Hope you guys like this chapter, we're getting a little Dotty in the end here :)
Letty wasn't quiet when it came to sex. She wasn't one of those girls who made completely unnecessary noises because that's what guys wanted to hear, but when someone was hitting that spot deep inside her, Letty was vocal about it. And Jacob was good in bed, so she wasn't quiet at all when he had her with her legs hooked up behind his shoulders and was driving into her hard and fast. She pulled herself up to meet his thrusts, her walls tightening around him as she came closer to the edge.
"Shit, Let," Jacob grunted as she pulled him over the edge with her. He collapsed on the bed beside her as they both breathed heavily, basking in the afterglow of the third round they had been through today. Letty recovered first and grinned over at Jacob, sitting up and pulling her hair away from her face, into a messy ponytail. Jacob watched as she stood, bending over to find her underwear and bra that was scattered around the room. He had a perfect view of her toned ass as she bent over again to pick up her shirt. "Just…Stay right like that," he called out. Letty straightened up immediately, shooting the finger at him. Jacob laughed and shook his head, sliding out of bed and pulling on a pair of boxers. "You want a drink?" He called over his shoulder as he made his way down his hallway to his lounge. Letty did up the buttons on her shorts and joined him in the kitchen.
"Nah, man, I'm good," Letty shook her head. "I'm going out tonight with the rest of the team, gotta keep my head on."
"You racing?" Jacob asked as he drank Scotch from the tumbler in his hand.
"Nah, it's just a…Anniversary thing. We go out for dinner, just chill together," Letty replied, turning the keys in her hand over. Jacob watched her for a moment, wondering whether he should pursue the conversation but Letty was starting to back toward the door. "I'll text you later, yeah?"
"I've got a date, with that Bonnie chick," Jacob grinned.
"Try not to stare at her tits for too long, I know she's got big ones, but chick's don't like that," Letty smirked at him as she opened the front door. Jacob came over and raised his eyebrows.
"Hey, Let?" He looked slightly nervous. "I really like this chick." Letty shook her head slightly, a look of disbelief on her face.
"Then why you having sex with me? She's going to run for the hills if she finds out you're fooling around with another chica while dating her," she noted. Jacob gave a one shouldered shrug.
"I dunno, you're damn good in bed, Let," he grinned. "Now, if you were keen on a relationship, you know you'd be my first pick." Letty's smile faded slightly and she reached up and kissed him on the cheek.
"You know that's not what I'm looking for," her voice was quiet. Jacob's grinned widened ever so slightly.
"I know, I know. You're just too good to be true," he played with a strand of hair that was curled underneath her chin.
"That's what all the boys say," Letty punched him lightly in the arm before backing away from him. "If shit is going well with Bonnie, don't you dare call me boy. She's ready to give you what I won't!" Letty turned on her heel, shoving her hands into her short pockets and walked away quickly. She heard the door shut behind her and her eyebrows furrowed as she made her way to her car. She knew that Jacob liked her, and a part of her liked him as well—obviously, or she wouldn't be having sex with him. He was sweet, funny, good in bed. He hadn't known her her whole life so he didn't know certain things about her that would make her tick, and she liked that. He was a fresh page from the team who had surrounded her for as long as she could remember.
And he had been exactly what she needed to put Dom behind her.
Jacob and Letty had come to a mutual understanding a couple of months ago when they had first started fooling around that they weren't going to become involved in each other in the common sense, she had said outright that she wasn't interested in a relationship. At first neither had he, but after a month he had said that he would be keen for a relationship if she was. Letty had straight away reminded him of their agreement and he had backed off, although that didn't stop him from the occasional comment. And then this girl Bonnie had come into the picture, a pretty strawberry blonde, that Jacob worked with. He had been talking about her for a few weeks, and now that he finally had a date, Letty could see their arrangement coming to an end.
Letty pressed down the accelerator on her car as she sped out of the apartment blocks parking lot. She would be sad for their rendezvous' to stop, but being with Jacob had already accomplished her main reason for starting.
Helping her get over Dom.
"I swear this is the only time of year I see you in a dress," Dom's voice was soft behind Letty. She jumped slightly as he put his hand on her lower back. "You look nice." Letty wasn't sure how she was meant to respond as he guided her into the restaurant, so she said nothing at all. Everyone followed them, Mia noticing the small interaction between her brother and her bestfriend and a smile creased her mouth. "Where have you been all day?" Letty rolled her eyes and glanced up at him as they reached their table.
"None of your business," she replied, moving away from Dom and taking a seat between Mia and Vince. Dom followed her with his eyes, thinking about his earlier statement to her. She did look nice—she looked beautiful, actually. She was wearing a white, sleeveless dress that contrasted with her tanned skin, the baby-doll cut top clinging to her breasts and the hem finishing several inches above her knees, showing her toned legs. She wore a pair of strappy gold sandals—definitely the most girly outfit he had seen her wear in a while. When he looked away to speak to Leon, he didn't notice her eyes travelling across the table to him. He was wearing a pair of black jeans that clung to his narrow hips and ass, and a pressed white shirt that had several buttons down his chest undone.
He looked pretty damn good himself.
He always did.
"You doing okay, babe?" Letty murmured to Mia. Mia looked over at her friend and Letty saw the sheen of tears in her eyes.
"Yeah, I like that we do this every year," the girl replied, although her voice wavered slightly. Brian slipped his arm around his girlfriend and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "They wouldn't have wanted us to be all sappy," Mia sniffed and gave a rueful smile. "Let's eat!"
"You heard the lady!" Brian grinned around the table at the small gathering. "Let's order!" The food and alcohol came steadily, the boys each ordering two or three dishes and the girls stealing from their plates as they went. Jesse got up once to have a cigarette and came back to find his share of garlic bread was gone, and his eyes immediately fell on Letty.
"You took my garlic bread," he stated. Letty looked at him, eyes widened and trying to give him an innocent look.
"Moi?"
"You bitch," Jesse picked up a chip from his plate and threw it at her. "You would steal everyone's garlic bread if you could." Letty laughed and shrugged, and then reached across the table and grabbed the last piece of Dom's as if proving the point. Dom went to slap her hand but she moved too quickly, biting into the crunchy bread and giving him a cheeky smile. As the meal drew to a close, Dom looked around the small group of friends who had been with him through thick and thin. Vince, Leon and Jesse were his boys, they stumbled through every mishap he went into, covering his back and often needing him to cover theirs. Mia, his baby sister, who had been so strong when they were younger, and who had put herself through school and still came back to help with the family business rather than going on to bigger and better things. Brian, the boy who had come around a few years ago for a job and then fallen in love with his sister and proved himself over and over again that he was worthy of her. And then there was Letty, who at one time he had only looked to as one of the boys, or as part of the family, and now he was seeing as so much more, but who had always been there for him and his sister. He didn't know where they would be without her.
"So, I would just like to start with thanks for everyone for coming—"
"Shit, man, you make it seem so formal," Letty grunted as she drank from her beer.
"Shut uuup!" Leon threw a handful of chips at her, the rest of the table grinning. "The bro is making a speech!"
"Thank you, Leon," Dom tried to give Letty a reprimanding look but when he saw the chip stuck in Letty's hair he couldn't keep a straight face. "So as I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted, was that you guys—minus Brian—knew my parents for pretty much as long as I did. And they all loved you like family, and I know you loved them back." The smile on Letty's face dried up quickly as she knew the harder part of the speech was coming. "And I know they would be proud to know that we were all still together. So, to dad and mum, Tony and Amita, I just want to say happy thirty-sixth wedding anniversary!"
"Hear, hear," Vince raised his bottle and the team clinked their drinks together. The dinner had taken on a more serious tone, even though they had all known the reason they had been there. They left shortly afterwards, Dom paying the bill on the business's credit card. They had all come in separate cars, apart from Brian and Mia, and the succession of expensive cars winding through the LA streets back to their home. Everyone made their way up to their rooms quietly, knowing that the mood of the house was no in a sociable mood. Letty stayed downstairs, not bothering with turning the light on the kitchen as she grabbed herself another bed from the fridge. There was a noise behind her and she turned around to see Dom there. His face was impassive and he was regarding her with eyes that weren't really seeing her.
"Hey, man," Letty's voice was quiet. "You okay?" Dom licked his lower lip slowly before blinking and his eyes seemed to adjust to see her for the first time.
"Yeah," he grunted, his voice huskier than usual. Letty grabbed another beer out of the fridge, cracking off the lid and walking over until she was standing directly in front of him, only millimetres away.
"Here," she murmured. "Have a drink with me." Dom swallowed hard and took the beer bottle from her. Letty put a hand on his arm, her fingers sliding over his skin for a moment, trying to give him some comfort through her touch. "Come on, Dom," her grip tightened and she tugged him toward the kitchen table. He sat down at the table, cradling the beer bottle between his hands. She pulled her chair around so that she was sitting right next to him. Her hand left his arm, running up to his shoulder and massaging the tension there. "You don't need to be so strong, Dom. No one else is here…" her voice trailed off as he looked up at her. His eyes shone with tears and Letty felt her heart squeeze for him. Without thinking twice she leaned forward, both arms going around his muscular shoulders and pulling him into her smaller frame. After a moment of tension, she felt him give a shake, and then she felt him shift, his burying itself in her neck and hair.
And then the tears came.
