Author's Note: I bet you guys are surprised to see this in your inbox. First off, I would like to apologize for not updating in going on two years now. Like I've said before writing four stories at once was a horrible idea, but now I have an idea of where this is going and enough chapters to start updating again. Second off, since it's been forever a brief summary of the story so far: After Mitchell's death, Merlin mysteriously wound up in this century. Annie took him back to the B&B and now she, Gorge, Nina and Corrine-Merlin's new half-vampire girlfriend who will have a surprisingly important role later on (You might have already figured it out) -are trying help him survive this brave new world...
After that things were rather uneventful, at least for a few weeks. There was a suspicious influx of Vampires coming into town, and Tom was looking into that, and occasionally came around and asked Gorge of join him in his investigations, and Nina was about ready to pop but other than that things were pretty quiet.
Then came the day Gorge and Nina started looking at baby names. "How about Chastity?" Gorge suggested, pointing it out in the baby name book, "That's a pretty name."
"Chastity Stands," Nina mused, "Maybe. But let's look at a couple of other names first. " She looked back at the book and said, "How about Jemima?"
"Jemima?" Gorge responded, "You want our a daughter to be forever known as pancake girl?"
"Okay, maybe not Jemima," Nina said.
"How do you even know it's a girl?" Merlin asked.
"Medical technology had advanced since the 6th century," Nina explained, "By leaps and bounds. They have a machine that allows people to a see a baby while it's still in the womb. It's called a sonogram. I mean, you can't tell right away but once it's developed for a certain amount you can know the gender if you like. Unofficially our little bundle of joy isn't at that mark yet, but officially it is."
"What does that mean?" Merlin asked.
"Well," Nina began, "The baby's growing faster than normal. We think it's growing at wolf speed."
"How fast is wolf speed?" Merlin asked.
"Let's put it this way," Nina said, "The baby should be here in the next month."
"Wow," Merlin said.
"I know," Annie said, "It's exciting, isn't it?"
"Oh, how about Eve?" Nina suggested.
Gorge gave Nina a questioning look. "Eve?" He asked, "Eve? Really?"
"And what's so wrong with Eve?" Nina retorted.
"You really want to name the first person to be a Werewolf at birth Eve?" George replied, "Eve? As in the first woman?"
"Okay, we'll come back to that one," Nina said.
Just then there was a knock at the door. "Hey, is anyone home?!" Corrine's voice called out, "I need to talk to you guys, it's important!"
Merlin immediately jumped up, raced over to the door and flung it open. "Hey," He said to Corrine, who was standing right in front of him on the other side of the door.
"Hey, Merlin," Corrine said, sounding like there was something on her mind, "Are Gorge and Nina here? I need to talk to them about Tom. I think he's in trouble."
That didn't sound good. "Yeah," Merlin said, stepping out of Corrine's way and gesturing for her to come in, "They're right in here."
Corrine walked over to them apprehensively. Gorge and Nina could tell immediately that something was wrong. "What is it, Corrine?" Nina asked.
"We might have a situation," Corrine offered as an answer.
"Well that narrows it down," George said sarcastically.
"It's Tom," Corrine elaborated, "Two days ago a kid came in and ordered a couple of teas, Tom spotted a pair of fang marks on his neck as he went out, he followed him, hasn't come into work since. I'm starting to get worried, you were the only ones I could think to come to. I mean, it's not as if I can go to the police and say I think the local Vampires did something to my Werewolf friend. And speaking of friends, you guys are his closest ones."
Gorge and Nina exchanged glances. "She's right, Gorge," Nina told her mate, "We're really all he has, we have to go after him."
Gorge knew Nina was right. Plus, if we didn't look for their young friend she'd never let him hear the end of it. For the sake of his sanity and his concnice he would have to go look for him. "Alright," George said, standing up, "Let's go."
Nina started to get up, failing her arms around as she tried to get herself upright. "Uh, Nina, Honey," Gorge said nervously, "Darling, love of my life, maybe you should just stay here."
"Gorge," Nina responded, "I'm not letting go out in to the wild blue yonder looking for Tom especially when there's Vampires involved."
"I won't be alone," Gorge argued, "I'll be with Corrine and these are her people."
"Oh, so just because I'm a Demphir you assume I'm on the Vampires' Christmas card list?" Corrine demanded indigently.
"A what?" Annie asked.
"A Demphir," Merlin interjected, "It's a Slavic term for someone who's half-Vampire."
"That's right," Corrine said, "And not every Vampire likes us."
"Alright, sorry for my preijuce," Gorge apologized.
"All the more reason for you two to not go off on your own," Nina said.
"I'll go with them then," Merlin interjected.
The whole room turned to look at him.
"Well, Nina's right," Merlin reasoned, "You two shouldn't go by yourself, but Nina shouldn't be fighting Vampires in her condition. I'm the only logically choice."
"And what am I?" Annie commented, " Ectoplasmic chopped liver?"
"Right, sorry," Merlin said, "Well, me or Annie."
"Yeah, nothing personal," Gorge said, "But I'd rather have Annie with us, seeing as she's already dead and knows more about Vampires in all."
"Alright," Merlin said, "I'll just-stay here Nina in case anyone comes here, like Tom or Vampires."
"Now that we have the division of labor cleared up," Corrine cut in, "Can we get a move on please?"
"Right," George said, and with that he, Annie and Corrine left.
The first place they went to look was the diner. "Okay," Corrine said, walking to the counter, "So Tom was here, and the vamp kid came in," She drew a line with her finger from the door to the counter, "Here . He ordered the teas, Tom gave him the teas, and I think that's when Tom saw the marks. After the kid was gone Tom told me not to leave, pulled a stake from cooking area, and walked out, " She pointed to the door, "There. "
"And he never came back?" George asked.
"That's what I told you, didn't I?" Corrine said, "I had to close up the bloody place, and I don't even work here."
"Well, maybe there's some clues outside," Annie said, "You know some signs of a struggle or something."
"I already looked," Corrine said, "There's nothing."
"Well, what are we supposed to do?" George asked.
Just then a girl in black jeans and a shirt with the periodic table of elements on it tugged on George's shirt. "Ah, excuse me," She said, "Is anyone of you a George Sands, Nina Pickering , Annie Sawyer, or a Corrine White?'
They all turned to look at her. "Uh, I'm Gorge," He said, awkwardly then pointing to the girls said, "This is Annie and Corrine."
"What's it to you?" Annie asked.
"There's a Werewolf chained up in this old building with a bunch of Vampires," The girl explained, "He told me to find you and get help."
"And how did you get out?" Corrine asked.
"She's a ghost," Annie said, before the girl could response.
"Yep," The girl admitted, "That's me."
"Ah, little girl-" George began.
"Sharon," The girl said, "I'm hardly a little girl, I was seventeen when I died."
"Well, a, Sharon," George began again, "Sorry about your early passing by the way, could you give us a little more information? Like, perhaps, where this building is at?"
After Sharon have gave them more detail information, they team decided to go back to the B & B to stock up on weapons before talking on the small army of Vampires she claimed was there. As they all scrambled through the door, Merlin and Nina looked up from where they had been pacing the floor. "What happened?" Nina said, urgency and slight panic in her voice.
"Sharon here," George said, pointing towards the teenage ghost, "Told us that a gang of Vampires have taken Tom, but the good news is, she gave us a layout of their fortress, including where he is being held, so we can go rescue him."
It took a moment for the two that got left out to process the information, then Nina said, "Well, you're not going alone."
"Oh, not this again!" Corrine groaned.
"Nina, we won't be going alone," Annie said, "Corrine's with us and now so is Sharon, and she knows the whole layout."
"Oh, that's reassuring," Nina said sarcastically, "Four people against an entire legion of Vampires. I feel so much better."
"Why don't I go with you?" Merlin suggested.
"Yeah, why doesn't Merlin go with you," Nina said, "I mean, the kid took out three Vampires with nothing more than a bunch of gibberish."
Corrine looked surprised. "When was this?"
"When he first got to town," George said, before Merlin even had a chance to speak, "All right, he can come."
"I'll go get the stakes," Merlin said, marching down to where he knew some were kept.
"But you're still not going," George said, "It's just not good battle strategy to bring a pregnant woman along."
"Alright," Nina relented, "But I swear if you die on me I will name our daughter Jemima and make sure she knows it was your fault!"
"Don't worry," George said, leaning in and kissing Nina, "We'll be back here with Tom before you even know we're gone."
"All right," Annie said, coming back up the stairs with the others, a kit bag over her shoulder, "We got all the stakes and religious symbols we could carry."
"Alright then," George said, trying to appear tough, "Let's move out!"
"Remember what I said!" Nina called out the door as they left, then much more quietly said, "Please." Then she walked back into the house, shutting the door and locking it. "Looks like it's just you and me, Jemima." She said to her swollen stomach patting it.
Not a half hour later Nina was pacing the floor when she heard the sound of crashing from upstairs. She stopped in her tracks, afraid to move, then she grabbed a stake and crept up the stairs. "Who's there?!" She demanded. No answer. "I know you're there, I heard you!" Still no answer. "Whoever you are you better get out of here now, you und-"
That was Nina got out before the bag went over her head.
