Summery: Yugi has yet to move on from the Pharaohs passing despite five years going by. One day, however, a new student arrives and changes that.

Beep Beep Beep

Yugi woke to the sound of his alarm clock. He lazily picked up his arm (which had fallen sometime in the night and was dangling on the side) and shut the annoying thing up. He got out of bed slowly, taking in his surroundings slowly like he did every morning. Sighing he got of bed and got ready for the day.

It had been five years since the pharaoh had left for the afterlife, and Yugi had yet to move on. It had seemed all of friends did, just not him. Anzu had achieved her life time dream and was now studying dance at a supreme dance academy in New York, and Honda had gone off to become a lawyer. Joey had decided he'd move next to his sister and help out there, deciding he'd had enough of school and was fine with having only a high school education. So that left him. What came of him? One might ask. The answer was simple; he was studying to become an archeologist, not to mention and Egyptologist as well.

To anyone it would have looked like he had moved on, but when it was night or he was all alone, the sorrow, the loneliness, the feeling of being incomplete, all of those and more would surface. They'd threaten to overwhelm him, and would often times succeed. He knew Atem would never want him to be like this, but he couldn't help himself. Everything just felt hollow and empty, void of emotion. He reverted back to that shy, friendless, ignored boy he used to be, before the pharaoh came. The only difference now was that he didn't have to worry about bullies as much, they'd all grown up.

Once done with his regular and boring routine that was his morning he walked to the front of his dorm, opened its door, and went out, locking it as he did so.

He didn't have any classes until 11 o' clock, but he still set his alarm to eight. Why he did this he wasn't sure. Perhaps to fill the void he felt, perhaps to make everything seem like it used to be, whatever the reason, it needn't matter, it wasn't important.

He walked feeling the ever present despair, as it dampened his mood and greyed his once bright and vibrant world. He sat in his gloom, smiling when others walked by, only to drop it once they passed. His smiles were never real, at least not since the pharaoh died, and they never reached his eyes. He hadn't laughed in a long time and he had forgotten how it felt to feel happiness.

His friends had given up on getting him out of his depression, he knew, but that never stopped them from coming around every once in a while. There was once a time when that would have made him smile, knowing how loyal they were, whenever the time was, it was gone now.

He looked to his watch. It read 10:45. He got up and headed to class keeping his head down. As usual he was the first to arrive.

The class was like any of your other standard college classroom. Rows of long, singular, tables; each row elevated higher than one in front, split in the middle for a walkway. The walls of the room were a pale and boring white and the floor the same, only it was made of marble. The teacher's desk in the middle of the room right in front of the walk way was empty.

Yugi made his way to the farthest chair in the right corner on the right side of the room on the first row. He sat there and waited. Soon the other students started to pile in. He had long since established that he'd rather sit alone than with anyone, not wanting to let other in, not wanting to know the pain of losing them just as he did the pharaoh. So in every class, in everyplace he went on the campus, he avoided or was avoided. In all his classes there was at the very least one chair separating him from another student and he didn't mind.

The teacher started the lesson pulling up a power point with notes that needed copying. Some of the students groaned, but Yugi, along with the teacher, ignored it. They were about a quarter of the way through the lesson the door to the classroom flew open and a frantic student came running in.

"I'm so sorry for being late," A smooth, yet frantic baritone voice said.

Yugi stared in astonishment. There, standing just feet away from him was a man with rich, tanned skin and stunning crimson eyes. His hair was identical to Yugi's own had in not been for the golden bangs that shot through it like lightning bolts or crimson trimming, wares Yugi's own bangs simply framed his face and his own was trimmed in amethyst; sharing the same sloppy, star shape look. Colors seemingly impossible with the same impossible shape, yet all completely natural. His face held sharp and handsome features and even though he was flustered and out of breath, he still held an aura full of confidence and grace.

"It's quite alright," the teacher said. "I suppose you're our new transfer student. Well please introduce and tell us a little bit about yourself."

"Right." He said. "My name is Atemu Sennen and I transferred here from my home in Egypt. My father runs a very successful company known as Sennen Incorporated. My Mother passed when I was three."

"All right, now that formalities are out of the way would you please sit in any of the available chairs," The teacher said.

Atemu looked around at all the possible places he could sit. Some people were mouthing the words "sit next to me" while other simply gestured, more out of kindness than anything else. Then his crimson orbs settled on a student who looked stunningly similar to himself, and noticed he seemed exiled by all the other students, left to sit alone. He made his way to the student and asked "This seat taken?"

The smaller looked to his left and franticly went to move his stuff out of the way since he put them there so as not to let them bother with his note taking. Atemu chuckled and situated himself beside the smaller.

"So what's your name?" Atemu asked.

The boy looked shocked for a few seconds, why, Atemu didn't know, but he shrugged it off as the other male started speaking.

"Yugi Muto," Yugi said extending a hand to Atemu.

Atemu smiled and took the offered hand.

The rest of the class went undisturbed after that. Atemu and Yugi would converse some, but not much.

The bell sounded the end of the class and the students gathered their stuff and filed out, heading for lunch.

"So would you like to have lunch with me?" Yugi asked putting his stuff up. "You know since you don't really know anyone." He added.

Many would think that Yugi would never be one to hide his emotions well, what with his round innocent eyes that should convey every emotion that flashed through Yugi, but those people would be wrong. No, in fact, he was great at hiding them should he truly wish. And right now he was feeling a swarm of emotions, but to Atemu he looked calm and collected. The main felling being confusion, wondering how it was that he was even here, the same spirit (for he know it really was Atemu, his Mou Hitori No Baku) that he saw leave through the gates of the afterlife with his own eyes. There were other feelings as well, feelings such as sorrow because he didn't remember him or the wonderful things they did together, but above all happiness, happiness because Atemu had returned.

"Sure" Atemu said with a smile.

Yugi got the rest of his stuff and went to the cafeteria, Atemu in tow. The two talked and laughed and had a wonderful time. Yugi couldn't remember the last time he had felt like this, well he could but that had felt like lifetimes ago.

"So where you staying," Yugi asked.

"Umm…" Atemu trailed off as he looked for his dorm number on a slip of paper. "Dorm 58. You?" Atemu said.

"Really? Dorm 58? What a coincidence." Yugi said finishing his lunch.

"What do you mean," Atemu inquired.

"Well that just so happens to be my dorm." Yugi replied.

"Cool! Now we'll get to know each other even more!" Atemu exclaimed.

Yugi, to hide his blush, got up and threw his trash away before replying, "Great!"

~000000~

Two months had passed since then, and Yugi was getting ready for a party Seto had decided to throw to get the old gang back together. This shocked Yugi at first when Joey had told him about, but he decided it was some way to get his title back, seeing as none of them had grown out of Duel Monsters. Only now that he was getting ready did he remember not once telling Joey or anyone else for the matter about his latest development.

"Hey Atemu?" Yugi asked.

"What is it Little One," Atemu said, standing rather close to Yugi, which did not go unnoticed.

Yugi fought down a blush and both the nickname and the closeness. Though it had been a mouth since Atemu and started calling him that, he still was not used to it. "I was wondering if you would like to come with me to the party, I know it's last minute, but I'd like my friends to meet you." Yugi said.

"Of course Little One," Atemu all but purred.

"Great! Now get ready before you make us late," Yugi said glad to finally show everyone just who had come back.

Now that Yugi thought about it no one he talked to mentioned his sudden turn about, and he realized he friends never brought it up because they were afraid that they would crush it by their simple question. The time to smile at their loyalty had come once again, and smile he did.

He and Atemu Finished getting ready and were now driving back to Yugi's home, birthplace, and place of wonderful and frightening memories; a small little city by the name of Domino. They pulled up to a rather large mansion and found, to their surprise, that they were the last ones to arrive, despite arriving on time. They walked up the extravagant walk way to the front door and Yugi rang the doorbell, when no one opened it he just decided to let himself in.

It was odd he was sure that at least a maid or butler would have opened for them, if not Mokuba. When he entered he found it to be quite. They looked around and just as Atemu was going to ask if Yugi was sure that this was the place they heard feint music in the distance. They fallowed and opened the door to the large backyard.

How they missed it neither new, but boy was it a party. There were long tables with white table cloth covering them filled with foods of all sorts and verities. Streamers and balloons were everywhere. A dance floor was set up in the middle complete with a DJ and his equipment. Surprisingly the DJ was none other than Joey himself.

"Yo Yug' and…" Joey trailed off, staring.

Everyone present looked as well and did the same as Joey.

Atemu shifted uncomfortable and said loud enough for everyone to here (not meaning to of course) "Um, Yugi why are your friends staring at me like Anubis has just declared my ruler of the dead?" Atemu asked.

Yugi laughed, oh how he couldn't have said words that hit closer to home than that.

After his quick laughing fit he said, "Atemu I'd like you to meet my friends, Friends I'd like you to meet Atemu" Yugi said gesturing from Atemu to his friends and visa versa.

They just stared.

"Nice to meet you. Yugi has told me many stories about you all," Atemu said bowing slightly.

Before anyone else could say anything further Ryou entered smacking right into poor Yugi.

"Yugi!" The albino exclaimed tackling Yugi in a hug. "It's been so long! How have you been," Ryou said a deeper meaning hidden within Ryou's question.

Ryou and Yugi had gotten closer after the pharaoh and Thief left, comforting each other when they left. True Ryou hated the fact that Bakura did all those things, but the albino couldn't bring himself to hate the Thief himself. Despite everything Ryou found himself missing the Thief more than ever.

"I'm fine I'd like you to me-"Yugi was cut off when a gruff voice and a strikingly familiar albino came in, black coat and all.

"You'll never guess who I found." The albino said with excitement.

"Who" Ryou asked.

"Marik" Bakura answered.

"No not you two! You'll burn the whole house down!" Atemu suddenly piped up.

"Well, if it isn't the Pharaoh," Bakura sneered.

"I thought I told you to stop calling me that when we were kinds," Atemu grumbled.

"And I thought you'd learn by now that I don't listen to you, so I guess we're both wrong," Bakura retorted.

Atemu simply rolled his eyes, arms crossed over his chest.

Just then Marik and Malik entered. Marik smirked when his eyes landed on Atemu.

"Bakura you never told me the Pharaoh was here," He said.

"Shut it Psycho, and don't you start Thief," Atemu said, adding the last part when Bakura's mouth had opened to reply.

"Of course oh mighty Pharaoh" They said in unison, sarcasm dripping off each word, completing it with a bow.

"Can someone tell me what going on, please," Yugi said confused as to why they would use the names they had given each other if they had forgotten about their adventures and the Millennium Items.

"Well shrimp that's an easy story to tell." Bakura said.

"You see me, Marik, and the great Pharaoh here grew up together."

Atemu growled at the use of the nickname.

Bakura just smirked and continued," Marik and I had known each other for as long as I can remember. We did, after all, grow up on the streets together. Anyway when we broke into our dear old Pharaoh's house that's when we properly met. Course we made up some sap story and he let us go. After that we sort of just hung around." He shrugged at this. "Then his dear old father found out about us and adopted us. After living in there we saw what the Pharaoh here had to do and well that where the name was born." Another shrug.

"What does Atemu do?" Ryou asked.

"Take over the family company." He said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Then his eyes narrowed, "Wait a minute how'd you know his name if we never told you?" He asked suspiciously.

"Oh, that never came up?" Ryou asked breaking out into a nervous sweat.

"No" was the simple answer.

"Enough!" Atemu said rubbing his temples to easy his oncoming head ache. "I thought we were here for a party."

"The Pharaoh's right," Marik said. "Hey, DJ turn on the music!"

Joey shook himself out of his stupor and started up the music after stopping it when he had seen Atemu. Immediately after Atemu, Bakura, and Marik left to go dance or something of that sort Yugi, Ryou, and Malik had been bombarded by questions. All of which were answered in time.

After that everyone had a wonderful time, and the party went off without any more problems. Atemu and even convince Yugi to dance with him… to a slow song. Needless to say it ended with Yugi's head rest on Atemu's muscle toned chest, the taller's arms wrapped around the smaller's waist. Soon however the party came to end with one Seto Kaiba down on one knee asking for Joey Wheeler's hand in marriage, and said blonde accepting merrily.

Atemu and Yugi drove home back to Tokyo talking and laughing at the events that had unfolded during the party before Seto's proposal.

They arrived at their dorm at a little past 12, tired from the night's fun. Yugi didn't even bother with taking of his clothes for something more suitable for sleeping and instead made a b-line for his bed where he plopped down with a satisfied grunt. He positioned himself on the bed and was beginning to doze off when he felt it dip as another person laid next to him.

He opened his eyes and turned to find himself staring into crimson orbs. Atemu smirked and snaked his arm around Yugi's waist. Yugi gasped in shock as he was pulled closer to Atemu, his face now mere inches away from Atemu's chest. Yugi began to blush at this close proximity which earned a chuckle from Atemu making Yugi's blush darken.

He then bent his head so that his breath world ghost over Yugi's neck.

"You're adorable when you blush," He said causing a shiver of delight to run through Yugi.

Atemu could no longer resist the temptation of Yugi's lips as he place a hand under Yugi's chin and tilted Yugi's face towards his own. Yugi was now a beet red which, in Atemu's eyes, made him more beautiful than ever. He leaned close and pressed their lips together. Yugi melted into the kiss as he wrapped his arms around Atemu's neck.

Atemu pulled away and smiled at Yugi.

"good night Aibou." He said lovingly.

"Good night Ate" Yugi replied as they fell into a peaceful slumber.
