Chapter Seven: Intruder and Guardian

Flashback

His eyes are green.

All I can see is green, as I slowly stand and move silently towards him as he closes the passage, his back to me. My hand snaps out and grabs the back of his neck. My voice is rough and dangerous when I speak to him, "Explain who you are and why you are here now. If you're not quick I might just kill you."

End Flashback

Zeke

After we spilt up I headed towards the front and ascend the grand staircase. I slowly went through the rooms until I was through the map room. I paused and looked towards the door into the girls' bathroom, but blocking my view was Gary holding the neck of a guy beside the side table of 'treasures'. I just watch quietly for a moment when I notice that Gary is about to speak.

His voice is so rough and filled with anger when he says, "Explain who you are and why you are here now. If you're not quick I might just kill you."

I am in instant motion when I hear those words. I gently push Gary off the guy to grab the intruder's arms and force them behind his back. At first I could tell that Gary wanted to growl at me for interfering, but then he notices my grip and his eyes get a dangerous gleam to them. I look him in the eyes and say, "He is too young."

Gary's whole body freezes as he looks at me. He slowly nods at that before he growls out, "Green."

I look down at the guy I am holding for a second before shoving him forward and forcibly turning him around. His eyes are wide in shock and fear, but Gary is right.

Everyone knows that particular shade of green, ever since Abbey had that encounter, she would draw eyes.

Green eyes.

For so long she would get frustrated and throw the images out, until one day Aunt Nami brought Aunt Hancock a bracelet with emeralds on it as a birthday present. Abbey took one look at the emeralds and started screaming, she started backing away so quickly that no one was able to get to her in time. She backed right off of the Sunny and nearly drowned. Her parents and brothers felt useless as none of them could save her, all being hammers. Dad and Curly were the ones that leaped in and saved her, but the whole time Damon was hovering over the water, searching for a sign of her.

Now I know why Gary is so agro. I kind of want to stab the guy myself or at least rip his eyes out. I suddenly let him go and slap Gary, who slaps me in return. We both shake our thoughts off, Gary turns away to go and ring the bell to signify a family meeting is in order as an intruder was found, as well as grab Damon to confirm or deny the guys identity. I grab the guy and push him in front of me to Uncle Luffy's study, which should really be called a formal play room.

I push the door open, but don't enter yet. Lucky I didn't for a bucket of water fell down from the top of the door to land harmlessly on the floor. I shake my head as I push the guy past the bucket and into the room. As we walk across the room I can tell the guy is terrified, especially when I suddenly pull him back and push him to the ground as I drop down beside him. His eyes somehow get wider in fear as electricity starts to spark around us.

I slowly count to ten before standing up and brushing myself off, then I watch as the guy slowly pushes himself into a sitting position, the whole time staring at the sculptor of a shadowy figure with green emeralds for eyes. The emeralds are the exact colour as his eyes.

Before either of us could say anything the door opens again, which is followed by a very loud, "AWWW MAN!"

I look towards the door and call out, "Sorry Uncle Luffy, but I had to get the intruder in the room before Abbey saw him."

It still shocks everyone how quick Uncle Luffy can become so serious in a matter of a second. It walks right into the room and his hands go to two certain places on the walls, a few seconds after they slap the walls electricity flows up his arms and through his body before disappearing. Then his hands snap back to his side and he walks slowly towards the intruder and mutters, "Green."

Dad is suddenly by his side staring at the intruder as well. He grunts before looking at Uncle Luffy and stating "Too young."

Then dad turns on his heel and drops onto the couch were he promptly falls asleep, which brings on the anger from Curly. Who runs into the room just to kick dad in the head, which I have, and will always, find weird. Then Aunt Nami, Aunt Robin and Aunt Hancock walk in, all wearing towels, which gives curly a bloody nose. Aunt Nami hits him in the back of the head and whispered something in his ear, which he loudly and viciously denies. Somehow dad knows exactly what Aunt Nami said to Curly because they share a look before bursting into laughter.

Aunt Robin smiles in amusement at their antics, but Aunt Hancock starts glaring straight at them, which causes them all to look and she an extremely pissed off mother who was forced to leave her terrified daughter in someone else's hands. They all gulp before looking innocently towards the intruder, which does change who Aunt Hancock focuses her anger on.

Slowly but surely she walks towards the intruder, who realizes how much danger he is in so he backs away with every step Aunt Hancock takes. Before she can reach him Damon flies over her head and lands before the intruder and stares at him for a full minute while everyone stands or sits frozen, watching and waiting for his verdict. Before anyone can react Damon punches the guy in the face and shouts, "That's for spying on my family in the bath you pervert." He turns towards us and states, "Not him." Then he walks out.

As he goes out Uncle Franky, Uncle Usopp, Uncle Chopper and Uncle Brooke come running in. As soon as Uncle Chopper sees an injured person he goes into his doctor mode and starts checking him over, but suddenly stops, pulls back before turning angry eyes at us and asks "Verdict?"

Uncle Luffy nods once, before answering, "Just a pervert, like Sanji and Franky."

Curly instantly screams, "I AM NOT!"

Though Uncle Franky blushes and says, "Awww, thanks."

I turn towards Uncle Franky and state clearly, "That guy saw Aunt Robin, Olivia and Nickie naked in the bath."

Uncle Franky instantly lifts an arm and changes it into a bazooka which he aims at the intruder. He growls out, "You saw my wife and girls naked. Death."

Then he fires, but dad cuts the bullet out of the air and stands firmly in front of the intruder. He watches everyone before saying to Uncle Chopper, "Take him to the infirmary. Fix him up. Restrain him. Do not leave his side."

Uncle instantly nods before changing into his monster form, picks up the guy and leaves the room. Uncle Franky didn't know what to do, chase Uncle Chopper and kill the intruder or kill dad for stopping him from killing the intruder. Before he can decide I speak up, "Maybe we should find out how he knows about one of the secret passages in the house before we kill him and find out if he is maybe related to that monster." At my last comment I jerk my thumb towards the shadowy statue.

Uncle Luffy looks at the statue before saying, "Go collect your families and take them to the garden. Tell them there may be danger and to be on guard. Check them for any disturbances and then report back here with what you find. Zeke go tell Damon to scout the beach with Gary for any changes or signs of landing, if there are none tell them to make a quick check of the cliffs and the reef. Hancock, can you go get Ace and Garp and check the house?"

Aunt Hancock instantly swooned towards him and answer energetically with "Of course my love" before she ran out the room and scream, "Garp you useless oaf your precious great granddaughter is in danger so you have to help me!"

No one spoke in confirmation just nodded and went their ways, while Garp screamed, "My Abbey!"

I shook my head at his stupidity before heading out to find Damon and Gary.

Damon

I walk up the stairs, just remembered those eyes. The colour is so distinct. They match the ones from my memories to perfect, but the face itself is different. Too young, darker and more open, plus I remember a small scar on his nose. This kid had none.

He still deserved the punch. He saw Pe– I mean Abbey and the rest naked. Plus he terrified Abbey.

"What's wrong?"

I look up in shock at the question and realize I had been so lost in thoughts that I had made it back to our guests. I shake my head and focus on them. I look at Connor, he asked the question, and answered, "There is an intruder. I want to rip his eyes out. Then I want to fly so high in the sky that when I drop him he will be nothing but a puddle of gunk when he lands."

Junior instantly askes, "Green?"

I nod sharply before turning on my heel and saying over my shoulder, "We have to go to the garden and set up the perimeter. Maybe those two can help."

They follow me to the window that I pushed Gary out of. I look at them and grab Devils right arm and Connors left before dragging them out the window. I let us drop for a moment before letting my wings grow out from my shoulder blades and through the inbuilt slits to their full beauty. I flap them once then glide towards the gazebo.

That is when Junior kicks me in the head. I look up and glare at him as I hover in place. Devil and Connor stare at Junior as he stands on air glaring at me. Then Junior snaps at me, "We could have taken the stairs."

I get my evil smirk which has the two I hold stare at me and Junior give me a suspicious look. My smirk just gets bigger as I say, "If we don't get their quick enough then the girls will have to do the work. Plus the intruder was spying on them in the bath."

Junior's eyes turn to flames and his head turns towards the gazebo, then back to the house and back to the gazebo. He nods once before running on air towards the gazebo yelling, "I shall protect you my loves! Except Hazel!"

Devil looks at me and blandly states, "You manipulated him."

I smile proudly down at him and say, "Of course."

Connor looks at me with a puzzled expression as I start flying towards the gazebo, before he asks, "Why does he not want to protect Hazel?"

We had arrived at the barrier so I landed as I answered Connor "Well they are twins. Hazel makes his life a living hell whenever she can. The battles between them are hilarious."

I hold my hand out straight towards the barrier and start to open my mouth to say the usual entry thing, when I remember the two behind me. I look at them over my shoulder and say, "Put a hand on my shoulder." I wait as they do as I say with confused looks on their faces as they could not see the barrier, then I turn back to the barrier and state clearly and firmly, "I, Monkey Boa D. Damon, request permission from the Guardian for myself and my two guests, Connor and Devil, entry to the Sacred Grove."

Slowly a doorway appears out of thin air. I step forward slowly, they follow me step for step until we are through the doorway. I shrug my shoulders slightly which makes them remove their hands. I motion them forward towards the gazebo, were I can see Gary sitting calmly as Junior rushes about setting up comfortable places for the girls to sit.

When Gary notices us he raises his hands and says loudly, "Finally people that will actually be able to help protect everyone. Connor can you grow the thorn bush around the perimeter until it is about four metres high. Devil can you help Damon set up the moat traps. I have checked the barrier, but we have to wait for Olivia to fix the gap in the barrier that Junior just ripped into it."

Laughing I wave Connor and Devil to where we just entered. I motion at Connor to start his thing, before saying, "Go on ahead of us. Devil just copy what I do from this side."

I stop Devil before a small, barely there line, which you would only notice if you knew it was there. I walk over with Connor and stop after the other barely there line. I motion to Connor to start his thing. Slowly the thorn bush gets bigger and thicker, while he slowly moves away from us.

As soon as he is a few feet away I get down on my knees and press my hands against the line gently. I look up at Devil and say, "Look closely. There is a line. Small, but it is there. Press the tips of your fingers against it gently and when I say 'now' press down hard. Got that?"

Devil nods once while he scans the ground for the line. He kneels down and spots it. It places his fingertips on the line and looks across at me. I nod as I move my fingers gently, before speaking loudly, "If it pleases the Guardian of the Sacred Grove, I, Monkey Boa D. Damon, and my guest, Devil, wish to open part of the protection measures as an intruder has entered the island."

I wait patiently and then I feel it, the lightest tap on my right shoulder and I say, "Now."

Devil and I push down at the same time and the dirt trap door drops down a foot before disappearing. Each trap door is about three meters between Devil and I and six meters the other way with a curve to it. I rise to my feet and motion him to follow my steps exactly. We slowly circle the perimeter kneeling down to push the trap doors open.

Connor finishes before us and crosses over the trap doors that we have not removed yet. He then watches Devil and I as we open the last two trap doors. I wave to Devil to bow his head then I say clearly, "Thank you Guardian of the Sacred Grove for allowing me, Monkey Boa D. Damon, and my guest, Devil, to protect those we care for."

I keep my head bowed as a feel the feather light touch on my left shoulder and only raise my head when I hear Devils surprised gasp. I snicker at his look of shock on his face before calmly leaping into the air for my wings to appear so I can glide over the moat of deadly spikes. I land beside Devil and say, "The Guardian is a wonderful creature that respects you for helping to protect others, which is the reason for the touch on your left shoulder."

Devil's head snaps towards me and stares. Before he can say anything we hear, "I, Monkey Boa D. Abbey, request permission from the Guardian for myself, my nakama and my three guests, Susan, Adelaide and Hannah, entry to the Sacred Grove."

Both Connor and Devil watch in shock as a bridge appears over the moat and a garden arch with beautiful roses appears within the thorn bush that Connor just grew. Then the doorway appears and all the girls and the rest of the boys entered. Junior instantly goes and stands at the end of the bridge to complement all the girls, but when the boys come he insults them with their normal insults. Junior calls Tom, Aunt Robin and Uncle Franky's eldest son, 'a smelly bookworm with no taste or sense' and he calls Lance, Tom's baby brother, 'a soon to be smelly useless boy'. He ignores Zeke, because there is no chance of Zeke stealing any of his precious girls, and he calls Hazel 'a womb stealer'.

Hazel answers by smiling and saying, "That was you. I was born first."

Junior instantly glares at her. Slowly he tightens his fists, before stepping towards her, but stops when Abbey says quietly, "I'm scared."

Junior instantly turns towards her, but the Guardian appears at Abbey's side, before he can go to her. The Guardian looks like a male human, but with sink of wood, specifically cherry tree wood, his hair is green and yellow moss, his eyes are amber drops and his lips are petals of a red rose. He gently rests his hand on Abbey's head and everyone watches in awe as a gentle amber glow appears around her. Slowly her body relaxes and she calms down. She tilts her head back towards the Guardian and smiles while saying, "Thank you, Duard."

The Guardian smiles down at her before disappearing again. Junior instantly says, "I don't trust him."

Everyone just ignores him and start to head to the gazebo when Gary starts laughing. Everyone looks at him and he points towards Junior, which makes everyone look at him to see a wood hand making bunny ears behind his head. Everyone is laughing now, even the guests.

I turn my head slightly to see that there is one person not laughing, instead he has eyes for only one person. I watch as Zeke watches Gary smile and laugh with everyone with the most gentle and loving look I have ever seen. I know in that moment that Gary has been depressed and we have all missed the signs. Except Zeke.

I am glad he is here now. He will help Gary and everything will be on track again.
