Danny cautiously walked around the building, finding more prints, and claw marks. This was making him seriously consider leaving the building, because if whatever made these marks found him, he was dead for sure.
There were many things Danny wondered about his new powers. How he flew, what other powers he could have, why his hair waved like he was in hero wind in mutant form... But one thing stood out.
How was he a mutant and a human at the same time? How human was he still? How much of a mutant was he? All good questions, none of which he knew the answers to.
Tucker had seemed pretty interested in his powers, always pushing Danny to transform and fly. What if Tucker liked his mutant self more than regular old Danny Fenton? What if he lost his powers and Tucker wasn't his friend anymore?
Danny tried to push these thoughts out of his head, but they stayed without his consent.
His insecurities were slowly taking over, causing Danny to become more and more jumpy, more scared Tucker would hate regular old Danny Fenton.
Danny eventually heard a crash, and a monstrous screech. "The heck?" Danny brushed his waving white hair out of his eyes and ran in the direction of the noise, hearing a roar and thuds. Danny's blood ran cold. Something was inside the building. There was a monster and Danny was going to get eaten alive-
No Danny, calm down. Calm down or you'll accidentally start floating again. Danny mentally told himself. Keep your cool.
Danny hid behind a piece of concrete, carefully peeking around his cover to see...
A genuine monster, a twisted, green ape with soul sucking red eyes and bat wings, and clawed toes and fingers. It's fangs were enormous compared to that of an ordinary ape. Danny quickly pulled back, trying to make himself as small as possible. Fear shot through his veins, like liquid adrenaline mixed with acid shot through a slick tube. His heart pounded, as if it was trying to rip free from his chest.
The monster-no. The mutant slammed it's fist into the metal wall again, before slashing it again with it's clawed fingers. It turned to Danny's direction as Danny whimpered in fear. Danny could die today. Danny might never see his family again...
Danny almost smacked himself as he began to crawl backwards. Wings or no, surely the mutant wouldn't be able to fly faster than him, right?
Danny sure hoped not.
Vlad floated back into his sizable mansion, finally having arrived after his escape from the hospital. Vlad summoned back up his human self, and stretched with a yawn. Vlad was ready to sleep in his own bed, with his fluffy white cat.
Maybe he should pay a visit to Maddie... Surely he would be welcomed. And Jack most likely wouldn't mind since Vlad saved his daughter. Yes, it was definitely time to pay a visit to the Fenton Family. He needed to check on Daniel to, the boy was sure to have discovered his new power by now. Maybe Vlad could teach him... train him. Show him everything Vlad had learned.
Vlad had completely forgotten about the method he used to leave the hospital, and about the doctors he burned.
Normal Vlad Masters was back, for now.
AHHHHHH!" Danny screamed as he flew backwards, slamming into a wall and sliding down as the mutant screeched. That monster, Danny had learned, packed a serious punch. It only took one hit to throw him backwards more than two dozen feet. His gut felt like it was filled with molten lead, his knees trembled. Danny forced himself to his feet, just in time to dive out of the way of another punch, this one nearly punching through the wall. He concentrated with all his might, flying upwards, hoping to stay out of the reach of the mutant ape. Mutape? No that sucked. The monster flung itself at Danny, spreading it's bat like wings as it cocked one fist back.
"OW!" Danny yelped as the monster smashed it's fist into his gut again. This time Danny slammed into the top of a metal table, as a toxic glow rose inside the mutant ape's mouth. "Uh-oh." Danny groaned just before he was forced to fly backwards as the monster shot a glob of energy from it's mouth. He managed to float securely as he watched the monster scream. "Oh crud."
The monster and Danny played a very odd, very dangerous game of cat and mouse for a few minutes, until the monster landed another punch, sending Danny flying out of the window. Danny slammed into the ground hard, rolling as he returned to human form. "Owwww..." Danny struggled to his feet. Every part of his body ached, his energy was drained. He would not win a fight with this monster. Especially when he couldn't even fly.
The monster burst through the walls of the abandoned plant, screeching as it flew like a.. ahem, bat out of hell. Danny was to tired to even scream, he couldn't keep himself upright, so he let himself fall to his knees, pulling his black and purple backpack off of his shoulders. Rifling through his backpack, Danny pulled out the only invention he had been willing to keep. A device called the Fenton Thermos. He got a flash in his mind of himself sucking... Some kind of rock star girl with blue flames for hair into the thermos? Odd, but Danny had felt an instinct to keep this device with him. That it was very important.
He inspected the device, running his fingers over the smooth, green circuitry. There was a rim of neon blue under the lid, with three buttons in a row, each of them red. He knew it was supposed to do something bad to mutants, and the gorilla/bat/thing flying at him was definitely a mutant. So Danny pointed the end with the buttons away from him, aiming for the monster. He quickly clicked the button closest to the end... and the rim under the cap beeped. Danny wanted to smack himself, of course he had to take the cap off. To late, he had been so occupied with the thermos he hadn't noticed the monster flying at him. So imagine his surprise when a monster fist slammed into the ground, right in front of his feet.
Danny fell backwards as the mutant monster roared, raising it's claws to rip him open.
"AHHHHHH!" Danny screamed, ripping off the cap of the thermos. "I have a uh-uh a thermos! And I'm not afraid to use it!" Danny shouted.
The Mutant reared back... and Danny clicked one of the buttons. nothing happened. He clicked another one, nothing happened.
But when he clicked the last button -the one closest to the uncapped end- a flood of neon blue energy was released. It looked a lot like water, as it slammed into the monster.
The monster was sent flying back, as Danny released the button and slammed the cap back onto the weapon. Shoving it back into his backpack, Danny zipped up the bag and slung it over his shoulder. He transformed, the rush of energy accompanied by fear and adrenaline. Mixed together, they felt like a burning liquid inside his gut and flowing through his veins. The monster stood, as Danny flew away. There was an odd, tingly feeling that went through his whole body, which faded in and out whenever something took his focus away. Like small acorns or bugs. The monster roared whenever the tingling was gone, so Danny concentrated on it as hard as he could while keeping himself airborne to keep it going.
The flight back to his house was mainly uneventful after the monster left him alone. Danny opened his window and flew through, summoning the last of his strength as his body forcibly returned to human form to stagger over to his bed and flop over it as he passed out.
I'd have to say that was a relatively lengthy action scene. Without it the word count is only like 576.
Now, I knew I couldn't use the Fenton Thermos like in the show, but I wanted it in the story.
And Vlad Masters is not evil. Vlad PLASMIUS is evil. He's got a split personality type thing going and Masters doesn't know about it.
