Chapter 7: Full Moon
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
Day 5
"Klaus, we need to talk about yesterday," she said indignantly. The hybrid had spent the past day avoiding the topic of conversation and she wasn't going to let him brush it under the rugs any longer.
"There is nothing to talk about. My decision stands and it will not be overruled."
"You're an asshole. I don't even know why I'm worried for you. If you don't get down from your high horse and just accept that you need me to survive, I'm not even going to bother anymore."
"Caroline," he growled.
She knew she should stop before he was mad but her anger didn't allow room for his tantrum.
"Honestly, you are not even worth the calories I burn talking to you."
His body grew cold and stiff at her remark especially when she brought up his 'worth'.
That was Mikael's favorite word to taunt him. "You worthless boy! You are not worthy of love or anything boy. You are pathetic."
When he heard her uttering those hateful words again, he snapped. He blurred in front of her and grabbing her and shook her roughly.
"You don't know anything about me!" He yelled, his eyes flashing a golden hue.
Caroline stepped back as fear instantly settled in the pit of her stomach. Had she gone too far? She was still shocked at his outburst that she didn't realized his iron grip was hurting her.
"Klaus…I …I didn't…."
He let her go just as roughly and she lost her balance and fell backwards. He didn't bother helping her but flashed away, leaving the blonde alone.
Caroline sat down thinking what she had done. She had made the situation worse. "You're so stupid!" She berated herself. She had wanted to ease the tension between them not create more.
She winced noting bruises were forming on her arms due to his grip. She didn't know what to do. She had been doing a lot of thinking yesterday and she came to the conclusion that she had fallen for the hybrid. She thought it was impossible but after assessing her feelings and her actions, everything amounted to that conclusion.
She was willing to risk hurting herself for him. She hated when he was mad at her. She despised the fact he was so careful around her as if she was a porcelain glass doll that could break at a single touch. Most importantly, she felt elated when he smiled, when he talked about his past or the adoring look he gives her.
It was that daunting realization that she knew she was in deep trouble. She had fallen in love with a man who would never reciprocate her feelings. She understood he cared deeply for her, more deeply than he had for anyone else- it's obvious by how he takes care of her, but he didn't love her.
Well, she was pretty sure he didn't love her, but then she wasn't certain if Klaus knew what love was. Parents were supposed to love their kids but his hadn't loved him. His father abused him with a cold heart whereas his mother did nothing to stop it. Her husband suffered from both physical and psychological torment, which was why he didn't believe in love. His hatred for his parents, overpowered his wish to be loved and those emotions were amplified when he turned.
She on the other hand grew up in a loving family. She heard the story of how her parents fell in love. Despite being betrothed, her parents ended up learning to love one another and she had never seen a married couple happier than them. Her mother once told her how she would know if she loved another.
It was the feeling of being adored and wanted. Her mother described when she was younger.
Flashback~~
"Mommy, how did you know you loved daddy?" The eight-year-old Scottish princess asked the queen.
"Let's see. There are many reasons, my child."
The blonde child nodded.
"When you find a man that makes you happy, that you feel safe with, that completes you and respects you, that is love. When you truly love someone, you would do whatever it takes to make them happy and you wouldn't care what it would cost you. Love is mostly about sacrifice my dear. There's a lot of other ways to know but that was how I knew I loved your father. I was willing to sacrifice my happiness for his happiness."
End
Judging by her mother's words, she was in love with her husband. She felt safe with him even though he was easily the world's deadliest creature. He made her happy. She was also willing to put herself in danger for him. And she was willing to do anything that would make him happy.

After their spat, Klaus distanced himself to the other end of the island. He needed time to think and could only do that alone.
He hated how everything had played out. All he was trying to do was protect her, but she couldn't understand where he was coming from. He didn't want to hurt her, why couldn't she see that!
Caroline wasn't his only problem, the bigger problem was looming ahead. In four days, it would be a full moon and it would only be his third time since unleashing his true self. He was worried he couldn't control himself around her as he was still getting used to the pull and attraction of the moon to turn.
He had only transformed into the beast twice. Once when he was firstly turned as a vampire- when he found out the truth abut his birth and the second was the night he broke the curse. The second full moon after that, he had busied himself with his whores. He could lose himself for a while in their bodies and their blood, which was all he needed to avoid the urge to transform. His reputation for shagging anything with a pulse had been unfounded but it was hard to say no when sex was offered. Adding the fact that he was royalty, the number of women that offered themselves to him was uncountable.
In their society, what the King says goes and being royalty was a major advantage. Lords and Dukes gave them their daughters in hopes of the women ending up carrying his child but he was a vampire and the women were mostly used to keep his bed warm and for his hunger.
He had never had a relationship due to his doubts about love. Klaus never lied to any woman he took to bed, never let her think she was getting more than a good time for a few hours, days, weeks or however long his lust continued. He was never faithful because he didn't expect any relationship would last. Even Tatia was just a means to an end.
Until Caroline.
His sweet Caroline was like no other woman he had met in his long existence. Caroline Forbes was a stunning and intelligent woman with an equally hot body. He knew she was different the moment he laid eyes on her. She was pure and innocent and could easily be the light in his darkness. She was unpredictable and stubborn in nature and he loved that about her.
Women liked him and he liked them but Caroline did not succumb to his charms. He was intrigued in her not just because she posed as a challenge but he was genuinely interested in her. She drove him mad with her stubbornness but she also made him laugh and most importantly, she showed him what it means to truly care for another.
Caroline had never pushed him for anything, never even argued when she caught him in bed with another. She had been loyal and faithful to him throughout their marriage even if she hated him. He knew he hadn't been very fair to her and he was trying to slowly make amends to that.
She had been an infuriating woman since they tied the knot and even though three months has past, she was still the headstrong woman he met. However, he could also see the change in her. She was initially afraid of him but nowadays he noticed she was more comfortable around him.
Klaus couldn't deny he was starting to feel something for her. He was afraid, as she was the first person outside of his family that managed to evoke some form of emotions in his undead heart. He wasn't sure if what he felt was love but he knew that he was falling for her. She was everything he had wanted in a woman. She is a queen respected and honored by her subjects that ruled with a fair and kind heart. She was forgiving and understanding in spite of the harm he had caused. She was light shining like a sun.
Truth be told, Klaus had been keeping his newfound feelings to himself. He had laughed at Rebekah for falling in love so easily and that was what he was doing. He was a hypocrite. However, that wasn't the sole reason though. He was equally worried that his affections for her were one-sided. He didn't think he could bare the rejection. His parents had never loved him so he believed that no one could. He had nurtured himself to believe that he wasn't worthy of love.
It was also the reason of his outburst earlier. Her words were a daunting reminder of how Mikael had treated him. He couldn't stand hearing those words from her, as it was just prove that she would never love him and it stung. He hated the thought of being rejected because he wasn't good enough.
"Ahhhhh," he groaned out frustrated and easily knocked down a couple of trees.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
After coming up with a plan, the queen ventured into the island in hopes of finding her husband. She pushed past trees and branches going deeper inside despite her fear of snakes.
"Klaus, please. I'm sorry," she shouted knowing full well he could hear her. "Can we please talk?"
Her attempts were fruitless as she was met with silence. But being the headstrong princess she was, she was not going to give up that easily. She spent a good half hour searching and calling for him that her throat croak from it.
"Ouch!" she cried out. She looked down and noticed a leech had bitten her. She took a seat at a rock as she tried pulling the insect off her. "Uurgh," she grimaced pulling the god damn insect out. She was bleeding a little but the wound was nothing compared to her earlier injury.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
He had planned on ignoring her for the day after her insults but when he heard her in pain, his control snapped. He vampire sped his way towards her seeing her sitting on a rock with some blood on her ankle.
"What happened?" He asked concerned.
"Go away," she bit back. "I know you don't want to talk to me, so just go!"
"Love.."
"Don't you dare love me! I know you heard me calling for you but you did nothing to acknowledge me. Once I injured myself, in you come acting all concern for my well being. I don't need your pity," she spat out venomously.
"Caroline," the hybrid tried.
"I said go away, you stupid hybrid."
"Let me help you," he moved forward to help her.
"Don't touch me!" She flinched.
"Fine, I won't touch you but you wanted to talk, let's talk."
"I don't want to talk anymore. I know where I stand."
"Caroline, you don't understand.."
"Oh I understand everything perfectly!" she cut him off. "You think I don't know I'm just additionally baggage for you."
"I never said that," he bit back.
"You didn't have to. In the end, I'm still only a food source to you. I'm sorry that I lied that it didn't hurt but I did it out of good faith. I trusted you and even if it did hurt, it still isn't your fault. I'm certain having fangs in one's neck would hurt any other person. So it does not give you a reason to just shut me out! What if we never get out of this island? If you don't feed from me, you'll desiccate and I'm left alone to fend for myself and we all know how that'll turn out."
"Just hear me out," he said softly.
"Fine," she huffed crossing her arms over her chest.
Klaus contemplated what would he say next. He knew it was going to a low move but he wasn't willing to put himself out there just to have her reject him.
"Caroline, I really meant it when I say I care about you," he started slowly making sure he had her full attention. "I just can't stand the fact that I'm the one hurting you. You called me a monster once and it will be true if I continue hurting you. You're right, I'm not worthy of you. I've never been and I never will."
"Don't you dare twist my words against me!" She shrieked. "You know what I get it. Your father didn't love you so you assume no one else with either. Well, news flash Mr. alpha male, I'm not your father."
"Tell me this, do you think you can love a beast like me?" He asked barely above a whisper.
Caroline was caught up by his blunt question that she was lost for words. "I..I.."
He was hurt by her hesitation knowing that her silence was a rejection.
"You'll never love me. So why don't you stop pretending that you can," he spat, his tone dripping with hostility.
"I never said that, so stop putting words into my mouth. Why can't you just acknowledge the fact that there are people around you who care about you!"
"Because that's not true! Even my family can't stand me!" He stormed off.
"Well, unlike them, I do care for you," she shouted back.
"I know," he answered quietly. "But you don't love me."
"I never said that but you can't go around like that, you need to connect with people and try to understand them."
"Isn't this what I'm trying to do with you?!"
"If it means so much to you, I'll tell you the truth. I admit that I hated you when I first met you but since getting to know you, I've started seeing another side of you…"
He cut her off, not wanting to hear what she had to say next. "Don't," he growled in warning.
"Klaus, you need to hear me out," she demanded.
"No," the warning in his voice deadly. "Just don't say it."
"It's important," she told him. "You won't regret hearing me out."
Was she kidding?! He didn't want to hear her rejection. He could stand her rebuffing his advances but not the sting of rejection. It was like a slap to his face.
"Just tell me," he relented gruffly not long after.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
Caroline fiddled with her fingers as she swallowed down her nervousness. She had thought of all possible scenarios on how it would go down, ultimately knowing it was a huge risk. She had acknowledged her feelings towards the hybrid and knew she was risking everything by telling him the truth.
She stopped to think about how she'll feel if Klaus turned her down telling her he didn't feel the same. Was she willing to put herself out there for this? She thought about how she'll feel when one day he grows tired of her or the possibility that he feels absolutely nothing for her. She thought about the daunting reality that she is going to love him for the rest of her life, which didn't even amount to a fraction to the years he had lived. She also contemplated the fact that she would age and even if he did reciprocate her feelings now, he might not want her in a few years time.
She figured that it was not worth it to love this man in front of her, not when he didn't love her back. She also knew that she couldn't erase her feelings for him and she couldn't help it. She could only hope that her affections were returned.
Ending her internal battle, she rushed, "I'm in love with you."
When she timidly looked up at him to gauge his reaction, she noticed that he was rigid and frozen in place. Perhaps your admission stunned him.
Klaus was shocked at her confession. Never in a million years did he think that someone as pure as her could learn to love a beast like him, let alone was in love with him. He was taken aback that all he could do was looked at her wide-eyed praying that it wasn't just a figment of his imagination.
"What?" he asked in disbelief. No on had ever told him that they loved him. Even his siblings weren't so vocal with their emotions. The woman standing in front of him was the first person to ever say that to him.
"I said that I'm in love with you," she said softly. "I don't know when but I've fallen for you," she looked down at her feet due to her nerves.
Klaus couldn't stop the grin that was forming. She loved him! She freaking admitted she loved him! He didn't think it was possible for her to return his affections. The hybrid was elated and ecstatic to hear those magical words tumbling from her sweet lips. It felt surreal to hear another saying those three little words to him. He didn't think anyone could ever really love him but Caroline seemed to be the only exception.
Truthfully, he was a little skeptical, but the erratic beating of her heartbeat and the way she said those words couldn't have been an act. He believed deep inside that she wasn't lying to him and her feelings for him were true.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
She was growing worried and agitated at each passing second as the man she just confessed to remain silent.
Caroline felt stupid at her admission. She was praying her husband at least acknowledge her confession but he remained silent and unmoving. Taking his silence as rejection, she tried to keep her composure. "I'm sorry for dumping this knowledge on you when clearly you don't feel the same." She stood up and turned away from him hoping he hadn't see the tears forming. It was bad enough she was being rejected; she couldn't lose her dignity as well.
The hybrid scowled at her. "Caroline," he moved to turn her into his arms.
"What?" she asked in a broken whisper. She didn't want to feel the sting of rejection that was biting at her.
Klaus lifted her chin with his finger so that she was looking him in the eye. His heart clenched at the sight of her blue orbs glistening with tears. "I've fallen for you too," he breathed, enunciating each word clearly.
The blonde raised her hand to wipe her tears, but Klaus caught her hand in his.
"Don't cry, love."
"You love me?" she interrupted needing conformation she had heard him right.
"I do," he smiled using his thumbs to wipe away the hot tears.
"I..I thought you…I thought you didn't want me.."
"You have caught my attention since I met you. I didn't know how deep my feelings were for you until I almost lost you. I couldn't bear the thought of losing you."
"Really? I was so worried that my feelings for you were unrequited," she sobbed.
"Ssshh, you must know that isn't true."
Caroline gasped and held her breath as he kissed her cheek. "I love you," he blurted those three little words for the first time in his entire existence. It felt great to finally open up to her about his feelings, to let her know what she meant to him. He gently kissed her tears away. "Don't cry."
"I'm..I'm just so happy," she whispered in his ear.
"The feeling is mutual love," he pulled back keeping his eyes on her. He admired her soft features; her sparkling blue orbs that stared back at him, her slightly flushed cheeks and her soft pink lips. Never before had he been so tempted by a woman, but something about her called to him like no other.
"I'm such a mess," she mumbled moving her hand to wipe her tears.
He stopped her halfway. "Let me," he said, his voice lowered. He delivered another kiss to her cheek, tasting the salty remnants of her tears.
"Please stop," the queen breathed. The light, gentle, pecks he placed not only stole her senses but her breath.
"I like touching you," he answered in a husky tone, his lips moving from her cheek down to her chin and lower still. "You're skin feels so soft, like silk."
Down the column of her throat his lips moved, all the way to her shoulder. She shivered at the gentleness of his touch, the heat from his breath.
"Please stop," she stammered pushing at his chest. The feelings, the sensations he was evoking made her confused. She couldn't think, could barely breath.
"I don't want to stop," he mumbled ever so lightly as he leaned toward her until there was but a breath between them. "Close your eyes," he whispered.
Caroline hadn't noticed he had close the last distance. She briefly heard him whispered before his lips captured hers.
Caroline closed her eyes when she felt his lips brushing across hers in the most gentle, perfect kiss she couldn't even have predicted in her dreams. Her first kiss from the first and only man she wanted to kiss her and hoped she ever would. She was surprised at how soft Klaus's lips were when they pressed into hers.
Her lips felt as soft as a rose petal. He couldn't help but deepening it while still keeping it gentle. Her stunned response was evidence that this was her first kiss. He felt greatly honored that she had allowed him to be the first man to touch her delectable lips. To sample the first taste of her innocence. It pleased him that no other man had experienced her soft sweet lips and he was going to ensure it remained that way.
When Klaus broke the connection, he noticed her eyes were still closed. "You are mine," he said pressing a tender kiss on her temple.
Caroline was still recovering from the surprise of the kiss. Her first kiss. She was more than a little shocked that she couldn't find any words at all. He stole her senses just as he stole her lips, her breath, and her mind. Thinking was impossible, instead, she reached up to caress his face. His skin was warm and a little rough from the stubble on his jaw.
His breath seemed to hitch at her caress. She lifted her face so their eyes met, "I love you, Niklaus Mikaelson."
For an instant, he went perfectly still. As though she had stunned him with the rawness of her voice. And then he smiled, "As I love you my dear." One arm swept her hard against his body, and she gasped into his mouth as it bore down on hers.
Caroline couldn't stop the moan from slipping from her lips. The urge to breathe was what broke the kiss. She didn't know how she got the strength, but she somehow managed to push at his chest.
"I'm sorry," she opened her mouth to draw breath into her lungs.
"I'm the one that should be apologizing. I got carried away," his tone apologetic. He had forgotten she was human for that moment. Forgotten she needed to breathe when he didn't.

Day 6
Early the next day, Klaus woke up feeling the cold wind hit his skin. The wind had destroyed the fire he built. He looked over at his wife and instantly realized she was freezing. Her teeth were clattering and her skin had turned a shade blue. He immediately wrapped his arms around her to keep her warm.
The sky was grey despite it being morning and Klaus knew it was going to be another challenge. He could sensed a storm was coming making thins complicated. He had hoped to get off the island in the next couple of days before the full moon but a storm would only delay their rescue.
That wasn't the only problem. He also had to find them another shelter, as the cover they built would not survive the storm. The Original was relieved that his body heat was slowly warming Caroline up. He gently lay her down and covered her with his tunic and some leaves so he could begin hunting for food.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
"Good morning," Caroline smiled shyly at her husband that was building another fire. Seeing him reminded of the kiss last night and her heartbeat accelerated at the memory.
"How was your sleep love?" He turned to look at her.
"It was good," she replied taking a seat beside him.
They sat in silence until he broke it. "A storm is coming," he said with a look of concern.
Caroline looked up at the gray skies and sighed. The wind suddenly picked up and the blonde hugged herself tightly, trying to retain what little warmth was left in her body.
"You were freezing earlier," he told her. "I'm sorry that I don't have anything thicker besides my tunic."
"It's not your fault," she answered, rubbing her arms. How could she possible blame him when he was already shirtless?
"We need to find another place as shelter. What we have won't hold the storm."
She nodded," What do you suggest?"
"I saw a cave before, I think it would be best if we take cover there."
"Okay," she agreed. She trusted Klaus with every fiber of her being; therefore she didn't feel the need to question his decisions.
After consuming a handful of berries and a couple of coconuts, the Original led them towards the cave he found.
"Wait here," he told her when they were at the entrance.
He made sure there wasn't anything dangerous inside it before giving her a nod to follow him.
"It looks a bit dark in here," Caroline said hesitantly.
Klaus held out his hand for her and intertwined them together. "I'm right here sweetheart. I'll get started on a fire once we settle."
The deeper they ventured into the cave, the darker it grew. There was a tick- tock dripping sound that echoed in the darkness and Caroline couldn't help but tighten the grip on the hybrid's arm.
Her fear of darkness was gradually consuming her. The deeper they walked; she felt shivers of goose bumps running down her spine. The air inside was cold and the walls were cold and damp to the touch.
"Can we just stay here?" she stopped walking. She could see the faint light of the entrance from where she stood and was afraid if they went any further, they would just be consumed by darkness.
"Alright, sweetheart," the Original agreed.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
By the time Klaus had started a small fire, it was pouring heavily.
"This place gives me the chills," Caroline admitted softly. She was pretty certain there were bats living inside the cave with them.
"Nothing's going to harm you," Klaus tried to soothe her. He had noticed she had been busy fidgeting since they got inside the cave. "Relax sweetheart."
"I think there's bats in here."
"They won't harm you," he explained.
"How long do you think the storm will last?" She asked playing with her fingers.
"I really don't know, but it doesn't look good," he answered as a roll of thunder prodded the island. They sat in silence when he noticed her shivering. "You're cold," he stated.
She didn't reply and the Original moved to sit beside her. He wrapped an arm around her pulling her closer. Caroline rested her head on his bare chest. "Aren't you even a little cold?"
"I'm part vampire sweetheart. We don't feel the cold," he shrugged.
"Thanks for keeping me warm," she snuggled herself closer into his warm body.
"My pleasure, love," he smiled stroking her hair. He kissed the top of her head, breathing in the scent of her long blonde hair.
"Can I ask you a question?" she asked after a while.
"Of course."
"What do you see in me?"
He was amused at her question. "You're beautiful, you're strong, and you're full of light. Not many people have that," he answered.
"So, you're telling me that you haven't liked anyone else in your hundred lifetimes?"
"I'm not that old love," he chuckled. "But yes, that is exactly what I am saying," he replied in a serious tone.
"You could have any woman you want though, yet you agreed to marry me. I don't understand, I'm not anyone special."
"You're very special love. I've never been captivated and taken by a woman before until I met you."
"Thank you," Caroline said sincerely.
"You shouldn't doubt yourself," he chided. "You're an amazing woman Caroline."
"Thank you, it means a lot," she smiled. "It's just you have so much more experience than me. I have never been with a man. You're my first and I don't know what you expect of me. My mother said my duty to you and to England is to carry your child. Seeing as it's not possible, I don't understand why you agreed to our marriage. I don't understand why I appeal to you." She swallowed hard at her insecurities.
His palm slid to cup her cheek, turning her toward him. "I fancy you because you are everything I have ever wanted in a woman," his gaze intent on her. "You are beautiful, you're caring, loyal and all the qualities a true queen should possess. All I want is for you to be happy," he breathed.
"It doesn't bother you that I….I don't know how to please you," she asked , her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
"I will teach you the pleasures of the bed," he said unashamedly.
She didn't know how to respond to his reply but nodded slightly. "Why didn't you consummate our marriage on our wedding night?" she asked after gathering her wits. She had wanted to know why he hadn't just taken her on that night.
"I will never take a woman against her will," he replied offended. "Even without my title."
"I didn't mean to insult you. It's just the friends I have back at home, they didn't have a say during their wedding nights. Their husbands took them to bed despite of their reluctance."
"I would never do that to you. I would never ever force myself on you. I prefer my woman open and willing."
"I trust you Klaus," she whispered with an angelic smile.
"I'm glad. I won't push you for anything until you are ready."
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
At nightfall, the rain was still pouring heavily. The married couple had settled into a comfortable position. As the grounds were hard, the Original had insisted persistently that she slept on him. Despite her reluctance, she finally agreed knowing full well how stubborn her husband was.
She tucked her head tight to his chest, inhaling deeply of his natural scent.
"I need to tell you something," his tone solemn, as his fingers busied themselves with her hair.
"Hmmm?"
"The full moon is in four days and I need you to promise me something."
"What is it?"
"Promise me you will run as fast as you can if I lose control and you'll do whatever it takes to protect yourself."
She shook her head, "No."
"Yes, you have to promise me, please."
"Okay, I promise to protect myself from you," she agreed. "But, I will not leave you alone."
"Caroline.."
"Klaus," she countered.
"Let's continue this tomorrow. You need to rest," he murmured.
She felt the heat of his body encompassing her, felt his strong arms around her. She was warm and safe, curling up in his arms. His steady heartbeat was a soothing rhythm as she drifted off to sleep.
Klaus lay, intoxicated with her scent, her hair in his face, her warm body pressed in pleasant ways into his. He could feel the rise and fall of her breasts against him with each breath she took. He was mad at himself for feeling frustrated. His mind couldn't help but pounder on the endless of possibilities he could do to her. He wanted her and his growing erection was just evidence of his desire.
He had told her earlier that he wasn't going to push her to sleep with him. But he was a man and he had basic urges. Seeing her wearing the thin garment was challenging his control with each passing day. He hoped his siblings were already sending for help, as he was worried he couldn't control himself around her for much longer. His hunger for blood was increasing and he was also worried about the impending full moon.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
He had passed into sleep when he felt a spiritual force tried to enter his mind.
"Nik, thank God," he heard the familiar accented voice calling.
"Rebekah?"
"I got a witch to do a spell that could contact you. What happened? Where are you?"
"It took you long enough," he grumbled looking at his surroundings. He realized whatever spell the witch cast had brought them to his study back home.
"What happened in France? One of our spies said you both left the day after. That wasn't the plan!"
"I might have upset the king, hence the earlier leave."
"Typically of Niklaus I'd say," added a teasing voice.
"Baby brother, what a pleasure," Klaus replied his tone filled with sarcasm.
"What did you do?" Rebekah asked with a frown, taking a seat.
"I threatened him," the hybrid shrugged.
"You were supposed to strengthen the alliance between the two countries not create problems!" his sister reprimanded.
"Funny thing, why wasn't I told he was a vampire?"
Rebekah looked in surprise. "I had no idea. Did u?" The blonde looked at Kol who also shook his head.
"You didn't kill him did you?" Kol grinned finding the situation amusing.
"I compelled him but he is mostly unharmed."
"What was the problem anyway?" Rebekah pushed. Although her favorite brother had a nasty temper, he would never attack his alliance knowing how important the truce between the countries were at stake.
"He made a move on Caroline," he huffed.
"Your pretty blonde wife?" Rebekah scowled.
"He was a bit too handsy for my liking and that imbecile had no respect for me! An original! I just taught him some manners," the hybrid snickered.
"Let me guess," Kol cut in. "He hit on Caroline. You compelled him. He got angry and wanted revenge?"
The hybrid nodded. "My guess is he compelled our crew as our ship got caught in flames that same night and the safety boat was gone and so were the crew."
"Are you safe? Is Caroline alive?" his sister asked.
"Of course she's alive. We managed to find an island but it's inhabited."
"I can't send for help until the storm dies down unfortunately," Rebekah said. "Have you been able to feed?"
"I know, it's been storming badly here too," he heaved. "Listen Bekah, I really need you to find us as soon as you can. I'm starving and the full moon is right ahead."
"I assumed there isn't anyone to feed from?"
"I've taken some of her blood but I'm not willing to risk harming her. I need you both to do what it takes to find us," he stared at them, his tone grim.
"Sounds like, the big bad hybrid has a soft spot for his lovely wife," Kol mocked.
"We'll get right to it," his sister answered ignoring the other Mikaelson. "I think the connection is breaking. We'll try our best Nik."

Day 7
Caroline woke up when she heard thunder the next day. It had been a week since they washed ashore on the island. She tried being optimistic about their situation but the uncertainty of their predicament was gradually eating at her.
She had slept quite fitfully last night, thanks to Klaus's warm body. She felt guilty knowing how uncomfortable the hard floor of the cave was. She sat up quietly afraid to wake him as she watched the storm raged wildly and lightning shot across the sky. The rain hadn't stop pouring down and the sight and sound of the furious storm raged on.
Her stomach rumbled and she mentally prepared herself to abandon his cozy embrace. She didn't want to wake him up and made up her mind that she could find some food herself.
Untangling herself from his arms, she quietly exited the cave to locate something to eat. Undeterred by a combination of the pouring rain and limited vision, she gathered an assortment of nuts, berries and bananas. Satisfied with her findings, she headed back from where she came from.
She saw him standing at the entrance of the cave and she was about to smile and wave to him when he shouted at her.
In a fierce growl he said, "What the hell were you thinking of Caroline? Going out in the pouring rain?" He flashed to her and then back to the cave in less than a quarter of a second.
"Klaus..I…"
"What the hell Caroline," he snapped. "Why would you go out in the storm? Answer me!"
"I was hungry," she admitted softly. "You were sleeping so soundly that I didn't want to wake you."
"Caroline, don't give me any of this nonsense! I'm trying to keep you alive but you are sure not making it easy!"
"It's just rain. It isn't going to harm me," she responded meekly.
"What if you catch a cold or worst pneumonia?" He stared down at her, anger and frustration pulsing through him. Couldn't she understand how hard he was trying to keep her alive and well? He couldn't risk her catching a fever, not on the damn island.
She knew his intentions were pure and that he was just worried about her safety but she was annoyed with his overprotective tendency. "I'm not a child Klaus. So stop treating me like one!" Caroline snapped in vexation.
"I'm just trying to keep you safe!"
"I know and I truly appreciate your effort but I'm capable of doing things myself," she grumbled.
"Caroline..I'm just trying.."
The blonde cut in, needing him to hear her out. "Sometimes, I feel I'm mostly a burden to you. I feel sorry for all the hard labor you've been doing to keep me alive while I'm just enjoying and being no help at all. If I wasn't human, you wouldn't have to waste so much of your energy to keep me alive and at harms way."
Klaus listened to her and was displeased at how wrong she had perceived his intentions. "Caroline, you are most definitely not a hindrance. How can you even let yourself to think that? You're my wife and I adore you. I would have done anything to keep you alive even if we were back at home. You are most definitely not a burden, you understand me?" He tilted her chin to lock his eyes with hers.
"I just feel so useless around you," she lamented.
"Caroline I DO NOT EVER want to hear you doubting yourself again," he reprimanded the blonde, his expression stern.
"Okay," she nodded.
"Good, now come here," he pushed her towards the fire. "Get out of those sopping wet clothes before you catch a cold!" he growled, staring at how the wet nightie clung and molded her heaving breasts.
She nodded as she waited for him to turn the other way. She was still not ready to undress in front of him.
"Let me know when you're done," he mumbled turning the other way.
Caroline made quick work of taking off the wet garment and slipping on his dry tunic. "I'm done," she muttered picking up her wet garment to arrange them on the boulder to hopefully dry.
"Come sit by the fire, you are shivering," he stated simply, herding her over to the fire.
The Scottish princess complied taking a sit on a low boulder by the fireside while stretching her hands out to the fire. When her hands were partially warm, she started snacking off the fruits she found.
"Do you want some?" she offered in a quiet tone.
"The next time you are hungry, please wake me up instead of trying to find food yourself." Klaus turned to look at her with a glare.
"I'm sorry for worrying you," she admitted, not looking at Klaus, but at the fire. "Are you hungry, for blood I mean. You can feed from me, I don't mind." The last words came out in a rush.
"We've been through this before Caroline!" Klaus roared as he leaped up and paced back and forth, his shadow looming large against the cave walls. "I don't want to hurt you," he leaned down to grab both shoulders lightly.
"You won't hurt me. I know you are hungry. Just take what you need," Caroline said softly lifting her wrist to him.
The Original shook his head.
"You'll need to feed before the full moon," she added. "Please, just take some."
"I'm not going to hurt you," he said firmly.
"You are already hurting me by not allowing me to help you. You will hurt me even more if you leave me." She lifted her wrist near his mouth again, but he made no move.
"Are you sure?" he asked hesitantly. He couldn't stand seeing her upset because of him. He would give in to everything she asked him of.
She gave a slight nod. A second later she felt the sharp pain of her skin breaking and liquid dripping. A fraction of a second later the pain was gone and Klaus's fangs were firmly lodged in her wrist. She felt him suck, the veins prominent around his eyes even when his eyes were closed.
With her free hand she played with his curls, smoothing his wet hair back. "Take what you need, Klaus."
The Original groaned in ecstasy as his lips make contact with her succulent flesh and his sharp fangs pierced her supple skin. The sweet nectar of her rich blood dribbled down his throat and the only feeling he felt was pure bliss. It was a million times better than he remembered!
Klaus was careful to only take what he needed. He couldn't afford to harm her in any way. "Thank you," he licked carefully over the tiny wound.
"Here," he bit into his wrist and thrust it towards her.
She sucked carefully, just a few sips to heal her wound.
"You are amazing my sweet Caroline," he whispered. "And you taste exquisite."
Her cheeks flushed at the compliment. "I'm gl..glad I could help," she stuttered.
It was a while before he spoke again. "Caroline," he stated in a serious tone.
"Huh?"
"I might not be able to control myself around you during the full moon."
She knew they had to go back to this conversation but she hadn't expected him to bring it up this soon.
"My dormant werewolf side would be at its peak and I'm afraid I might not be able to control myself around you."
"What do you mean?" Caroline asked in a weary voice.
"I might not be able to fight off the change when the monster takes over. I need you to promise me you'll do whatever it takes to keep yourself safe, even if it hurts me," he swallowed. "I'm still trying to repress my werewolf side but in case I don't succeed, you need to run and hide."
Caroline put both her hands on his face and inched closer. "I'm not running away from you. I want to help you."
His voice was hard when he spoke next. "Listen to me. If the werewolf part of me takes over, I will not recognize you. I won't know what I'm doing. I could hurt you without even knowing."
"I'm not scared," she whispered. "It's not your fault and I won't leave you. We can work something out."
"No Caroline. Did you already forget I attacked you the night I broke my curse! I cannot risk that happening." He turned away, but she held his face harder, making him look at her.
"It was only one time. Did you change the full moon after?" she asked.
He shook his head a little. "I had busied myself with other matters."
"You can control yourself. I believe in you."
"You don't get it. I had drained and occupied myself with a handful of women to stop myself from tipping over the edge. My vampiric urges had to overpower my werewolf part to fight off the change."
"If you need my blood to stop the transformation, you can have mine," she murmured.
"Out of the question. I killed those women Caroline. I'm not willing to risk your life for it."
His mind flashed to the memory of the night.
He was covered in blood that anyone who saw him would be appalled. He had savagely bit and fed from all eight women. He had his way with all of them and only stopped when he had drained them dry. He saw the look of Kol's face when he came to clean up his mess at the brothel. The women laid dead around him with their breasts exposed and their necks covered in blood. He had felt like an addict of binge and couldn't get enough of blood.
"Caroline," he sighed thinking of another way to explain the gravity of their predicament. "Werewolves are possessive creatures. It's mainly my fault but like it or not, you seem to entice my inner wolf. With the full moon approaching, I don't think I'll have the strength to deny my wolf's nature to possess you. I know you are not ready so I need you to run and hide from me."
"You want to possess me?" She murmured stunned.
He sighed knowing she wouldn't understand how werewolves worked. "Werewolves are filled with the instinct to claim and conquer. I can't explain it but I have a strong desire to claim you as mine. I can't really give you an explanation, as I don't know the reason myself. Don't worry though, I won't do anything unless you want me to," he reassured her.
Caroline wasn't sure what to think about this new information. On the one hand, she was delighted that he wanted her that way. On the other hand she was also worried to give herself fully to him. Was she ready for them to be intimate? She had never been with another, what if she didn't know what she to do and ended up embarrassing herself in front of him? He had been with so many women and she felt pressured because of it.
"Do you want me because you love me or because your wolf wants me?" She asked him honestly.
"Caroline, my wolf half and vampire half are connected. We are one and the same, not two. We are each merely different aspects of the whole. My wolf is me and wants what I want. My vampire part just heightens what I already feel for you."
"What about when I grow old? Will you still want me then?"
"Sweetheart you are still very young to worry about this," he teased. "But if you ever decide you want to become a vampire like me, I'll turn you in a heartbeat."
"What if I don't want to turn, would you still want me?"
"Caroline love, I fancy you for you not just how you look. Your beauty is simply a very welcomed bonus."
"But don't you want me to live forever with you? Or do you not see us together for that long?" She felt tears welling up in her eyes at the thought of him discarding her after he had grown tired and bored of her. He doesn't want me.
"You have to know I was forced into this life. I wasn't given a choice but I want to give you the option to choose. I won't take away your freewill."
She smiled at his thoughtfulness. "Do you want me to be a vampire?"
"It doesn't matter what I want sweetheart. The only thing that matters is what you want," he stared in her eyes. "It's a significant decision as you can't turn back if you decide you don't like being a vampire. You'll have to give up a lot of what you currently have."
"Do you think you'll want me for eternity though?"
"Truthfully, I don't know. Eternity is a long time for vampires love," he exhaled deeply.
"Oh.." she muttered sadly.
He added quickly hoping to rectify the situation. "I've never felt this way for anyone before sweetheart so I can't vow I'll feel the same in the years to come. However, I promise you that even if we are not together in the future, I'll never hurt you and will always keep you safe."
It wasn't the answer she was hoping for- but it's something. He needed time to sort what he wants and so does she.

Day 9
It seemed the storms wasn't going to cease any time soon. It had already continued storming for three days and there still wasn't any indication of it stopping. He grew more worried with each passing day.
To his absolute dismay, Caroline was delirious with a high fever since her little pursuit for food. Her body shivered and her teeth chattered uncontrollably. The Original knew she was very ill, but he had no idea how to take care of her. Vampires didn't fall sick. The last time he cared for someone was when Rebekah was sick and they were still human, which was lifetimes away.
"Klaus," Caroline struggled.
"I'm here."
The cold, combined with the heavy moisture in the air, all took its toll and she felt increasingly nauseated. It started off with a slight cold but by late evening, she was burning up. The next morning, he woke up to an unsettling sight. Her cheeks were flushed red, her lips dried and her forehead was coated with cold sweat.
She was suffering from a high fever and she moaned in pain as the waves of sickness swept through her. "I'm cold."
She was making him nervous, as he had no idea how to help her. Moreover, the full moon was in two days.
The original moved closer trying to provide her warmth with his body. Her poor teeth chattered as he blew his breath to warm her hands. "Do you want some water?" He asked.
She nodded numbly.
All he could do was feed her some water and try to provide her with some more warmth.
"I didn't mean to get sick," she coughed then sniffled
"I know. I'm not blaming you. Don't waste your energy love, you need to rest." He whispered tenderly playing with her blonde locks.
It wasn't long before Caroline passed out in his arms yet again.

While she slept, Klaus had hunted around the island to find some herbs he knew could help cure her fever. As his mother was the Original witch, Rebekah and him were always given the task to collect herbs for their mother's spell. He distinctively remembered a mixture that Esther had used to cure their fever.
Thanks to his heightened senses, he managed to find the combination of herbs needed. It wasn't long before the hybrid was mixing yarrow, catnip and fennel into an empty coconut.
"Caroline sweetheart," he shook her gently. "Drink this, it'll make you better."
She was still groggy but drank the mixture as she was told to.
He knew the remedy would break her fever. All he had to do now was wait for the herbs to take effect.

Day 11
Next morning, Caroline's clouded mind began to clear but she still felt dizzy and disorientated. She was still shivering from the cold but felt a lot better than she was the previous day.
The storm still raged on and she could hear the thunder rumbling.
"Klaus," she nudged her sleeping husband.
"Caroline," he mumbled sitting up. "How are you feeling sweetheart?" His hand moved to touch her forehead checking for her temperature. "You fever has gotten down quite a bit," he breathed in relief.
"I'm feeling much better."
He offered her some water, which she took gratefully. "Thanks for taking care of me."
"Always." He brushed a chaste kiss on her temple. "Are you hungry?"
"Not really." She eased herself up from his embrace.
"You really got me worrying. You've been burning up for two days," he told her.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you."
"I'm just glad you're okay," he said with a smile.

Day 12
The day he had been dreading had arrived. He was only glad that Caroline had fully recovered from her illness.
Klaus had been so tentative towards her throughout her fever that her feelings for the man before her grew stronger and ran deeper than she could fathom. He had been so caring and tender towards her that she felt as if she was falling in love with him all over again. He was everything she had wanted in a man. He was perfect. He adored her, cherished her and treated her with respect. Most importantly, she trusted him completely and felt safe around him.
The Scottish princess had given a lot of thought of what she wanted when she was ill. She realized she wanted him and she didn't want to live without him. She had also decided that she wanted to be a vampire but there was still something holding her back. He had told her he couldn't promise her how long he'll love her and that was the reason she was holding back. She didn't want to have eternity without him.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
The hybrid had grown distressed as the days led up to the full moon. He was only glad that the storm had ceased. Hopefully, his sister had already sent a rescue ship.
He could feel his dormant wolf part yearning to claim her. His inner wolf wanted to make her officially his by mating with her. He had never felt such a strong need to claim another, making him fearful of what would happen at nightfall.
The need to possess her had been tormenting him. His control almost snapped yesterday when he saw her naked. She had told him she needed a quick bath, as she felt gross from her fever. He had consequently agreed not fully understanding what he was agreeing to.
She made him stayed while she gave herself a quick rinse in the spring. He had accidently took a peak of her naked behind while she was stripping herself bare. She was truly a golden haired goddess that had the ability to ruin him. The memory of her walking semi- naked was indelibly printed on his brain. She had a perfectly slender waist and her perfect rounded buttocks, looked the perfect size for him to grasp tightly. She was already perfect from her behind; he could only imagine how perfect her breasts would look.
He was right!
He caught a glimpse of her pale, full breasts when she lifted herself out of the water. His breath caught in his throat at the view of her perfect body. It lasted a mere second before she had slipped the tunic back on.
But the second was enough for him to visualize her fully bared before him. Klaus was a realist. He knew that he was craving for her. He wanted to sample every inch of her, savor her essence, claim her as his and make her writhe and moan until she knew without a doubt that she was his. It was bad. He could only imagine what the influence of the full moon will further do to him.
There had been plenty of physical contact between them but he wasn't willing to risk pushing her for sex. He found himself caught between a rock and a hard place, which was a situation he had never personally encountered. Throughout his vampire existence, he had always gotten what he wanted, effortlessly. He was persistent and always succeeded by exploiting his enemies' weakness or their fear. He didn't care what were the costs, as long as he got what he wanted.
Everything was different now though. It was no longer effortless. It was turning into an internal battle that he was not at all accustomed to.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
Caroline was ready to share another level of intimacy with Klaus. She had come to terms with herself that she was going to love the man forever and wanted to share another experience with him. She had enjoyed their kisses and was prepared to give all of herself to him.
She wanted to become intimate with him as lovers do. She didn't want to be treated like a piece of crystal but a woman he thought could deliver passion to match his. Even if she couldn't carry his child, she still wanted to be his.
She had found herself wondering what it would be like to finally be with him. He had a way of making her body tingle just by being near her. And a part of her knew he would be very experience in pleasuring women. He had been roaming the earth for five centuries. She couldn't even begin to grasp the number of women he had taken to bed.
She had witness plenty of women entering his bed chambers throughout her stay. She also heard their moans through the wall. She had assumed he had been particularly fond of with Tatia but later found out she was the doppelgänger needed for the ritual.
A man of his sensual nature and expertise was only capable of delivering a level of intimacy that would go away beyond the max. It would be off the charts. The thought of that made her breath catch in her throat.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
The sun set quicker than they both had expected. It was nightfall and the full moon was edged into view.
"You run the minute I tell you, you understand me?" the Original reminded her for the umpteenth time.
"I know," she nodded reluctantly. What the hybrid didn't know was that she had never planned on doing as she was told. She was going to stay by his side and help him overcome the beast.
"You run as fast as you can and you do whatever it takes to protect yourself," he warned her.
Caroline scoffed at his demanding tone about to tell him off when she gasped in shock as the Original's eyes changed to a glowing fold color. "Klaus…" she called out tentatively. She was truthfully in awe at the change. It looked entrancing despite knowing it belong to his monster.
Closing his eyes, he inhaled deeply, trying to push his animal back down. But his wolf pushed against him, wanting to claim her. It wanted to assert its dominance over her.
He wanted to strip her clothes from her delectable little body, and after he had devoured her mouth he would lick his way down until he came to her most treasured region. He would lap up her essence until she came then he would take her making him official his.
"Klaus," she breathed taking a step towards him.
What was the woman doing?! Had she never heard of the concept of self-preservation!
"Go, Caroline!" Klaus commanded harshly. He could control his animal but he couldn't control his urge and desire to possess her. She needed to be far away from him before he does something they will both regret.
