A/N: Another time jump. Abby is around 9. As with the last chapter, bolded parts are sign language.

Jen walked the stone pathway to the solid red door raising her hand to knock. Before her hand could connect with the wood, the door swung open. Jenny smiled at Gloria.

Hello Gloria. How are you? She signed slowly.

Jenny, I am so good. Abigail has been waiting for you.

"You're here!"

Jen laughed at Abby's excitement. "I told you I would come today."

"Can we go now?" Abby asked bouncing with excitement. Jenny looked to Gloria silently asking if it were alright to leave with Abby. Gloria simply nodded. Jenny had decided that she would take Abby out to lunch and then take her shopping. During shopping she would break the news to the young girl that the two adults she viewed as her parents would be leaving the country for the next few months. She could only hope that their conversation would go smoothly.

Together they browsed the clothing racks. Jenny glanced at Abby as she sorted through the shirts looking for something that would express her inner image of herself. "Abby, we won't be able to go to lunch next month."

Abby's head snapped in Jenny's direction. "Why? Where are you going?"

"Paris," Jenny shrugged looking through the shirts again.

Abby nodded looking at the clothes in front of her. "Are you going on a honeymoon?"

Jenny laughed. "No not my honeymoon. I'm going to Paris for work."

"Do you have to go?" Abby whined. Jen shook her head at the young girl's behavior.

"Abby what have I said about whining?" Jen softly scolded.

"I have to use my words," Abby let out a frustrated sigh dropping her whining tone.

"Thank you," Jen smiled. "Yes I have to go. My boss has ordered me to go."

"Daddy too?"

"Daddy too," Jen nodded and felt her heart break as Abby's face crumpled.

"I don't want you to go!" Abby flung herself into Jen's arms. "I'm going to miss you! Paris is so far away."

"Aw Abs, I'm going to miss you too but I will come back."

"You promise?" Abby pulled back and held out her pinky finger.

"I promise that I'm not going away forever. I promise I will come back to you." Jen giggled as she locked her pinky finger around Abby's. "Listen, Daddy and I will only be gone for a few months. Then we'll come back home and we can go out and you can tell us all about your adventures with Gloria and Luca."

"What if you-"

"Abby," Jen interrupted her. "No more what ifs. I will come to you in a few months, I promise. Until then I will call you every so much you'll get sick of our phone calls-"

"I could never get sick of you Mommy," Abby smiled giving Jen a hug.

"I'm so glad to hear you say that."
