James walked awkwardly with Lily through Hogsmead. He looked at her. Man was she beautiful.
Her hair fell down her sholder in perfect natural waves of deep red. Her slender frame was in muggle jeans and she wore an autumn coat. Her lips were a glossy pink and her cheeks rosy. But her eyes were what captivated him, but they mesmerized anyone who ever met her. The complicated deep shining green eyes and he was lost in them.
"James? Are you alright? You haven't said a word since we left the castle…" Lily said looking at him with concern.
"Oh- uh yes of course. Now I hope you don't mind, but I have sort of planned out our date. I have big plans for you Lily Evans it will be the best bloody date you've ever had." He told her flashing a grin at her.
"I'd expect nothing else, but perfection from you James potter." She told him rolling her eyes.
He wouldn't admit it, but the comment made him nearly fly off the ground. He reached out and grabbed ahold of her hand and before she could even have the chance to protest he started running, "Com on Evans!"
She erupted in laughter and followed him running as he led her through Hogsmead.
They ended up on a hill that looked over Hogsmead . To her surprise the place was filled with floated candles and there was a picnic set up.
"James I already agreed to go on the date you don't have to do everything so over the top." But her face lit up and glowed in appreciation. Seeing that much happiness in her eyes and knowing he caused it made him only more happy that he did it.
"Of Couse I did. I want you to know that every time you go out with me I will shower with you respect and compliments. I will always go over the top. I will always do anything to prove to you I'm serious about you. I'm not going to stop being so extravagant just because you finally said. I don't want to do anything that could jepordize my chances with you ever." He said it all like it was nothing. He said it as if it were common knowledge. He shrugged then sat down.
He loked up at Lily questioningly, "You alright?"
She was staring at him in complete shock. She knew he fancied her forever. But he did he actually love her? How could he have said what he did so calmly? How could she not have seen how sincere he's always been? What was wrong with her? Why is she just standing here.
She walked up and sat closely next to him, " You're full of surprises Potter."
This caused him to smile at her broadly. Their date when on exactly how james planned they talked and laughed he complimented her endlessly. Finally it was late and they sat with James' arm draped around her shoulders. Her head lightly on his shoulder and they were looking at the stars.
Lily glanced at James and seen he was staring at her. "James I thought we were looking at the stars." She said with a chuckle.
Instead of blushing he only shrugged at continued looking at her, "I found something more beautiful to look at."
She blushed a deep crimson and suddenly a look swept over his dark brown eyes. He longed to kiss her she could see it in his eyes the way he looked at her and suddenly she felt it as well. She wanted to kiss James Potter.
She got nervous and looked down and said, "It's awfully late we should be getting back."
He nodded as she stood up. He flicked his wand and everything cleaned up and disappeared.
They walked back and James took the risk of just holding her hand and studied her carefully. To his surprise she only smiled.
They walked in a comfortable silence to their common room. Once there they had to sepreate to their dorms.
"I really did have quite a wonderful time tonight James." She said smiling at him as she looked up with big green eyes of her
James looked down at her and wanted nothing more than to kiss her right there and then. She glanced at his own lips and James was sure of it, She wanted to kiss him. It was written all over her face.
"As did I Lily, I suppose this is goodnight?" He said in a low whisper.
She stepped closer to him and bit her bottom lip.
James brought his hand to push her hair behind her ear, but left it there softly touching the side of her face. He stared into her eyes for a moment.
Finally he began to lean his head down to hers. He watched as her eyes fluttered shut. Her lips parted slightly, but He brought his lips right next to her ear so they brushed it slightly, "Have a Stupendous night Miss Evans." His breath sent shivers down her neck. Then he began backing way. Lily opened her eyes as he took her hand and kissed it.
He offered her a sincere smile then walked up his staircase to the boys dorm.
Lily stood there in shock. What just happened? Why didn't he kiss her? Why was she so worried about it? Did she really spend the night pining for James' lips?
Lily stumped up the stairs and with a grunt she flung herself onto her bed and groaned.
"So does that mean the date was a mistake?" Hermione piped up from her bed as she put the book she was reading down on her counter.
"NO! IT WAS BLOODY PERFECT!" She complained then put a pillow over her head and let out a muffled scream.
Hermione walked over sitting on the edge of her friends bed, "Okay so what's the problem."
She picked the pillow off her friends head and grinned at her.
"I fancy him." She grumbled.
"I must be missing something here…" Hermione said not understanding what was wrong.
"Oh Hermione can't you see. I FANCY JAMES POTTER." She said in a moan.
"Yes, you do and he will treat you wonderfully and you two will be together forever and have very adorable children and grow old together and be very happy." Hermione's inside twisted as she said that she tried so hard not to think about the future. She knew she couldn't change their fate. She knew if she did everything could change and she might not even be there. So she swallowed her sickening feeling she got and focused on the now.
"What if he breaks up with me? What if I do start dating him and he breaks my heart? I've never fancied a bloke this much before." Lily admitted to her friend looking down in shame.
"He won't." Hermione held her gaze firmly.
"How do you know?" She asked.
"I just do. Trust me Lils this will last and you will never be happier." Hermione smiled at her friend who now sat up then said, "SO herms how'd things go with Fred? We saw the fireworks."
She frowned, "I forgave him. "
"Did you tell him?" Lily asked already knowing her answer.
"I can't Lily, he'd never feel the same way it would make things odd. I just don't think I can ever tell him." Hermione told her with desire and longing in her eyes. How she wished she could tell Fred how she felt? Knowing him he'd just laugh. He'd think it to all be just a crummy joke. If only he knew. It was him. He made her more happy just being her friend then Ron ever made her while they were together. She didn't know when it happened or even how, but she realized her feelings the moment She heard Fred saying those things about her.
She knew he didn't mean it, but it her so bad Hermione couldn't understand how him saying tht could make her feel worse then when Ron cheated on her. Then as she cried her eyes out she realized it hurt so bad because she was madly in love with him, she loved Ron she did, but she was never in love with him.
It took her 7 years to love Ron, but only a month to fall in love with Fred. But she could never have him he could never know how she really felt. Maybe she was wrong? Maybe this wasn't love? Hopefully it would pass just as fast as it came, but somehow that hope seemed very small. Also she was entirely sure she wanted to lose this feeling. Merlin what was she going to do?
