Chapter 7: Time
Olivia laid on her bed as she did her homework. She was almost 3 months into her senior year and she was ready for it to be over already. She hadn't talked to or seen Elliot since that night on the beach. It was now October going into November, which normally was her favorite time of year but not this year. This year she felt like nothing was the same. Meeting him was the best but worst thing that happened to her. He made her see things she never knew were in herself, she knew without a doubt she'd never find someone quite like him. He was the pain but the happiness she felt all the time, it was weird how one person could make you feel so much at once.
"Hey." Alex walked in and sat on the edge of the bed.
Olivia gave her a small smile and looked up from her school work.
"Hey."
"So…uh. Elliot is back." Alex practically choked out.
Olivia sat up quickly and looked at Alex seriously.
"You better not be messing with me." Olivia gave Alex a look.
"I swear I'm not. I just went over to Fin's and he was there. He looks rough. Finn said he wasn't doing well over where they were at either. He wasn't sleeping or eating well." Alex said softly.
"I want to see him."
Alex nodded and got up. Olivia followed and grabbed her coat on the way out. She was ready to see Elliot, she knew they probably couldn't work anything out but she still wanted to at least be friends and check on him. Alex had a car downstairs waiting for them and they both got in. Olivia just watched outside the window the whole ride there. She was feeling more nervous than she ever had when it came to Elliot.
"Are you okay? Alex asked as they pulled up to the apartment.
"Honestly? I don't know how to answer that right now." Olivia bit at her lip as she looked down at her hands.
Alex nodded and they got out of the car together, and went into Fin and Elliot's apartment. Olivia met with Elliot's eyes right away as she walked through the door. He looked at her coldly and then looked back down at his food. He was sitting at the breakfast bar, wearing sweats and no shirt. Olivia sighed at the sight of him. She never understood why someone that looked like him wanted her in the first place.
"Can we talk?" Olivia asked softly.
"I think we've said everything there is to say, Olivia." Elliot said coldly.
Elliot saying her name that way rang through her ears like she had just been smacked in the head or something. It just hurt a lot more than it should've. She knew she deserved the cold shoulder he was giving her, she just didn't like it. She had never seen him mad or upset with her. They were always laughing or having a good time since the very start of things.
Olivia cleared her throat hoping that would stop her from her voice cracking, from the tears that were welling inside the corners of her eyes.
"I know. I just want to talk." She spoke softly and looked at him, even though his back was turned.
"Fine. I'm giving you 2 minutes." He said sternly and got up and walked the hall.
She followed and closed his door as he sat on the bed. He looked down at his hands and didn't once look up at her.
"Fin said you weren't doing well. I'm worried about you."
"Oh yeah? You were real worried when you left me when I got sent out so you could do got knows what with whoever."
Olivia was taken back by his words. She wasn't that type of girl at all. She thought Elliot would've figured that out. They haven't done anything sexual, or even attempted to. She wasn't ever ready to.
"Wow, I thought you'd know me better than that. You think I'm just out sleeping with people?" Olivia breathed out, trying to keep herself composed.
"No. I don't…I'm sorry. I'm just angry. I miss you, I miss kissing you, and touching you. I miss everything about you and us." Elliot said softly.
Olivia walked over in front of him.
"Elliot look at me."
He looked up at her. She could tell he was still standoffish with her. She understood his feelings. She knew why he was upset. She missed him too, so much. She leaned down and kissed him softly. He didn't respond.
"I'm sorry." Olivia choked out.
"I can't. If you don't want to be together that's okay. We can be friends but please don't kiss me if you are still unsure."
Olivia nodded. She knew she missed him but she also knew he had hurt her and she hurt him. She wanted to focus on school and apply to colleges. She knew their timing wasn't right. She had to do what was best for them both.
"I miss you too, but I think the best thing for us both is to remain friends. We have a lot going on and I think it's the timing. I really do care about you, Elliot. I hope you never second guess that."
"I don't. I know you do. I can see it in everything you do. You're an amazing person and I'm sorry things couldn't work out, but I'm glad I met you. I now get to be best friends with the most genuine person ever, so truly I win out either way." Elliot smiled.
He stood up and hugged her tightly. She melted into his arms and inhaled him. She had missed him more than she even realized. She hoped she was making the right decision for them both. She just wanted him to be happy.
"Wanna go get a pizza?" Elliot asked.
"Oh god, yes." Olivia smiled into him.
A/N: So no one get worked up over them not being together RIGHT NOW, I got plans that have to work themselves out! Drama and maybe finally a little smut soon?
