Moordryd's Lullaby
Chapter 7: The Legend & Lyra
Lyra woke atop a plush bed and slowly sat up. She was dressed in a black gown that flowed around her ankles. Slowly getting to her feet she looked around. She spotted the door and slowly made her way towards it barefoot. Testing the door to find it unlocked she opened it and on the other side was a long hallway. She chose the left side and started walking the floors were slightly chilly to her bare feet. She found another door and it too was unlocked. Opening it was harder as it was a much heavier door. Upon entering it she saw a command center complete with chair before her. She walked across the ramp and noticed the chair was occupied. "Word?"She asked and the man looked up to see her standing there. "Ah, you've awakened. How do you feel?" She looked at him a moment before answering. "I hurt all over and I want to see my dragon we took a heavy hit." The doors opened right then and the Shadow Booster walked in. "Ah Shadow Booster, you have excellent timing." Lyra looked the Shadow Booster over but said nothing clutching her necklace gently. "Word, who is this girl?" He mans harsh voice asked. "I would like you to hear something from an ancient text." Word said calmly and traced a passage in the book on his table. Then he began to speak:
"Five hearts united in Balance
Black,Gold,Blue,Green and Red
United, but alone will fall
Without Grey to aid them all.
Cautious of Crimson jealousy
Blue forges a bond of troubled hearts
Green thinks and learns of the oldest arts
Black and Gold aside differences must set
Else darkness can rule yet
Two born from One hope
When Light and Shadow both
Are held by Grey with love
Darkness will tremble with fear
Knowing now the end is near
The voice of the Grey will call
the pride of dragon kind will answer
Together with them balance
Will be restored."
"This passage is why I have brought you here Lyra, One of my son's crew reported to me it was you who stopped Libris, simply by touching him." Lyra's eyes narrowed slightly, Behind the mask Moordryd vowed to find out who squeaked to his father and ring their neck. "So what, He didn't hurt me."Lyra bit out. Word was surprised again to see how much she resembled her mother. "I believe this passage pertains to you."
She snorted. "I want to leave Word. What ever it was that made Libris calm is not your business but mine." Moordryd was taken aback by her sheer guts to argue with his father. "As you can plainly see I have one more meeting to attend to.." She hissed darkly and a wraith dragon appeared. "Let me leave now!" Word was stunned as his wraith dragon backed away as her hair lifted slightly as pure gray energy swirled in the room. "Very well I will have this wraith dragon escort you out of the tower. I don't want to hurt you Lyra. Your mother was very dear to me." She looked at him and her eyes softened slightly. "She was very fond of you too, she kept a picture of you in a locket she wore about her neck. She loved you until the day she died." Lyra turned to the dragon. "Will you lead me out now?" The dragon nodded and started walking.
Lyra followed the dragon and the doors closed behind her. "Shadow booster. I need you to watch that girl. If she is indeed who I think she is, She will be the key in the Dragon-human war." The shadow booster nodded and departed after the girl. He caught up easily as the wraith was walking very slowly as Lyra hobbled along behind it. "You are injured..." She turned on him fists raised, seeing it was the Shadow booster she lowered her fists. "I was thrown from my dragon I don't know how much time has passed but I must find him."When they passed through the exit door she waived to the wraith before it vanished.
"You like Dragons." He said and she smiled. "I adore Dragons, There are a couple who are not going to allow me out of their sight for awhile." She saw Decepshun's dark form and was astonished. "How beautiful. Is she yours?" The booster nodded. "How did you know she is female?" Lyra smiled holding out her hands to the dragon who lowered her head and was gently scratched and petted. "No male dragon has such a fine bone structure and she holds her self as only a proud female does." Moordryd's secret smile grew when his dragon began to hum with delight. "So pretty." He looked at his dragon and with a sigh the dragon pulled her head up and magged him to his saddle. "Come I will take you somewhere safe." She was magged to the dragon's back and she straddled the dragon's shoulders. She nearly fell asleep during the ride as the dragon ran smoothly. "Just around the corner you will find safety." She slid down and petted the dragon's side. "Will I see you again?" Moordryd was in awe. "Perhaps." And he turned Decepshun away from her and the dragon ran off down the alley.
Lyra turned and walked around the corner only to be stunned. Before her stood Connor's stables. She hobbled as fast as she could across the track, just then the door opened and Artha's eyes met hers. He dropped the sack of trash and ran to the hobbling woman. "Lyra!" She went to fall but he caught her and swept her into his arms bridal style. Her passed out form leaned against him trustingly. The others had hear his cry and came running to see him carrying the woman they had searched the city for. Moordryd returned and Artha looked at him and he nodded. "Come bring her inside she is undoubtedly injured and requires rest." Connor said and Artha brought her inside and laid her gently into the bed and Moordryd pulled the covers over her shivering form. "So its true he had her." Once Lance went to bed the others gathered in the planning room and Moordryd told them about the book passage and the strange way the wraith dragon had backed away from her.
"She is a gray draconium user, first one born since the last Dragon-human war. The last one was on the side of darkness. But Lyra loves dragons to much to use them as weapons. I believe its time she meets Mortis. And receives training to control her awakening power." Artha nodded. "And the Dragon-booster will take her to him?" Connor nodded and clapped Moordryd on the shoulder. "Good job finding her, Word is truly trying to start another Dragon-human war." Moordryd's eyes were wide he had never been praised before by nearly anyone but Lyra and he nodded dumbly still in shock. Lyra woke to the warmth of the sun on her back and slowly sat up her body still aching from the day before. After getting out of bed she noticed there was a bathroom attached to this bedroom and went and used it. After cleaning her face and washing her hands, she exited the room to find someone she never thought to see. Clad in golden armor he stood by the window.
"Dragon Booster?" The man turned and nodded. "There is someone you wishes to meet you. Will you come with me?" She nodded and he extended his hand and she took it. Once outside the house he led her to a dragon stall and when she saw the dragon within she gasped. "Beau!" the dragon hummed and when she hugged his neck he lowered his head as if embracing her back. "Its been 12 years since I've seen you. I remember our first meeting." he snorted and she laughed. Suddenly the wall opened and an elevator stood waiting. "Come along Lyra." The dragon-booster said. She and the dragon of legend walked into the elevator. Artha was stunned by the fact she could hug his dragon and not be pushed away by his aura.
As the elevator took them down Lyra leaned against beau. "You know Artha Penn has a dragon who shares your name, but he looks different." The dragon gave a low chuckle and the doors opened and Lyra looked at the statues in awe. "Dragon priests.." A new voice spoke. "Correct Child." She whorled around only to stumble against Beau. "Careful Child your injuries are healing." She looked at the priest in awe. "What do you want of me, I'm nothing special."She said and he slammed his staff on the stone floor and she jumped.
"You are very special Lyra Hiwatari. You may hold the power to tip the scales of balance. Tell me the passage the man who captured you read to you. She turned and saw the Shadow booster standing next to the Dragon booster. She also saw his dragon behind him. Slowly the story came out of Lyra but her words were disconnected and hollow. When she was finished there were tears running down her face. "Calm young one. I know of this passage you speak of. Its a tale from the time of the first Dragon-human war." Lyra looked at him. And he explained the first war and how it started and why Connor had bred the black and gold dragon next to her. "Your Gray draconium core allows you to boost a dragon's power. You were able to calm the confused Libris because you share the same power he does. You ride a Gray bone dragon." She was stunned.
And then a shape appeared out of the darkness and Lyra started crying again, Nyghtmayr hummed at her and embraced her as Beau had. "you have a special power of uniting other wise fighting powers." She looked at the priest and sighed. "I need to know how to harness this power you say I have if I am to be of any help to stop this horrid war. Connor has been teaching me how to wield my powers on the racetrack but, I need to know more about myself and my dragon. You said no one like me has been born since the last war. It stands to reason another war is on the rise since I was born. How can I help the Dragon and Shadow Boosters?" The priest smiled at the young woman. "Be who you are, you will train with me from this day forward I will teach you to harness the power you and your dragon have. How to merge it with either of the boosters to give them aid." She nodded. "We will begin training when you are healed. But I have some simple exercises you can do while you recover." She smiled and he handed her the scroll and she was taken back to Connor's house.
