When you say you love me
Know I love you more
And when you say you need me
Know I need you more
Boy, I adore you, I adore you

Summer 1771.

Connor: 15 Lady: 17

The homestead was taken over by the dark of the night. Everyone was asleep in their cabins, except for those who reside in the manor. Achilles was in the basement as usual, staring at the portraits of the Templars. Connor was upstairs getting ready for rest after a long day of training. He was sitting upon his bed with a small bowl of water in his lap. He slashed water onto his face, letting the water drip down his face. Fatigue was devouring his body as he pulled his cotton shirt over his head. Gazing down at his arms, he noticed that his arms are much more muscular than last year; the training is finally paying off. His black hair tickles against his shoulders, perhaps it is time for him to pull it back. As he splashed his face with water,he heard a loud thump from across his room. The sound came from Lady's room.

"Lady, are you alright?" He shouted from his room but no answer was heard.

Groaning, he stood up and slowly walked over to her room. He knocked on the door, "Lady?", he questioned. Nothing. He knocked once more and then opened the door halfway, peering inside. He didn't see her in the room, panic overtook his mind and he barged into the room. The window was opened, the wind blowing the curtains in the air. The bed was made up and nothing was out of place. Yet, he noticed a lone envelope sitting upon the bed.

Connor began to panic and he ran over to the window. She must have walked across the roof to escape. His fingers gripped to the window's edge, anger and sadness were beginning to engulf his entire body. He managed to walk over to the bed, picking up the letter. His name was neatly handwritten on the envelop, Ratonhnhaké:ton.

His fingers began to tear at the envelop, it took complete control for him not to rip the letter in his hands. He pulled out the letter from the envelop and just stared at the paper in his hands. After a brief moment, he unfolded the letter and began to read.

I'm sorry I could not say this to you in person but that just proves how weak I am. If you're reading this, then you'll know that I am gone. I wouldn't be shocked if you ripped this in half upon seeing it. But, I'm sorry for leaving but I have to do this. This past year has been truly wonderful. You and Achilles took me when I had nowhere to go but you have to understand that I had to leave. There is someone I must find and I need to get money to locate them. I'm so sorry if you are in any pain from my absence but I had to do this. I can't tell you where I'm going and I can't tell you who is helping me get the finance. I just want you to know that I am so sorry for everything. You have been so kind to me since I met you and I didn't deserve it. I didn't deserve any of your affection because now, I'm gone. I left you and I wish I didn't leave, but I had too. You were my only friend I ever had.

Connor noticed that the writing began to get sloppy and saw the paper was crinkled. He ran his finger over it and felt the wetness. She must have been crying as she wrote her last sentences. He kept reading;

If we were in another life, perhaps this could have worked out. Maybe I could have stayed with you and maybe I could have even…

After the word 'and' there was scratches of words and it was impossible to read what she had written so he skipped over the scratched words.

Nothing I say will make this right and I understand If you hate me. I hate myself for doing this to you. What I did to us…I'm just sorry. I know you will become a strong man and find the murderer of your mother. Maybe we will meet again and if that day comes, I will understand if you slap me. But I hope that I will be just as strong as you so I can help you. I'm sorry I couldn't say this to your face. I must be a coward when it comes to you. But I want you to know that you made me so happy. I loved being with you, loved how you braided my hair, loved how you took me up in the trees, and I loved every moment I was with you. Never question that.

Ratonhnhaké:ton….I

He desperately tried to read the words after "I" but she scratched them out with the ink. He even rubbed his finger over the ink, hoping it would expose the words, but it just smeared the ink. Why did she scratch out those words!?

The assassin could only stare at the letter and he pressed the paper against his head. He wanted to rip the letter to shreds but he couldn't bring himself to do it. This was the only thing left of Lady that he has, except for his memories. He removed the letter from his hand and folded it into a small square, keeping his hazel hues on the paper.
