Natsuki sighed as she turned off the switch of her recording room. The brunette took deep breaths, standing up when she felt her body calming down a bit. She wiped the sweat off of her forehead. It's been years since she did another of this. SkyZ used a lot of her energy and just made her so exhausted after one session. If she did another, she might collapse. She knows, because it happened once.
She neared the table in the middle of the room—where many papers were scattered—reaching for the energy drink on the very corner. She gulped down the contents and took another sigh. She shook her head to wake herself up, exiting the room. As she closed the door—the bookshelf that covered the door—it immediately moved itself and went back to its original position; covering the hidden door once more.
The brunette slightly jumped towards the comfy couch, lying her head on the arm supported of the couch. "Nii, I think I won't be able to focus in classes today." Natsuki suddenly voiced out, earning an amused looks from her elder brothers. Alaude smacked Natsuki's head ("Ouch, Nii!" The brunette cried), walking towards his table. "Don't use your exhaustion as an excuse, Natsuki. Go back to class." The older prefect answered back, picking up the papers given to him. His eyes twitched when he realized that the papers on his table aren't for him. "But, Lau-nii! You know that even if I went to classes, it will be only for naught!" Natsuki whined as she turned to her side and hugged the pillow on the couch. Alaude sighed. "Okay, fine."
Hearing this, Natsuki jumped in happiness (ignoring the slight dizziness she felt when she stood up). "Really, Lau-nii? Yay!" Natsuki exclaimed.
As Natsuki was about to celebrate, she saw her older brother smirk. Natsuki suddenly felt cold. She looked at his older brother warily.
Alaude patted the stacks on his table. "Here, bring these to the Student Council. Tell them that the papers for the DC and SC got mixed up. So after bringing these stacks, get the stacks for DC and bring it here." Feeling a slight irritation from Alaude, she looked at her other older brother in hope. "Kyou-nii?"
Kyouya only smirked at her.
"Ah! I hate you guys!"
Drinking the juice she got in the disciplinary committee room, Natsuki crouched in the middle of an empty corridor. Biting the straw of the juice box, Natsuki made a mess on her head. "Ahhh! Why did Alaude told me to do this? I'm not part of the disciplinary committee!" She quietly exclaimed as she stood up, glaring at her surroundings like they did something wrong to her. She softly grumbled. "The sooner you do this task, the earlier you'll finish..." She reasoned out to herself, putting on the armband that Alaude gave her. The armband had the DC design that signified that the brunette was a member of the said committee. So, if a faculty or staff or student asked why she was out of class, Natsuki only needed to show the armband to answer and give the reason why. Resuming her walk, Natsuki looked around the area. "By the way, where's the SC room?" She asked to herself.
Arriving at the end of the corridor, the brunette looked at both sides. "Where to go? Left or right?" As she tried to guess the way towards his destination, she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder. She shrieked in surprise as she jumped. "HIEEE!"
"Woah, sorry! Calm down!" The person exclaimed in surprise, voice with an obvious tone of being overwhelmed.
Turning around, Natsuki slightly glared at the person. The person sheepishly smiled as he raised both of his arms in a placating manner. "Sorry about that." He apologized once more, obviously feeling bad at what he did. As Natsuki noticed that the apology was genuine, she took deep breaths. When she felt herself calming down, she raised one brow as she asked. "Is there something you need?"
"A-Ah..." The boy stuttered, surprised at how quickly the brunette in front him recovered. "I was about to ask you why you are out of class..." He started, his eyes travelling on the arm of the brunette. "But, it seems that you are in disciplinary duty." He continued on, feeling a bit interested at the brunette in front of him. Female students joining the disciplinary committee are almost non-existent because being a member of the Disciplinary Committee meant strenuous activities; being part of the disciplinary committee meant Alaude and Kyouya; and being part of the disciplinary committee meant biting people to death. Females are frail creatures, they scare easily. No, he isn't being derogatory. There are strong females out there, even stronger than most males, but he just can't seem to think that there are females—erm, female—fine with the brothers' violence.
As far from what he could remember, there were no female members in the DC since it was founded. But lo and behold, he is now seeing one.
He chuckled.
"Ah, yes." Natsuki nodded. "I was told by Ni-Alaude-san to swap the papers because the documents given to them were for the student council." She explained, mentally wincing as she almost called Alaude as his brother in public.
The man nodded in understanding. "Is that so?" He felt his mouth twitch upwards as he noticed something. He coughed slightly, giving himself time to calm down his mirth. "May I please know your name, miss?" He asked, smiling at the brunette.
Natsuki raised a brow in slight surprise. Her mouth formed a small mocking smile. "I'm sorry, but I was not taught to give out something to someone who I have no idea about their identity." She answered back.
Feeling his eyes twitch in small annoyance, he slightly bowed. "I'm Asari Ugetsu. It's nice to meet you."
Natsuki smiled softly as she immediately fixed her posture and bowed. "Hello, I'm Sawada Natsuki. It's nice to meet you."
The man—now named Ugetsu—looked at the brunette in huge astonishment. When he saw her suddenly fixed her stature and looked at him with such confident eyes, he felt himself suddenly straightening his posture. How the brunette carried herself is very different to the people he met.
Ugetsu chuckled, bowing once more—slightly deeper this time, signifying his slight respect to the brunette in front of her. "I know that this will be kind of impertinent of me to suddenly ask you a question but—" Ugetsu trailed off, his mirth returning.
"Yes?" She asked in confusion, not noticing that her very well done introduction gave a good impression to the man in front of her.
"—where are the documents you spoke of?" He finally asked, still controlling his increasing mirth.
Natsuki looked at him in horror realization. She sputtered; her confident atmosphere disappeared like it didn't exist in the first place. "Oh no! I forgot! Idiot Natsuki!" She exclaimed to herself as she smacked herself.
Asari chuckled. "It seems like it's your first day of being a member?" He guessed.
Natsuki nodded furiously, panicking. The brunette bowed, her hands momentarily touching his knees. "It's nice meeting you, Asari-san! But I need to go!" She exclaimed then turned around, walking quickly to go back to the DC room.
Asari chuckled. "Sawada Natsuki, huh."
What an interesting girl.
Pushing the two-floored trolley cart that was full of papers, Natsuki sighed. "I'm such an idiot. Why did I forget about the papers..." She said, continuing her walk towards the student council room. Looking at the map drawn by Alaude when she asked for directions, Natsuki looked to her left. "When I arrive at the end of the corridor, go left then left again when I reached another end." Following the map she was given, she noticed that the room to the student council was in another building. She gaped.
"Ahhhh!" She exclaimed in frustration, but still conscious of her volume. "How did Tetsu-nii went there and came back at the DC room before the song finished?!" Natsuki grumbled.
As she continued walking, she felt herself wobble and saw the world made a sudden turn. She fell on one of her knees. 'No...' She mentally cursed as she shook her head to remove the feeling of dizziness inside her head. As she realized her other persona waking up from her sleep, she felt her panic. "Tsuki!"
Tsuki softly laughed a bit. "Sorry about that, SkyZ. Seems that after so many years of not letting you use this body made this body weak."
"No, it's my fault, Tsuki! I'm sorry!" The voice of SkyZ rang in her head, slowly standing up as she used the handle of the trolley cart as support. Natsuki took a deep breath. "I'm alright, SkyZ. I just need to get used at this again." Natsuki slowly continued her steps, being conscious of her exhaustion.
"Come on, the faster we finish this, the sooner we could rest."
"Excuse me!" Natsuki exclaimed as she gently opened the door of the student council. She pushed the trolley cart and looked around the room, and was surprised to see it empty. "Huh..." She neared the president's table and slowly put the stacks that were swapped. Looking at the table, she realized that the documents she needed weren't there.
Looking at the huge room, she sighed tiredly. "As what Nii told me, the documents may be in the management table..." She said to herself as she roamed around the room. "Why the hell are there so many tables here..." SkyZ scowled.
Natsuki giggled. "It's the SC room, Skyz." The brunette mumbled, walking towards the table nearest from the president's table. "Of course there would be many tables here..." Knowing that there were no DC documents in that table either, she moved to another.
"Ahh! Where the hell are those documents?!"
"Woah calm down, SkyZ!"
As Natsuki talked with her alter ego, she didn't notice a crouched figure in front of her. When Natsuki's vision coincidentally glanced at the figure, the brunette froze in silent horror.
"Gah! What the hell?!"
Ignoring SkyZ sudden outburst, Natsuki slowly reached for the silent person's shoulder. "U-Umm, sorry to suddenly enter the room and disturb, but are you okay?"
Hearing someone enter the room, Giotto ignored the newcomer. He didn't feel like talking to someone right now; he's a bit too emotional to say something. There's a possibility that he would burst out crying when he heard a word of encouragement, so he remained sitting on the floor and hugged his self. Hearing the song from earlier was a huge encouragement, it's like a huge weight was removed from his shoulders. He didn't know why, but when he heard the song and the voice of the singer, all the hurt inside him just disappeared and he didn't know why.
He didn't know who this person was. He didn't even know the person who asked for this singer's help. Did they meet somewhere but he forgotten about it? Giotto slightly smacked his head. 'Damn this head for forgetting things...' He cursed mentally, thinking about the things he forgotten and not even one came back. A soft strangled sob escaped his lips, feeling a little bit overwhelmed.
Hearing the voice of the newcomer—but not really hearing the words as it were too soft for him to hear clearly—he froze. Preparing himself to be disturbed in his personal shell, he shakily took a deep breath. This is the first time he experienced this kind of wanting of being isolated in the world. He was always around people that he already forgotten the feeling of not meeting expectations of people. It all slowly build up, only realizing that it was already too much the moment it happens. He's tired.
"U-Umm, sorry to suddenly enter the room and disturb, but are you okay?" Jumping at the sudden touch to his shoulder, he bit his lips to prevent himself from letting out a sound. He looked up at the newcomer, still crouching. Giotto sniffed, slowly standing up as he patted his pants. He nodded. "Yeah, I'm okay. It's allergies." He reasoned out, lying so that the newcomer will cross out the idea that Giotto was crying.
The blond gently rubbed his eyes, walking pass the newcomer and went to his table. "So, is there something you need, newcomer-san? As you can see, the student council is a bit unavailable right now…" He told the brunette, sitting on his seat and started his unfinished paperwork.
"A-Ah. I'm here on the behalf of Alaude-san to say that the there was a mix up in the papers given to him." The brunette said.
Giotto hmm'ed a response as he signed a paper then put it on the finished stack. The silence continued on for a few moments until Giotto slammed his hands on the table and stood up in shock.
"W-What?!"
The newcomer jumped at his voice and looked at him in surprise. "Y-Yes?!"
"What did you say?!"
"A-Ah, Alaude-san told me to bring here the mixed up papers and get the correct papers meant for him." The brunette answered, this time with different words. The blond stared at him, like he was looking for something. When his eyes passed on a bright armband, his jaw dropped.
"W-What?! Since when did the Disciplinary Committee gained a new member?!" Giotto removed himself from his work and bolted out, running towards the door. "Damn that Alaude. I told him to report everything that happens in his committee!"
"U-Uhmm! Kaichou-san, where are the papers located?" The brunette hastily asked, when she saw him running.
"There were colored initials in each stack on the very top paper. For Alaude's committee, it's color purple with DC on it! Later, newcomer-san!" The blond answered then he was gone.
"H-Huh. O-Okay… Purple and DC." She looked around the room and finally found the correct ones. Putting the mixed up papers on table where the disciplinary committee papers where once were, she finally left the SC room with the papers on the trolley cart as she finished her task. She sighed. "Finally found it. Now, going back to Law-nii's room."
Heading back, she was halted by a certain silver haired male with a rough hold on her neck. Meeting the fuming eyes of the bomber, Natsuki shakily greeted. "H-Hello, G-Gokudera-san."
Gokudera growled. "Shut it, woman. I need to fucking talk to you." Slightly twitching at the profanity, Natsuki smiled with difficulty. "W-Well, we can't talk properly with me being held down right?"
"Bastard! Let me out, Natsuki! I'll punch this guy!" Natsukl laughed nervously in her mind. 'It's okay, SkyZ… Seems like Gokudera-san is in need of help.'
"But Natsuki! We need to get home quickly before—"
'It's fine…'
As the bomber slowly loosened his grip on her neck, Natsuki massaged the aching part. She softly cleared her throat. Glancing at the trolley cart, she sighed in relief. 'Thank gods that it wasn't moved roughly.' Now knowing that the papers weren't messed up, the brunette looked at the fuming silver head in slight apprehension. "What is it you need to talk about, Gokudera-san?"
Hearing his name, Gokudera growled. "Y-You!" He started. "Why the fuck are you minding people's businesses?!" He glared at the brunette, suddenly holding Natsuki's collar. "I didn't need your fucking help." He spat. Gokudera tch'ed and strongly threw back Natsuki, making the brunette stumble and fall on the floor roughly. "Ouch!" Natsuki gasped.
Gokudera cursed in his mind. This wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to thank her and apologize for the things he did wrong. Not this. Why is it so difficult to apologize? Was it because of his pride that he wasn't doing anything now? Tightly balling his fists, he looked down the floor in shame. Natsuki did something that most people didn't. She befriended and accepted a person like him.
Many people known that he was bastard son of a wealthy family and was thrown into this peaceful area because he was not needed. He might not show it, but he knew that people talk on his back. They're good on singing praises when he faces them, but the moment he turned his back, only curses and insults and mocks were what he heard. And as a way of coping in this hurtful situation, he explodes. He fight back to the people who insulted him, he need to show people that he's strong and won't be easily hurt. He was strong. Not.
Even if he forced him on believing that, the reality is here to remind him that he was wrong. He's weak. He easily hurt and he needs someone. He hurt when he hears mocks, he hurt when he realized that there's no one and no home to back to.
He's lonely.
Then Natsuki arrived in his life. He was only with her with a few days at most and she already broke all the walls he built to protect himself…
Suddenly waking up from his depressing thoughts, Gokudera remembered that he wasn't alone when he heard a voice singing.
"Ouch!" She gasped in pain as her body hit the floor.
"Are you alright, Natsuki! That bastard! Lemme out, Natsuki! I'll beat the shit out of this bastard! How dare he hurt you!"
Realizing the silence of the bomber, Natsuki looked at Gokudera. She sharply took an intake of breath when her head pounded unexpectedly. She held her aching head. "Natsuki!"
'SkyZ, he needs help.' Natsuki suddenly said in her thoughts.
"But Natsuki, you—" Since she knows that her other persona will be worried, she immediately said her reassurances.
'It'll be fine, SkyZ. You're with me.'
"Shit, Natsuki. You'll be the death of us two." Natsuki giggled as she slowly moved her body near the wall and carried herself up with the help of the wall as the support.
Her eyes tearing up at the pain she's feeling for the bomber, she silently opened her mouth and sang.
"'Cause everybody hurts
Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts
Don't throw your hand
Oh, no
Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone
No, no, no, you're not alone"
As she felt the surprised gaze from the bomber, she grinned widely. "It's okay, Gokudera-san. You'll always be my friend."
She looked at the crying bomber. Natsuki wobbled towards the bomber and held both of his shoulders in reassurance. "Let's be friends, Gokudera-san."
When her pounding came to an abrupt stop, her body suddenly lost its strength and collapsed. Almost not hearing the surprised yell of the bomber from her daze ("Hey, wake up!), she weakly giggled. "Sorry, Goukudera-san. Can you please go to the Disciplinary Committee? Please tell… nii… that his… apers… are… here…"
As she heard the voice of the bomber slowly went away, she lost consciousness.
A/N: Yes, Tsu is frail in my fanfics. XD Well, in this fic, it has reasons. First, Natsuki letting out her other persona is very tiring for her as it strains her brain and body. Imagine a body with two souls, and those souls use the body and its parts to the fullest. It's like using up all the energy in one go. Second, as what was said in the story, it's been awhile since SkyZ was let out. (The reason is secret, of course!)
Sorry for the late update even when I said I'll be updating in a few weeks from my other stories. (LOL) School gave us projects needed to be passed in a few days. Since I finished it all in one go. Now I'm free! Yay! I'm now planning in my other stories. So please look forward to it!
Oh! Belated Happy Birthday to Kyouya! (AHHHHHHHHHH! I MISSED IT!)
The song's title: Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.
