Derek's POV
There is definitely something wrong with this girl. I mean, who in their right mind wants to have a serious conversation in the bathroom where people can quickly assume we're showering together? I guess Chloe is that kind of person who loves to make certain situations more complicated than practical as possible.
"You are crazy," I said after gathering my surprise of finding Chloe hidden behind the shower curtains.
"Perhaps," Chloe shrugged. "But I hear all the best people are crazy."
"Not the kind that hides in bathrooms and scare the daylight of them, just so they can talk."
Chloe stepped out of the shower, but turned on the cold water, so it would drown out our conversation without steaming up the room. Clever, I thought to myself. She isn't as dumb as you might assume she was.
"Okay, now let's talk about our situation," Chloe said bluntly. "I'm guessing that you haven't told your family about us."
"It's not like it's a casual thing to talk about," I grumbled. "I couldn't go and tell my family that I got married drunk, like it was a conversation about the weather."
"I know, but I assumed you would say something since I gathered you guys are very close."
"Unless I had completely lost my mind, I would never tell them anything knowing that they would make fun of it for what its worth," I shrugged. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"Similar to your reasons, but mostly because I didn't want my family to murder you if they ever found out, " Chloe said. "My aunt would definitely have killed you for marrying me while we're drunk. Trust me when I say she would since she have always hated your type of personality."
"And what is my personality?" I wondered. I was starting to feel insulted by her personal views of me. What her aunt thought didn't matter to me, it was her niece and my wife I was more concerned about.
She pulled her fingers through her hair in frustration, I was not sure if she was frustrated with me or something else, but she didn't direct any anger at me. Only said: "Grumpy, stubborn, anti-social, always have to be right…"
Okay those were not what people define as good traits, but at least she didn't say something that was totally off the planet. She continued saying: "Brutally honest, which often is mistaken as being rude. Thinks logically instead of just questioning things. Very protective, compassionate and caring towards people, especially the ones you love."
I felt stunned by her description of me, despite only knowing about me for a week, she actually understands me like she has known me for years.
"So how do you feel about being married to me, drunk or not?" Chloe questioned. She quickly ended the topic, going back to our situation. Somehow I got the feeling that she was getting a little embarrassed, and to be honest so was I.
Her question made me stop for a second and think more clearly what she was trying to say. I mean I don't know anything about her, but something about her made me absolutely crazy. I have been thinking about her a lot this week and not just because I needed to find her just to clear this up, but just to see her and hear her voice. God, and now I sound like a lovesick teenager. Just fantastic.
"I…I want to know," I said carefully. "I want to know more about you."
"I want to know about you too," Chloe said with a small smile on her face. She is so beautiful when she smiles. "I don't want to just divorce or have an annulment before I really have good reason to leave and stop wondering about you."
"So what do you suggest we do?" I asked as we leaned further towards each other. Her eye lashes when up and down as she was trying not to look directly into my eyes. I wanted to see those baby blue eyes that were such in contrast to my own green eyes. I pulled her chin slowly up, making her unable to look anywhere else than at me.
"How about we just try go on a date and just take it from there?"
"Sounds like a good plan to me," I said as I leaned down just a few meters away from her lips. Chloe followed my lead and just when we were about to seal the deal, if you know what I mean, the bathroom door opened up.
"Derek, have you seen Chloe….AND OH MY GOD!" Tori said before she quickly noticed what we were doing or what we were about to do if she didn't came and interrupted us. "That's just disgusting. My eyes, my poor traumatized eyes!" Tori cried.
"Tori, just try to keep calm," Chloe tried to soothe Tori's reaction. However the try was already a failure before she even got started trying, and it only got worse.
"Hey, what is all the shouting about?" Simon appeared in the door with confused look on his face.
Before either Chloe or me got a chance to explain, Tori just cried out loud in embarrassment:
"I was looking for Chloe and I found her with Derek as they were just about to kiss each other, and shower together."
Chloe put her face into her hands in embarrassment while I could feel my whole face turn warm due to the accusation.
"Whoah, hold on Tori that wasn't what we were doing," I tried to explain, but even I knew it was no use once the ball started rolling down.
"Dude, seriously you just met her and now you two are smooching and taking showers together," Simon freaked out. "If you want to do those things do it at least when no one is home to catch you in the act. Besides that's our sister's best friend, and there are rules that states that we are not allowed to make a move on sister's friends!"
"What kind of rules?" I asked. I never heard such rules, and I'm sure I know more about abiding rules than Simon. I know at least better how to be secretive about breaking the rules than him; after all I haven't been caught many of those times I actually broke the rules and that was when I was still a teenager.
"WE'RE DOOMED!" Simon yelled dramatically. "How the hell did this even happen anyway? You two didn't even seem to remotely like each other thirty minutes ago."
Neither Chloe nor me answered, only looked at anything except Tori and Simon. There was no need to make the situation more complicated.
Little did I know that it was only getting worse when dad walked in and told us dinner was ready.
