Ring! Ring!
The red head slowly woke up groaning trying to figure out where the annoying noise was coming from. She must have fallen asleep sitting down last night. She reached around for her phone slowly answering it without looking at the caller identification.
"Hello?" she asked questioning who would wake her up from her slumber. She wouldn't admit it to anyone, but she was dreaming about her old life.
"Ah, Elizabeth, just the person I was looking for," the British accent drawled causing Elizabeth to roll her eyes. Last night wasn't as draining for him as it was for her clearly. He didn't leave her apartment in the best of moods, what could he possibly want now?
"What?" she snapped not wanting the conversation to carry on any longer then it had to. The memories of last night still playing in her mind like a movie over and over again. She wanted to talk to Elijah, but he was long gone by now.
"I am having a slight problem locating my mother. I believe I need a brotherly chat of sorts and I was wondering if you would care to come along," he spoke without a care in the world. His voice was cheery. His demeanor much different then that of last night. She groaned softly trying to remember if she had work or not. A knock on her door suddenly drew her attention.
"Because you wouldn't want us all to die out now would you? Think of poor Elijah and Rebekah," he hung up causing her to glare at the door. She slowly stood up with him knocking one more time to prove a point.
Impatient Fucker!
Elizabeth finally made it to the door and opened it slowly. Klaus stood there with a smirk. His arms resting lazily behind him. His nose was sticking high up in the air as if her place was beneath his. Well, it was, but that wasn't the point. Not everyone had family members to rely on for one thousand years.
"I will let you get ready. Try to not think about me in the bathroom. My brother would be sore if he thought for a second that I was a temptation to you," he pushed past her and walked inside. His familiar smell caught her nose. She closed the door behind him rolling her eyes one more time. He grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and drank it. He quickly dropped the bottle and glared at her.
"Vervain? Why would you place this in the water?" he asked as the water spilled on the floor. She glared at him and looked at the puddle on the floor. Niklaus cleaning up after himself was a long shot, but he actually started to grab a paper towel to clean the mess.
"Some one placed it in there after the party. I don't know who would break into my house to do it, although, you were a prime suspect at one point," she countered before locking her bedroom door to get ready. A locked door wouldn't have stopped him from coming in, but it did set some sort of boundary.
The trip to see Finn wasn't as long as she planned. The siblings sat in the front of the car while she tried to past the time in the back. Klaus was trying to devise a plan with Rebekah on how to take down Finn to bring him back to Mystic Falls. Klaus would talk to his older brother while Rebekah and Elizabeth would wait just in case things would get out of hand. They parked the car and spotted Finn walking by himself. Klaus bid them a farewell and took off after him. The girls were now stuck with themselves.
"Why didn't you ever tell me about my past?" Elizabeth asked causing Rebekah to look away from her. She knew about all of this as well and never bothered to tell her. The blonde vampire continued to look around not sure about the current situation.
"I'm sorry, Elijah told me not to," she spoke quickly before Finn suddenly appeared before them. Elizabeth smiled as Rebekah stood up for herself. Klaus suddenly grabbed Finn slamming him to several walls before he eventually passed out on the ground. The ride to his house was a lot shorter with him speeding to race home. Klaus shoved Finn through the walls and the brunette slid on the floor.
"You can't force me," he countered back glaring at his younger brother. A wave of his hand and a red head vampire walked down the stairs. They quickly hugged and started to get acquainted once more. Elizabeth suddenly felt awkward being in the house again. Rebekah excused herself to torture a vampire by the name of Damon Salvatore.
"I should, uh, head home and get ready for work," she smiled and turned on her heel walking out. She didn't want to spend a second longer with any of them. She looked outside the door and took off before he could give an excuse for her to stay.
Elizabeth tried to throw herself in to her work to forget about everything that happen the last couple of days. Elijah's sudden absence and Klaus' usual erratic behavior was draining. She washed the counters time and time again to keep her mind occupied. She asked people about their dining experience to just have some sort of small talk. One thing couldn't escape her mind; the thought of all of the Originals gone from her life seemed like a gift and a curse.
Kol and Klaus deserved whatever horrible, bitter end they would eventually receive. Elijah and Rebekah didn't deserve this. She started to think of life if it had been just those two siblings alive. Elijah and Elizabeth would have been married with children. Rebekah would have found the man of her dreams to whisk her away to a great life. She decided to drift away from her thoughts and saw Finn with a woman drinking tequila. She never quite understood the man. He sentenced his siblings to death and now he was enjoying a drink. Matt walked to their table and was ordered to get more drinks.
Matt prepared the drinks for them adding some liquid into the drinks. He seemed nervous about something yet she didn't think much of it.
"Here hand these to them. I need to do something really quick," he handed her the two shot glasses quickly. Elizabeth walked to the table handing them their drinks. Finn looked at her with a crooked smile. His girlfriend thanked her and took a quick sip. They spat out their drinks quickly tasting the vervain. Matt grabbed Elizabeth as Finn took off after the vampire that walked out of the Mystic Grill.
"Come on, we have to help Stefan with taking down Finn," he started to usher her in the back with him. The feeling in her stomach almost made her hurl. Elijah and everyone were still linked to each other. She wanted to stop them, but knew this was for the best. He was the epitome of evil. Elizabeth hid with the Gilbert girl and Matt in the kitchen listening to the commotion outside. Her heart started to race wondering what his siblings were doing. The door was suddenly opened and Elena shot a cross bow at Finn.
Elizabeth's breath was caught in her throat. The stake went through Finn and he immediately fell to the ground. The door was immediately closed and the red head closed her eyes. Klaus, Kol, Rebekah, and Elijah were now going to die. She would be the oldest vampire alive. The strongest vampire to reign over the world was going to be her. She tried to collect her thoughts thinking about something else.
"I think I am going to go home," she looked at her watch and walked off to clock out. Her thoughts were starting to eat at her brain. Everyone that she grew up with was now dead. She tried to imagine a life without them for good like she had once before. Her mind was racing not knowing where to go. She wanted to know if the spell worked. Were her childhood friends still alive?
She needed to call Rebekah. Klaus wasn't exactly the nicest person to get answers from. She called Rebekah wanting to make sure she was at her family's house. The blonde vampire was eager to have her come over. Elizabeth was finally going to get the answers to the doubts in her mind. She pulled up in the long driveway and quickly exited her car.
A few soft knocks on the door and she was quickly greeted by her fellow vampire. She walked inside once Rebekah opened the door wider for her.
"I am glad that you and everyone is still alive. Looks like the Bennett witch did a good job. I need to know about my past from your point of view. Elijah is gone to who knows where. Klaus told me some about it last night, but wasn't exactly the nicest about it. Kol, well, I don't think I would ever ask him in a million years," she sighed and looked at her friend.
"We grew up together. Nothing more happened to you when you were a child," the woman shrugged as if brushing off the question.
"That isn't what you implied earlier today. Are you feeling alright?" she asked cautiously. She didn't want to set the Original off on a tantrum. The blonde vampire appeared stoic and wasn't acting like her normally, bubbly self.
"I am fine. Why don't you sit down and relax?" she asked moving her arm to point towards the couch in front of her. Elizabeth sat down starting to sense something was definitely wrong. She felt the other woman play with her hair.
"Oh, Elizabeth, you know the worst thing about your past that you couldn't quite let go of?" the other asked in a cruel and mocking tone. Elizabeth was about to stand up to move away from the deranged woman.
"You are too trusting," she shook her head and smiled. Elizabeth tried to grab her arm to pull her off. Esther must have possessed Rebekah's body, but how? Esther was in hiding and Finn was dead.
"I thought you would have stayed away from my family after the vervain in your water bottles, but clearly, you are just a pathetic little fool," Esther, inside of Rebekah's body, laughed as she continued to watch the girl struggle. Elizabeth couldn't possibly hurt the woman that practically raised her as a child.
"Let me go! What do you want from me?" she asked as a tear slowly slid down her cheek. The fire in the fireplace started to roar as Esther's laughter grew louder.
"I want you and my damned children off this world," she growled and snapped Elizabeth's neck. Elizabeth suddenly slumped on the couch with none of the other Originals knowing of their impending doom.
