Chapter 7

It was the whore— the whore that Toby'd been sneaking around with after hours. It was the girl that Abby called 'best friend'. It was the girl that had sat down and tried to give her advice about what to do with her damaged relationship, when all along, she was the one stealing him from her. She was that unforgivable whore. It steamed Abby. She clenched her fists, and stepped into the dorm room, staring at the nervous couple. Spencer's eyes feared to look up at her friend, who probably wouldn't be her friend for much longer. Toby wished that he had listened to Jake before everything turned into a heated mess.

"Abby, I— " Toby began, struggling to speak. "I didn't know you were dropping by."

"I didn't know you were hooking up with my best friend, you jack ass!" Abby yelled, stepping closer to the bed that they had previously been locking lips on. "I came into this dorm, wanting to fix things— I wanted to make things right. I believed in us. I thought the love we had was real, but obviously not. Obviously not, since you've probably been screwing my best friend for a while. I started to suspect early on. Hanna and Aria noticed that you two suddenly got close. I didn't believe it! I literally told Hanna that the Spencer I know would never hurt me. I didn't believe anything, until I saw it with my own eyes! Spencer, be a little more careful the next time you start stealing my boyfriend! Was this a game? Was I not supposed to know? Was I the one holding you back from your love fests?"

Toby sighed and got up. He let go of Spencer. She looked up at him cautiously. Whatever he said could be a game changer.

"It wasn't her, it was me," he said.

"Bull," she called, shaking her head. "It takes two to commit this way. Don't try to be the hero."

"We were going to tell you," he promised. "Do you know how hard that is? Spencer loves you, Abby. She didn't want to hurt you!"

"Well, look where that got us," Abby said, rolling her eyes. "I'm not just mad that you stole my boyfriend. I'm mad that you freaking played me like I was a fool! Tell me Spencer, who the hell is Antonio? That was a joke, too, wasn't it?"

"I didn't have the heart to tell you that I was with Toby that night," Spencer confessed, sighing. "I'm sorry. So sorry... I... I just... It wasn't expected! I wasn't expecting to like him. In fact, I hated him! But it just started, and I couldn't stop it. I fell for him. I was selfish, I admit it openly. I wanted both things— I wanted my best friend, and I wanted the boy. I couldn't pick. I was too conflicted to make a decision, and I ended up hurting everyone."

"Damn right you did!" Abby yelled. "Don't play me like the villain. You were the one seeing him behind my back. I didn't think you were that kind of girl."

"What kind of girl?" Spencer asked, looking up nervously.

"A whore, Spencer," Abby angrily responded, furrowing her eyebrows. "A whore. You're a whore."

Without another word, the girl had stormed out of Toby and Jake's dorm room. Spencer glanced at Toby nervously. What if he didn't want to be with her anymore because of the mess that their relationship had caused? It was causing too much drama for them! Abby would surely make her seem like a whore to Hanna, Aria, and Emily. Guaranteed. She hoped that Jake and Caleb wouldn't think she was a whore. Maybe she was a whore. She didn't know what to think anymore. She just really hoped that Toby didn't think she was one.

"Spencer— " he started, sighing.

"I need to leave," she said, her eyes climbing away from his face.

He looked up at her curiously and asked, "You really want to be in the same dorm as Abby? All you'll do is earn yourself glares."

"I know," Spencer said, exhaling. "I'm not worried about her coming back. She probably isn't in our dorm. I'm pretty sure that she's with the girls, making them all find out that I'm the boyfriend-stealing whore that she thinks I am."

"You're not," he said. "She's just being crazy."

"I don't know what to believe anymore," she said.

"Spencer, I can guarantee that you're not! Please don't think that way!" Toby cried, looking at her.

"I'm going to get going," she said, ignoring what he had said.

"Why don't you stay?" Toby asked.

"I need some time alone," she responded.

"Are you regretting what happened between us?" he nervously asked. "I really don't want to hear you say that you regret what happened between us. I can assure you that I don't regret anything. I love everything about us, and I don't care what Abby thinks!"

"Yeah, but I do," Spencer said, staring at him. "Of course I love being with you. It's made me let loose, and become so much happier. But what can I say? It's definitely caused a lot of problems, including this rift in my friendship with Abby. She'll surely never forgive me for this. But I don't want to give up on us."

"I'd never give up on us," Toby began, "because I love you!"

She grinned. She grinned so wide, even though she knew that she was supposed to be remorseful and guilty about what she did to one of her best friends. She felt Toby's hands on her. He was pulling her in close so he could capture her lips with his. It was definitely their most passionate kiss yet. It wasn't sexy, it was full of love. It felt like a milestone. It felt like something telling her that there was nothing to regret. It felt like a sign telling her not to give up on this amazing guy that loved her.

"I love you, too," she explicitly whispered as she pulled back. "I'll see you soon, Tobes."

He kissed her again, but more loosely. The kiss almost felt gloomy, as if she was saying goodbye, and she was going to enter Abby's dark realm. She somewhat sniffled, even though she wasn't crying. She shot him a weak smile and walked out the door. She knew one thing for sure: she loved him. She was in love with him.

Okay, I know it's been forever, and this is a really short chapter, but I really had to update. I wanted them to say their "I love you"s. They needed to have some assurance that there was nothing to give up on. Obviously Toby's convinced, but Spencer's still on the fence. The next stage is dealing with her friends. Hanna, Emily, and Aria... Will they turn on her? Reviews would be much appreciated!
