Unicorn Chronicles: Chosen Innocents

Buttercup Utonium is not what most people would call innocent. She likes to fight, play sports and hates anything girly with a passion. But one day when she takes a walk to clear her head, something strange happens. Suddenly she finds herself being chased into a forest she never knew existed. Scared and frustrated she keeps moving. Unknown to her she just unlocked an adventure and huge secret she has no choice to keep; dragging her sisters with her.

Chapter Seven: Night sky

Buttercup's POV

My eyes flutter open as I groan in pain. The smell of spices Bubbles would cook with assaulted my nose. Wait… where's Pluto? No… what if they hurt him!? "Pluto, Pluto!" I shout as I whip my head around. "Relax Cheza… I am here, I will not leave you" Suddenly I am once again wrapped around furs and scales. Relief washes over me and my eyes begin to water. Seems like I've been crying a lot lately. "A-are you ok?" I ask, once again surprised how soft my voice is.

"We are at the worms' hideout, and I am fine." He states purring against my small body. "Wha- What happened to them…? A-are they d-" I can't bring myself to speak any longer. The fact that tons of men, might be dead because of me. "They're fine Cheza… I would not cause you such sorrow to see many humans die… However if they even look at you, they will die. Is that understood?" Pluto cuts off my train of thought as he gives his harsh explanation. I turn my body as best as I can and look him in the eyes.

"Pluto you can't just-" I start but he cuts me off again. "You are a goddess Cheza… The goddess of the Earth, Sun, Moon and stars. If you connect with the ancients there will be no limit to what you control… You could weld chaos in your very hands. More importantly you are my mate… If I a mere beast can control my urges as your mate, then these worms can control theirs as well." My eyes are widen as he finishes his explanation. Me? A-a goddess? "I- I can't be a-a goddess "I-I" My tongue is dry. Too much! This is too much to handle. Before I know it I am gripping Pluto's fur.

"Relax my flower… I will let no harm come to you. There is no need to fear, no need to weep." Pluto nuzzles me and purrs as small tears flow down my cheeks. Blossom, Bubbles, Did they know? Did John know- He had to know… That bastard. "Hush my flower the worms are coming." I hear the clanging sounds of metal hitting the ground, I grip Pluto's fur.

"My lady, we have rations for you and meat for your beast. We apologize for its quality but unfortunately it is the best we could come up with on such… unforeseen circumstances." As I turn to look at him, I feel Pluto shift with me. Instantly the man looks toward the ground as he brings the food forward. He's shaking, like-like he is terrified of even gazing in my direction.

Pluto's electric green eyes narrow and he growls. "E-enjoy m-m-my lady." He stutters placing the food in front of us. Then he dashes away, probably to his tent while we are left outside… Pluto uncoils around me and sniffs the bowl of food I was given, then he sniffs the large packs of meat he was given. A snare comes on his lips. "Poison…" He growls. "You may eat yours Cheza… these worms won't risk my wrath if you are dead. However…" His snake tail suddenly attacks the meat with a vengeance, gulping down every single drop of blood in the meat until it turns a nasty white. "It will take more than weak poison to kill me… I may not be as strong as you are, as strong as you should be. But I am as ancient and as powerful as the titans. If they want me dead they will have to kill you and I will not let that happen." His snake tail hisses angrily as he snares lowly.

My eyes widen and before I know it I am glaring at the ground. I won't let them hurt Pluto. He's my friend, my mate apparently (whatever that means) and our promise… He-he promised to protect me, and I'd swear to do the same. I ball my hands into a fist. If they want Pluto dead they'll have to get to me first, and I will not give anyone the chance to do that. "I- I won't let them hurt you Pluto. You swore to protect me, and I swear I will protect you. I-I won't let them hurt you anymore." I state A surge of anger hits me and I ball my fist tighter I can feel my nails digging into my palms breaking skin. "I swear it."

Pluto's POV

A sense of warmth spread throughout my body as I watched my mate, my love swear her loyalty to me. I watched as a silver glow highlighted her body as her hair gently shone in her anger. Her eyes harden as I watch nova's explode as she looked to the ground. Yes… Cheza was there but so was Buttercup, and I would have them both. No-one or thing would take them- her from me. She was mine and mine alone.

"Cheza…" I purr nuzzling her. My warm fur brushes against her still nude body. I wouldn't allow those worms to touch her and it took forever for me to just let them give her food. "Eat Cheza you will need your strength." My tail pushes the food to her as I coil around her again. She giggles a bit as my snake tail shows her a bit of affection, by tickling her chin. Slowly she picks up the bowl and begins to eat. It is silent for quite some time and I silently listen to her put the bowl on the ground.

"Pluto?" She asks her voice is softly. "Yes?" I answer. "Why do you call me Cheza? I mean-" She fumbles over her words as she buries her head into my side in embarrassment. I chuckle. "I call you Cheza because it means Flower… Lunar Flower to be exact. A flower that leads to paradise. A place where beautiful days and joyous nights are, where the air smells of cool wind and the water taste sweet." I close my eyes thinking of the beautiful place I will take Cheza to, a place Cheza will lead me. "A place where there is treasure just underneath the surface, where there is peace and yet war… A place that is our ancient home… Our home." I open my eyes and stare into her cosmic ones.

"That is why I call you Cheza. It means many wonderful things… More importantly it is home…" She smiles and pets my mane. "I didn't know I meant that much to you Pluto… If- if I mean that much to you, then you can call me Cheza whenever you like. I'll even answer to it." She kisses my nose and curls up next to my body. I cover her with my wings to keep her warm. She falls asleep quickly as my tail hisses a soothing lullaby. I purr once again as I keep watch over her. She is falling for me, I know it… I feel it. I look at the beautiful night sky above us, thinking about the paradise we will one day reach…

Thinking… Asking myself… Does she know that she is my night sky?
