Sakura woke up in a cold sweat and shaking. One glance around the dark room told her she was in Shikaku's room, for further conformation she simply had to turn to the arm encircling her waist. She sighed in relief as her eyes adjusted to the darkness and she realized he was still fast asleep. She had woken before she started screaming, that was good. Slipping from the bed she slipped into the bathroom. Stuffing a towel in the crack between the door and floor she flipped the light switch and studied herself in the mirror. The recurring bags under her eyes were back, she was a bit pale and she was certain she needed to eat more; all common things after an extended mission, too bad they had been plaguing her for much longer than that. As her nightmare came to the front of her mind she felt nauseous. Sprinting for the toilet she emptied her stomach. Brushing her teeth afterwards, she was only slightly giddy that there was an extra tooth brush for her, she pulled on her shorts, and one of Shikaku's sweaters, something that was becoming her standard wardrobe, and slipped out of the room. For a while she stood on the outer of the house taking in the night life, watching as the deer would peak their heads out of the woods occasionally. Still feeling restless, she stepped into the grass and began walking. She didn't know where she was going she simply allowed her feet to carry her, eventually she ended up in front of the memorial stone. She couldn't help but feel nauseous again, holding her stomach back she simply sat and starred at one particular name.

Shikaku found her right before sunrise, the deer having guided him towards her. She looked so small sitting there in front of the stone, her knees pulled up to her chest with her arms wrapped around them. He couldn't help the relief that flooded him in knowing that at least she hadn't run out of the village.

Walking forward he knew that she heard him, but she said nothing. He sat beside her following her gaze to a name on the stone; Sasuke Uchiha. He was a bit puzzled at that, but he was fairly certain that she wasn't starring at the name for the same reason other people may think she was. So he simply waited, he wasn't disappointed.

They sat in silence for nearly an hour before she reached out, took his hand and started talking. "In the immediate aftermath of defeating Kaguya Sasuke challenged Naruto." He raised an eyebrow at that, he had been found several days after the final battle but when he and the others had been they had been told the story on how Sasuke had died defending Naruto. "They returned to the valley of the Shodai and Madara and began to fight; Sasuke with the intention of killing Naruto and Naruto with the intention of bringing Sasuke home. They had thought they had left me behind, or that Kakashi would stop me, but Kakashi was almost unconscious he was so low on chakra, but he was stable, I followed. They fought for a long time and then they clashed in an explosion that knocked them both back, Naruto was unconscious but Sasuke was still up. For a moment I thought for sure that it was over, that Sasuke would be satisfied but thenI saw Sasuke's eyes, he was going to kill Naruto. I couldn't let him, Naruto is basically my brother, he's my family and I love him, and in that moment anything left that I felt for Sasuke vanished and I just moved. Sasuke was so low on chakra he didn't even sense me, I just put my hand to his back, inserted my chakra and stopped his heart. He had just enough time to turn and stare at me in a look of utter disbelief and died. It was less than five seconds. Naruto woke up to find me staring at Sasuke; I broke down crying and just kept repeating 'I killed him," in that moment I was so certain that he would hate me. I should have known better, he wrapped me in his arms, hugged me, and held me. Sasuke was his brother just as much as I'm his sister he'd never be capable of killing either of us. The only other person who knows is Kakashi, and we all swore to never talk about, that we'd take it to our graves."

"So you just told everyone that he died as a result of the battle with Kaguya?"

She nodded "He did in a way."

Shikaku took a deep breath. She had been holding this in for nearly six years, it had wracked her body with nightmares, and she had allowed herself no true in-depth connections other than those she already had since then. That ended now. Pulling his hand away he watched her stiffen before he quickly wrapped his arms around her, pulled her into his lap and allowed himself to surround her. She cried for the next hour, the sobs racking her body, and when she was done he picked her up and carried her home.

By the time they reached the house she was asleep. He took her to their bed, tucked her in before climbing in beside her and watched her sleep. She slept soundly for the next ten hours, and a nightmare never woke her.

So I've actually had this chapter planned from the time I started the story, I don't know why but I like the idea of Sakura killing Sasuke. I'm not his biggest fan. Only one or two more chapters left, I still have to decide. Let me know what you think in a review. See y'all soon.
