Chapter 7
Dorothy was lightly humming as she stirred in a bowl then she heard the door to the mess hall open she looked to see Jaden, Syrus, Rakaia, Hasslebarry, and Chazz walking in. "Hey boys I'll get your breakfast in a moment", she said.
"Hey but where's Light? Doesn't she always help you"? Jaden asked.
"Oh I reset her clock so she could get here a bit more late", Dorothy smiled as she got them their breakfast.
"Huh? Why would you do that"? Rakaia asked.
"So I can get started making the cake for the party", Dorothy said smiling.
"Cake"? Jaden and Rakaia asked.
"Party"? Syrus, Chazz, and Hasslebarry questioned.
Dorothy looked at them surprised. "You mean Light didn't told you guys"? She asked.
"Told us what"? They all asked.
Dorothy looked at them then sighed. "Honestly that girl. Ok I'll explain you see on the first day of Duel Academy is also Light's birthday", She began.
"Her birthday"?! They all said shocked.
"That's right of course we cant celebrate it since all the teachers and such are busy with the school so we decided to celebrate it on Saturday of the first week but Light always tries not to make it a big deal on us saying 'Its just my birthday no big deal' and 'We don't have to celebrate it its just a birthday'. Honestly it makes me sad of how a girl cant love to celebrate her birthday", Dorothy sighed.
"Then how do you usually get her to celebrate it then"? Hasselbarry asked surprised.
"They beg and/or guilt trip me".
They all quickly looked to see Light her hair tied back by an indigo ribbon that matched her amulet her jacket opened to show her black blouse her eyes showing annoyance. "I swear Dorothy you have got to stop resetting my alarm clock like this every year I keep telling you and Sheppard that I don't want to celebrate my birthday", she growled.
"But Light its you 15th birthday you cant always miss out on your birthday or skip it", Dorothy said.
"Well you guys wont be able to guilt trip me on this one so forget it", Light hissed and stalked off.
Dorothy sighed while the others sweat dropped. "Now you see how bad this is", she said.
"And your still going to plan the party"? Syrus asked.
"That's right I was going to get all the others to meet up at the Ra yellow Cafeteria since theres more room there for the party", she said.
"But someone's going to have to keep Light distracted if we're going to set everything up", Hasselbarry said.
"I already got that covered Alexia will be the one who's going to distract Light", Dorothy said.
"Sis is going to do it"? Rakaia asked surprised.
"She volunteered she mentioned she already had a gift for Light", Dorothy explained.
"She does"?! They asked shocked.
"Yes and I expect you all do too", Dorothy smiled.
They all gaped and paled at this.
Light groaned as she walked rubbing her temple to hold down the headache she felt coming. "Honestly why do they have to make my birthday such a big deal? I don't even celebrate it I mean sure Strauss, Sarah, and the others try to give me gifts which I told them they don't have to do not that they listen but they agree on not celebrating it and now the others know about thanks to her which I really didn't need", Light thought groaning.
"Hey Light".
Light looked to face Alexia who smiled at her. "Oh hey Alexia whats up", Light said lightly smiling.
"Nothing much here happy late birthday", Alexia said giving Light a small box.
"Alexia you seriously didn't have to get me anything honest", Light sighed.
"But I wanted to go ahead and take it", Alexia insisted.
Light sighed and nodded taking the small gift it was wrapped in orchid purple wrapping with a golden bow. "Where did you get the wrapping? Its pretty", Light said.
"Ms. Dorothy gave it to me she had some wrapping in case", Alexia chuckled.
"Of course she would", Light sighed.
Light carefully unwrapped the gift to show a white box she opened it and grew wide eyed to see a smooth white shell like compact. "Where did you get this"? Light asked surprised.
"Ms. Dorothy told me and some of the others about your birthday so I ordered this in advance but its inside the compact is the real gift", Alexia smiled.
"Inside"? Light questioned.
She opened it and gasped to see a smooth silver colored pearl on a velvet like bedding in the compact with a mirror. "Where did you get this pearl"? She asked lightly touching it.
"Well I was walking around on the beach and I found an open clam I was surprised to actually find a pearl inside then I remembered your Gemstone Magicians and since a pearl is a gemstone I thought you might like it", Alexia explained with a smile.
"I love it! Thank you so much Alexia", Light said happily.
"I take it you really like stones huh"? Alexia asked.
"Yeah stones, gems, jewels I love them all that's why I use the Gemstone Deck my dad gave it to me for my birthday", Light smiled sadly as she stroked the pearl.
Alexia was about to say something but then Light spoke up. "You know there are some properties of the pearl", she said.
"Properties"? Alexia asked.
"Yeah the pearl's meaning its calming, purity, truth, charity, and to have a close connection with the Goddess", Light explained.
"Wow I didn't know that", Alexia said surprised.
"Each type of stone has a meaning or more you just have to search it", Light said.
"Thanks again for the gift Alexia".
"No problem. Hey why not tell me more on the meanings of the stones? We can talk in my dorm room", Alexia suggested.
"Are you sure? I don't want to bore you", Light said lightly blushing.
"Hardly come on", Alexia said smiling genuine.
Light softly smiled and nodded as they walked off to the Obelisk Blue Girl's Dorm.
"Ok a little higher Ken".
"I already got it Rose its fine".
Rose pouted up at Ken he and Itsuki were putting up a banner that said 'Surprise Light'. "I just want this to go perfect for Light so she'll learn to love her birthday", Rose said.
"We all do Rose but you got to loosen up a bit", Isabella said from the kitchen.
"Ahh! Sega stop your stirring too fast"!
"Ok I'm slowing down"! Sega said from the kitchen.
"So where's Jaden and Rakaia? They're suppose to help us with the decorations too", Itsuki said climbing down from the ladder.
"Alexis and Luna are helping them find a present for Light they're lucky their girlfriends are bailing them out", Blair said putting up streamers.
"Yeah but those Slackers need the help", Chazz said, he and Hasselbarry setting the table.
"Say Rose what did you get for Light anyway"? Ken asked.
"Oh well I have this hobby of making hair clips so I made one just for Light I hope she likes. What about you Ken"? Rose asked smiling.
"I got her this fantasy adventure book", Ken said getting off from the ladder.
"Oh Light will love it she loves fantasy books", Dorothy said from the kitchen.
"So you're in the clear. What about you Itsuki"? Rose asked.
"Well its... Secret", Itsuki muttered looking away.
"Secret is it"?
They all grew wide eyed as Atticus came in wrapping an arm around Itsuki's shoulders. "I see you have a special gift for your little girlfriend", Atticus said smiling.
"You know if Light hears you talking like that she will throw you in the volcano", Itsuki sighed getting out of Atticus's grip.
"I'll take the chance for she's going to thank me when I get you two together", Atticus said determined.
"Ok you're helping us with the decorations now", Syrus said as he and Blair pushed him away.
The three sweat dropped as Itsuki sighed. "I'm starting to wonder how Alexis is related to a guy like Atticus", he said shaking his head.
"Same here. But Itsuki is that gift for Light really that special"? Ken asked.
Itsuki only waved off the question as he walked to the kitchen a light blush on his face.
"And Rose Quartz is another symbol of love yet they call it the 'Queen of Love'".
"That's so nice".
Light was with Alexia in Alexia's dorm room Light using a computer to show Alexia different stones then Alexia thought. "Hey Light whats the stone in your amulet"? She asked.
Light grew wide eyed then smiled sadly. "It's a sapphire you see this use to belong to my mom it was an anniversary gift from my dad since mom's birthday was on September like mine", Light explained.
Alexia looked at her surprised then she sat on the bed. "Light mind telling me about your parents"? She asked.
Light looked at Alexia surprised. "Why the sudden interest"? She asked.
"I'm curious really you never talk about your parents so much", Alexia said.
Light thought for a moment leaning back on her chair slightly. "Well I don't remember much I was 5 when they died dad was a nice man who worked in a huge company didn't know his position though yet he loved his family then there was mom who owned her own Jewelry shop I guess you can say I got my love of gems from her she was super fun and adventurous so as a side job she became an archeologist".
Alexia handed Light a tissue Light looked at her confused then realized she was crying sighing Light took the tissue wiping her eyes. "Sorry didn't even noticed", she said.
"Its ok really. So did you know any family members on your mom's side"? Alexia asked.
"Huh? What do you mean"? Light asked.
"Well you only mentioned your grandparents from your dad side. What about you mom's"? Alexia asked.
Light thought deeply on that one. "Well I know my mom had a brother and a dad but her brother passed away years ago and I don't know who my other grandfather is", she said.
"Haven't you ever thought about finding him"? Alexia asked surprised.
"Not really he knows I'm alive and here thanks to Sheppard besides I'm not really sure I want to meet him", Light sighed.
"How come"? Alexia asked.
"Because... I'm worried if he'll be like my other grandparents not wanting to know anything about me", Light said softly.
Alexia grew wide eyed at this then walked to Light so they were eye leveled. "Light you wont know that unless you speak with him though", she said.
Light shook her head. "I rather not take the chance I don't think I can even trust my own family after what my other grandparents did to me so I just think for the best I don't meet him", she said.
Alexia looked at her sadly as Light then got up and stretched. "Come on lets go find the others I'm starting to eonder where they are", she said.
Alexia grew wide eyed at quickly thought. "Uh hey why not we have a duel first", she suggested.
"A duel"? Light asked surprised.
"Yeah you know for fun", Alexia said.
Light looked at her then nodded. "Ok sure lets duel I don't mind. But Alexia mind doing me a favor"? She asked.
"Sure", Alexia nodded.
"Mind if we keep this conversation just between us"? Light asked.
"Can I ask why"? Alexia asked surprised.
"I just don't want the others to know yet so just between us", Light said.
Alexia was a bit unsure but then nodded. "Between us", she agreed.
"Great so lets get dueling", Light said smiling.
Alexia smiled slightly as they then went outside getting set.
"Lets duel"!
