Chapter 7

When Kim and Sesshomaru were back at the top of the well, Kim sat down on the lip and looked down.

"I hope I get to see them again," Kim said as she looked at the picture she had in her hand.

"I will make sure you do, Kimberly."

Kim looked up at Sesshomaru and smiled.

"Thanks, Sesshomaru."

Sesshomaru walked over to her and put an arm around her and pulled her to him.

With a quick motion, he pulled her bag from her shoulder and picked her up before jumping into the air and forming his youkai cloud under his feet. It had only been a few minutes when they landed on the outskirts of the camp.

"Kim!" Kagome cried as she ran at the redhead.

Sesshomaru put Kim down and the redhead embraced her friend.

"I've got some news that you're not going to like," Kim said as she pulled back to look Kagome in the eye.

"What? You know you can tell me anything."

Kim held out her hand to Sesshomaru and the demon lord handed her bag back to her.

"Let's go for a dip in the hot springs," Kim said as she walked toward the other side of the camp. "Sesshomaru, why don't you go ahead and rest? You've had a long few days."

Sesshomaru nodded before walking to a tree on the edge of the camp and sitting down.

Kagome watched in shock. She had never seen him so cooperative.

"Kim?" she asked.

Kim shook her head as she continued on toward the hot springs that Sesshomaru had told her about.

When they got there, Kim started to undress.

"Miroku, you had better leave!" she yelled.

Over to their right, the bushes started to rustle as Miroku jumped up and ran.

When Sango and Kagome turned back to Kim, she was already in the water her eyes closed.

"Kim?"

Kim turned to look at Sango.

"You two might want to sit down," Kim stated.

Once the other two were in the water, Kim looked between the two.

"Sesshomaru has asked me to be his mate and the bearer of his heir."

Both Kagome and Sango's mouths dropped open.

"He wants you to have his child?" Kagome asked.

Kim nodded.

"Don't tell me."

Kim nodded again.

"I've already agreed."

"You what?!"

"I agreed to be his mate."

InuYasha and Sesshomaru were both listening in on Kim's confession. While Sesshomaru had a look of contentment in his eyes, InuYasha was just the image of Rage.

"She did not just say that!" InuYasha growled as he turned to look at Sesshomaru.

"What are they talking about?" Shippo asked as he looked at InuYasha.

"It's just the news, kit."

Shippo turned to look at Sesshomaru.

"What is the news?" he asked.

"Kimberly has accepted my request to become my mate."

Shippo stiffened as he looked at the demon lord.

"So you better not lay a hand on her, Half-breed," Sesshomaru said as he glared at InuYasha.

InuYasha growled as he glared at his half-brother.

Kim got dressed before walking back to the man she was about to mate with. When she was close, she sat down next to him.

"Kimberly?"

Kim turned to look at the demon lord.

"I'm just thinking. I don't know if I'm fully ready to be a mother, but I did say I would have your heir."

Sesshomaru moved closer to Kim and pulled her against him, her back against his bone armor.

"Do not worry, my Kimberly. I shall take care of you."

Kim nodded as Sesshomaru wrapped her in his arms.

She stiffened slightly before relaxing in the embrace.

"Could you remove your armor, Sesshomaru? It's not comfortable."

He gently pushed her forward before removing his armor. As soon as it was removed, Kim leaned back against his chest.

"Thank you, Sesshomaru."

Sesshomaru wrapped her in his arms again and pulled her tight against him.

"You are afraid," he said.

"Yeah."

"Of me?"

"No. Of how my life might turn out. What happens when we mate? Where and when will we mate?"

"To mate, we must engage in sexual intercourse."

Kim stiffened.

"We will mate when you are ready. When you are, we will go to my palace. You are going to be the Lady of the West."

Kim turned around and looked into Sesshomaru's amber eyes.

"I thought you said that we were going to go back to the future when I had your heir."

"We will. But until you do, you shall be the Lady of the West."

Kim sighed before leaning back against Sesshomaru.

"No offense, Sesshomaru, but the only thing I can do is lead a cheer squad. I'm not ready to be the Lady of anything. Especially lands. I will become your mate, I made you that promise. But I wish to just remain a normal girl. Or as normal as one can be after I have your child and then go home with a husband."

Sesshomaru didn't say a word as he held Kim. He just looked ahead.

"What are you thinking?" she asked.

"About your time. Some of the items there were interesting."

"Like the recliner?"

Sesshomaru nodded as he looked down at Kim.

"That was a very comfortable chair."

Kim chuckled as she grasped his hand. She then started looking at his claws.

"Do you ever have to cut them?"

"No. They stay the same length."

Kim started rubbing his hand before looking up at him.

"You're hands are so gentle."

Kim then turned to look at his face more closely.

"What will happen to me when we mate?"

Sesshomaru moved his left hand to her face and traced her lips.

"You will become like me. A demon."

Kim looked around at the others watching them.

"What?" she asked.

"You're really going to become a demon?"

Kim nodded as she gripped Sesshomaru's hand tighter.

"I promised to become his mate. If that means that I'll become a demon, then so be it."

"You didn't hear the catch," InuYasha said as he leaned against a tree with the Tetsusaiga in his grip leaning against his shoulder.

"What catch?"

InuYasha turned his amber gaze on Kim.

"When you become a demon, you'll live as long as Sesshomaru. That means that you'll most likely outlive everyone you've ever cared about."

Kim nodded as she leaned against Sesshomaru.

"I know what I'm getting myself into," Kim said as a tear slid down her face. "I'll outlive all my friends. My family. I'll watch as my brother's grandchildren get married and have kids of their own. I know what I'm getting myself into."

Sesshomaru could smell his mate's tears as she leaned against him again.

"Do not fear, My Kimberly," he said. "All will be well."

Kim nodded as she looked ahead.

"I know it will. But my heart is still heavy."

Sesshomaru nodded

Kim dodged a blade as a bandit attacked their group.

"Kill the men! Take the women!"

Kim growled before she ran at the man, taking him down with little effort.

"What was that?" she asked as she pushed her foot into his chest.

"Get this wench off of me!"

"Sesshomaru?"

He was at her side in an instant.

"This man has ordered that all men be killed and all women taken away. What are your thoughts on this matter?"

Sesshomaru's amber eyes looked at the bandit on the ground, his gaze as cold as frozen steel.

"You dare to touch my intended?"

Kim looked over her shoulder to see the other bandits backing away from Kim slowly.

Kim looked back down at the bandit under her foot.

"My future mate asked you a question," she said, her foot pressing into the man's chest.

The man looked at the two of them with wide eyes.

"If I were you," Kim said as she slowly bent down to look the man in the eye, "I would get as far away from here as fast as you possible could."

Kim then removed her foot and watched as the man crawled away as fast as he could until he was a good distance away from the couple.

"Anyone else have something to say about my future mate?" Kim asked as she looked at the other bandits. They all shook their head before she motioned to their leader.

"Get out of here. Now."

The bandits bolted after their leader, the horses just grazing as if nothing was amiss.

As soon as it was clear, she leaned against Sesshomaru's chest.

"Hold me, Sesshomaru," she said. "Make me feel safe."

Sesshomaru gathered the redhead in his strong arms and held her against him.

InuYasha, Kagome, Sango, Miroku and Shippo all watched as Sesshomaru showed his emotions around the girl.

"Are we seeing things or is Sesshomaru holding Kim in a protective mannor?" Kagome asked.

"You're seeing the same thing we're seeing," Miroku said as he looked on at the couple.

"I thought so," Kagome said. "Kim?" she said as she walked over.

Kim looked over her shoulder as she remained in Sesshomaru's grasp.

"I'm okay," she said. "I'm just tired."

Kagome nodded before walking over to InuYasha and grasping his hand.

"Come on, InuYasha," she said. "Let's leave them alone."

Miroku and Sango both nodded in agreement and turned to walk away.

When everyone was gone, Kim reached up and stroked the magenta markings on his face.

"How soon are you wanting your heir?" she asked.

"As soon as possible. But not until you're ready."

Kim gave him a soft smile before reaching behind his neck and pulling him down into a gentle kiss.

As soon as they broke the kiss, Kim leaned against Sesshomaru's chest again.

"Don't worry, Sesshomaru," she said. "I won't keep you waiting much longer."

Sesshomaru didn't say a word. Instead he tightened his grip on her.

Kim and Sesshomaru have finally kissed!

As they continue their journey, things are bound to happen, enemies are bound to attack. Who will attack next? How will things progress between out main couple? You'll just have to wait (hopefully not as long this time) until next time! Til then,
