Kawino woke naked and confused in his bed. He noticed Cady wasn't there anymore and got scared. 'Did I do something wrong? Is she mad at me?' he thought. 'I must have. I ruined everything.'

Just as he was starting to freak out Cady reentered the room with breakfast for each of them. "You're not mad?" he asked.

"No, far from it, why would I be mad?"

"It's just… I woke up and you were gone. I thought I did something wrong."

"No, believe me, you didn't."

"Well, okay."

"So breakfast?" She offered with a smile.

"Yes, thanks, Cady." She handed him a plate of eggs and bacon. "Thank you, Cady," he said again, taking it.

"No need to thank me."

"Sorry...?"

"No need to apologize either it's a saying."

"Confusing."

"Yeah, sort of."

"What does it mean then?"

"It means it was no trouble."

"Oh, okay."

"Understand?"

"I think so."

"Good that's progress."

"Yeah, it is."

"We need to take care of a few things today."

"Right, yeah, we do."

"I mean your grandparents." Cady said.

"I know," Kawino sighed.

"Something has to be done."

"Cady, I just said I know."

"I heard I just need to be sure is all."

"How do we go about this though?"

"I am not sure there are two real options."

"Report them or kill them," he said knowingly.

"Exactly."

"So, which should we do?"

"We need to get everyone's opinion."

"Right."

"You finish eating and we'll go see them." He nodded eating what she brought. They ate in a peaceful silence.

Soon Kawino was done and got dressed. "Oh yeah and a few more things." Cady said.

"What are they?"

"Well first of all our siblings and your mother know what we did last night." She said.

"Is that bad?"

"No, just thought you should know."

"Okay?"

"Yeah, generally it is supposed to be private though," she added.

"Oh okay got it, but what was the other thing?" he asked.

She smiled and kissed him. "Just that," she said, once it broke. She took his hand and they headed out.

They headed to find the others. They were all in the living room. So they joined them. "We all need to talk." Kawino said.

"Right, yes we do," Enobaria agreed.

"We need to figure out what to do now."

"Those monsters are a problem," Kawino said bluntly.

"So, then we need to remove all three of them."

"Yes, we need to figure out what way though."

"I think they should die." Clove said.

"They'd die which ever we do though."

"I think you and mom deserve to deal the killing blow."

"I think so, too," Cady said.

"I agree." Cato admitted.

Kawino and Mantear couldn't deny that they want to be the one to do it.

"Alright so then we kill them?"

"Sounds like the plan."

"The questions are where and how?"

"I don't know where they live now," Mantear admitted.

"We can find out." Cady said.

"Our dad has records on where everyone in 2 lives," she explained.

"We just put names to addresses," Cato said.

"Which means we'll need your last name before you got married."

Mantear took a deep breath and answered, though not liking the ties to either of her names, "Diabolous."

"Okay, that's simple enough Cady and I will go and find the address," Cato said.

"How are we going to avoid being caught by the Peacekeepers though?"

"That's tricky we'll have to learn the rounds."

"How do we do that?"

"We keep watch."

"Okay."

"We'll go in shifts and teams of two." Enobaria said.

"So, who's first?"

"I'd say me and Mantear."

"So then Cady and I and Cato and Clove could be the other groups?"

"Yeah, you could be."

"Anything else we need to figure out?"

"Yes, how long shifts last."

"Right, about how long were you thinking?"

"Maybe four hours each," she said.

"Sounds awfully long," Cady said.

"You think it's too long?"

"A bit."

"Well, how long would you say then."

"More like two hours."

"Okay two hours each then."

"Sound good to everyone?" Everyone nodded. "Then we have a plan."

"At least a start."

"So do shifts start immediately?"

"After you all shower and we have an address." Everyone agreed. "Good, so, break, I suppose." She said. Everyone went their own ways.

Kawino and Mantear stood not knowing what to do now. He looked over at her thinking over everything from the previous day. "So, mom?" He said awkwardly.

"Kawino."

"I wanted to say I'm sorry for what I said the other day."

"I don't blame you for it."

"I still feel I spoke out of term."

"I forgive you. I still have so much more to be sorry for."

"You didn't want to do it though, not really."

"I still did."

"You showed you cared though."

"That can't possibly make up for it."

"It goes a good way though."

"Sometimes I'm more concerned on if I'll ever forgive myself than if you will."

"You can, you will, and you should," he said.

"But I let myself become that."

"You made a mistake," Kawino said.

"Nothing can excuse that."

He hugged her suddenly. "I forgave you," he said.

"Y-you do?"

"I do, I really do." She returned the tug having certainly not expected that. "So please will you forgive you?" Kawino asked.

"I-I'll try to."

"Thank you," he said, squeezing her a little tighter.

"You're welcome, Kawino. Thank you for forgiving me."

"How could I not?" he said, smiling a little.

"After everything I've done."

"You went through the same."

"So, I know it shouldn't be easy for you to."

"It wasn't but I do forgive you."

"Just seems impossible."

"Nothing is impossible really."

"That is."

"Clearly it's not."

"Well, true, I guess not."

He smiled slightly. "So, what now?" he asked.

"I'm not sure really." She said.

Meanwhile, Cady and Cato made their way back to their own house to get the address. "Okay, showers first since we stayed there last night." Cady said.

"Right."

"Then address unless you want to look into it while I shower."

"I'll go ahead and take a look while you shower."

"Thanks." She said and headed off.

Cato headed to one of his father's file rooms. He looks through for the right one.

He found it after about ten minutes of searching. He took a look into it.

He found an address as well as pictures of the two. The pictures had confirmed it was the right ones. "Perfect." He thought.

Just then, Cady came in showered and dressed. "You got it?"

"Yeah, I got it." Cato said smiling.

"Excellent, then go get your own shower, then we can head back over."

"Yeah, okay, here." He said handing her the file.

She smiled taking a look. "Perfect." She said. She could look at the computer file on them see if there is anything more she can find. Like how they have all those bobby traps. Soon enough Cato was done and dressed and they headed back to Enobaria's house.

They went in having no need to knock. "We got it." Cady called out.

Everyone arrived pretty promptly at that. "That didn't take too long."

"Well, it wasn't hard to find."

"Still nice work."

"Thank you." Kawino came in with Mantear, both looking hopeful. "You two seem much better?" Cady observed.

"We had a good talk."

"You did?"

"Yeah, we did."

"Actually… I forgave her."

"You forgave her?" Cady asked, smiling a little.

"Yes I did." He nodded.

"Kawino, that's wonderful!"

"Now she just needs to forgive herself which is proving to be hard," he admitted.

"It's hard to." Mantear said.

"It's possible though." Kawino said.

"I'm going to try."

"I know. I really want you to."

"I'll try as hard as I can"

"I'll help." Kawino said.

"Well, thanks but I don't know how you could."

"I am not sure either but I will."

"Well, okay."

"So will I." Cady said.

"Why?" Mantear asked confused.

"You're making an effort that goes pretty far for me."

"What does that have to do with forgiving myself?"

"It makes me want to help you, you really want to change."

"Do you know how you could?"

"We'll be support."

"Well, okay, thank you."

"It's no problem." Cady said.

"Still, thank you very much."

"We just want to help." Cady smiled as she stepped up beside them.

"Which is surprising."

"Things can change."

"Well, it has been."

"This is one of those things."

"I guess."

"You'll get through."

"How do you know?"

"I have faith in you and Kawino."

"Still hard."

"It was never going to be easy."

"That's obvious."

"So worry less?"

"I'll try to."

"Good then."

"Not making any promises."

"Other than to try?"

"Yes."

"That is a start."

"So, the plan?"

"Right, I suppose Enobaria and I take first watch."

"Is it now then?"

"About an hour."

"Okay."

"Until then we wait."

"And do what?"

"I don't know talk or read?"

An hour later, it was time for Mantear and Enobaria to start the first shift. "Okay you kids be good while we're out."

"We will be," Kawino said.

"Alright, and Clove is in charge this time."

"Okay?"

"I just feel someone needs to be really."

"Okay, that's fair."

"Thank you."

"No problem."

The two women left headed for the address they had and keeping an eye out for Peacekeepers. Though at the moment they weren't really doing anything illegal, they tried to be careful.

They made a mental note each time they saw a Peacekeeper. It was quite a while until they reached the address.

They lived near the edge of the District. They stationed near the house, Mantear trying to ignore that. "Are you going to be alright?" Enobaria asked.

"Not sure," she admitted.

"Well, talk to me. We have time."

"I'm scared. What if they see me?"

"They won't we'll be alright." Enobaria said patting her back.

"You're sure?" Enobaria nodded with a small reassuring smile. "Well, okay, I believe you."

"That's good to know."

"Thank you, Enobaria."

"It's no problem." She said hugging the other woman a little.

"So, just pay attention?"

"Yes."

"Okay."

"We should bring snacks next time and maybe use a rooftop as well."

"Yeah, probably."

"Now, we mark each time we see a passing Peacekeeper."

"Got it."

"Should be simple, yeah?"

"Sounds like it."

"You know you're not so bad."

"You mean that?"

"Yeah, you seem like a good person now."

"I'm trying to be."

"Well, it's working so far."

"Thank you."

"No problem, I think you and I will get along well."

"Yes, we will." Mantear felt better getting Enobaria's approval. 'That just leaves my own...' She sat in silence besides Enobaria and thought about how surprising it was that the other woman had forgiven her.

Eventually their shift was over. "Alright we should get back." Enobaria said. Mantear nodded and headed off wanting to get away from there as soon as possible. "At least they didn't come out." Enobaria said as they left.

Mantear bit her lip and just nodded. "We'll get through this." Enobaria said.

"I hope so."

"We will; I promise at the end you and Kawino will feel much better."

"Thank you, Enobaria."

"It's no trouble," she said, smiling.

"You realize you didn't HAVE to forgive me right?"

"I know that I didn't have to," she said.

"Then why did you?"

"I really think you deserved it from me."

"I don't."

"Why not?" Enobaria asked.

"I don't deserve anyone's forgiveness."

"You do though. You have been working hard to change."

"I disagree."

"Why?" she asked.

"Nothing could make up for it."

"Well, I and other people disagree there."

"I just don't understand."

"Well, humans aren't easy to understand."

"That I've realized."

"So, don't feel so bad."

"What do you mean?"

"Sorry, I suppose I should've said don't be so confused a lot of us don't understand humans most of the time."

"Oh, o-kay?"

"Still don't understand though?" Mantear shook her head. "It's hard to explain really."

"Sounds like it."

"Just trust me; you earned my forgiveness."

"Okay, I believe you."

"Good, you should."

"It's all happening so fast."

"Seems to be, but things can happen that way."

"At least they're good things."

"Yeah, exactly."

"Just weird."

"It can be at times, but sometimes it makes sense."

"Now it doesn't."

"Not to you anyway."

"It does to you?"

"Well, yes, I know my reasons."

"What about everything else?"

"What do you mean?"

"Everything else makes sense so far. I can see why your kids forgave you anyway."

"Everything else just takes time to figure out."

"I guess so."

"You'll get it."

"I hope so."

"I feel confident you will."

"Well, thank you for that."

"Any time."

The rest of the shifts went through smoothly and with nothing notable and finally it was time to put things into action. Kawino and Mantear were nervous. "It'll be okay," Clove told them both. They were still very nervous for obvious reasons. Clove sighed. She tried but she hadn't really expected it to work anyway. "Cady, maybe you can calm them down?" She asked hopefully.

"I'm not sure anyone can," Cady admitted.

"Well, can't say I blame them really." She sighed.

"Neither can I."

"They'll be okay though better once this is all over."

"Yeah, I know."

"Just try to at least calm Kawino down, okay?"

"I'll try."

"Thanks, Cady."

She goes over next to him. "Kawino, how are you feeling?" she asked, taking his hand.

"I'm not sure."

"Well, talk to me," she said gently.

"I'm scared."

"I can understand why."

"What do I do?"

"You get through this," she said.

"What if we don't win?"

"We will win," she said, stroking his arm.

"How can you be sure?"

"I just am."

"Well, I trust you but…"

She silenced him by pressing her lips to his. "No buts," she said, drawing back. "We'll be fine. I promise," she said.

"Alright then, if you think so."

"I really do."

"Okay, we can do this."

"That's better."

He smiled a little. "Thank you, Cady."

"I'm glad I could help."

"Still, thank you."

She nestled into his side, "I was happy to help."

"And you did a lot."

"Then I am glad I could."

"So, when do we attack?"

"We leave soon."

"Okay."

"You ready?"

"As I can be."

"Good, I'll keep close I promise," she said, resting against him.

"Thank you, Cady."

"No need to thank me Kawino. I love you," she said.

"I love you, too, Cady." She smiled and just stayed leaning against him both keeping each other calm. They stayed that way until it was time.

Enobaria came in; "It's time."

"Okay, I'm ready," Kawino said.

"Me, too," Mantear said.

"Great, then let's go."

They headed out quietly into the dark streets. They headed to the Academy for Drusus first. Kawino was letting out slow steady breathes. Cady stayed close to him holding his hand but couldn't go any further at the moment. "I'm a little scared." He admitted.

"I know but there's no need to be."

"What if I lose?" He asked.

"You won't. I have complete faith in you."

"Okay," he said, heading inside.

It was after hours so there was no one on the bottom floor. He walked at a slow pace. Just being here spiked his nerves and he knew it wouldn't be long until they stop accepting him not being okay to train…

He knew though he had to make sure his father wasn't here when he was a student again. With that in mind, he made his way upstairs.

He stopped in front of the door and banished the last of his fear. He knew he needed every bit of confidence he has and more to pull this off.

He didn't bother to knock he pushed the door open. As he walked in he was shocked to see his father in the living room reading. He looked up from his books and was stunned to see his son standing in the home again.

"Well, well what brings you back here weakling?" He asked setting his book down and quickly hiding his own surprise though not before Kawino had noticed.

"I'm here to kill you."

"Oh, is that so you really think you can kill me?"

"Yes I do. You and me, main gym; we'll see who wins."

"Why there?" he asked.

"Because then no matter who wins it looks like a spar that got out of hand."

"Alright, let's do this then," Drusus says getting up. When he did, Kawino noticed that with the Capitol medicine fixing what the starvation prevented, they're about the same size.

Drusus' only advantage would be his height. He took this mental note as they walked down to the gym. "It was always going to end this way, between you and me," Kawino said, as they walked.

"Maybe, it didn't have to though," he said.

"Well, no, if you actually acted like a father none of it would have to but you choose to act like a monster instead."

"Oh, please everything I did was for your own good to make you stronger."

"What you did was make my life a living hell for eleven years."

"And look how strong you are now," he pointed out.

"At no thanks to you. There are other ways to make someone strong."

"My way was making you stronger for the games." He sighed.

"You ended up doing the opposite."

"I wish I could get you to see sense, but I guess that won't be happening."

"Sounds like you're the only one here who needs to be sense. What if I never went into the games and just ended up like my mother?"

"She was fine the way she was."

"No, she wasn't."

"Yes, she was to me."

"She was a mess."

"To you maybe."

"To her, I don't know what she was like."

"Let's just get this over with," he said taking up a sword.

"Gladly," Kawino said taking up one for himself.

They stood across from each other before Kawino charged swinging his sword at his father's head. Drusus blocked it though going for his own attack. Kawino dodged to the right and kicked him hard in the gut.

That actually did send Drusus back some. "Medicine, gave me the strength I should have always had." Kawino smirked at him throwing a knife at his father's legs. Since it's Kawino, the knife hit right below the knee cap cutting the tendon.

It made Drusus scream. Kawino smirked and did the same to the other leg forcing him to the ground. "I thought you were better than me?" Drusus asked. Drusus growled through the pain trying to get to his feat but obviously can't.

"This is different. You deserve this," Kawino said, but anyone, even Drusus could tell he was actually trying to tell himself.

"Is that so?" he asked, looking up at his son.

"Y-yes."

"You don't seem so sure." Despite the pain, Drusus smirked, he was getting inside his head and they both knew it.

"Shut up," Kawino said.

"You're just mad because you know I'm right."

"No, you weren't right then and you aren't now!" he said.

"You're just trying to convince yourself."

"Shut up and die!"

"Go ahead; see what you can live with." Kawino stabbed him through the heart. As soon as it does, he let go of the hilt as Drusus falls but he can't get what he said out of his head.

"He's wrong he has to be." He muttered. He looks at the blood on him and falls back. "He can't be right." He kept muttering.

"He's not," Cady said, coming over. He hadn't even heard her enter he was so lost in his thoughts he just sat there. Cady shook her head, this was very bad.

He needed to get out of here, go somewhere, anywhere else. How to move him though? She tried helping him to his feet. He did get up but the movement was more robotic.

She figured it was better than him not moving at all and led him back out the hallway. She got him outside as quickly as she could manage.

"What happened is he hurt?" Clove asked hurrying over.

She told her what Drusus told him in the fight. "He can't seem to shake it," Cady said worriedly. "Do you know what we could do?"

"You could take him home," Enobaria said.

"Okay, I will."

"Good, we'll go and deal with the others."

"Okay, hopefully it goes better."

"Yeah, I'll keep an eye on him."

"We trust you to." She nodded leading Kawino away.

Meanwhile, the others headed to the address they found. Mantear was now the nervous one. "I-I can't do this."

"Yes you can," Enobaria said.

"What makes you so sure?"

"I know you and how hard we trained."

"But they're so good…"

"We are better."

"I don't know."

"I do, we will do this together."

"Okay…"

"Let's go." Mantear nodded trying to calm down. Enobaria nodded. It was clear that calming down was easier said than done though. "We can do this another time." Enobaria offered.

Mantear shook her head. "This needs to be done now."

"Okay then." Mantear took another deep breath as they headed in.

Enobaria took the lead inside a small living room. Both were there on the couch. They were very surprised by the visit. "What are you doing here?"

"I am here to end this."

"And what is this?"

"This line of abuse, it ends here."

"It's already ended; you came here."

"We've come to kill you."

"Alright, let's see you try." Mantear ran in and tackled her mother. They both went down but this time, Nefandous managed to flip it so she was on top.

It didn't last long as Enobaria head-butted her hard in the nose making her lose focus enough for Mantear to throw her off. Nefandous growled and went back after Mantear.

Mantear lunged towards her punching her in the stomach. The father tries to pull her off though, only to be met with Enobaria's boot to the face.

He was sent back but soon went after Enobaria. She stood her ground. When he got close enough she slammed her fist into his nose.

That did entice a howl of pain since it was already broken from the kick but he sent an uppercut for Enobaria's jaw. She staggered backwards.

"It'll take a lot more than that," Enobaria said.

"Good, I have time."

"Keep telling yourself that," Enobaria said and punched him at the top of his chest.

He dodged and threw her. Enobaria almost hit Mantear, almost, but she tried not to let that discourage her and focus on her "mother". She dodged her mother's kick and landed one of her own.

Mantear dodged her mother's kick but was met with a punch. "Looks like you haven't gotten any better, you piece of shit."

Mantear grabbed her wrist and twisted so they all heard the crack. "How about you say that again?"

"You little bitch!"

"Look who's talking," Mantear said, twisting the already broken wrist harder. She screamed as Mantear punched her repeatedly. Mantear glared and slammed her fist twice into her mother's kidneys making her fall to her knees gasping. "It hurts, doesn't it?"

Her mother fell forward now on her hands and knees as she coughed up blood. Mantear grabbed her by the back of the neck and forced her mouth over the stair.

"You were always a terrible mother." She muttered. Mantear rose her foot above Nefandous' head. "I'm gonna enjoy this." She jumped slightly and slammed her foot down.

Her foot when down right at the back of her head. There was a sickening CRUNCH! Blood splattered all over the stairs and her mother went instantly still she could see bits of teeth scattered all over the floor.

"Serves you right." She sighed and looked over to Enobaria's fight.

Enobaria was gaining the upper hand. She hit the man hard in the throat before kicking him backwards. There was no movement after that so Enobaria checked finding the punch broke his windpipe. "Huh, didn't expect that to work."

"He's dead," she told Mantear.

"Really? Just like that?"

"Apparently."

"Oh, well, good."

"Yeah, they're both gone now."

"We need to go."

"Yes we do." Enobaria nodded and they headed out.

"I hope Kawino is okay."

"I really hope so, too."

"He seemed shaken."

"Very, we better hurry." She nodded and they headed out.

They moved faster now that they kept moving and got to the house soon. They entered and found Cato waiting for them. "Is he doing any better?" Mantear asked.

No not really, Clove and Cady are trying to calm him down."

"Where is he?" Enobaria asked.

"In his room." They immediately headed up.

They entered and found Kawino just lying on his bed staring at the ceiling. "Kawino," Enobaria said, coming over.

"I'm just like him." He muttered.

"That's not at all true."

"He said so, and I killed him."

"He deserved what you did for everything he did to you."

"He was defenseless though."

"No, he wasn't."

"I had him beaten."

"And you did what you had to do."

"Did I?"

"Yes, you did."

"He said I was like him."

"He was just trying to get inside your head."

"Well, it worked. It didn't help that he was already still in it," he added.

"Kawino you are nothing like him."

"I-I want to believe you."

"You're not like him," Mantear said.

"Then why do I feel this way?"

"Because you're a good person," she said gently.

"It doesn't feel like it."

"And that proves it."

"Yeah, Kawino, he never felt guilty about it. He never cared that what he was doing was wrong."

"And my caring about killing him makes me better?" Kawino asked.

"Yes, it does, actually."

"Really?"

"Yeah, it shows what's in your heart, which is what matters."

"Really?"

"Of course it does."

"What do I do?"

"You try to move on."

"What if I can't?"

"We're all here to help you."

"Okay," he said, still shaking.

"Just always remember that."

He nodded slightly though still seemed lost in thought. Enobaria sighed sitting down next to him. "Kawino?" she asked.

"It's hard," was all he said.

"Yeah, I understand it's going to be hard." She said gently.

"Will it get any better?" he asked, looking over at Mantear.

She hugged him close; "It will with time." She said gently.

"How long will it take?"

"It's different with everyone," she said.

"Will it be long?"

"Hopefully not."

"I really hope not."

"You'll be okay."

"I trust you. It's just…"

"Hard?" She asked.

"Very."

"It's going to be." She admitted.

"What can I do to make it easier?"

"Stay with the people who make you feel safe."

"So, you guys."

"Yes, keep them close to help you."

"Okay, I'll remember that."

"Good, and get some rest," she added.

"I will try." She nodded kissing his forehead and letting him lay back down.

Without a word Cady walked over climbed into the bed and snuggled up beside him looking at the others as if daring anyone to tell her to move. Of course, no one did. Kawino held her close and the others headed to the door. They both soon drifted to sleep.
