She's The Blade
Chapter 6: Understanding
This chapter's gonna be short cuz I just need to get out a chapter where something between characters actually happens.
The next afternoon Remy was exploring the League's 'underground lair'. Her mind was on Sawyer, for some reason or another.
Why was he still angry with her? It's not as if she'd ever done him any personal wrong! Remy killed people for other people's safety, she always stood by that. But still, Sawyer was unforgiving and cold.
Speaking of Sawyer, he had come round the corner that Remy was turn. Remy was knocked to the ground, the impact sending a faint pain through her behind.
"Sorry," Sawyer said grudgingly. Remy stood and dusted herself off.
"For what? This or the way you've been treating me?" He had the decency to look slightly guilty.
"For…both I guess. I didn't mean to be mad for that long, I just couldn't find the time to apologize earlier." He said quietly. She sighed, relieved.
"Apology accepted. Sawyer-"
"Tom."
"What?"
"Call me Tom," he said, a smile breaking over his face.
"Alright. Tom, I just want you to know that I don't kill for fun. Really."
"But why bother? Why stoop down to their level, Baudelaire?"
"Remy. It's Remy," She smiled at him. He grinned back.
"Remy."
"I do it because no one else will," She sighed, "Everyone's afraid. I'm not, Tom. I want to help them."
"Okay, Remy. I understand."
"Good."
After talking and laughing with Tom for a while, Remy went to find Constantine. While walking back to his room, she found Skinner trying in vain to put the pieces of a clay vase back together.
"Clumsy aren't you, Rodney?" She mused. He didn't seem the "last name" type, at least not to her."
"Just a bit," he replied. He was in his trench coat, sans grease paint. She could only judge his expression by his voice.
"I doubt the vase would stay together if you just threw the pieces together."
"I do too," Rodney said, "but I'd feel less guilty if I tried for a few seconds." She laughed.
"Why don't you just leave it for now," she said, nodding to the broken pieces scattered around him.
"Never heard a better idea in my life."
"Thank you. Come, walk with me." He straightened up from his kneeling position and held out his arm. Remy took it with a joking smile. She was sure that if he was visible, he would be smirking. They set off down the hallway together, talking about different things that had happened in the League and to other members. Remy was laughing at a tale Skinner told about Tom's attempt to flirt with Mina, when Henry ran out of the briefing room in their direction.
"We've found him! Rasputin! He's in Vatican City!" Remy looked quickly at Rodney. He shrugged slightly and they broke into a sprint towards into the briefing room, still arm in arm.
End.
Yeah, short, but nothing was really happening with Skinner and Sawyer before. I'll update soon.
