Ms. Panetta, a seething Ms. Goodwitch, and a snickering Headmaster Ozpin. However Ms. Panetta shook off her shock faster and voiced her opinion loudly.

"THAT LITTLE SHIT!"

Marinerecon here. Sorry about the delay, guys. Had to deal with writer's block (which sucked by the way) as well as going off some medication (ADHD pills) in order to see if I can last a full year without them (Its a requirement for joining the military.). Anyway I don't own anything of RWBY or Call of Duty except for my OC's and a copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts.
