Chapter 7 - Pain

A/N Well in this chapter there is going to be some quite described torture and a bit of rape but not too much... i don't know?! if you don't want to read it, you should just skip this chapter I guess... or just skip everything until you meet a loooong line :D. I am sorry for any grammar mistakes.

Some of the Seekers got their weapons out already... and Hawke could feel the aura of a templar cleansing the area. "Damn it." She took a peek at Anders which had the same frustrated look on his face... their magic was being drained. She took a step towards Fenris, with a little hand on his shoulder she whispered to his ear.

"We can't win this... "

"Why?"

"We are here for the 2 mages... the others can leave." The Seeker was pointing towards Anders and Hawke.

Fenris took a fighting position, followed by the rest of them... but Aisa stopped him.

"No Fenris... I will go with them."

"What? Why?"

"It is the best thing to do... as you said we are hunted people... but if I turn in willingly you will be free. Just as you wanted."

"Hawke you know what I want." Her lips were on his as she pressed her fingers on the back of his head. Fenris grasped as she paralyzed all of his senses. The world turned in to a chaos of sounds and lights. He could see a blur... Sebastian... helping him stand on his feet and a few shadows captured Hawke. Fenris tried to get her but his hand went right through the air as he crushed down on the earth. "Damn woman!" And with that he lost his conscience.

"I will turn in quietly as you asked."

"What? No! Hawke!"

"You don't have the right to intervene Anders!" The mage was taken aback by her outburst. She suddenly turned around and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. Even if she was shorter than him he was still dominated by her presence. "It is your fault that we are in this situation and I am PRACTICALLY FED UP WITH EVERYTHING!" Aisa let go to his shirt. "The others do not deserve to be punished because of us Anders... no more... you either turn yourself in or I swear I will make you." The mage nodded knowing full well she was right. The Seekers kept them with a sharp sword at their back but they were leaving that place... They were heading for Ford Drakon.

Sebastian was trying to wake Fenris up once again but to no avail. Darrian was the one to break the silence.

"1. Who are you? and 2. What now?"

Sebastian grabbed Fenris and threw him over his shoulder. He didn't answer to the elf, didn't really knew what to answer so he simply walked away with his friend on his back.

Shortly Fenris woke up with the worse head ache he ever had... and he had plenty in his life. After the world cleared up a bit he could see he was in a room... something small with one bed, in which he was sitting and an armoire. Getting up he went right for the window. The sun was shining a bit too hard for his eyes so he needed some time to adjust... What he hated at the moment was the fact that he didn't know how he got here... and he has a sensation he forgot something. It happened sometimes actually, forgetting parts of his past... not just his life before the markings but little details in his life... This annoyed him but it never happened with recent events... He tried to massage the bridge of his nose, the headache still present... And suddenly it hit him. "Hawke!"He knew something happened to the girl but couldn't really put a finger on what exactly. He ran right through the door but stopped in the wall of the small hallway. Damn headache made him dizzy so he had to lean on something solid to only keep himself on his feet.

"Fenris?" That voice it was clearly Sebastian... and it was clearly making his ears bleed... but what was the priest doing here? Fenris made a sign with his hand to the man, the only greeting he managed before hitting his head to the wall, damn hangovers!

Sebastian was being attentive he didn't want some kind of outburst from the elf... he liked his heart even if right now it was pretty much hurt him. "Are you all right, Fenris?"

"Might have had one too many drinks the other day." The man stared at Fenris with a confused look on his face.

"One too many drinks?"

"Fine... Three or four too many drinks judging from my damn head right now." Fenris felt like he wanted to crack his skull open and remove all the needles and pins in there, his eyes felt like something inside his mind were pushing them out of his eyeballs. then he tried to look at Sebastian the light send knifes, slowly burning them in his forehead and burning his eyes in the process.

"Fenris you don't remember?"
"No... not much."

"That explains some things..."

"Like what? Where is Hawke?"

Sebastian told him what happened dismissing some details. Mostly the Seekers just happened to find them and he just happened to find an unconscious Fenris and now Hawke just happened to be in Fort Drakon.

"Damn woman! Let's go."

"Go where Fenris?"

"Fort Drakon... of course."

"Of course."

Hawke and Anders were separated as they reached the Fort. The girl's eyes were covered by a rough fabric in a manner that she could see some silhouettes but no real details. She was thrown in a small chamber with a table and a candle on it. After the tie at her eyes was removed she could a see Seeker... a man, black hair, cold eyes, emotionless features.

"Name?"

"Bite Me! First name Bite and Last name Me."

"A gutsy one..." Hawke simply gave him a weak smirk... this cleansing auras are sucking her life out but she isn't just going to be a good prisoner... if she can get Anders out she will. " You should be more cautious Mrs..."

"From your accent I can guess you are from Orlais so if you want to be as noble as you think yourself to be you would present yourself... no? Mr..."

"Camulus." Now she attracted quite some attention, the man was checking her out up and down with an intrigued look on his face. "You know my name now..."

"Yes... but you won't know mine." Hawke has long since realized that they were looking after her but didn't have a damn clue how she looked as. Sebastian was their only asset now that he isn't with them, or so she hoped, they need to get a statement from her to be able to convict her.

"Ok... you will sing... if not to me, to my friend." She knew there was going to be some kind of interrogation...and the Seekers aren't known for their pacifistic ways. "Do you my Anonymous Lady know why you are here?"

"Mayyybe." Now her sarcasm was kicking in, this is going to be fun.

"Funny.. you won't tell me your name but you would admit that you are guilty."

"I didn't quite admit anything... having a suspicion it is a far cry from admitting to something."

"I am not a bad guy and you would definitely want not to piss me off!" Clearly the man was trying to compose himself, Hawke could already imagine some other guy coming in and playing the bad cop. And surprise... the door behind her slams and a Seeker stays there.

"You will have to answer eventually."

"My friend is going to make you sing... it would be better for you if you'd do it sooner than later." With that the man from the table left the chamber together with the other one letting in a guard which took Hawke.

He escorted the girl deep down the Ford occasionally pushing her. After several corridors and a few doors she was in front of some stairs. The guard grabbed a torch from the wall and pushed Aisa almost making her trip on the first step. A stench of putrid, death, urine and other disgusting things flooded her senses, Hawke almost threw up. They went past the torturing chamber, even if Aisa couldn't actually see it the screams coming from it were quite an obvious clue. They soon ended up in a huge section of the sewers from which cages were hanged by the sealing with pitifully looking people in them and manacles with individuals screaming to be let down, blood coursing from their cuffed wrist down their body hitting the cold floor meters under them... soon they passed a pile of corpses, the base with rotten people and on the top Hawke could still see man breathing... She was terrified by the time they reached the jails. The guard undressed her leaving only her leggings and shirt on and after cuffing her hands he threw her in the cramped and dirty chamber closing the door behind. A rat squeaks loudly next to her as she attempts to get back on her feet. Hawke looked a bit around, there was no window which was obvious actually because they were underground. Trying to stay straight she realizes the ceiling touches her head... she simply crushes back on the floor. "Damn it!" Hawke doesn't really know how much she remains there but soon she hears a man hard steps entering the corridor where the jails are. She crawls closer to the door to listen a bit.

"Wake up!"

"I am sorry Menva."

"I don't care if you sleep while guarding a few of my toys but right now I want one of them... my finger twitch and that is not good." Soon this Menva comes closer to a jail in front of Hawke's and orders to a guard to bring the man to his wonderland. Hawke can't hear anything afterwards so she gets her head closer to the door only to jump as someone started knocking in to the wooden surface. "Don't worry daisy you will be mine tomorrow." A knot eased itself in Aisa throat...

"See you tomorrow then." She said. The man behind the door started laughing as he left the place. "DAMN IT!" Hawke was quite desperate by this moment... For a few minutes she tried to find something anything besides some rats and dirt... but all was in vain. She even tried to call upon her magic only to be able to do a small fire from her index finger, enough to burn her skin and nothing else, the flame was weaker than a candle one's. At least now she can see... there was nothing, just nothing, nothing at all in the room. "Damn it." What now? What could she do now? She simply stayed like that not knowing how much time passed, listening to the screams and pain of the others simply waiting for something.. maybe she fell asleep, maybe not, as darkness surrounded her she lost herself in her own mind.

A/N Torture down there... if you want to skip it is your choice don't say I didn't warn you...

"Good morning my little toy... aren't you a pretty one." Her eyes opened only to be blinded by the light of a torch. There was Menva with a wide sadistic grin on his face. His hand captured her chin turning her head around to check her features. "You won't be after I finish with you." A guard came and took her with a strong grip by her arm... she could already feel the bruise forming. She was taken to the chamber she believed was the interrogation/torture room. When she was inside she knew how right she was. There were several chairs with cuffs, chains from the wall, cages... and lots and lots of tools and devices... she didn't want to even think of those because she already knew she will meet them.

Menva was playing around with his tools when he turned around a bit worried. "So... any statement or something?"

"Just that I hate you... nope." The man relaxed when he heard her and a gruesome look on his face formed.

"Good." He grabbed a weird kind of pliers and some tool that Hawke believed it was to keep her mouth opened. Soon on her tongue she could taste the old iron of the tool and the disgusting and vile taste from the thousands of victims it held. "I will start easy, you won't need some teeth in the future anyway."

"At least start from the back." She managed to say. Menva smiled as he pushed the pliers in the back of her mouth. When she felt the tool touching one of her molars she knew this was going to be dreadful, and there is no magic to keep the pain at bay. The man stayed there with a thoughtful expression, the waiting was excruciating. "Should I crush your tooth for the insolence or just pull it out... crushing wouldn't be profitable, for the tooth wouldn't be valuable anymore but it would be so much fun for me. Crushing it is. "Hawke started yelling as the man started cracking her molar to bits, the pain shot her hard as a lightning, her brain almost stopped working from the shock. She started yelling, louder than she thought it was possible, the man kept on cracking and with every press from the pliers the pain intensified. And then he pulled. White was in front of her eyes and the coppery taste filled her mouth, blood so much blood flooding... she might just drown. He pulled some bits once again and this time he pulled out the device... she didn't dare to close her mouth... she could still feel some parts still in there.

"Yell my darling, you are so good, I know I will enjoy my little toy." He pulled several more parts from her mouth and she struggled, she struggled but she was a mage not the strongest one and he was a Seeker with broad shoulder, much taller than her, muscles everywhere you'd look, he overpowered her easily. In the end he let her go and with a final act of defiance she managed to say.

"At least finish the job and pull all the parts out." When she finished she escaped an yell... the pain was still unbearable... her head cracked, her body tensed, tears rolled down her cheeks.

"As the lady wishes." Once again the pliers in, taking out the last bits of the tooth, Menva carefully pushed the tool in the empty place winning a yell from Aisa, she struggled so much that the chair she sat in fell with her. She hit her head on the cold stone, blood flowing from the corner of her mouth and flooding the floor around her head, sticking to her cheek and hair. A heavy arm pulled her back up. She kept on yelling for some minutes until she simply started gridding her teeth, how she managed not to touch the bruised place she doesn't know but in this way she managed to stop the screams and the tears.

"Anything you want to say." She spat on his face, more blood that spit but the intention counts.

"Fucking bitch." A fist came right in her face making once again the chair fall... her face burned where his hand touched her and she could feel blood dripping from her nose. He pulled her back up by her shirt and her head stopped in her chest. Her hair was sticking to her face from the blood and sweat. "Maker if this isn't exciting... aren't you getting horny because I know I do."

"Yes... I am in utter bliss... thank you." She couldn't understand herself right now that is how hard she was able to speak.

"Ok... now we will take it a little easier... before we go to the next tooth. " He found another set of pliers, smaller ones. "May I have your hand my lady." The metal tool wrapped around her index finger's nail and Menva pulled. Hawke only remembered how she saw the nail simply sliding from her finger... she screamed in complete despair and suffering. Another three nails were pulled before Menva left her to clean his hands. Just the thick air in the room was hurting the bare skin on her fingers... the pain is so unbearable she doesn't even know how she hasn't fainted already.

"Want to sing my little dove?"

"Bite... Me!" Another strong fist touched her face, this time she is sure her nose is broken. She left her head fall in her chest... no more! No Hawke! Keep on going... keep on going. His hand grabbed her chin and pulled her up.

"Aren't you beautiful now... look at that crooked nose, those tears stains mixed with blood and dirt on your cut cheeks, the blood coursing all over your face, the dirty and sticky hair... damn if I am not tempted... but I bet I can make you even prettier." No no no... NO MORE! "But not today... you might not be so much fun if you faint or something like that... tomorrow daisy... tomorrow." Hawke didn't knew if she should be relieved or terrified by his statement but soon she reached her small jail room and soon she was thrown by the guard on the floor. She didn't manage to get back up... she tried to stay with her mouth slightly opened and her fingers from touching anything. She managed to slightly decrease the amount of pain with the little bit of magic she had left. "Damn it..." And she finally fainted. When she woke up there was an iron bowl filled with a vile kind of a stew and a piece of mouldy bread. She couldn't eat anything because of her dental problem at the moment so she simply pushed it in the corner and watched as the rats started devouring it. She hugged her knees and simply stared at the darkness around her. The only thing on her mind right now was Fenris... is he alright, is he worried, is he trying to get her out... She... she doesn't even know what she wants... right now if she could simply lay down and die it would be best. After what seemed like an eternity the doors opened again, the light filled the room as she was brutally picked up and taken to that cursed room again.

"Will you sing today girl?"

"Go to hell!"

"Ok... today I feel traditional." In the room there was a huge bucket filled with water. Menva grabbed the girl and laid her on the edge of the wooden bowl. With a brutal hand he pushed her head in the water. It was so cold that it hit all her nerves, including the place where her molar used to be. She yelled under the water from the pain releasing almost all the air in her lungs in the process. Her lungs were squeezed small by the pressure, she choked and gagged releasing even more bubbles of air. She tried to struggle but Menva only pushed further. Her throat burned as she tried to inhale the air that wasn't there, she could feel her heart beating out of her chest, her ears were pounding and she simply didn't knew what to do anymore... then she was out. She coughed for a bit the water in her lungs before being pushed once again. This repeated for several times until the man got bored. He threw her on the chair again.

"Will I hear something good this time?" She was still coughing and desperately clinging to every bit of air she could find.

"You should still burn!"

"Good... I still can have some fun." He took a glance at her. "How pretty you are... so pale and beautiful just like a corpse..."

"Damn you!"

A few more days followed with continuous torture and suffering for Aisa... but one day was the worse. When Menva came to take her he was alone this time. She was barely able to walk by this time... and for sure it was from the hits she got at the soles of her feet the other day. This time he took her in some different room. There she could see several Racks... she knew them, those accursed tables but she never imagined to be found on one of them.

"I will give you a choice here. A bed of this kind can be used for two things." Oh no. "If you can get my meaning... and you are so beautiful, the cuts, the whip markings, the swollen eyes, the missing teeth, the bruises, this crooked nose and blood shot eyes... damn if I don't love you right now." She took a look at the table and could see the blood tainting the wood. Can she... no... but... There was a war in her mind and Menva knew what her choice will be. He grabbed her and pushed her slim frame on the 'bed'. She fell on her two feet and the men pushed her to stay on her hands like a dog. She can't believe she is actually doing this.

As usually she was thrown in the jail like a sack of potatoes. This time bitter tears rolled from her eyes. She remained there petrified... For several days she stayed like that... no one came to take her out or anything but in the end a guard, unknown to her came. He took her outside of that place back up the stairs... what now? Why are they taking her away?

The light hurt her eyes but she was happy to be taken away from that wretched place. She inhaled a big breath of clean air, no more putrid stench. They took her up the stairs to the higher parts of the Ford. Camulus came at one point with them and then Menva appeared as well.

"Where are you taking her?"Asked the sadist.

"She is going to be made tranquil... as a mindless idiot she won't be able to defy us anymore."

"What... I was just about to break her!"

"The king is coming today... we need the information!"

"But... what if she isn't the Champion... you are making an innocent tranquil."

"Even if she isn't Hawke... she is an apostate."

Menva realized he can't win. She can't be made tranquil. NO! Still... a tranquil doesn't feel anything. Maybe it is better that way... maybe this is the way to punish her... by the Maker... she is tired anyway.

And so Aisa followed the men without questioning. She ended up in a huge chamber beautifully decorated... and there was Anders. He looked bad, not like she did but still.

"Hawke?" She could see in his eyes the pitiful state she was in.

"Silence! You are here to be made tranquil not to chit chat." In the room there was a priest and two mages. Hawke could hear Anders screaming.

"How can you betray your own kind... if I knew mages were the ones to make the ritual... you IDIOTS!"

"We do not betray anyone... you and your friend are murderers we are honoured to break you." All this time the mages were the greatest threat to the mages... oh the irony.

"The girl first." She heard Camulus say.

"HAWKE DO SOMETHING DON'T JUST TAKE IT!" Anders was interrupted by a kick in his stomach... he crushed to his knees.

One of the mages draw a circle around Aisa and started sketching some intriguing patterns while the other one grabbed a brand in the form of a sun. The mage that finished the draw started mumbling some kind of incantation while the there one came closer. She closed her eyes.

Aisa didn't even hear the noise that Fenris made in the room as he took out three of the Seekers. He pushed his hand in the mage saying the incantation... he didn't even knew what hit him but the other one already pressed the brand on Hawke's forehead. Her scream filled the chamber and while she fell to her knees the other mage tasted the hard floor choking in his own blood. The elf managed to catch the girl before she would had hit the same tainted floor.

"Hawke! Hawke! Aisa! No! WAKE UP!"

Watching her right now for Fenris was as painful as it was the ritual with the lyrium in his skin. She was so slim he was afraid he'll break her apart. Her face beaten, dirty and bruised marked with that accursed sun. Her beautiful eyes filled with despair and emptiness, her hair sticky with blood... all he could do was to hold her tight and rock her back and forth.

"Fenris we have to go."

"I can't... I."

"We have to go!" Sebastian was with him now trying to pull the elf from the floor. Fenris took her in his arms as tenderly as he could, he saw the cuts in her shirt and the blood in thin strings... he knew the marks laid from a whip.

"I am sorry Hawke!"

An unknown voice broke the silence and from the floor Menva raised.

"What are you talking about you dirty knife ears. She is the most beautiful woman I had ever seen... not many can stand my treatment to them... I even tasted her... so sweet...blood and sweat."

Fenris simply left Hawke down on the floor and slowly walked towards the seeker."What will you do you pitiful slave." The elf smiled. "I love pain my little friend..."

"Idiots like you love their life." With that Menva was on the floor in a pool of his own blood. Fenris turned back towards the girl capturing her in his arms. "All will be fine Hawke."
