"What is the matter with you?" I yelled pushing Seamus off of me.
I ran up to my dorm before Seamus could even get a word in. You don't steal that from someone. You don't steal a first kiss. It's supposed to be special, I was always told it was going to be special. Then it was stolen from me from a boy who's mad at me. I was to upset to deal with Lavender so I just threw myself onto the bed and fell asleep, clothes and all.
When I woke up in the morning Lavender was shaking me brutally and I pushed her off. She told me that Harry was out of the hospital wing and needed to talk to us. I jumped out of bed at that and changed into robes as fast as I could. With as much balance as I could for just having woken up, I followed her down the stairs quickly. Lavender lead me down a hallway to Brinns classroom which would be empty this time of the day.
"Hey guys," Harry waved to us as we joined them in the empty classroom. "I have to tell you guys something, I didn't think it was important, but now I'm realizing just how important it is."
"What's going on Harry?" Dean asked leaning beside the door to keep lookout.
"Well, I met this house elf, Dobby, he was on my bed. As a matter of fact, he got me in a lot of trouble.. He told me that I was in danger and that I shouldn't go to Hogwarts. I brushed it off but I just found out he wasn't lying." Harry took a deep breath but continued. "Colin was petrified last night. He was found with his camera and it exploded when Professor Dumbledore tried to open it. He said – he said the Chamber was opened."
"So, why are we still here? Are we safe?" Seamus asked glancing at me.
"Of course we are, after all, we're going to end up chasing whoever is doing this down. That's why it's really important to find out if it's Malfoy." I said standing and walking to the door to peek out. "We need a plan, now. We don't have any time to waste."
We all left the room and made our way to a more solitary place to talk, where there were no eavesdropping paintings or prefects complaining about us using our time wisely. We went outside to the middle of an open field where we could whisper and easily see any nosey people mucking about. Seamus sat next to me in the circle and I couldn't bring myself to look over at him. We sat discussing how we were going to make the potion. I had figured out all the timing awhile ago.
"Alright, I've already figured it out, how to make the potion in the least amount of time I mean. We have to brew the first part before I go away for Christmas, when I come back I'm going to finish it. Which means whoever is staying behind will have all break to figure that part out. I'll start it tomorrow but it won't be done until two days after Christmas break.
For the next few weeks I focused on two things; brewing the potion, and my classes. Everything else was done quickly and without thought. All of us spent the majority of our day in Myrtle's bathroom. I wasn't sure if she appreciated that or was disgusted by Ron. We all know that she didn't mind Harry in her bathroom at all. After it was ready to go and just the finishing touches were needed after a fair time of sitting and the occasional stir were needed I let myself pack up for Christmas.
I took my time because I really wanted to stay and watch over my potion but Gran wouldn't have that. Especially with the whole clan of Longbottom's at the house on Christmas. Parvati had talked to her mom and got out of coming home for the break so she was in charge of my baby. Harry and Ron were to provide a distraction for Parvati to sneak into Snape's stash and everyone else was home for the holidays. I dragged my trunk behind me and made my way to the great hall where ron, Parvati, and Harry were playing chess. I walked over to the three of them, who were isolated from everyone else in the room.
"Alright," I said glancing around me. "You have one shot at this. Please be so careful, and please, watch each others backs. I'll work on the potion when I get back." I said standing behind Ron.
"We will be, don't forget, I'm in charge." Parvati laughed and Ron and Harry both glared at her.
We chatted for a few moments before Seamus came up and asked me to walk with him. I told himI would and then said my goodbyes to the three staying behind. I walked with him down the stirs slowly.
"I'm sorry I kissed you." Seamus looked down to avoid my eyes.
"It's okay, I wasn't really mad, just, disappointed I guess." I muttered as Seamus took my trunk from my hands.
"Um, Happy Christmas." Seamus muttered awkwardly and I rolled my eyes pulling him into a quick hug.
"Happy Christmas." I whispered pulling away and walking away to meet Neville to get home.
Christmas felt like Procrastination this year. I just wanted to go back to Hogwarts and find out if Draco was trying kill my friends. But instead I was here, getting presents I didn't ask for and pinched cheeks. I was receiving cardigans and socks from family members I see twice a year and some aunts that are in need of a shave.
So when I was back on the train on my way to Hogwarts I was bouncing in my seat, Lavender, who was right next to me was laughing at Neville, who was steaming out of the ears thanks to a little candy. Lavender had to repeatedly tell me to calmly walk to the potion otherwise it would be suspicious. We came to an agreement that I wouldn't go until tomorrow so I can catch up with my friends.
The welcome back feast was typical and my night was restless. I could only think of the danger our house would be in if Harry and Parvati get caught. We ate, and talked, and laughed, and Seamus was sitting beside me not being awkward at all. Everything seemed normal. Then the next morning came. The last day before classes.
Seamus and I were alone in Myrtle's bathroom brewing – with the exception of Myrtle – and I was fixing up the last bit of the potion. I wasn't talking because I couldn't afford a mistake. Seamus was a ways away from me, sitting against the wall in a comfortable silence. I stood up and that snapped Seamus out of his trance.
"Why's you do it anyway?" I asked looking over at him.
"What?" He asked standing up and walking over.
"Kiss me, why did you do that?" I clarified looking at the floor.
"I don't honestly know." He said leading me out of the bathroom to find the others.
"But you regret it?" I asked and he stopped at the door to the common room and turned.
"I apologized for it, I didn't say I regret it." He muttered going to the group.
I followed his lead and walked into the common room to talk to everyone.
"It's done," I said and everyone clapped. "Parvati, Harry, you two know what you need. Their DNA. Hair, toenails, whatever you can get. Do what you need to do and remember they'll never turn down a cupcake." I winked walking off to bed.
I felt fairly satisfied with myself but Seamus words rang through my head. I apologized for it, I didn't say I regret it.
