Lelouch POV
"Our mother was murdered and Nunnally was paralyzed from the waist down and blinded by trauma. Our father left us to our own devices, in other words, abandoned us," I continued.
"I know what that means," Ciel rolled his eyes.
"Hush," I glanced at him before going on. "We lived off the streets for a few weeks, but we could barely keep ourselves alive. That was when Lucas came into the picture. He helped us find food until I started to play chess against some of the badder underground bosses for money, I had built up quite a reputation for myself and I soon learned that my father had been assassinated, not that I really cared. By rights, I inherited this mansion and the land around it. The maids and the other butlers were both from the original staff and some odd friends I had made during my time on the streets. I started to work with the Queen when she requested that I help her solve a case, since she is one of the only people that know that I used to play chess against criminals. I've been helping her ever since."
"Thank you," Ciel stood up to leave.
"Is there anything else you were looking for?" I remained sitting. the Earl Phantomhive was just to predictable. "Perhaps a game of chess might interest you?"
He turned back to face me before slowly sitting back down again, "What color shall you be?"
"It doesn't matter much to me," A small smirk slid onto my face, he was just too easy to manipulate, it was laughable.
"I'll take black," I don't expect this chess game to take very long, I've played against other nobles also.
"Then shall we start?"
