Moyasu Part II
Raph didn't know what he was thinking, standing out under the star speckled sky. The full moon illuminated the valley. Taking away all darkness and leaving a softly silky light. He knew him WASTN' thinking. Daddy had set up few but very clear of them was to never leave the house.
But right now that didn't matter. Nothing did.
Not the tears pouring out of his eyes, or the sobs burning in the back of his throat. His eyes falling on the row of clay pots. Clay pots he had personally seen Leonardo spend hours working on, earning a downpour of praises from their father. That's how it always was.
"I'm so proud of you Leonardo."
"Raph stop that! You're going to hurt Mikey!"
"Very good Leonardo, thank you."
"What are you doing?! Why can't you do as I say?!"
"Thank you for bathing Michelangelo."
"Don't touch Donnie! Stay away from him you jerk!"
"Please tend to Donatello, he is getting warm again."
"Why don't you do as I say?!I'm in charge! "
"Very good Leonardo."
"Don't be stupid Raph!"
"I couldn't be prouder-"
A frustrated scream burned in the back of his throat, his foot shooting up, slamming against thin poorly made ceramics. Crumbling into the tall grass, his fist slamming into the next then the other each one falling and breaking. Kill them; kill the feelings, the hurt the ache. Everything.
Make the pain go away,
His fist hit air, the force sending him swinging around, and his body with it. Hitting the grass on his hands and knees. A sob escaped his mouth as his hand went up to wipe his eyes furiously. Knees going up to rest against his chest as his hands and feet continued to ache. His sobs next to nothing in the expanse of the little valley they lived in.
Trapped
He was trapped here
"Its ok baby."
Raph's hands went to his face, smothering his eyes as the tears ran through his fingers. He could still feel a soft hand rubbing his arms, cradling him. When he was too angry to function. When Leo's shouts grew too much for him. Soft baby blue eyes that matched Mikey's smiling down on him, skin as soft as Donnie's. Her hand trailing down the corners of his eyes to catch the tears.
""We love you so much Raphael. WE love you."
Despite himself, despite his own well knowing, his hand went to rest on his face. As though hoping to catch the ghost of his mother's hands, "M-Mama." he whimpered, lowering his face back into his hands and to the soft cool dirt. Hands that had started to grow so weak they could no longer hold him, or even hold the smallest of them. Shaking with effort as they continued to stroke his face, words coming out in weakened gasps, impossible words, Raph had to just hold her hand to keep it up. But her smile was always there, as was her promise
"One day, after I leave, a Tenshi will see how much I love you. She will go to Amaterasu and beg for you. To give you a light in the darkness. Your own personal moon. To replace the disgraced Tsukuyomi. A moon to fill the valley, your own personal protector with wings of knives. To protect you and all your brothers."
How much longer did she live after that?
The next day? walking into her room, her hand cold, as he tried desperately tried to hold on to hers as Leo tried to pull him back. But their explanations couldn't be heard, not above the sobbing Donatello. He didn't understand why he wasn't allowed to be near his mother. Why his father laid her on that wooden alter, why he set her on fire. No matter how Daddy held him, and tried to soothe his sorrow.
all he knew was that his mother was gone, buried deep in the earth he now lay on
and he was all alone

"You ok Kenta?"
If Raph had been an amateur, he probably would have fallen off the roof he was repairing in shock. But instead the surprise channeled over his skin in a shiver before turning from his work to his helper. Perching his weight on the wall itself and not the wooden shingled roof (he had spent hours reshingling the entire roof).Daiki was holding up a rather large rock from his spot on the ladder. Though Raph got along pretty well with all the villagers and the warriors who protected them, he got along with Daiki pretty a bit more than them. A orange Neko with tied back black hair, who was well respected among the village, Dorinbo's' second in command (despite his young age) and mentor to Leonardo (actually, Raph wasn't sure Daiki KNEW he was one of Leo's mentors) and the head of the stable, not only that but the samurai had stories on his newest brothers.
And were they good
But Daiki was one of the few villagers who chose to call him by his 'given' name of Kenta (given by his mother to spare him the prejudice of being suspected a foreigner). It brought a certain level of comfort to hear that name.
Raph leaned down and lifted the rock into his hands, setting it on the wooden shingles (who had come up with using rocks on roofs to displace heat and 'maintain' temperature'? he had no freaking idea), looking down to Daiki for a moment, "I'm fine, I just didn't sleep well."
"Because of your argument with Hideaki?"
Shit, he couldn't stop himself from flinching, taking the next rock to slide in place, "We were that loud?"
"Well, you were that loud. I can only assume it was an awkward night for you two without your family."
"Nah, I went to sleep in the village storage shit hole. Whatever you guys call it."
"It is just a storage shit hole. Were you trying to give your brother some space?"
Why were they even still talking about this? Raph shot him a look he hoped would tell the older Neko to drop it, but the dark eyes looking back at him remained calm, simply holding the next stone out for him to take. A growl vibrated through his throat before picking it up and setting it in place, "I wanted to give us both a chance to cool off. "
"Have you?"
"Yeah, that's' why I'm over there right now" before sending Daiki another glare. Despite the chilled air, his skin burned with exertion from his work. With a groan he reached off and peeled off his red sweat soaked top before pressing to his face to collect the sweat off his brow and tossing it down below ( he could hear the faint whistle in the distance , hopefully it wasn't that old frog again, she creeped him the hell out), "Cause he forgave me for screaming at him ,and I forgave him for being a brat."
"Kenta, I have more brothers and sisters then I can count, older and younger with one on the way-"
"Wasn't yer ma JUST pregnant" How was that even possible?
"I gave up trying to figure that out. But the point is I know what it's like to have younger siblings. And I've seen you with Michel-chan, Leonardo is always complaining about how you always stand up for your youngest breaking the rules. Do you not think such a double standard might hurt Hideaki?"
He shook his head, fighting the annoyed smirk on his face, "Yeah cause it's the same. It's completely the same. They're practically twins, ALL little brothers are the same aren't they? Just like how people can't tell me and Usagi apart."
"I did not mean-'"
Raph slammed another rock in place, if only to interrupt Kenta's thought, reaching for the next, "I've spent the last ten years of this miserable life trying to keep him safe and healthy, Do you have any how many times I broke something trying to keep HIM safe from muggers?! OR bullies?! Or crazed fevered customers he just HAD to help without Leatherhead around?! How many nights I had nightmares about waking up to a dead cold brother?! "His hand went to the wall as he vaulted down. The last thing he needed to do was fall off the roof and punch some idiot for laughing at him, "When Ma was out, WHO was the one who made him eat? When he was scared, WHO assured him that he was going to be ok?! When he would try and tear the skin off his wrists, WHO was the one who pinned him down so he wouldn't hurt himself!? WHO held him every DAM time he got when he was sick?! WHO helped raise him?! WHO protected him in a forest of demons-"
"The life of a single mother is brutal."
Raph glared up at Daiki, if looks could kill ,the lands population probably would have been cut in half. But Daiki's smile was soft, patient as anyone who had a million siblings should be, "Well? IS that not your point?"
"I'm not his MOM, don't even say that. Ma raised us. She's the only mother we ever had." He snatched his shirt back off the ground before resting it on the back of his neck,
"You SOUND like a mother. You are almost as bad as Leonardo, and I am quite sure I saw you running through your yard in a apron-"
"It was my grandma's," he bit, the chill of the air returning now that his labor had ended. His wrung out his shirt before abandoning it and snatching his happi off the ground, and pulling it on over his torn shell and bare chest, "Don was having a bad day, and it cheers him up to see that thing. I've done it since we were," he forced a breath through his lungs before sighing, "Since we were kids, since I used to carry him on my hip, his tiny arms used to hug my neck so tight, it-" he paused, "-It was how I knew he was getting tired. He would try so hard to stay awake till Ma got home from a Bounty. Back when she still did it. His tiny hands holding on to the straps of my mask. He was….4? 5? It was always so damn hard to tell how old we actually were though." his hand found a place against his face, "I…remember when the circus came to Horyu, Don made me promise to take him…I mean…what 11 year old doesn't want to see the circus? He missed it every year cause every time that freak show came to town, he'd get sick. It was the one year he wasn't, and he was never allowed to go anywhere alone so Hayate-" he paused, a ripple going across his lips, "A friend offered to take him, but you know, I was the one who promised. I lost track of time in the dojo and I picked him up from work too late. By the time we got to the parade, it was too crowded. The poor runt couldn't see over them. I thought he was going to ring me out….but he said he didn't blame me….he never does….so…sat him on my shoulders so he could see…."
"How is it you've always been so freakishly tall for your age?"
"I used to tell Don I made a deal with a akuma to suck the height out of him so I would get taller. He honestly believed me for like 4 years. I still think believes me cause everyone once in a while I'll catch him trying to get an exorcism ready and trying to stick these pieces of paper to my shell. A gouda?"
"O-fouda?"
"yeah, I can't tell if he was concerned for my soul, or just wanted to get some height back." a weak laugh escaped his lips, his shell touching the wall behind him as he slowly slid down, the sound of his shell scraping against wood barely fell on his ears slowly meeting the ground with his fingers pinching the bridge between his eyes
"Your mother always told me you are rather hard on your younger brother."
"You try having a 'good brother' with an attitude problem. Its the stupidest, confusing problem-"
"Your mother also said you were ten times worse at his age."
"I could of been worse,"
"Your mother also said you lost your pants one night from drinking too much."
"My Ma has to STOP telling you stories," and Raph had to find out how MA found, " and I was 16. Don just doesn't GET IT. He never DOES." his hand slapped the side of the building to force out his frustration, before his hand slid up to hold his brow," He thinks-"
"Waphael?"
Shit. He fought the urge to growl as a light quiet voice filled the air. Raph normally had no problem with kids (at the dojo, they were always trying to play 'climb the Raph'). But the little boys voice dug daggers into his skull (it didn't help he had gotten a hold of a saké flask and drank himself to sleep) and instead decided to stand up and turn back to the house he had been . Daiki seemed to understand, through his hands he could see Daiki kneel by the small ferret boy, wrapped in bright yellow yukata a child from one of the other villages who often came by since Donatello became one of the villages I-sha's the village had grown in popularity (he wasn't' sure how the other I-sha's were doing but he'd keep an eye out incase they wanted revenge), "Hey Jirou-ko, Raph's a bit cranky right now, are you here with your oka-san she's' almost due right?"
"Yeah, but we can't find the I-sha. So I, So I wanted to ask Waphael where he's at."
Raph dropped his hands, what? Turning to look at the small striped boy "what do you mean you can't find him. Are you looking for Arata? That old ass falls asleep in his 'hut' all the time. You might need to yell louder."
"Nu, Mama was looking for the I-sha-ko. Donnie. But he's not anywhere."
"What do you mean he's not 'anywhere'?" Raph pushed himself forward onto his knees, "Jirou, did you check the house? Remember? Don thought she would be more comfortable there last time?"
"He wasn't der. Now Mama's feet huwt-"
Raph honeslty wanted to feel sorry for the poor pregnant woman walking around the village looking for a I-sha, but he barely heard the end of the young child's sentence before charging into a dead run, he was quite sure he had even shoved over Arata carrying two buckets over his neck (not sure someone his age was carrying something so heavy), all but colliding with the wall of his home cracking the wooden wall as his palm threw the door open," DON, DON are you here?!" he shouted into the living room, before running over to the bed room and throwing that door open, before going over to his mother's room
Empty
All empty
Panic gripped his chest, his hand going up to rub his scalp his body heaving the breaths. Breath, breathe-
Then it hit him
It rose through this skin like hot flame, shaking consuming his hands as his eyes rose up out the open workshop. Chasing all spine numbing concern with the very anger he was known for.
The very source of their argument,
A shout burst past his lips, 'He is GROUNDED!" barely acknowledging the villagers who had thrown themselves to the ground in panic, his fist slamming through the wall, "GROUNDED till the day he f-" at this point, a bell at the Murakami shrine had gone off, so no one was quite sure what that end of that word was, "-ing DIES."
"Kenta?"
"Not now Daiki!" he slammed the door shut, ignoring the fact that the Neko had chased him all the way to his house or the reason that might be (though the hole in the wall proved that futile), "He went to his workshop, Even though I TOLD him not to. He is GROUNDED, I'm burning down his workshop, no more PURPLE no more FRIENDS, no more ANYTHING till the day he dies, and if I die first i will HAUNT his ass-"
"Kenta-"
"I'll be right back after I'm done MURDERING him." his hand shoving Daiki off the walk way, if there way anything Raph could do, it was jump start his adrenaline, he ran up the rolling hills that made up the valley, eyes scanning the hill side, "Get out here NOW!" he shouted, stomped his foot against the hillside, "I will GROUND you into the afterlife, DON'T THINK I WONT I HAVE LEAN-WAY UP THERE! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OLD MEN DRINKING BUDDIES DIE!" his foot stomped into the hillside again, before his eyes fell on a small rope, hidden by the grass, his hand snatching it up and yanking the hideaway open-
There was a flurry of white feathers, catching and hooking on the sweat of his face as his arms shot up in a meager attempt to protect himself, before his foot caught on the ground, sending him flying down onto his shell
Pain shot up his back, a familiar pain that sent a shout through him and his elbows into the ground, arching his back, "SHIT!" he forced himself back onto his chest, arms braced against the ground, acid building up in the back of his throat and sent the last of the sake' past his lips and into the dirt staining his mouth in bitterness, "SHIT-" He forced deep breaths before realizing the loud screeching sound wasn't from his hangover but from a shadow circling over him. Raph gritted his teeth before rolling over to rest on his hip, arm going up to shadow over his eyes, recognizing the large form immediately
Toki?
Why had he been locked up? Don always let him out to hunt during the day (it had been absolutely forbade by the older members of the family to let the giant creature sleep in the house, other than Mikey, who begged in Dons favor). With shaking limbs, Raph forced himself back up onto his feet, raising his arm out in a similar way Don did, what word did he use? Lorenzo used it a few times, it was from his homeland, "Venire!" he shouted,
The large albino hawk eagle circled around, wings out to the side as his claws went out (actually, it was at this point that he would see Leo start to bite his finger nails whenever Don did this while Usagi would cup his hand over his eyes while staring at his feet). The large talons circling over his forearm. The weight landing and the claws digging into his arm but grateful not to feel actual blood rise to the surface, "What the hell you giant albino chicken?" he demanded, hurrying forward to the opening in the ground, "Don? Don you in there?" he called, "Why was Toki in there? If you starve him he might start carrying away people, or you... We all said that if he tried that again we weren't going to sacrifice tokage's to appease him," though at the time he had thought it was hilarious to have Leo tell him that, till he saw that Tokage had lifted Don 3 feet out into the air. Not only that but he was too angry to think anything was funny at the moment. Especially with tokage pecking at his fingers as he knelt down, "Don get out of there, what were you thinking?! Its freezing in here," with a shake of his arm, he sent Toki away, his hand wiping away the feathers that had stuck to his neck and heaved himself down into the pit.
The workshop was cast in silence and shadow, his foot reached over to nudge the mirror he knew was onto the ground, the room filling with mirrored sunlight, "Come on, don't hide. I promise you can still wear purple," though that was about the only thing he would give up, pushing past the stack of boxes, looking back to the entrance to ensure Don wasn't just sneaking out. He was surprised that he had been able to get in. If Donnie had heard him stomping and yelling he would of locked the door in that stupid way he had discovered (then again, Raph would of just torn the door off) "DON." he shouted before slapping the wall, "Get out here we need to talk," his hand struck the wall, "NOW. You KNOW how dangerous it is for you to get cold. What if you got sick?!"he ducked under one of the low bearing beams (how the hell did Don get that in there?!) , "Don come on , this isn't' a game. I know you think I'm being hard on you, but I'm just looking out for you!" his hand slapped the wall again, only then obvious of the echo reverberating back at him. He moved forward, "Don, quit hiding." he swung down to look under the work table, "Don please!" moving deeper into the workshop, 'DONNIE!" before his head smacked into a low beam again, his hand going up to slap the aching spot. But the rage never came
Don wasn't' there.
And he never went home
His heart began to hammer in his chest, against the armor on his chest, sweat building up and sticking to the cloth of his happi as his hand pressed to his forehead stumbling back into the same beam he had knocked his scalp on. His fist finding a place in the wood covered wall with a angry shout before he was out the door, running back to the village as fast as he could .
(#)(#)(#)(#)
Raph slowly rose up to his knees. His skin and red yukata stained with mud and smaller pebbles. His hands going up to wipe his tear stained cheeks, though he knew no one was around (it was too late for that).
It was always too late
Always.
There was no Tenshi
No angel with wings of knives to protect him
No moon
No father
No brothers
Nothing
A empty house
A empty life
He rubbed his face again, ignoring the mud that came from his palms.
There was nothing here
Then leave
He wasn't sure where that thought came from, what brought it out or what part of his soul had uttered such a stupid thought. But he found himself lowering his hands again, though he couldn't see them in the dark.
Escape
Leave
Could he? Raph raised his head, looking over the river, over the bridge, to the one part of the valley that always forbidden to the young boys. But in the dark, no one would see him. No one could run after him. How far could he get before Daddy woke up?
Far enough?
He was fast, not as fast as Mikey, but Daddy had a bad knee. That's why he depended on Leo so much to chase him and Mikey down. Supposing they'd even TRY to go after him it would be one less mouth to feed
No more Leo, screaming at him. Telling him everything he was doing was wrong, no more smelly Mikey, no more little brother who was too stupid to talk
He hadn't even realized he had been walking until his bare foot touched the wooden bridge. Flinching he stumbled back, as though it had been made of hot coals rather ten archaic dusty wood. Raph shot a glance behind him, half of him expected to have a blue masked 8 year old screaming after him.
But nothing came
His foot touched the wood again. Still nothing. His weight followed, as did his other foot. Each following the other till he was on the other side, glancing behind him once again
Still nothing
A nervous smiled edged its way across his face , his steps doubling. He knew the grass was the exact same on the 'home' side' but he couldn't stop from scooping over, catching grass in his fingers and tossing them over his head with a spin, a louder defiant laugh escaping his laugh. He could barely remember the cracked tear streaks on his face as he broke out into a dead run. Raph's eyes falling on the opening in the tall mountain wall. It was so far away
but he could get there
he could escape
(#)(#)(#)(#)
"Dansei! One of our kodomos' is missing, the younglings known as Tsukino Donatello. Though he and his family have only been in this village for a short time, I have no doubt you all already know him as our village I-sha, He has been missing for a atleast a day and has not been seen since. He has a breathing condition that allows I'm to fall ill rather quickly. He might of already fallen unconscious, search under every boulder and up every tree. He also goes by Hideaki so use that name too. We will NOT stop searching until we find him, he is a part of this village and a part of this family."
If Daiki was good at anything, it was rallying the troops. If it hadn't been for the ball of lead in Raph's stomach he might have felt touched that so many samurai and villagers had gathered in the small stable. Daiki had placed a local map on the wall, gesturing to it and pointing to different locations. Course all Raph could focus on was the kura he was putting on the large black horse he had picked out. HE was pretty sure this was Leo's horse, so he knew it was raised well. Raph could just see the people dispersing from the meeting group. Several had gone to take horses while others were already outside. Where he should of been by now, instead of waiting for the Neko now at his side, "What the hell took so long?!" he demanded of Daiki, "Was rallying the troops really that important!?"
"It's better that people have a designated spot to search, to give us more ground to cover. TO find Hideaki faster."
"WE could have found him by now" he knew it wasn't true, but every second wasted in the stable was another second the sun came closer to setting. Raph wasn't sure if it was in his head, but the air already felt colder than it did this morning. Luckily the 'rallying' gave him time to check over his gear again, extra blankets, three bamboo carriers of medicine, and pretty much every weapon he had. Maybe that was why the villagers were giving him weird looks. He had to look like he was going to war
He didn't care.
Raph pressed his hand on his horses back to heave up as a spasm of pain shot up his back, sending him down to the ground again with a angry groan. His arms tensed and his fingers squeezed into his palms. Fighting the urge to shout in pain, forcing himself to take deep breaths. Just a moment, a moment to breathe. He couldn't afford to take his pain medication, it would make him sluggish.
"-obvious right?"
Raph's head twitched lightly at the intrusion of the soft voice among the loud ones. Mostly cause the louder ones were warriors moving out, and the clip of horse hooves receding. But his eyes immediately on the group of Inui's around his age, huddled around the same horse. The speaker was probably the one with his brown kimono and black hakama's to one just a dark green one, both with matching dark grey fur and short tied back hair. They probably didn't know he could hear them, judging by how slowly the brown kimonoed one was putting the riding gear in place. Then again, very few people knew that he was trained by the best Bounty Hunter around to hone his hearing
"I don't know Izamu-"
"Look, we all know that Leos' brother has that temper, how do we know he didn't' lock that poor kid out of the house? "'
"the Miyamoto's trust him, then we should-"
"He's not a Miyamoto, he's some criminal Bounty Hunter from the city"
His hand shot out, catching the blue wrapped Inui by the shoulder and spun him around, fist crunching against his face. The Inui flying back and colliding with the other Inui (they might of been twins) before Raph's fist grabbed his front, twisting the cloth and pinning him against his brother, "SAY THAT AGAIN." he shook the Inui, "SAY THAT I LOCKED MY OWN BROTHER OUT TO FREEZE TO DEATH!" the Inuis' head knocked back, colliding with his twins, the 'judgey' Inui's' hand's shot up to grip his in a feeble attempt to pry his hands off.
You might as well try to get meat out of a Kuma's jaws
"You're right, I aint one of your prodigal sons, I am a Bounty Hunter, I make full grown OSUUSHI cry for mercy, but I sure as HELL-" he ignored the hand on his shoulder, Daiki's shout in his ear. But the best part of being a muscle bound brute was that he wasn't so easily pried off his target, "don't mind popping your knee caps off for a EXAMPLE-'"
Daiki's hand gripped under his arm, sending him flying off of the 'stupid' twin. His feet tripping over the other as he collided with one of the stall separators (the horse on the other side reared in alarm to an incoming kame). Raph's arm was the only thing cushioning his head from hard wall and it was what pushed him away to pummel his attacker if Daiki hadn't drug the twins to their feet with such a angry look on his face, it was almost enough to impress him, ""If you two think you are too old for me to IMMOBILIZE you for a week you are GREATLY mistaken. I suggest you ACT like samurai and start searching for the child you claim is freezing to death by the time I take my next breath"
The twins glanced over to each other with a horrified look on his face (It almost gave Raph the impression Daiki had kept that promise before). The two hurried back over to their horses, Raph would of enjoyed watching their identical asses fleeing by if a spasm through his back didn't send him facing the wall again, fingers digging to the beam of the wall as he took deep breaths. squeezing his eyes shut
"And you have no right to threaten them. They volunteered to help, even if they are-" Daiki's voice halted for a moment, shit. he hated this part, "Kenta what's wrong?"
"Nothing" he bit through his teeth. Ignoring the crack of wood under his fingernails and the weakening of his knees, shoving himself off the wall, his knee buckling under his weight sent him colliding in the opposite wall. a hand flew to his shoulder, but was shoved off "Shut up its just some back pain."
"You look like a ghost, you're sweating through your clothes"
"Like hell I am, this leather is made of whale skin, Don made it so water WOULDN'T get through." rolling his shoulder, shoving himself back up to his feet, but the hand on the shoulder sent him spinning back, "RAPHAEL, as temporary headmen of this village, I am in charge of our villagers AND warriors well being, I must insit you stay behind-"
Rage is an interesting thing
It gives you energy when you need it
So when Raph's knees locked, he spun around and slammed his palm against the Nekos' neck, not enough to squeeze the air out of him (though it was the only thing his fingers were craving), his beak inches from the older's face, and the glare even deeper , "I'm a bounty hunter remember?! I don't FOLLOW your rules, and if this was ANY of your siblings you'd be dragging your ass out there on all fours." his breath was hot against his own lips, not sure if the liquid running down his own face came from his sweat or from his own mouth, the bile rising up in the back of his throat
"So I'm going to pretend you didn't say that, cause if you say it again I'm going to shove a sai in your stomach."
Daiki's steely eyes met his. And Raph was sure if the situation had been different he would have been sent to the ground (but if he HADN'T been in pain he'd so kick this Neko's ass). But the orange furred hand reached up and pried his hand off his throat,"We take the forest." and without another word, turned and went to the large white horse.
It was the closest thing Raph was going to get to a apology
or something
Raph stumbled back over to the hose, wiping his face on his leather sleeve. Pressing both hands on Kaze's back to heave himself up, a large shout from Daiki sending both horses from the barn to the large mass of horse ridden warriors outside,
"DANEI! IKU!"
Translation/Notes
okasan: mother
venire!: Come!
O-fouda- talismans for purity
tenshi :angel messenger. Though they aren't really 'protectors' They do speak on behalf of people, and since Tang-shens adotped father is Italian anyway, i figured she might know something about angels. And the whole "wings of knives' thing is a reference to the marital gifts exchanged between Amaterasu and the Impetuous Male. Amaterasu swallowed the Impetuos Male's gift of a ten grasp sword (broken into three pieces, so i guess the knives are there) I should really source this stuff.
Amaterasu: sun goddess, she's the main goddess who is
Kuma: bear
Osuushi: ox
Danei! Iku!: Men move
note: I hate using whale skin as leather in this, I love whales! But I can't use cow skin, And there were whalers in feudal japan. I imagine that don paid a lot for some skin ( though it was against his morales) just cause he wanted raph to be protected as the nightwatcher
