-The First Hangout: Part 2-
-Second group-
Alit was jumping up and down excitedly. Even though he was more excited to go to the Dueling Area, he was equally excited by the Games Area. If there was something he loved the most about carnivals, it was surely the games.
Kotori, meanwhile, was trying her best to calm down her hyperactive friend. Sometimes, she felt like a mother to him, because she always had to make sure he was calm and she felt responsible for anything that happened to him.
Takashi and Tetsuo were talking between them. They were both equally excited, but unlike Alit, they didn't show it.
Alzex was the most quiet of the group. He was like the children's parent, the one who only was there to watch over them, nothing more nothing less. Not that he did mind, though. He had grown used to be the most responsible one, so it was okay.
When they reached the Games Area, Alit quickly ran deep into the place, losing the group within a second. Kotori tried her best to follow him, and soon she had disappeared too. It seem it was a silent agreement to divide, because soon after Takashi and Tetsuo also left. By the time he was able to react, Alzex found himself standing alone.
At first, he was confused at what had happened, but then he grew a little worried. Now he couldn't watch over the group of children. He put himself the task to search for them and reunite the group.
He slowly walked deep into the place, not knowing exactly where he was going. He wondered for a while like that, trying to find trace of any of the group. However, he found none. But he wouldn't give up. So he continued his searching, hoping sincerely for someone to appear. And as if his thoughts were heard, a voice not too far away got his attention.
"That Alit! Where is he?"
Alzex quickly recognized the voice. It was Kotori. He then went to find her, and effectively it was her. She was in front of one of the games, looking around as if she was searching for someone. Of course, for what he heard, he already suspected who she was searching
"Kotori?" He asked, not because he didn't recognize her, but to draw her attention.
She took notice of him and gasped, suddenly realizing that she had left the group.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! I left you all guys to search for Alit. I'm so sorry!"
He shook his head. "It's alright, Kotori. You have no need to feel sorry. Besides, the other two also left."
She frowned. "They left? They left you alone?" He nodded, answering her question. She then closed her eyes angrily and tried to retain her anger. "When I see them..."
If he didn't have pride, he would have surely taken a step back. He thought his mother was scary when she got mad, he surely never seen Kotori angry before. Now he just felt sorry for her other two male friends, and not just them, Alit too was going to suffer her wrath. For some reason, he felt responsible of what could happen, so he thought that maybe he could calm her down.
"I was thinking, Kotori, why don't you show me around? It has been a long while since I last came here. Last thing I remember was a little unknown game at the end of the corner."
Kotori thought about it for a while. She then sighed defeated. "I may as well show you around. It's not like those guys are going to come back anyways. We'll probably find them at the entrance."
She looked around once more and gave him a smile. "So, what would you like to see first?"
He thought about for a while. He didn't really like something in specific, so he had no idea what to see first. "I'm not sure. You are the expert today, you can take the lead."
She grinned. "Then I know what you'll love. Let's go." She then started walking and he quietly followed her.
She walked from game to game, showing him what were they about and playing the ones that got their attention. They also bought some candies and chocolates, just for the heck of it. Kotori was actually surprised at how good Alzex was at most games. He was tactical and always found a logical solution to the games. Yuma had told her that he worked in his father company, which could explain fairly well his logical mind.
As he won the games, he received many prizes. Some of them he decided to give it to Kotori, because he didn't found them of his liking or just to be polite. Though he did keep some to himself, three, to be more precise. But Kotori had a feeling that he didn't take it for himself, instead they were meant for someone else. Say, his brothers for example. It would make sense, after all, the prizes weren't all that feminine and could serve well as a present for his sibblings.
But that was just Kotori's suspicions, she couldn't assure anything yet. He never said to who the presents were going to be handed, nor did he said he was going to keep them. So, it was still a mystery, but she was curious enough to be able to ask.
"Alzex, just out of curiosity, who are those prizes meant for?" She asked, trying to not sound so eager to know.
"You surely are curious, Kotori." He said, not giving her a real answer.
"Yeah, I know." She lowered her head a little, feeling ashamed.
"But I think it's good to be curious, as long as it doesn't bring harm to yourself or someone else." He continued.
She eyed him a bit surprised. Now, that was new. Her mother usually told her that curiosity was a dangerous conduct, that it could be bad. And many other have told her the same. Almost everyone thought her curiosity was for gossiping, as normal girls her age did. In truth, only Yuma and their group of friends thought differently. Yuma always encouraged her to be curious and take any chance she could. The other guys did too, but in their own way.
She smiled happily. "You're truly Yuma's relative."
He eyed her. "Why is that?"
She blinked at him but never answered his question as she walked down another game.
He eyed her, surprise hidden in his eyes. Kotori wasn't your typical average girl. He understood now why she was friends with Yuma. The two of them seemed like really good friends, due to their personality.
He shook his head and walked down towards her. He could at least try to enjoy the moment, even if deep down he was worried for the others.
They played a few games more, before receiving a call from Yuma. Kotori was, of course, the one who answered. He had called to say that his group was ready for the change. They were now waiting for her group and Dark's group to be ready. She told him that they were going to search for the others and she would call when she finds them. He agreed and said that he'll wait until he found them, and also recommended to yell that they were going to the Dueling Area so Alit comes out from where he's hiding. She laughed at that and said that she would try it out. Then she finished the call.
"So, now we have to find the others." Kotori said with a sigh.
"What Yuma recommended might as well work. Why don't you try it?" Alzex pointed out.
She laughed a bit at that. "It won't work right now. With all these people around, Alit wouldn't be able to hear it. Though, who knows. Alit's a huge fan of dueling, maybe he'll hear it."
The green haired girl then started walking, now searching for her missing friends. Alzex followed her, also looking around to see if he could spot them. After a couple of minutes searching without any success, Kotori stoped, finally realizing something.
"How stupid of me! Of course!"
Alzex eyed her a bit curious. "Why would you say that?"
She eyed him and sighed. "If there's anything Alit loves the most besides duels and food, is boxing. There's a new game at the other side of the Area that is specifically for boxing. Of course Alit would go there!"
Alzex quickly understood. "It seems like you let that slip, but there is no need to call yourself stupid or something alike."
Kotori blushed a little. In all her years, no one had been so gentlemanly enough to say her that. She was so used at people ignoring her and glaring at her that she eventually forgot her world around and stayed in 'her own little world' with her friends.
"Maybe you're right." Was her response.
He nodded and then both walked towards their destination. During the way, Kotori couldn't help but to feel even more curious of the man beside her. If she could describe Alzex in one word, she woild say 'mysterious'. Yeah, Alzex was a normal guy to the eye, but he was stoic; he never showed his true feelings, or at least, no one could see them. And that made her feel curious. What was he thinking? What was he feeling? How was his past? Everything around him was embedded in a veil of mystery.
She knew she couldn't simply ask him all the questions that popped in her head. She had to be discrete if she wanted to know the answers. Discrete and patient, because she knew that in due time all his mysteries will be thrown in the light. Of course, that doesn't mean she couldn't ask something right now.
"Alzex, how are your brothers?" She asked. That was one of the first questions she had. She knew who his brothers were, but she wondered how Alzex saw them.
Alzex was taken aback by the sudden question, but answered anyways. "My brothers? Well, they're still young and have much to learn yet. In fact, all of us have. If you're asking about a concrete description, then what can I say. Xezla is independent, always been, always will. Yet, he weights himself down with too many worries. He may seem something at first, but you'll have to look closer to notice his true self. Zaxel, is simply innocent. He's smart and he's responsible, but he couldn't understand the true hardships of life. He's hopeful and caring, and he's really close to all of us. Dark, however, is slightly different. While he's also innocent in a way, he also has a mature way of thinking. It may not seem it at first, but right were Dark is standing, you know he's thinking something deep. He prefers to act childish with his pranks but, as he once told us, he does it to 'recuperate the lost time in his childhood'."
Kotori listened carefully to what he was saying. She knew he was giving her some hints to understand better the mystery behind his family. Or at least, that's what she thought.
"How about yourself? How do you describe yourself?" She asked.
He eyed her without any real emotion. "Myself?" He thought about it. "No one has ever asked me that kind of question." He then gave her a small smile, almost invisible. "You could say I'm older, obviously, in both body and thoughts. Serious, cold, stoic, heartless, those are many words used to describe me. My thoughts about myself? I don't have them. I don't simply have the time to think about myself. There are many things to worry about, like my sibblings for example."
Kotori was stunned by his answer. She didn't expect him to answer that way. But of all the things he said, one was the one that stunned her the most, "Heartless? Why would anyone call you heartless?"
He shook his head, still with that smile of his. "Sometimes is good to not know some things, don't you agree, Kotori?"
She tilted her head to the side, and pouted slightly, but agreed anyways. He was right. She should stop asking.
"Now, if I may, I have a question of my own." He said.
She looked at him and wondered, "Yes?"
"I've noticed you're very fond with Alit. Why is that?" He asked.
The green haired girl smiled a little. About Alit, huh? What could she say to answer his question. "Well, Alit is like a brother to me. I mean, we've been together for almost 3 years now. He had a hard life, and I couldn't simply ignore his needs. I suppose I still worry about him a lot, maybe because I'm afraid that something could go wrong again."
Alzex narrowed his eyes a little, now feeling curious himself. "Again?"
She chuckled and shook her head. "Sometimes is good to not know some things, isn't it?"
He gave her a small smile. "Yes, it is."
A happy cry was suddenly heard from a bit afar. "YES! I WON!"
They didn't have to look to know who that was. Who else could have such a cheery voice anyways?
"Congrats Alit!" Another voice said.
"To summarize, you did great!" A third one spoke.
The golden haired man smiled. "Looks like we finally found them."
Kotori chuckled. "Yeah," They then started walking towards her friends, but before reaching their earshot, Kotori told her companion. "It's kinda the way you feel towards your brothers. I feel that I must protect him from any harm, including the memories of his past."
Alzex looked at her and smiled a little. He then turned to were she was looking. He saw Alit grinning happily. The boy seemed to noticed them and waved his hand to catch their attention.
Alzex didn't have to ask what Kotori meant with her last statement. He already understood what she meant.
-Third Group-
They had waited for a while now. After a bit more minutes, they finally received the call they were waiting for. Now the three groups were ready to change Area. Zaxel's group was now directed towards the Games Area. Meanwhile, Alzex's group was coming here, to the Dueling Area. And they were now moving towards the Entertainment Area. This was going to be the last change, after this, the three groups were going to reunite at the entrance of the carnival.
Dark and Vector were walking side by side, talking lively. Soon after they officially met, Vec and Dark became almost instantly friends. Mist was walking quietly behind them. He was still angry and even more now that his brother was left with Yuma. And behind him were Xezla and Rio. They were also talking, for some reason, Xezla and Rio shared many tastes.
It seemed that the only one who wasn't enjoying anything at all was Mist. He had been scowling for the past three hours, wishing internally that this was just an awful nightmare, but he knew better; this was no dream nor nightmare. So at least, he wished that the day was over soon.
"Where should we go first?" Asked Vector, after reaching the entrance, directing towards the ones behind.
Rio and Xezla stopped to think. Where could be a good place to visit first?
However, Mist's answer was almost immediate.
"Home."
Xezla sighed at his cousin's cold demeanor. He understood that he was angry, but there was no need to ruin everyone's day.
"No, we can't go home yet, Mist-kun. There is still plently time to explore and we haven't even finished our hangout!" Vector replied cheerly.
Xezla wondered, was Vector so innocent that he didn't notice Mist's obvious hate, or was he just plain stupid?
"That's right, Black! There are lots of things to see!" Dark said with a grin.
Mist crossed his arms. He kept scowling. He never asked to share a whole day with a bunch of phonies, even when they called one of them his relative. He refused to call Yuma his relative. No way in any world.
Rio watched all of this in silence. A sudden idea crossed her mind. There was no way anyone could change Mist's perspective towards Yuma, anyone except Vector. If anyone was capable enough to know how to deal with people like Mist, that was definitely Vector. And what perfect time than now to leave the two of them together?
"Hey, Xezla, I heard of a new machine they're opening at the other side of this Area." She spoke.
Xezla eyed her curiously, now why would Rio suggest that now? That's when he noticed the look in Rio's eyes. She had a plan, and to make it work they needed to leave the boys alone. He grinned. "Oh, really? We should go see it!"
"Exactly my thoughts!" Rio agreed. She then turned towards the three boys. "Now, be good boys and enjoy yourself while we older ones go to see the new machine."
"We have just two years of difference! We're not little kids to be treated like that!" Dark protested.
However, the other two ignored him and left the three boys alone. That's when realization hit Mist. He was left alone, with his hyperactive cousin and a guy he was beginning to hate. Just perfect.
"Huh, looks like it's the three of us, then." Vector said, smiling. "I hope that isn't a problem with you." He turned towards the black haired boys.
"Of course not! It's even better now!" Dark exclaimed with a huge grin.
Mist huffed. He obviously disapproved the whole situation. He then started walking away, not even bothering to wait for the other two.
"H-hey, Mist-kun!" Vector exclaimed quickly following.
"You know, we're here with you, Black!" Dark yelled, also following.
However, the guys never noticed the stare two cloaked persons were giving them. A smirk formed in one of them. "Looks like we found them."
The other one nodded, agreeing.
-OoOoO-
Mist couldn't care less if he had lost the other two. He was perfectly fine alone. Now, if only he knew how to get out of that place. In his anger, he had gone deep in the Area, and forgot how to return back at the entrance.
He roamed carelessly around, trying to find if he recognize anything. But if anything, he felt he was getting even more lost. He thought of giving Dark a call, but then he remembered that if he did, Vector was going to be there too. He didn't want that. His pride wouldn't allow that either.
After a while, he just gave up. There was no way out of that maze. He thought that he might as well enjoy himself a little. Now that he was alone, he could freely do it. So off he went, going from place to place, thinking which one could be a nice ride.
He found himself excited when he found a roller coaster. He loved those rides, specially if they where huge as this one. He paid for it and entered the ride. The ride started and the screams of the people behind quickly followed. Some were of joy, so were of fear, he didn't really care. He found himself wanting to laugh, and he did, for he was alone and could do whatever he wanted.
But his laugh soon ceased, as he remembered his brother. Whenever they were in a roller coaster, his twin would scream, just as the ones behind. He hated those rides, saying they were dangerous. But Mist loved them, and whenever he wanted to go in one, Astral forced himself to follow him. Mist could always laugh at his twin's horrified face and at the end Astral would always scold him. Without his brother there, he felt somewhat lonely. He had always gone to every place with his twin.
"Why did you stop laughing? This is so fun!"
Mist startled upon hearing the voice. If he could have done so, he would have jumped out of the ride. He looked behind, only to find Vector there, with a huge grin in his face. Beside him was Dark, laughing. They were both enjoying the ride.
"What are you doing here?!" Mist yelled, feeling ashamed and angry at the same time.
"Just happened to see you by the roller coaster. Thought we might as well have some fun." Vector answered.
"Shh! The best part's coming! Raise your hands!" Dark exclaimed happily. Vector did as commanded, and so did the others in the ride, except Mist of course. They all screamed and laughed to no end.
Mist returned to his previous position, folding his arms. Way to ruin the ride for him. However, he felt something he has never felt before, except when he was with his brother. He felt joy. Don't get him wrong, he had his fun times with his cousin, but no one had ever made him feel the joy only his brother gave him. The loneliness he felt because of his brother's absence dissapeared. He found himself smiling at the situation.
He laughed again, he allowed himself to do so in front of them. He could threaten them at the end of the ride, but for now he was going to enjoy it. Just like every time he did when he was with his twin.
He didn't notice, but Dark smiled upon seeing his cousin laugh. They've been together for so many years, and he knew that almost no one had made Mist laugh like that. Astral and his mother where the ones who could make Mist feel so much joy. And now Vector. Dark glanced at Vector. The carrot top had his eyes closed and has laughing with the rest of the people. Dark gave a little smile, and mutrered a little 'thank you' he thought no one would hear.
But Vector did. He heard the thanks that were given to him. He didn't answer though. He knew that Dark was content as he was right now, he didn't want to creep him out. And Mist... He didn't know why, but he felt that somehow Mist was begining to feel more comfortable now. Maybe it was because of his laughter, or maybe because he was actually smiling in front of them. Vector could only wonder, what could have happened to him and his brother to make them so closed up? And Dark too. He knew that Dark also held a secret to himself. The Zexal Family was sure mysterious and he wanted to find out what was their secret.
But for now, he'll just enjoy the moment he was granted. He won't say alone because he knew they weren't alone. He saw Rio and Xezla back at the line, of course, they were watching over them. So typical of Rio, and then she wonders where did Shark's overprotective side comes from. He also noticed two other people. He wasn't sure who were they or what they wanted, but they were keeping an eye on them. More specifically, on the two black haired boys.
However, Vector decided he wouldn't alarm the other two. If he did, then he wouldn't ever know what those two cloaked persons wanted. He was going to be prepared in case anything happened.
-OoOoO-
When the ride finished, Mist quickly returned to his usual cold attitude. He threatened the other two (specifically Vector) to never say a word of what happened that day. They agreed (though Dark was giving a mischievous smirk), and the three then went to explore a bit more. Even though he was still scowling, Mist was now a bit more open towards conversation and occasionally would comment something of the topic spoken.
They went to many other places, until they reached the House of Mirrors. The place was really popular for its spooky appearance, and only the brave ones dared to go in, or in this case, the bored ones. Only the roller coaster had brought joy to Mist, but any of the other things only made him bored. And hearing the rumors of the House of Mirrors being spooky, he thought that maybe he could find some enjoyment in there.
The other two happily agreed, and they reached the entrance of the House. The place around was completely deserted and quiet, very surprising for being such a lively carnival. The three boys only shrugged and entered the House, thinking of what could possibly be so scary about the place. They'll admit, the entrance was kinda spooky, with all those webs and the broken curtains hanging from here and there. But aside from that, nothing else.
When they entered, they quickly found themselves surrounded by multiple mirrors, just as the name of the place suggested. The mirrors had different forms and shapes and each one gave a different version of its reflection. Some made them look tall, other short, other deformed, but nothing scary enough. Until they reached the next couple of mirrors. The reflections were beasts and monsters one would only find in nightmares. Now, that's probably what got people so scared, but not the three boys.
In fact, they could only find it boring. They walked for a bit more deeper into the place, but nothing managed to get their attention. That is, until Vector suddenly stopped and stared directly at one of the mirrors. Quickly noticing one was left behind, the other two turned to look at him. They frowned confused as to why he would stop. They returned in their steps until they reached Vector.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Dark asked.
However, Vector didn't answer. He seemed to be in a trance of some sort, staring directly at the mirror.
Mist frowned a bit more, and looked at the mirror to try to find what got Vector like this. The mirror was somewhat strange. The framework resembled a demonic-looking door. In the upper part it was written in dark words 'Lost Possession'. He couldn't quite get what it meant, so he looked down at the mirror itself. He saw nothing, except Vector's own reflection. But only for a quick moment he could see the reflection changed. Instead of seeing Vector, he saw a room of red. That startled him greatly. What in the world was going on?!
Dark noticed Mist reaction, and grew a little worried. "Black? What's wrong?"
Mist turned towards his cousin. "Didn't you see it? The reflection... It changed."
Dark tilted his head to the side, and stared the mirror directly. He soon seemed startled and looked back at his cousin. "It's true. But, how?"
"It's a lost possession. You wouldn't be able to see what the mirror truly holds because you haven't lost anything." Vector spoke, still staring at the mirror.
"What?" Dark asked completely confused.
"The mirror shows our most dearest lost possession. For you, the mirror it's just a mirror, but for us that have lost something... It reminds us of what we lost." He turned away from the mirror and eyed the other two. "Though actually it's just a trick, and a very good one at that."
"A trick?" Mist asked.
"Yeah. The mirror seems pretty normal to normal people, but one that has lost a dear one sees beyond the mirror. I think it has to do with the brain and an hologram programation. Not sure how it works." Vector explained.
The black haired boys looked again at the mirror, taking in what Vector just said. Well, it seemed pretty normal to them, except by the occasional flicking of the changing reflection. A sudden question rose in their head, but Dark was the first one to mouth it.
"Vector, you said 'us that have lost something'. You mean, you have lost something dear?"
Vector eyed him. He seemed like he didn't want to talk about it. He sighed and looked again at the mirror. His eyes saddened. "Yeah. I have. My parents..."
They were taken aback. They have never thought that Vector was orphan.
"I'm sorry, Vector. I couldn't ever imagine that could have happened to you." Dark spoke. He felt bad for Vector, imagining to lose his own parents scared him.
"How did it happen?" Mist asked.
Dark eyed him a bit angry. That was a really heartless question. Vector was obviously affected by his parents' death, asking that would just reopen the wound.
But it seemed that Vector didn't really mind the question, and if he did, he didn't show it. "They were murdered. Right in front of my eyes. I had never felt so useless like that time. I was there, and I couldn't do anything about it." He sounded angry at himself.
The other two widened their eyes completely stunned. Who could have been so heartless to kill a child's parents in front of him?!
Vector then continued talking, his look was somber. "After that, I wasn't the same. I became bipolar, and many people feared me for that. Somehow, rumors that I killed my parents started spreading. I was alone every place I went." He looked up and gave a small smile. "That is, until I met Yuma."
"Yuma?" Dark wondered. Mist narrowed his eyes, just hearing the name made him angry. But at the same time, he was curious. What was so great about Yuma anyways? He's just like every other person he met, right?
"Yeah. Yuma isn't like everyone else I knew. The first day I came to school, Yuma was the first one to ever walk up to me and introduce himself. I was surprised, I was sure everyone heard about the rumors. But the way Yuma acted made me think that maybe he didn't, and that's why he was being friendly with me. We started talking, and I felt like I finally had a friend. But at the same time I was afraid that if Yuma ever heard about the rumors, he would just leave like everyone else. And one day, it happened." Vector stopped, remembering that day.
"What? What happened?" Dark asked curiously.
Vector eyed him and gave a smile. "He found out, or so I thought. A group of guys older than us came up to us and started telling Yuma how could he be my friend. They told him I was a bipolar psycho and that I killed my own parents. I was stunned, and fearing that Yuma would deny me, I turned away. But what I heard took me by surprise. I remember it as if it had been yesterday. Yuma got really angry and started yelling 'You know nothing about him! Vector's a great guy and I don't care what all of you had been spreading around! I know its all lies because Vector's not that kind of guy! And what if he has issues? We all have them! In fact, I think he's even better than any of you!'"
The black haired boys blinked, surprised. "Did Yuma really said that?" Dark asked, now stunned.
Vector nodded and grinned. "Yuma knew all along the rumors, but he decided to ignore them and meet me first before coming to a conclusion. Which I was really grateful for. After that, I started meeting new people, and even though the rumors were still there, somehow I didn't care anymore. I feel like I owe Yuma my life. He saved me from my own monster, and ever since we became friends I feel I'm more in control of my mind."
"Wow. Now I just feel proud he's my cousin. Who would have thought little Yuma could be so deep!" Dark exclaimed with a smile.
Mist was surprised as well. Was Yuma really such a good person? Could he trust Yuma? For what Vector said, Yuma seemed just the kind of person Astral needed. But no. He couldn't risk it. He couldn't risk his brother like that again. He had promised himself to protect Astral, and he was going to do it. Before trusting Yuma, he had to prove him.
Vector then smiled at them. "We should go now. I'm sure Rio and Xezla are searching for us."
The black haired boys nodded and left the House of Mirrors. They were quietly walking for a little while, until Vector stopped again. The other two stopped and looked at the orange haired boy confused.
"Vector?" Dark asked, frowning.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Vector spoke, suddenly turning completely serious.
The other two were just plain confused. Weren't they together just now? Why would Vector ask such a question?
Suddenly, two cloaked figures appeared behind Vector. "You surprise me, kiddo. No one has even been able to notice us before." One of them said.
"As for who we are, you have no need to know. We will warn you though, you better stay away from this because you aren't who we are targeting." The other said.
Vector narrowed his eyes and turned to face them. "You think I'm just going to leave my friends behind? Don't be so stupid."
Dark and Mist were surprised by Vector's words. And now they were begining to feel a little worried. Who are those cloaked figures? Why did they want them?
"Just get out of the way, kiddo! Unless you want to suffer the consequences!" The first cloaked one yelled.
Vector's face turned somber, and a sadist smile started forming. "You dare to tell me what to do? You are the ones who are going to face the consequences! Back off before I lose control!"
If Dark and Mist were able to see Vector's face, they would surely backed off in pure fear. Luckily for them, Vector was giving them his back. His face was only seen by the two cloaked persons. One of them, the one who spoke, backed away a little. The second one, though, stayed in place. This one analized Vector cautiously.
"Hmm, orange hair, violet eyes, could your last name be Shingetsu of some sort?" The second cloaked one asked.
Vector growled a little. The fact that they recognised him meant that they probably knew his parents. "And what if it is?"
The person chuckled and shook his head slightly. "The rumors were true then. Such a sad little boy became a fiery beast. How sad that is."
Vector narrowed his eyes even more. He could feel it now, these two were somehow related to his parents' death. "Who are you?! What do you want?!"
The person slowly took away his hood, allowing the ones present to see his appearance. A man with grey hair and deep magenta eyes was seen. He had a sadist smile in his face and he had a dangerous aura around him. "As for who I am, I won't say. But I'm sure you'll recognize my patron's name. Don Thousand has send me here with the sole purpose of getting rid of the two boys you are protecting. Of course, I'm sure he'll find it satisfying if I get rid of you too."
Vector widened his eyes in shock. Don Thousand. Yes, he recognised that name. Deep in his memory he knew that man had to do with his parents' death, but sadly he couldn't remember a face or a clue that could lead him to what truly happened. But wait. Why did Don Thousand want to get rid of Dark and Mist? What is the purpose in doing so?
Without any warning, the man attacked Vector. Vector was fast to react though, and managed to block his attack. Soon a battle within the two started. The man was strong, but Vector was fast and skilled. Neither of the two wanted to give in, but their fight had to come to an end due to the murmuring of approaching people.
The man backed away and put his hood back on. He gave Vector a wicked smile as he said, "You have good fighting skills, but next time I won't be playing around. Be prepared." He turned towards his companion and with a shake of his head both walked away into the shadows.
Vector caught his breath and looked at where they had left. He now had a sensation that something horrible was going to happen. He didn't know when, but he was sure it was going to happen. He looked behind towards the other two boys and gave them an apologetic smile. "Sorry guys. Couldn't hold him back."
The other two were just way too shocked from what had happened a minute ago. Mist was the first one to react.
"Are you crazy?! That was dangerous! How does it occur to you to battle a man that's obviously so dangerous?!"
Vector smiled sheepishly, "Well, it's not like he gave me another option."
"Wow, I didn't know you were so good at fighting Vector!" Dark said in awe.
Vector grinned. "I took self-defense clases. Then I tried out some martial arts and boxing."
"That's awesome!" Dark exclaimed.
"Don't encourage him! What he did was really dangerous!" Mist yelled.
Vector smiled. He knew that Mist was just worried about him, and that made him happy. "Let's go now. We don't want to worry Rio and Xezla."
The two boys nodded and then the three left to search for the others. All the while Vector was thinking that he needed to find out who was this Don Thousand.
