Hey guys! Sorry for the long delay Chapter 6. I originally wanted to publish this chapter on January 25, but then it got complicated. Long story short, I dropped my hard drive when sitting on ground doing work, and $600 was not really worth the six hours of work. Things happen! :)
As soon as everyone rushed to Beijing Oriental Plaza, they were amazed by all the jewelry store and clothing store. Emma sprinted out and began her afternoon trip of insanity. Luke and Ravi stopped in front of a sporting shop. Luke caught his eye on the newest Speedo goggles, but it was $100 on the spot, so he started to bargain with the owner. After half an hour of debate, Luke bought this goggle for as low as $50.
Ravi looked at Luke, obviously surprised, "Luke, why are you buying this pair of goggles. Don't they make a lot of these back in New York? Why spending the useless price in here?"
Luke stared at Ravi, "Oh, Ravi. What you feel useless has come out as a useful item to me. The reason I bought this pair of goggles is to swim a few times in Beijing this time. It's really refreshing staying in the pool."
As soon as he heard the word "swim", Ravi started shivering.
"Ravi, are you okay?"
"I am fine. Go to swim by yourself if you want. I am not in it."
Jessie and Tony came to the front Broadway Cinemas. They looked at the screen in the front, planning to see a movie that can represent Chinese culture. After a while, Tony made up his mind, "Let's watch Personal Tailor, what do you think?"
Jessie spotted the flaw in this statement right away, so she answered, "This movie has subtitles, and you'll vomit in the middle, right? I heard that the audience in here are not easy goer."
"Of course I won't get use to it. So can you put a layer of vomit bag in my popcorn, and put a comic book inside it, you know, just in case?"
Two of them wanted to laugh out loud right now. But came to think of how they broke up, they held the laughter and could not bring it out.
"I hold objection!" Emma broke the silence on the dinner table and suddenly said.
Jessie want to look like she knew a lot about Emma, so she answered, "Let me guess, is it that people in here don't know how to accessorize, especially those who wear socks with sandals? I have the camera right here with me, tell me when you want to shoot Kitty Couture vlog."
"No, on the contrary, I love this place. I start to regret why I haven't come to here earlier. Can't believe I wasted fifteen years of my life for nothing."
Lelle said after hearing Emma's comment, "Emma, do you know that if something is rarer, it holds more value? So you come here after all these years, you will start to take this chance into account, this is where the fun comes from."
Emma was speechless after hearing that. Everyone finished their Peaking Duck in silence. That duck was just absolutely delicious. For Jessie and the kids, after getting used to Bertram's cooking, this appears to be more of a delicacy to them. Bertram even rushed into the kitchen, he want to make the chef to accept him as his apprentice in order to learn how to make the duck. But he was chased away because the miscommunication between two different languages.
Seeing Bertram's crying face, everyone broke the silence and into laughter.
9:00 P.M, after everyone was satisfied, they started to head back to the hotel. Although the sun went down a while ago, the road was so hot that everyone had a hard time to breathe. "I grew up in Beijing, so I got used to it." Lelle was explaining on the side, "In China, everyone is thinking of a way to stay cool. At this point of time, the AC in the stores will turn up. When I walk on the streets, it is an attack between hot and cold. Of course, in this kind of weather, swimming is the best way to stay cool. And also ice water, you get what I mean."
Ravi knew the best of his fear to get down into the pool, so he went up and said, "Lelle, can I choose not to swim? I am not good at any sports other than the physically and mentally defeat."
"Oh, don't worry, Ravi. We are going to the pool in the sports center in UHN International Village, the pool in there is right up to my legs. Of course, I respect your decision. You can choose to watch on the side if you really don't want to get down."
Fifteen minutes later, at UHN International Village.
"Pool closed for maintenance, will be back in two weeks?" Luke looked at the English line on the sign in front of the door.
Ravi also spotted this sign, then he was on his knees shouting, "NOOOOO!"
Luke looked at Ravi's dramatic expression, he went to the front, "Oh, come on, Ravi. You are sitting on the side when going in there. So this isn't much of a difference for you, right?" Right after that, he read the line under the pool is closed: No pets allowed. Luke came to realization, he finally can read for once, but only gave the crowd half of the information.
Zuri found a convenience store stilled opened beside them, and she came up with an idea, "I have a way to let everyone to stay cool. We'll buy ice cream every day, that'll be $3 for every person tops every day. We have eight people here so that's about… $1400 for the summer." As Zuri finished her sentence, she realized how absurd her idea was. Everyone shook their head in disagreement. Except for Bertram, he never missed out on anything that deals with food.
Lelle said at this moment, "Looks like Water Cube is the only place to be for us. That is the definite route for travelers. Swimming plus touring, that's two out of one." When hearing that, everyone except Ravi raised both of their hands up in agreement. Bertram was hesitating at the start, but one of his hand got raised by look, he had nothing to do other than agreeing.
Once everyone was back in Wangfu Hotel, Lelle gave out the final instruction of the day, "All right, everyone get some sleep after going to your rooms. We'll sleep in tomorrow and then get ready to swim in Water Cube. If everyone have any questions, you can find me in room 309 or Robby in room 226. Good night everyone!"
In terms of the room arrangement, it went something like this. Emma slept in a room with Zuri and Chubby. Jessie, Tony and Bertram had one room each. Luke stayed in a room with Ravi, Mrs. Kipling was closed in a cage by Ravi, so that she would not eat Luke.
Ravi could not sleep, "I am still worried about tomorrow. I do not want to die in the pool in such a young age."
"Oh, Ravi, you worried too much. Water Cube is only three meters deep, it will be fun, trust me. What are you afraid of?"
"Sports, water, and any scenario where you tell me to trust you."
The digits on the clock turned to eleven, Ravi opened the radio and turned it to 96.1. This was his most exciting time of the day. "It is radio time now, dear brother. If you want to sleep first you can do so, I need some solace in the heart. Gods, don't let me drown like this tomorrow." He listened to the radio and thought how he would face his doom tomorrow.
Lelle's voice appeared in the radio, "You're listening to Whisper of Kaku."
This night was filled with suspense. Why Lelle was broadcasting on the radio? Will Ravi conquer his fear of swimming in a three meter deep pool? Chapter 7 will be out at the beginning of March, and I promise everyone to not delaying publish this story again for some stupid reasons :). Don't forget to WRRDA!
