And now we're back again! Sorry it's been a while, but someone brought up something interesting that I thought I should try to answer. I was planning on it anyway. I'm also going to have Misa ask Light what happened during the time when Tsuki was pretending to be him, so there will be lots of flash backs. As well as, I'll explain why the most powerful Death Note isn't used against Kira. So Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy, and I'll get right to it. I'm doing any shout outs this time, but thanks to all of you who have made this possible! I love you all for your support!

You may notice however that the story's picture has changed. I've finally finished the cover art (something I drew though it's not that good). From left to right, top to bottom it goes Light, Tsuki, Misa, L. It also has their letters (S, K, M, L: Savara, Kira, Messira, L) in order and with their god titles (Life, Death, Loyalty, Truth). You can't see those because of the weird crop of this website, but they're there. I hope you guys like it, because it took a while to get right (even tough I used other pictures as references). XD

UPDATE: I changed the picture, so I didn't draw that one. I need to get a better photo of that picture later where there's not a huge shadow on it. This was done as of 4/27/15.

Also, I don't think that Light and Tsuki's names and faces being so similar would make a difference, especially since Tsuki wrote Light's name in the Death Note. Read on and find out why. ;) And the chains...well I did consider. Darn the fan girl in me! XD

I hope you enjoy the picture that now goes with the story and will continue to enjoy the content! This whole chapter is directed to answering questions of Mirei – Chan's. I'm not offended, they're good questions I was planning on answering anyway. XD I try not to leave any plot holes at all. Also, I like to make my stories serious, but I like to add in some comedy too. You can't have a good plot (at least in my opinion) without something to laugh at too. Too much serious makes things too boring, and even Death Note had its funny moments.

Chapter Seven: Unspoken Times

Misa was lounging in a chair, kicking her legs slightly in the air as she looked at Light. He wasn't really in the mood to be bothered now, watching the rain falling against the window. The Rain always seemed so sad to him now. Misa seemed bored, and Light seemed preoccupied. She had just thought of something, and she wanted an answer to it. She leaned forward, directing the question towards the Shinigami King even tough she couldn't see him. She knew he was there.

"Why can't I just use the Death Note you gave me against Kira?" she asked.

Light didn't move at all, but after a slight pause, his shadow shifted to take the form of the much taller and larger Shinigami King. She saw the shadow's head turn to regard her a moment, and she could feel its eyes even though he appeared to be nothing more than a silhouette. But she didn't move. She thought it a perfectly reasonable question, and she wanted an answer.

"I mean," she continued, kicking her legs more. "Doesn't that seem a lot easier than sitting here and waiting to plan out our next move? Why can't we just kill him and be done with it?"

"If it were that simple human," the king at last replied. "I would have told you to do that when I gave it to you."

There was silence again, and Misa looked intently at the shadow. It didn't seem that it was willing to explain, and Light was out of it. She huffed a little impatiently and then leaned forward again, furrowing her eye brows a little.

"And why can't it be that easy?" She asked.

"Because it cannot," the king replied, sounding slightly annoyed. "That Death Note is an extension of me, and just as Shinigami cannot interfere with the world, that Death Note cannot interfere with the world. It can kill his followers yes, because they are just that: followers. They cannot change the balance as he can with his powers and the Death Note. He on the other hand, can. It is because he has so upset the balance that he cannot be killed with this Death Note. This Death Note is too powerful, because in a sense it is me. That is what makes it the Death Note of the Shinigami King. It is me. And as I told Raito, I cannot kill Kira. The living must undo what the living have done, and the humans must undo what the humans have done. You are just going to have to plan another way to bring him to justice. This Death Note cannot kill Kira because it would only begin the cycle again with another. That is why it is not easy. And that is why you must wait."

"Then how can we defeat Kira?" Misa cried.

"You must plan," he said as he again disappeared."You must outsmart him. And you must bring him to justice. But this Death Note will be of no help for you there. Besides, if it were that easy this whole situation would have been solved long ago."

"That doesn't make much sense," Misa complained. But there was no response. The Shinigami King was gone again.

Misa groaned a little and flopped backwards onto the chair, hanging off the sides of it. She sat that way for a long time, listening to the rain. But then she realized something: Light still hadn't said a word. He'd been silent since the moment the rain had started. That had been about three hours ago. She suddenly felt very worried for him, and sat up. She looked at him, but he was still just staring with that blank look in his eyes out the widow, watching the ran as it traced patters against the glass. She moved the chair over next to his and laid a hand on his shoulder.

"Light?" she asked gently.

He jumped as if she had snuck up behind him in a haunted house. He turned to look at her, blinking as if he hadn't realized that she was there. She watched him a moment, but there seemed to be little to no change at all in his face. That worried her greatly.

"Light, what's wrong?" she asked. He blinked a little more in surprise.

"Oh," he said finally. "I-It's nothing. I just...don't like the rain much anymore."

Misa sat there a moment, watching him. She tried thinking about something that could have made him so distant. It couldn't just be the rain could it? There had to be something else. She thought about yesterday, and the man she had killed with the Death Note. Maybe that was it?

"If this is about yesterday," she said. "Then I'm sorry. I didn't know what else to do. I just wanted to help. If it makes you-"

"No that's not it," he told her. "It's not like it bothers me. Those people believe that by killing those that appose them, then they'll create a new world order. So they shouldn't be doing that unless they're willing to die themselves. That's what I think. I may call myself the god of life, but I think we both know that life is unforgiving and harsh. Just because I kill someone doesn't mean I'm not the god of life. My job is only to restore the balance that Kira has disrupted. To preserve life, I understand that I must take away life. It makes me and Kira eerily similar but still... Life and death are one. Life and death balance each other. That's the only reason I call myself the god of life. Because you can't have a Kira without a Savara. Besides, I've seen the effects of the death note too long for it to bother me anyway."

"Well I'm ready to die if I have to for you," Misa promised whole heartily. "I know we can't kill Kira with this Death Note I have, but if we can kill his followers it'll be a start. Then we can bring Kira to justice, even if we have to use the powers of the Shinigami too. Some people wouldn't like it, but we have to do this. So don't worry. I know you can come up with something and-"

"That's not it either," Light replied. "I just...don't like the rain."

Now Misa was truly puzzled. She'd never seen Light acting so unnerved. Even though she'd only truly met him here recently, she knew that he usually wasn't so distant or nervous. She watched him a moment, her hand on his shoulder wavering. She thought about Tsuki, and how he had always pushed her away when she had tried to offer him help. But Light looked like he really needed it now. She pulled him into a hug.

"Do you need to talk about it?" she asked simply.

For a moment there was nothing but silence, and then at last Light nodded. She just waited patiently, holding him gently, as if he was fragile. He probably was. He seemed really shaken up about something. For a while, there was more silence, and then suddenly Light moved. It wasn't to pull away. Instead he grabbed a hold of Misa and buried his head into her shoulder. She was really confused now. She'd seen Tsuki worked up before, but he had never done anything like this. She said nothing, and just let him sit there a while.

"Sorry," he said quietly at last. "I just don't like to remember. It wasn't easy on me, and some very bad memories are associated with the rain."

"It's alright," she said gently. "Just relax. You're safe here, at least for now."

Light again nodded. The Shinigami King was very quiet, and said nothing to interrupt. He didn't understand humans that much, but Light was obviously distressed right now, so he didn't want to push him away now. The human had interested him, and he had to admit that he was fond of the young man. His life could have been filled with so much more if Ryuk hadn't insisted on playing his cruel game. Misa too didn't want to push him away. If she was truly willing to show her loyalty, then she would show it now.

Light at last seemed inclined to speak. He sighed. It was a sad and broken sound. Misa couldn't blame him. He'd been through so much! He closed his eyes a moment, wondering what had gotten into him but unable to stop himself.

"Well," he said quietly. "I guess I'd better start at the beginning..."

He slammed the door shut to his room. Not that it mattered. No one was home now but him. He shuddered and stared at the book. It was black, with white lettering that said very clearly on the cover "Death Note". He wasn't even sure what had possessed him to pick it up. He'd read the rules after all. "The person who's name is written in this note will die"? If it was a prank, then it was a very elaborate prank. But if it wasn't...

He shook his head. No that couldn't be it! It had to be a prank. He opened it and pulled out a pen, sitting down at his desk. But the pen froze before it ever touched the paper. What was he thinking? Something like this was just way too dark and creepy, and he had to study for school anyway. He couldn't just kill someone! He dropped the pen with a sigh and leaned farther back in the chair. He must be out of his mind.

He heard the front door open downstairs and then close again. He paused. That was odd. His mom and sister were out shopping, and they weren't planning being back until after dinner some time. Besides he only heard one person's foot steps in the hall as they paused at the stairs. His dad? No that wasn't right either. He wouldn't be home until late tonight. So who was it? He felt nervous suddenly. A burglar? For a moment the notebook on his desk was left open and completely forgotten. He walked as quietly as he could to the door of his room.

"Hello?" he heard a voice from downstairs. "Light Yagami?"

Light froze. How on earth could this person know his name? His voice sounded eerily familiar. For a moment Light didn't dare to move. How could he after all? There was an irritated sigh from downstairs, slightly muffled by the door.

"Oh come on," he heard. "I saw you run into the house. You were freaking out about something. You should have locked the door."

Light at last, against his better judgment opened the door to his bed room and looked down the stairs. He and the strange both froze. It was like they were looking in the mirror. The two young men were almost exactly identical looking. There were differences in the hair, because the stranger's hair was longer and hung down to his shoulders, and the stranger had darker brown eyes than him. Other than that, they looked the same. It was a little eerie. The stranger smiled then though.

"Whoa," he said. "I'd heard that there was someone that looked like me, and that you're supposed to be one of Japan's best and brightest. But I didn't think we'd look that alike! Our names are even spelled the same! Well, except your name is pronounced Raito instead of Tsuki like mine."

Light just blinked a moment. He wasn't sure what to make of this. There was someone who looked exactly like him? He knew about him? Just how much did he know? And why on earth was he here now? Light pulled out his Cell Phone quickly and flipped it open.

"I don't know why you're here," Light said. "But I want you to get out now. My dad's a police officer, and they know me around here. If I call them now and tell them that someone broke into my house then they'd be here in a few minutes."

"You should have locked the door," Tsuki teased. "Besides if it came to that," he added sarcastically, though he wasn't sure if it only sounded sarcastic. "I'd just hold you hostage or something and escape." Light stared at the young man a moment. He was ready to hit the speed dial button on his phone and call his dad's cell phone. This young man's lack of morals really annoyed and disturbed him. Didn't he have any inclination of right or wrong? Or was it lacking in some way? Tsuki however saw that he was about to hit the button. His eyes flashed dangerously.

Light yelped as the young man crossed the space between them and grabbed his wrist, ripping the phone out of his hand and slamming Light into the wall with his shoulder. Light could only stare a minute at the young man, pinned against the wall. He was confused, but he was trying to force himself to stay calm as well. He wasn't sure what this young man wanted. Tsuki looked at Light's phone a moment, and then dropped it carelessly down the stairs.

"H-Hey," Light said. "What was that?"

"Oh sorry," Tsuki said with a smile. "Your dad may be a police officer, but mine owned a dojo and taught me everything he knew. I know a bunch of different fighting styles. Listen, I just wanted to come talk to you. I'm not going to hurt you, so just calm down alright?" Light got a little angry then.

"Says the guy who just nearly broke my wrist and my ribs pinning me to a wall," he cried.

"Oh please," he said. "That amount of pressure wouldn't break your wrist or your ribs. I'll be gone soon. So just chill and let's talk okay? I've learned that most people need a little persuading before they're ready to talk. That's all it was."

Light's eyes narrowed a little. Persuading? Just where had this kid grown up? They may have looked alike, but Light could already tell that they were polar opposites. Light was kind, hardworking, and obviously smart. Not that this kid wasn't either. If he had found on so much about him already, and probably knew more, then he was probably a lot smarter than he was showing now. He'd also guessed exactly what he was going to do with that Cell Phone before he'd had the chance to do and made sure that he couldn't do also obviously had a lot more of a violent back ground than Light. He wasn't scared about getting what he wanted, when he wanted. It didn't matter to him how. He didn't have his Cell Phone now, and it he was thinking about this rationally, then unfortunately it was better to do as this Tsuki person asked for now. Obviously he was out matched in strength so he didn't really have a choice.

"Fine," Light said. "My room's up there."

He nodded towards his room with his chin. Tsuki watched him a moment. His face was largely unreadable, but he could tell that he was regarding him. Light could tell that his assumptions earlier had been largely correct, if not nearly perfect. But Tsuki at last decided that he wasn't pulling any tricks. He released Light and stepped back so Light couldn't go for his Cell Phone if he had tried. Light turned and led him up into his room, sitting down on his bed and looking at Tsuki as he closed the door. He looked at Light.

"You're pretty sharp," he said. "I can tell that. Well I suppose you have to be. You've scored number 1 on the nation wide tests for ages. I usually score about number 100 or so. I'm not nearly as good as you. But then again, I don't ever really try. School's always been so boring for me."

"Why are you here?" Light asked.

"I told you," Tsuki said with a sigh. "I wanted to come meet the guy who looks exactly like me. Is that really so strange?"

Yes, Light wanted to say. I mean you did just break into my house after all.

Light said nothing though as he looked at Tsuki. He didn't trust him one bit. Tsuki seemed a little bored by his lack of response. He looked around the room suddenly with interest, and his eyes landed on the desk. Light looked that way and froze. The Death Note! He leaped up suddenly to grab it. He couldn't let anyone else see it. That thing could be dangerous! It should have been handed over to the police. Tsuki saw Light's reaction and grabbed him, throwing him on his back. Again Light yelped, completely surprised by his reflexes. Tsuki picked up the Death Note.

He stared at the rules a moment, blinking a little bit. His eye brows knit together a little. He glanced at Light, who was no carefully standing, though his body was sore by now.

"Anyone whose name is written in this book shall die?" he asked, looking at Light. "This can't be real. It's a pretty elaborate prank if you ask me. Then again, maybe we should test it out."

"No wait," Light cried. "it could be dangerous!"

"It'll be fine," Tsuki laughed. "There's no way this can be real."

They both looked towards the television as the program was interrupted by an urgent message. A criminal had taken hostages inside of a Daycare. He wasn't going to come out any time soon either. He had both kids and adults in there. His name and face was flashed on the screen. Didn't the Death Note say it needed a name and a face? Tsuki glanced at Light.

"There," he said. "We'll kill him. He's a menace to society that would have been put down anyway. So I'll just write down his name and we'll see if this is fake."

Something inside of Light wanted to make him stop, to tell him that he couldn't do this. But he was curious as well. He wanted to see what the Death Note would do. Was it real? Could it be real? Light just watched as Tsuki took the pen and scribbled down the name. They both looked up at the clock on the wall, watching the seconds tick by. The news continued, and forty seconds passed.

"See," Tsuki said. "I told you it couldn't-"

They both froze as it cut back tot he scene. Apparently the suspect had fallen dead inside, collapsing. Light felt his blood freeze in horror. A heart attack? Wasn't that how the Death Note killed people? It was conincidence wasn't it? This couldn't be happening! Tsuki also just stared at the screen.

"A Heart Attack?" he gasped. "No way. It's just a coincidence!"

"We have to get rid of that thing," Light gasped.

"No wait," Tsuki said, as if struck by inspiration. "We need to test this one more time. We need results right away. We'll test it by writing out a situation. Come on, we're going now."

Tsuki grabbed the Death Note and the pen, shoving it in his bag and running down the stairs. Light knew that somehow this was going to go very badly. He couldn't just let Tsuki get away with that thing. He had to get it away from him. So he ran out the door after him, quickly locking the door behind him as he did so.

He had Cram School tonight, but he couldn't just let Tsuki get away. This was way more important than some stupid entrance exams. He had to stop Tsuki. He had a hard time believing that this whole thing wasn't just some huge coincidence, but on the off chance that this was real, he couldn't just let Tsuki run around with something like this. He had to get it away from him.

At last, Tsuki paused and slipped into some store, going to the book section by the window. He pulled out a book. Outside a woman was being stripped down by some rogues who were wanting to rape her no doubt. Their ring leader stupidly told the woman his name. Light watched the scene, wanting to help but unsure how to. He would just get beat up, and no one would worry about helping him.

He glanced down beside him at the note book. Tsuki had written his name and that the woman would escape and run across the street. He would follow and a truck would hit him on the side, killing him instantly. Light and Tsuki both looked up as the exact same scene, word for word, happened before their very eyes.

They both stood there, horrified, unable to look away. They both knew then that the Death Note was very real. Light knew that he had to get rid of it then. He had to! That thing was evil! He grabbed it while Tsuki was still confused and horrified, and then turned and ran down the street again. He had to get away. He had to destroy this thing!

He winced a little as rain hit him in the face. It was coming down pretty hard now, and it was cold, but he had to keep running. He wasn't even sure where he was going, but he hoped that he could get rid of this thing. Throw it away, burn it, shred it, something! He couldn't let someone like Tsuki get ahold of this thing!

Someone was running along behind him. He could hear them. He didn't have to glance back to guess who. He clutched at the book tighter and ran on. Maybe he could trick him or-

Light didn't finish the thought because at that point Tsuki had caught up with him and kicked at the back of his knees. Light's legs buckled and his knees collided painfully with the ground. The Death Note went flying out of his hands and landed on the ground. Light gripped at his pained legs and looked up with wide eyes. Tsuki had the Death Note in one hand, and a pen poised above the paper with the other. All he had to do was lower the pen and...

"W-Wait," Light cried. "Stop! If you're going to kill me then at least hear me out!" Tsuki paused a moment, watching him. "That thing is evil! It kills people! We have to get rid of it! Why do you even want something like that?"

"Why?" Tsuki asked. "Because this world is filled with filth! Criminals and evil! They must be eliminated! I finally have the power to judge them like no one else will!"

"That would make you little more than a murderer," Light cried.

"No," Tsuki said. "because I will be the god of this new world, filled with honest, kind, and hard working people. All my life I've been haunted by people who were the opposite. How would you know what it's like?"

Tsuki glared at Light a minute. Light was expecting to die. Tsuki was just that kind of person. He'd follow his justice blindly, and it didn't matter who got in his way, they would die as well. But then some inspiration seemed to light up his eyes, and he smiled down at Light, lowering his hands slightly.

"However," he said. "you're pretty smart Light. If you went missing people would start to wonder, and I don't need people alienated from their new god. No I'm not going to kill you, I'll think of a better use for you. You'll serve your new god in a way that'll help me much more, I'm sure of it."

"W-What are you going to do?" Light asked nervously.

"Well," Tsuki replied. "No one would care if Tsuki Yagami, average high school student, went missing. However if Light Yagami went missing, heads would begin to turn. We're identical in every way. I'll take your place for now. Everything will be going according to plan."

Tsuki put away the Death Note, then looked at Light closely. He smiled again, and hit him in the jaw. Light nearly instantly blacked out.

Misa was frozen a moment, listening in horror and anger. She had known that Tsuki had done something to get Light out of the way, but somehow even something as simple as this angered her. She swore once again to destroy Kira, and to avenge the pain that Light was now feeling.

"When I woke up," Light continued quietly. "I was locked in some room, in a warehouse I think. I was never really sure. I wasn't tied up, but I couldn't leave. I tried so many times to get out, but Tsuki was always a step ahead of me, and nothing I tried would work. I was forced to sit there and listen time and time again about news from outside about what Kira was doing, and wondering when it would be my time to die. Then he finally wrote my name in his Death Note, and very specific instructions. You have no idea what it's like...imagine you're unconcious, but you know everything that's going on around you. Your body moves on its own, and you say words you would never say. Like some horrible puppet! I hated it so much! I had managed to trick Ryuk into writing my name into the Death Note so they canceled each other out, but I had been shot so many times...by the time the spell had worn off the Shinigami King had appeared."

"I'm sorry Light," Misa said quietly.

"He didn't hurt me other than that first day," Light sighed. "But he didn't have to. The psychological torture was more than enough. That's why I can't stand the rain. I'm sorry this probably doesn't make any sense."

"It makes perfect sense," Misa purred quietly to him. She laid her hand on his head, like an older sister comforting her little brother. "And I understand now. But isn't it better to finally tell someone? I know now, and you don't have to bear this alone. It wasn't your fault. You didn't really have a chance to fight him, and that happens sometimes. But we can fight him now. I promise you that I'll keep you safe as best as I can, and also that I will do everything I can to make sure that Kira pays for what he's done for you."

Light paused a moment, then raised his head and looked up at her, she smiled cheerfully at him, and he found it the most radiant he'd ever seen. To be able to smile when everything seemed so hopeless! He felt his resolve harden again, and his eyes did as well with determination. He nodded, then managed a small smile back.

"Thanks Misa," he said. "I won't forget that again. And your right. I do feel much better. Thanks for being here for me."

"Of course," she said. "I may have once been the second Kira, but I'm tired of playing his game. I did love you, because Tsuki had obviously researched you well. I know you might never love me back, but I don't mind. I was once with Kira, but I know I could never betray you, or the ideals you stand for. I fell in love with a man I never met...but when Kira betrayed my loyalty I knew I couldn't follow him anymore. I know you're different though."

"And that's what makes you the goddess of loyalty," Light said with a small smile.

She blinked a little in surprise, but then she smiled again. She could do anything for him, and she was glad to see him back to normal again. He was strong again, and full of life. They were just glad to be in the company of such great friends. They knew they could trust each other, though they shouldn't have been able to. But all was fair in love and war she supposed.

"Get some sleep," the voice of the Shinigami King said. "Mortals need their sleep. In the morning though we will need to discuss what we'll do about L."

They both nodded, and soon they had gone off to shower for once, change while their clothes were landered, and then both crawled into bed. They were both soon asleep, more relaxed than they had been in a long time, under the ever watchful eyes of the Shinigami King.

So what did you think? I answered all the questions I could possibly think to. I was going to anyway, but this gave me an excuse to get as many done as possible. Obviously Light and Tsuki having the same names and the same face (basically) wasn't a problem because both Tsuki and Ryuk wrote Light's name in their Death Notes. I hoped that whole thing made sense, and I tried to make it fit as much with the cannon as possible.

Also, I wanted to give Tsuki yet more reasons why he's different than Light. And I decided to make him a really good martial artist because there's going to be a chapter involving him and L later that will be interesting. ;)

If you have any more questions you think need answered, you can put them in a review below so I can get to answering them through out the story. Also, tell me if that all made sense. XD I hope it did.
