Chapter 7
"So where do you guys think you want to eat?" Rachel asked the group as they left Test Track. They had easily made it through most of the attractions and learning pavilions in Epcot. Rachel was looking forward to exploring the World Showcase and seeing all the differences.
"Actually Rach, we were thinking of splitting up" Brittany mentioned casually, while glancing at the other two Cheerios who nodded furiously behind Rachel. Quinn silently thanked the Lord that Santana had gotten Brittany on board with the plan because she was the most believable of all of three of them.
"Split up? Why?" Rachel asked as they made their way to the World Showcase. Brittany grabbed Rachel's arm and pulled her aside.
"I kind of want to take San out to dinner and dessert, but I want her to think it's casual. Plus I'm sure you and Quinn would enjoy some time alone" Brittany said with a wink, "Just think about how romantic it was in Magic Kingdom with those fireworks . . . and that was before you guys even really liked each other!"
"I guess you're right, Quinn and I really can make the most of this alone time" Rachel said.
"I bet you can," Brittany said smirking which arned a light smack on the arm from Rachel and a astounded "Brittany!"
Both girls were laughing as they returned to the other two Cheerios; Brittany took Santana's hand and dragged her along to the Canada side of the World Showcase while Quinn and Rachel hesitantly walked in the other direction.
"So did you want to grab something to eat?" Quinn asked. It was nearly 5 o'clock and neither one of them had eaten much during the day at Epcot. They spent on lines for Mission Space, Soarin', Spaceship Earth and other attractions with a quick snack inbetween all the lines.
"I'm starving! There's so many options here. What were you thinking?" Rachel asked as they walked through the Mexco Pavillion.
"We could get Italian or try Germany if you wanted," Quinn suggested and Rachel nodded.
"That sounds like a plan!" Rachel said as they continued through Norway browsing at the carts selling themed souvieners. Once they made their way through the China Pavillion they paused as a show was starting.
"Quinn! You absolutely have to see this, these acrobats are fantastic!" Rachel said, eagerly pulling Quinn towards the Chinese acrobats so she could see better. Quinn relished the warmth that shot through her the instant Rachel touched her hand and she smiled as she felt the diva lace their fingers together and not let go even as they stood watching the acrobats. It was amazing to see the skill of the performers, who balanced on top of each other and did various flips in the air; but Quinn's favorite part was listening to Rachel gasp in delight at each trick the performers did. The brunette clearly just had no idea how entrancing she was when she truly enjoyed something. Quinn could spend days just watching Rachel enjoy something.
After the show the continued on towards the German Pavillion with their hands still interlocked and both girls smiling ear to ear.
"As a performer myself, I just love seeing others who have a miraculous stage presence. Don't you agree? I mean Glee is just a stepping stone to bigger and better performances," Rachel rambled as they walked.
"I'm sure people love seeing you perform just as much as you love seeing others. I know I do, you're miraculous yourself Rachel Berry," Quinn said to the shorter girl. Rachel blushed and thanked Quinn in response. They stopped outside of the German shops and Quinn glanced around. Christmas had just passed but it was always one of Quinn's favorite holidays. Judy and Quinn always went all out for Christmas, and especially now that Russell was gone the holidays were a lot more cheerful. Quinn wanted to get something for her mom just because they both loved it so much.
"Rach, can we stop inside of the Christmas store real quick?" Quinn asked and Rachel nodded, "I know you don't celebrate but I'd just love to look for something for my mom."
"Quinn, of course, I don't mind. I even love the Christmas spirit despite not celebrating. It's hard not to," Rachel said as they walked into Die Weihnachts Ecke, the store where it's Chritmas all year round. As they browsed the store Rachel stumbled upon a bunch of ornament pickles.
"Quinn, are pickles traditionally a Chirstmas item?" she asked. Quinn turned towards the other girl and chuckled as she grabbed one off the rack.
"No, but it is a German tradition actually. You hide the pickle and the one who finds it on Christmas morning supposedly gets an extra present and good luck" Quinn explained. She looked over the glass ornament pickle. This actually might be exactly the type of present to get her mom. Something to start a new tradition with, one without her father in the picture. Quinn smiled as she paid for it, hopefully her mom would like it. The two girls made their way into the Biergarten restaurant, deciding to try something different than pasta considering the only reastaurant in Lima was Breadstix and while the Italian pavillion almost definitely had better food than Breadstix, they would have more than enough date nights full of pasta to come.
Inside the restaurant they were seated and given plates for the buffet. Rachel, of course, filled her plate with the vegetarian options both hot and cold while Quinn tried some Pork Schnitzel and grilled Bratwurst. After dinner, and the show that came with it, they left skipping dessert. As much as Rachel wanted to try the delicious look fruit salad, she had a plan for dessert later on and wanted to make sure she could treat Quinn.
"So we still have two hours until the Illuminations show, do you trust me?" Rachel asked coyly. Qunn smiled suspiciously before answering.
"Of course I do. What did you have in mind?"
"Just follow me!" Rachel said excitedly as she lead Quinn towards the back exit of the park.
"Where are we going? Are we leaving Epcot?" Quinn asked but Rachel didn't respond and just dragged Quinn through the turnstile. They walked through the picturesque street-lamp lit pathway until Quinn saw where Rachel had taken her. The path lead around a lake with hotels on their side and shops on the Disney Boardwalk.
"I was thinking we could rent some bikes and ride around and explore the shops across the way until it's time for the fireworks," Rachel said with a shy smile.
"That would be perfect."
With a half hour to spare Rachel and Quinn walked back into Epcot, and Rachel pulled Quinn towards the France pavillion. They grabbed dessert from the pavillion, which Rachel insisted on paying for despite Quinn's protests, and found a bench to sit on and wait for the show.
"I never in my wildest dreams thought this would be something I'd be doing," Rachel said.
"What? Eating a fruit parfait while waiting for fireworks?" Quinn asked with a smile.
"No, sitting with THE Quinn Fabray, head Cheerio, in Disney World and enjoying a romantic dessert with fireworks," Rachel responded dryly.
"Oh," Quinn looked down at her chocolate mousse and ignored Rachel staring at her. Quinn felt Rachel shuffle and then wrap her arm around her waist and lay her head on Quinn's shoulder.
"It's definitely not a bad thing, just an unexpected thing. I sometimes get confused as to how we ended up her in the span of less than a week," Rachel said as she adjusted her head and Quinn got a whiff of her delicious smelling strawberry shampoo, "I keep thinking that this is just a result of us being in a different place, and returning to Lima will put us right back where we were before this trip."
Rachel, despite displaying a normally confident outward appearance, couldn't help but feel very exposed with everything happening with Quinn lately and it wasn't a feeling she was accustomed to. She didn't know how to handle her own emotions today, because she didn't want to get her hopes up just to be crushed when they returned to Ohio. Quinn shuffled around to turn Rachel to face her. She looked into her eyes and brushed a strand of hair put of her face.
"Rachel, I mean every word that I'm about to say to you, I honestly and truly have feelings for you. I know that I've done some horrible things in the past, things that are inexcusable but part of me was trying to fit this mold that I felt forced into all while trying to ignore my actual feelings, and of course there's a reason that all my actions were directed at you, because I refused to accept how I actually felt. It's no explanation for my actions but I don't want you to think that things will go back to how they were before. I've finally reached a point where I'm comfortable with both my family and myself, I know it will be adjustment but I really want to try and do this with you, if you're interested in that too. I'd really just like to be with you and show you how much I care for you," Quinn rambled on as Rachel couldn't help but smile at the blonde. The second the Head Cheerio took a break Rachel cut her off.
"Quinn, honestly I didn't mean it in a bad way. I was genuinely curious how a girl as pretty as you could seem to have feelings for a girl like me - "
"You're wonderful Rachel. No – don't roll your eyes, I mean it; you're beautiful, smart, talented, funny, kind hearted. There are so many reasons for everyone to fall for you, don't sell yourself short" Quinn interrupted. Rachel beamed at Quinn and decided not to comment on how Quinn said she was falling for her. She leaned forward and quickly pecked the blonde on the lips.
"Rachel!"
"What?"
"You – you can't just kiss me like that!" Quinn sputtered out.
"But -"
"I just wanted our first kiss to be special! I was waiting until the fireworks!" Quinn pouted as she scooped a spoonful of her chocolate mousse into her mouth. Rachel couldn't help but to crack up. Seeing Quinn act like a petutlant child, albeit a cute one, all because of a kiss was kind of endearing.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'll pretend that didn't happen and you can wow me with your kissing capabilities," Rachel said with a chuckle.
"Are you mocking me Rach?" Quinn asked glancing towards the lagoon as the show was beginning to start.
"Mhm, definitely."
"Well, it doesn't matter because I know for a fact you'll be wowed anyway," Quinn said with a smirk.
"You better put your money where your mouth is Fabray," Rachel said and both girls laughed as they turned to watch the Illuminations show in front of them.
When the firework finale ended and Rachel's face was in awe of the show and still glowing with the aftereffects of the last fireworks Quinn did kiss her and it was definitely wow.
