Chapter 7

The next morning, Roderick walked to his next class feeling down. He still remembered being yelled at by Jane. He didn't looked where he was going. A group of jocks ran into him knocking him down. The Jocks laughed as they walked away. Roderick slowly adjusted his specs and slowly got up. He went in to his classroom and was greeted by his friend Alistair greeted him

"Hey Roderick" He said but Roderick kept looking down. Alistair knew that something was wrong.

"Roderick? Are you alright?" Alistair asked then Roderick slowly looked at him

"I'm alright. Don't worry" He said then looked down. Alistair was about to ask him again when suddenly the bell rang and the next teacher came in.

That afternoon, he walked to the choir room for the usual Glee Club meetings. He slowly walked inside trying not to look depressed. He saw all of them talking to each other. He took a seat just beside them then wore his headphones. Jane slowly looked at him with a remorseful face. She really felt bad at the way she treated him last night. She wanted to get up and say sorry to him but Mason interrupted her

"Jane? Are you going to the dinner tonight?" Mason asked her while looking at her. Roderick could hear them talk even though he wore his headphones. It made him even more depressed.

"Tonight? I don't know Mason. I am so tired. Maybe next time?" Jane said while looking at Roderick

"What's the matter?" Mason asked trying to get her to look at him.

"It's nothing." Jane said but Mason was not convinced

"Really. It's nothing. Alright. I'll go tonight" Jane said while holding his hand. Mason was convinced then Rachel and Kurt came in

"Who's ready for some music?" Rachel said enthusiastically and all of them paid attention to them.

"It's Roderick and Jane's duet. Take the stage you two" Kurt said as he and Rachel took a seat.

Roderick's face was blank. He didn't want to do this right now. Jane was even worse. She was panicking. She and Roderick was not in good terms right now so it was impossible to make a duet with him.

"Sorry Ms. Berry and Mr. Hummel but I have a sore throat" Jane said trying to act like her throat was hurting. This made Roderick feel even worse

"I have a headache too so I can't sing" Roderick added and all of them wondered what happened to those two. Both teachers didn't bought their act.

"Come on you two. Just sing a song. Do you guy have any problems with each other?" Kurt asked them while looking at the both of them.

Jane and Roderick just managed to shake their head and they slowly walked out to the stage. Jane and Roderick picked "Say Something" By Christina Aguilera and A great big world

(Jane)

Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one, if you want me to
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

(Roderick)

And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all

And I will stumble & fall
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl

Before they sang the chorus, Jane looked at him at the brink of tears. She was filled with guilt while Roderick tried not to feel even more depressed. As they began singing the chorus, they tried not to make eye contact. The other glee Club members noticed it

"What is happening to those two. They barely looking at each other" Kitty said and Spencer nodded

"I wondered what happened between them." Spencer said to her

(Both)

Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

(Jane)

And I will swallow my pride
You're the one that I love
And I'm saying goodbye

(Roderick)

Say something, I'm giving up on you
And I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
And anywhere I would've followed you (Ooh-oh)
Say something, I'm giving up on you

Say something, I'm giving up on you
Say something...

As Roderick finished, Jane was on the brink of a meltdown. Roderick put the microphone down and wanted to walk away when Jane grabbed his hand. All of them looked at them curiously

"Look Roderick, about last night…" Jane was interrupted by Roderick

"It's alright Jane. I'm not mad or anything" Roderick said with a sad tone while Jane knew that he was hurting inside. Roderick pulled his hand away and took his bag

"Sorry Ms. Berry and Mr. Hummel but I gotta go home early. " Roderick said and Rachel nodded.

As Roderick walked away, Jane looked at him and tears started to course down her face. Mason went to her side trying to comfort her

"Why are you crying Jane?" He asked her in a concern tone

"It's nothing. Sorry Mason but I can't go to the dinner tonight. I just remembered that I have something to do" Jane said as she tried to walk away but Mason gripped her hand

"Seriously Jane. You will not be crying if it's nothing" Mason said to her

"You're nice Mason but I can't do this anymore. I can't be with someone that I don't love anymore." Jane said and Mason was shocked

"Are you breaking up with me Jane?" Mason asked while the others looked shocked

"Sorry Mason. I am truly sorry" Jane said with a sad tone as she walked away with tears.
