It had been a couple days since Red and Green's little argument/confession thing. They hadn't talked in a while and Red was starting to get worried. He knew Green loved him, but he never visit him anymore. Red had been sober for two days, which was an amazing achievement for him. He was really proud of himself and he wanted to celebrate with Green when he was sober for a week.
Red sat down on his couch with his head back, staring at the ceiling. He closed his eyes and began to think of that night when they had confessed their love to each other.
"You… you love me?" Red asked, his face heating up slightly.
"Yes, I do. That's why I took care of you. That's why I put up with your abuse. I didn't realize it until earlier this night that the reason why I put up with everything you put me through is because… I love you. I love you so much, Red," Green whispered, placing his forehead on Red's.
"I love you, too, Green. I love you so much," Red whispered back, kissing Green's lips gently. Green closed his eyes and hummed in the kiss, pulling Red closer to him.
Red's hand subconsciously moved up to his lips, his fingers lightly stroking them. He let out a shaky sigh, remembering the kiss. It was beautiful – something he had never really felt before. Of course, he would get kisses from his mother, but this was more than that. This had more passion and love. Red wanted to feel that again so badly, but he wanted to find out why Green was ignoring him.
Maybe I scared him away? Maybe he was trying to get me to sober up before he left.
Red frowned at that thought. Had he really scared Green away? He couldn't have. Green looked so sincere and loving that night. He couldn't detect any fear in Green – especially when he was beating Red. His face was almost healed up from the one-sided fight they had. Red chuckled at the memory of getting beaten by Green. He completely deserved it and he accepted his punishment like a good boy.
"Pika?"
Red jumped a bit at his beloved Pikachu's voice. He looked to his lap and saw the yellow pocket monster curl up on his lap and close his eyes. Red smiled and stroked his Pikachu's fur. He decided to stay on the couch instead of getting up to take a shower. Red didn't want to disturb his pokemon's rest.
Meanwhile, at Green's house…
Green paced around his room, frustrated. He was lucky that he didn't have to work today, but he was extremely pissed off at Daisy. She wouldn't let him leave the house on his day off. She found out that he had snuck out to see Red a couple days ago.
Green looked up to the sky and noticed that it was starting to get light outside. Just how long did he stay at Red's house?! It didn't matter right now. What mattered was trying to get into the house without waking up Daisy. She couldn't know that her brother disobeyed her and went to see his abuser anyways.
He looked in the window of his house to see that the lights were still off. He sighed in relief and opened the door slowly, trying not to make any noise. Once he was inside, he gently closed the door with one hand on the wall and one slowly pushing the door closed. As soon as the door was closed, light filled the room.
"Ah!" Green hissed, squinting his eyes from the sudden light. He turned around quickly to face an angry Daisy.
"Where the hell have you been?" she demanded.
Green stayed silent. He knew that she knew the answer. He didn't want to admit to her that he had snuck out to see Red. Even if he explained to her that he knocked some sense into Red to stay sober, she would never believe him. She would just think that he was covering up for the black-haired man.
"Well? I'm waiting for an answer," Daisy basically growled.
Green shivered. Daisy was really scary when she was angry. He sighed. It was time to tell her the truth.
"I went to Red's house…" Green winced, seeing Daisy's eyes glare in anger. "I convinced him to stop drinking."
"Bull shit," Daisy spat. Shit was serious and Green shivered in fear. It was never a good idea to get Daisy angry.
"Daisy, I'm telling the truth. He's going to stop drinking. I believe he's going to stop drinking," Green said, walking up to Daisy who was standing at the end of the staircase.
"Green, I'm just doing this to protect you! I don't know what has gotten into Red, but I know that once he does something he likes, he won't stop. And apparently, he likes to drink. A lot. I don't want you seeing him. I don't want to see you coming home with bruises anymore," Daisy began to sob at her last sentence.
Green's fear immediately drained from his body. The fear was replaced with sadness and guilt. He extended his arms, letting his sister hold onto him and cry on his shoulder. He rubbed her back gently, trying to comfort his sister the best he could.
"Daisy, I need to tell you something," Green said, pulling away from his sister just enough to face her.
"What?" she asked.
"I'm in love with Red."
Green sighed, thinking about when he told Daisy that he had been in love with his abuser. After that, she hadn't said another word to him and it scared him. What if that was a big mistake? What if she didn't care about him anymore?
Green stopped his pacing and kicked his bedroom wall in frustration. His foot got caught in the wall.
Shit!
He yanked his foot out of the wall, covering the floor in white dust. He would have to fix that later. Right now, he had to find a way to get out of the house. Daisy usually stayed at home and played and groomed her pokemon. Unfortunately, today was one of those days where she didn't leave the house to go grocery shopping.
Green wanted to see Red so badly. He didn't want Red to think that he had scared him off. That was far from the truth. Green was confident that Red wouldn't start drinking again, but he was scared that he might try drinking again if he didn't see him soon.
Green looked over to the window. They lived in a two story house, so Green couldn't just jump out of the window. He would risk a lot of things for Red, but he wasn't going to break his legs just to see the black-haired man.
Well, actually, it could be worth it.
Green immediately shook the thought from his head and sighed. Maybe Daisy would let him go to the grocery store alone? They did need some food. Green quickly got dressed, only being in his boxers from the previous night, and grabbed his wallet, his keys, and his cell phone. He opened his phone, hoping that he got a text from Red. Nothing.
Green sighed and put his cell phone and wallet into his pockets. He walked downstairs and saw Daisy sitting on the couch in the living room, drinking a cup of tea. Green smiled at her, remembering her odd obsession with drinking tea. It relaxed her, so she drank it a lot.
Green walked up to the front door.
"Where are you going?" he heard his sister say. Even though it was a scold, Green was happy that his sister was talking to him again.
"I'm going to the store. Do you need anything?" he asked, turning around to face her.
"Well, now that you mention it," Daisy said, standing up, "I do need some more tea. Can I come with you?"
Dammit.
"Sure," Green said, trying not to let his disappointment slip into his voice.
Daisy smiled and walked up to the door. Green opened it for her and let her go out first. Once they were both outside of the house, Green locked it and called his Pidgeot out so they could fly to Celadon City to go to the department store there.
While at the department store, Green saw Red looking at some candy on a shelf. A smile found a way to Green's face as he watched the black-haired man pick up a box of candy and put it into his basket. He noticed that Red didn't have any alcohol in his basket – just normal grocery stuff. He felt so proud of Red.
"Green," he heard a soft voice call.
Green turned around to face his sister. "You better not go over there," she warned quietly.
"Daisy, look at his basket. Do you see any alcohol in there?" Green whispered back, pointing to Red's basket.
He looked back at Daisy to see her reaction. Daisy sighed, seeing that there was no alcohol in his basket.
"Be careful," she warned. Taking that as a chance to talk to Red, Green made his way over to his childhood friend. His heart pounded in his chest. I'm so proud of him.
Red picked up a pack of candy, noticing that it was Green's favourite candy. He smiled before putting it into the cart. Maybe he could give this to Green as an apology for scaring him off. Suddenly, Red felt a finger poke his shoulder. He turned around to see Green.
Red smiled at his childhood friend and hugged him tightly. Green chuckled and hugged Red back. Red smiled. So I didn't scare him off…
Red let out a silent whimper as Green pulled away slightly.
"I'm sorry I didn't come talk to you sooner. Daisy was worried about my wellbeing and she didn't want me seeing you…" Green sighed.
"It's okay," Red whispered, giving Green a small smile. Green smiled back.
"I'm proud of you for not getting any alcohol," Green said, referring to the basket full of regular groceries. Red looked at the basket and then looked back at Green with a smile on his face.
He's proud of me…
