Here's the next chapter! Thank you for waiting!

~Happy Reading!

Annabeth

"Annabeth, I have to go. I'm really sorry." What? What does he mean he has to go? This was the first time they've seen each other in days and they were having an amazing time. At least she was having an amazing time. Annabeth didn't want this night to end, this has been the most fun she's had in so long, especially since she rarely gets to hang out with Percy alone these days. And now he has to go? Percy put his phone back in his pocket. He seemed panicked and on edge. "We'll talk later okay? I promise we'll hang out soon."

"Percy, you look sick, is something the matter?" Annabeth noticed that his watch was flashing faintly. It was also making a very quiet beeping noise. That was strange for a non-smart wristwatch...

It also sounded familiar.

"It's um," Percy looked incredibly nervous. He looked scared and unable to process thought. Annabeth was worried that he was gonna blow a fuse. She didn't want him to be worried about anything. This was supposed to be a special night they shared together. It's supposed to be a fun night. "It's my dad. He wants me to go home."

Her mouth formed an 'o', meaning she understood. Annabeth knew how strict Percy's father was. He was a total asshole. Annabeth wished she could steal Percy from him at any given chance.

"I'm really sorry. But hey," Percy gave her his boutonniere and pressed a quick kiss on her head. Annabeth felt butterflies flutter in her stomach. Her cheeks were beginning to grow warm. "I had an amazing time tonight. Thanks for being my date."

"Thanks for being mine. Love you, Perce." She couldn't help but be that gushy best friend whenever Percy was being the gushy best friend. She secretly loved when he had his intimate moments.

"Love you, too. We'll hang out soon. I promise." Percy hugged her one last time before leaving. Percy ran down the stairs and left Annabeth on the rooftop.

Annabeth couldn't stop thinking about the watch. How could it be flashing? That's something she's never noticed before. She doesn't think she's ever seen that before. To her, it always looked like a normal old watch.

Unless...

No. That was impossible. That was completely impossible. He's a totally normal guy. He can't possibly be a spy. Even if he were, there's no way he could be from Jupiter. He's too good of a person, much, much too kind-hearted. Annabeth could even bear to think that Percy had any trace of evil in him. Plus she's never seen anyone who looks like him from Jupiter or any other spy facility. Well, to be fair, not like you can see anyone at all when they're in uniform. The masks cover practically everything.

Annabeth was startled when something in her purse began beeping. It was her watch as well. She was being alerted to a mission.

Annabeth couldn't believe it.

Piper emerged from the rooftop stairwell and was panting. She gave Annabeth a stern looked and a small nod. "We've gotta go."

" "

The moment the two girls stepped into the helicopter, they were ready to fight. Gone were the fancy dresses, the makeup, and the jewelry. They had thrown their normal lives aside.

"Mission file says we're off to fight The Minotaur," Annabeth told Piper. The two were busy reading their mission file from Piper's watch while a hologram of Captain Athena was being projected from Annabeth's watch. "Anything specific we'll need to know, Captain?"

"Nothing quite special. The Minotaur is nothing you two can't handle. Just be quick on your feet. You two have the best knife and dart skills out of everyone in the facility. Use it to your advantage. Don't let anyone from Jupiter stop you. Remember, you will most likely keep encountering Jupiter agents because they are trying to get as many recruits as they can for their army." Captain Athena advised. The Captain knew that her two best agents were able to handle everything that gets thrown in their way. There were no doubts that the mission will go smoothly. "You two will be dropped to your location soon. Coordinates have been sent to your watches. Good luck, both of you." The hologram of Captain Athena disappeared and the two Half-Blood agents prepared for drop-off.

They shot out of the helicopter and managed to land safely. They were on some sort of cave-like island. It was completely deserted. The place looked as though no one had lived here since the dinosaurs roamed the Earth and frankly, Annabeth could definitely see why. She did admit it was a reasonable place for a villain's hideout, however.

"C'mon, let's go find this guy, and take back whatever it is he stole from those labs." Night Owl motioned for Hypnosis to follow her, together they tip-toed into the cave. Weapons at hand, the two agents kept a lookout for any movement. They were ready to spring at any moment if they saw something move.

Keeping her voice low, Hypnosis asked, "See anything?" Night Owl shook her head. They've made some good progress going into the cave and she was starting to grow suspicious. It was as though no one ever lived here...

"NIGHT OWL, WATCH OUT!" Before Night Owl could react, her face met the ground and her cheek was pounding from whatever - or whoever - just kicked her in the face. "I'll get them!"

"I don't want you." Night Owl knows that voice. She can recognize it from anywhere. "It's her I want." Night Owl opened her eyes to find Shark Bait pointing at her.

"Well, you'll have to come get me! Hypnosis, go! Find The Minotaur and retrieve whatever's been stolen!" Night Owl commanded at the top of her lungs. With no hesitation, Hypnosis bolted further into the cave, leaving Night Owl to go head to head with Shark Bait.

The mighty Night Owl prepared for battle. She couldn't exactly figure out why Shark Bait decided to show his face at the scene of the crime. To recruit The Minotaur, perhaps, for Jupiter's elite team of villains? She positioned herself in battle stance, fists in front of her face, legs holding her steady in a horse stance. A little hand-to-hand combat is always fun.

Shark Bait withdrew a gun from his belt of weapons.

"Cheater." She whispered.

Shark Bait began to shoot wildly at her. Every shot he made was every shot she dodged. The more he shot, the more bullets he wasted.

Night Owl tumbled around the cave using the stalagmites as cover, thinking up ways to sneak attack him.

"Come out, come out, Night Owl! Show yourself!"

"HYAH!" Night Owl threw one of her many daggers at him, hoping to strike him in the arm or leg. As she peered around the rock, she saw he had dodged it with ease. His eyes had a glint of mischief in them. She'd seen that look before, but where?

"You'll have to try a little harder, darling. You've gotten a lot worse." Shark Bait chuckled evilly. "It's as if you're not even trying anymore."

"Try me!"

Night Owl lunged at him, throwing several darts at him and they all unfortunately missed. Shark Bait was approaching her fast. Night Owl threw catapulted herself into the air, attempting to strike him from above. She took out a few darts mid-air, thrusting them at him. One struck his arm, another on his shoulder. Shark bait cried out in pain but seemed to be fine seconds later. He ripped the darts out of him as if they didn't affect him at all.

Night Owl could make out the shape of a grin underneath Shark Bait's mask. Night Owl got into a battle stance, holding her dagger in one hand and a fist the in the other. Her anger was about to erupt, like a volcano that could no longer contain itself. "Something funny?"

He let loose a quiet, evil chuckle. His eyes contained a lethal amount of darkness. Shark Bait tutted Night Owl and said, "Oh, Night Owl. I thought you were so much smarter. Haven't you figured out that there's no one else here? There is no minotaur, Hypnosis is off chasing the wind."

Night Owl blinked in confusion, slowly lowering her battle stance. She wasn't sure she heard that right. "Excuse me?"

"The Minotaur never stole anything from any lab. Hell, there is no Minotaur. We made it all up. Aren't you supposed to be smart, oh wise one?"

"Why the hell are we here then?" Night Owl demanded. "Why are we even fighting if there's nothing to fight for?"

"Hey, you got ready to fight first. I just played along."

To her surprise, Shark Bait lowered his weapons. He placed them back on his belt, slowly walking towards her. He took his sweet, sweet time. Night Owl refused to let her guard down. He got strangely close to her face, staring into her eyes. For some reason, Night Owl resisted the urge to attack him there and then. There was a sense of familiarity with him.

"Grey eyes. That's interesting, not really something you see every day. I only know one or two other people with grey eyes. They're rather beautiful, Night Owl." He complimented. Night Owl held back a snarl. She's classier than that. "Who are you anyway? All these years - three, to be exact - we've been fighting and we've never gotten to know each other. That's a bit of a shame isn't it?"

"I could care less about getting to know you. You should know that's not my job." Night Owl bit back. "My job is to kick your ass and rip Jupiter to shreds. I'd rather rip you to shreds."

Shark Bait had the audacity to laugh at her. He didn't seem to be frightened whatsoever. She used to be able to at least make him flinch. "Oh Night Owl, you're so cute."

"I wouldn't use that word around me. I'm anything but cute." She growled.

Being so close to one another, Night Owl took the time to examine him as well. She's never seen him so up close, not that there was much to see. She could see his eyes, but that was it. His uniform's mask covered his nose and lips, as well as his hair, much like her mask. Maybe underneath that mask, he was a normal human being like anyone else. Maybe he's just like her, and he's just trying to convince everyone he's a normal teenager. She took note of his eyes. They were sea green and gorgeous. They sparkled in the moonlight. Something about his eyes was so, so, so familiar...

Night Owl couldn't help but whisper, "Percy?"

Suddenly, Shark Bait stiffened up. He threw a punch in her face and struck her cheek. Night Owl yelped, unable to process what exactly was happening in her head. As she fell, her mask got caught on a small stalagmite, snagging on her mask and pulled it back slightly revealing several strands of curls.

Night Owl turned back to find Shark Bait staring at her, completely mortified.

She reached for her darts only to realize she had used them all. There was something else in her pocket. It wasn't sharp enough to be a dart but it'll have to make do.

She pelted her silver, owl hairpin at him. Night Owl threw it as hard as she could. She didn't want what she thought was happening to be a reality. She wanted to break this reality. She didn't even care if she hit him or not, she just wanted to get out of here.

"Hypnosis! Retreat! There's nothing here! I'll meet you at headquarters!" This has been the only time she has had to use the emergency smoke bombs, and she was glad that they weren't as useless as she thought. Annabeth quickly threw one onto the cave floor. The cave began filling with smoke. Annabeth ran as fast as her legs could take her back to the jet.

The moment Annabeth saw the jet, she began to sprint. She didn't want whatever had just happened to come true. She didn't want that to be Percy. She didn't want Shark Bait, her arch nemesis, to be her best friend. She didn't want any of this to be real, she wanted all of this to be a dream.

So she ran. She ran off hoping to escape this god-awful nightmare.

Luckily, Piper was already on the jet. "Night Owl! I searched everywhere only to find The Minotaur-"

"Isn't here!" Annabeth finished for her. "I know! Let's go! Go!"

"But Annabe-"

"JUST GO!" She screamed at the pilot. "Don't talk to me." She knew Piper was hurt, but when Annabeth was angry, she was angry. It was best to respect her wishes. Everyone knew that.

Annabeth was just full of rage and hurt. She took the furthest seat in the back of the jet. Pulling her mask off her head, she buried her face in her palms and began to sob.

This all couldn't be real. It just couldn't.

"I don't want this to be real," Annabeth whispered this to herself over and over again all the way home, hoping things would change. She hoped, prayed even, but she knew that no matter how hard she wished, it was real.

She was exposed. Her arch nemesis was exposed. Her arch nemesis is her best friend. This was a nightmare she couldn't escape.

WOO! Three years in the making and we FINALLY have a reveal chapter! It's funny because this is definitely not how I planned the reveal when I was in high school.

I really hope you enjoyed this chapter! It's been highly anticipated for quite some time (I'm so sorry). One thing that I would like to address is the potential continuity errors? I had a pretty different storyline when I was very, very invested in this story back in high school and when I picked up this story where it was left off, I didn't really re-read any of the previous chapters which explains why some things are a little out of place. But! I'm really trying to shimmy back into my original plot line and add in a few new ideas I've had. TL;DR, sorry for plot holes, I'm trying hard to patch them up!

I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Next one should be up soon :)

Review this maybe? Thanks!
