Chapter 7: Natsu's Decision
LUCY'S POV
"Hey Levy." I said while fixing my things
"What is it Lu-chan?" she asked as she carried her bag
"Uhm… I was wondering."
"Go on."
"Have you seen Natsu?"
Her eyes widened for a second. I guess she was still processing the words that had come out from my mouth. "Levy?" I asked to make sure if she was fine. But instead of getting a proper reason, what I got was a squeal that's so high that it could make your eardrums pop!
"OMG! OH MEH GAAAD! OH MY GOOOOSHHH!" Levy said while squealing. I never knew Levy was such a fan girl towards me and Natsu. Wait, what am I saying? Natsu and I aren't in a relationship yet! Besides he only thinks of my as a little sister or as a childhood friend! SO I'm not getting my hopes up. "Lucy, are you going to confess your feelings for him now?" she continued as she emphasizes the word 'now'
My face heated as I heard those words "WHAT?!" I screamed as I raised my hand to hit her "Say that one more time and I'm going to hit you!"
She gave me a wry smile and giggled "Then why are you looking for him?"
I crossed my arms and turned my back on her "I'm not talking to you anymore."
"You're in denial!"
"N-No I'm not!"
"Then why won't you tell me the reason?"
"FINE! I'll tell you!" I said as I gave a big sigh. I really can't lose in arguments with Levy! She's too smart for her own good! She smiled and looked at me, curious on what I am going to say next. "Natsu and I promised each other to spend more time together, since I'm already in high school like him."
"So?" she asked as she raised a brow
"So that means we have to go school together, eat lunch together and go home together!"
Her eyes sparkled "That's so cute!"
"What's so cute about that? It's just normal for us to do so since we're best friends."
She giggled "That's true. I just hope you two will be out of your friend zone relationship."
"Yeah. I hope so too," I said "He's acting strange today though. I wonder what happened to him."
"Why did you say that?"
"Well first of all… Natsu didn't come with me for lunch today and secondly, I haven't even seen him for the whole day here in school! Is he ignoring me?" I said in frustration
Levy patted my back "Or maybe he's just busy," she said trying to calm my nerves "You know Natsu, he's just so unpredictable." She continued as she grabbed her backpack as we start to walk "Besides Lu-chan, it's not like you can't see him every single day! I mean, just look at the both of you! Ever since you started going to school, you and Natsu had always been together! You guys always walk to school and go home together! Sometimes we even assume you two are already… you know what I mean."
"You mean… we look like we're in a relationship?" I asked as I touched my cheeks which are now boiling in embarrassment; meanwhile, Levy just nods in agreement.
As we walked through the gates, I saw Natsu waiting for us around the corner. Something seems weird though, since his face isn't as jolly as before "Well, I'll be going now Lu-chan! I don't want to interrupt your moment with your future hubby!" She said as she gave me a perverted smile
My face heated once more "LEVY!" I yelled as the petite girl made her escape. Urg! I can't believe she said Natsu is my 'husband'! We're not even in a relationship yet; moreover, we are NOT engaged! My father will freak out if we have that kind of relationship in such an early age! But I'm not sure with my mother though, sometimes I assume that they want us to be in a relationship. With the thought, I sighed deeply.
"Were you waiting long?" I asked causing Natsu to go back to reality. This is weird. It's rare for Natsu to be like this, maybe something is bothering him?
"Well what do you think?" he said as he gave an irritated look "You're so slow! You move like a turtle!"
I think he's back to normal now "Well… it's because our teacher dismissed us late." I reasoned out and gave a deep sigh
"Yeah, Yeah" he said mockingly "Hurry up slow poke! Let's get going! We'll eat somewhere fancy today!"
My eyes widened, is he asking me out? I asked myself No! It can't be silly me! He only thinks of you as a friend, ok? Don't get your hopes up Lucy! Or you'll be the one who'll get hurt in the end "Eh? Why?" I asked
"Well… nothing! I just want to spend time with you since I missed our meeting during lunch break," he said as he smiled
I blushed, we're going to eat dinner somewhere fancy just because he didn't join me this lunch? URG! Natsu what the hell are you doing to me! Wait… hold on a minute how about our parents? They'll be angry if we'd miss dinner! Natsu seemed to have read my thoughts since he slipped his hand to mine and held it tightly as he smiled to me once more "Don't worry Lucy." he said "I called our parents, they said that it's fine and just enjoy the night."
I gave him a doubtful look "Are you serious?"
"Aww… That hurts," he said as he acted out all hurt and stuff by grabbing t-shirt near his heart "You don't trust me after all we've been through?"
I punched him in the shoulder hard enough to make him lose balance "IDIOT!" I yelled "You're overly dramatic!"
He chuckled "I was just fooling around, stupid Lucy!"
"Whatever!"
We start to walk again; he's awfully silent this time. Is it just me or does he seems… uh… spaced out. "Natsu?" I asked but he didn't seem to notice me so I called again but this time in a louder tone then again, he completely ignored me. Something up, I know there is. "NATSU!" I half yelled at him as I hit his head with my hand
"OW!" he said snapping him out in his thoughts "What was that for LUCY! You wanna fight?"
"Tss… you can't fight a girl!" I said confidently "Especially when it regards to me."
"Well then Lucy Heartfilia, you got me!" he said as he laughed half heartedly "You happy now?"
"No." I said crossing my arms and didn't look at him in the eye
"URG!" he growled as he messed his hair up "What's up with you? What do you want from me?"
"I want answers."
"What?"
"I said, I want answers!"
"What the hell are you talking about Lucy?!"
"Don't act dumb Natsu; I know you're smarter than that."
"Urg! Honestly Lucy, I. Do. Not. Know!" he said as he speed up his pace
Luckily I caught up with him but before I could argue with him, he had already gone to a fancy looking restaurant. My eyes sparkle seeing the huge breath taking place. Call me an ignorant girl, I don't care! Sure, you all know that I'm a rich kid but daddy rarely take us out for dinner so we can't get used to spending so much money and you know what he is, he loves money but I still love him, he's still a loving and caring father and husband to me and my mom.
I spot Natsu talking to a waitress, who's giving goo-goo eyes on him. She's even acting all cute and mushy towards him! URG! I can't stand the sight of that girl flirting with Natsu!
'Calm down Lucy! What the heck are you getting all worked up about? Didn't you remember that Natsu isn't yours? You're not in a relationship yet so calm down!'
The voice in my head is right, I shouldn't feel this way. I took a deep breath as I calmed myself down. I noticed Natsu and the waitress walked further away so I ran after him "Tss. Slow poke." Natsu said mockingly as he grins like an idiot
"Shut up."
We sat down in our respective places as we scan through the menu. You might think that he'll let me sit first like a true gentleman right? Well… sorry… but in our case we don't do that kind of stuff. It's kind a weird for us to do so
The food here is great! They look so delicious! I'm sure Natsu would order a whole lot of it but of course, he'll request it to be extra spicy. But when I look at the right side, my eyes widened. IT'S WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!
"Natsu, who's going to pay for all of this?" I asked "Did you see the prices? This is waaaayy to expensive."
"What are you talking about? Ajsdfajdvajsd!" he said completely out of words as he saw the price. You got to be kidding me, right? He just noticed it now? "The price! It's too much for my allowance this week!"
I sighed "I guess we have to transfer?"
He's eyes became all teary. I guess he really want to eat here "I guess so." He said in disappointment as we went out.
"What now?" I asked
"Let's just go grab some barbeque."
"Fine." That's all I could say but deep inside I was really disappointed like he is. I really want to eat in that kind of restaurant too!
We entered a small place and had our dinner there. Natsu ordered a lot but mostly it belongs to him. I don't really eat too much because I really don't want to gain some weight. Natsu ate the grilled chicken as fast as he could and proceed to chomp down some barbeque one after the other. Geez, Natsu eats like a pig! "Lucy."
Looking at him in confusion, I asked "What is it?"
"Aren't you going to eat?" he asked while pointing down at my untouched food
"OF COURSE!" I said while filling my mouth with some rice and pork
He chuckled "You're weird," he said "But no matter what you are, I'll always love you."
I froze. D-Did I hear it right? Or is it my imagination? D-Did Natsu just said to me that he LOVES me?! No, no it can't be! I shook my head in denial as I slapped both my cheeks with my hands "Anyway Natsu, what's wrong with you?" I asked
"What's wrong with me?" He asked while raising a brow "What do you mean?"
"Well… you've been acting kind a strange today," I said "Is there something bothering you?"
He remained silent as he looked down at his half empty plate. Geez! This silence is killing me! SO there is something that's bothering him!
"Natsu."
He looked at me in a miserable way not giving me any hints of what his problem may be.
"Natsu, you know you could always tell me anything."
He gave me a weak smile and nodded "I know," he said faintly "But in this problem, I don't think you could neither solve nor help me with this. Sometimes I've got to do this on my own."
My eyes widened as those words came out. This is really strange; please don't tell me Natsu is inlove! It's my turn to stay silent. I'm completely speechless! How am I going to be with him if he is already inlove with someone; moreover, if this certain person who he loves isn't me?! How can I have my happy ever after like fairy tales do if I can't even win the heart of my own love?
Oh, com'on Lucy! Stop being so overly dramatic!
"By the way Lucy… I've also been wondering," he said as he looked away smiling "Have you found someone you like?"
I blushed "A-Ah… Eh… Uhm… I… I have." I said while stuttering. Urg! That was so lame!
"Oh… I see." He said and looked at me as his face brightens "I hope you good luck!"
"T-Thanks." I said as I looked down
After we finished our meals we went home. As usual, Natsu walked me home like we always do. As he knocked the door, my mom opened it with a big smile on her face "Aunt Layla!" Natsu said as he gave her a big hug.
"Thanks for bringing Lucy home again, Natsu dear." Mom said as he hugged him back
Natsu pulled away and smiled "It was as easy as eating cake Aunt Layla." He said while giving her a thumb up "Besides, I also thank you for letting me spend time with Lucy today. It was fun!"
"The pleasure is mine Natsu." Mom said as he bowed her head "Anyway, I'll be taking Lucy of your care now. Please do have a safe trip back home."
"Oh! Com'on, Auntie! You know me; I can handle myself pretty well!" Natsu said as he punched his hand with the other
"I know. I know. I just don't want you to be hurt."
"I won't."
"Oh! For goodness sake cut it out you two!" I said in irritation
"Oh! Is my daughter jealous?" mom said as he gave me a wry smile
"T-There is no way I'll be jealous of something like that! I'm going to my room," I said as I stomped inside but for a moment I looked back and smiled at Natsu "See you Natsu! I had a great time."
"See you!" he said as he waved goodbye
I go to my room as I jumped into my soft cottony bed. This is heaven! I was about to close my eyes when I heard a knock from my door "Lucy?" the voice called. That must be mom. I wouldn't dare to answer to her, so I pretended to be asleep. She knocked again and finally opened the door "Lucy, I know you're awake. I'm your mom for goodness sake."
I still didn't open my eyes or make the slightest move. Though I couldn't see her face right now I could sense her planning something horrible. She leans closer to my face as I could feel her breath closing to mine "Lu…cy." She said sweetly as it gave me a chill into my spine "Wake up Lucy." She said it again but this time in a seductive way. OH gross! I can't believe my mom is doing this to me! She knows I hated that tone! "I know you're still awake so open your eyes." She lean closer to me and blew a bit of air into my ears.
"KYAAAAAAAA!" I screamed. Urg! I hated that feeling! "MOM!"
My mom simply smiled "I knew you were awake." She said
I sighed deeply "I am now."
"Now… Lucy… Would you mind telling your lovely mother what happened?" Mom said as she gave a perverted smile
My face flushed "N… N… Nothing happened! It's just like the old days mom!" I said
Mom hugged me tightly as she whispers in my ear "Oh com'on Lucy… I know something happened."
"NOTHING HAPPENED!" I snapped
My mom just laughed and patted my back "Okay, okay! Keep this day for yourself but can you at least give me an answer to one of my questions?" she asked with hopeful eyes. I sighed in defeat and nodded to my grinning mother "Do you like Natsu?"
My face turned ruby red as I looked away from her grinning face
She made a loud squeal causing my poor eardrums to slowly break "You do don't you?!" she said while squeeling like a crazy fan girl
I gave a deep sigh of defeat as I nod saying "Y-yes... I do l-like him."
"You like who?" mom said teasingly
"Urg! I LIKE NATSU!" I half yelled as my face brighten with the color red causing my mom to squeal like a teenage fan girl. Okaaay.. Now this got me wondering why on earth do the people around me ship Natsu and I together?
NATSU'S POV
As I went back home, my mom stood there waiting for me. She looks pissed for some reason. Did mom and dad fought again? "Natsu Dragneel." she called out to me with her eyebrows furrowed down "Why on earth did you come home so late?!"
"I uhm... took Lucy out for dinner as an apology?" I said as I avoid her death glare
"You did what?!" she asked surprised as her eyes bulged while her mouth dropped "D-Did Layla know about this?"
I nod as a response to her question. Grandine, I mean mom, went furious and had hit me with her mighty fist. I gave off a small growl and glared at my mother "What was that for?" I asked as I touched the part where my mom had hit me
"How could you tell Layla and didn't even bother to tell me, your dearest most loving mother, about this whole date?"
I turned around and started to climb the stairs "It's not a date ok?" I said with a plain tone "It was simply an apology."
My mom giggled as her smiled went bigger and bigger every second, which kind a gives me a weird feeling "Awww... that's cute." she said dreamily
"Whatever, I'll be in my room if you need me." I said and headed to upstairs where my room is settled
I was about to open my door when I heard Gray mention "You're late." in a ridiculously annoying tone
"And why do you care?" I mocked
"Did I ever say I care?" he spoke back
An angry vein popped in my head as my blood starts to boil "You bastard!" I cussed "Want to go for it?"
"Tss. Dream on." he said while rolling his eyes "It's not like you could ever defeat me."
"You arrogant boxer boy!" I said "I could defeat you anytime and anywhere you want me to be."
Again, he gave me a cold shoulder and starts to walk towards my direction "I really don't get why you're my twin brother." He said as we cross each other's path. I grabbed his shoulder and forced him to face me "What's your problem now?" he asked
"Why are you always acting like this? We weren't like this before you know! We sure we fought most of the times but we never ignored each other! WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM WITH ME?!"
Gray shrugged my hand away from his shoulder and started walking again "You'll never get it Natsu." He said as his voice cracked "Ever since the princess came to this world I had already wanted to be his knight; however, you already had what she needs. I have to endure all the pain while you fill yourself with smiles and happiness." Princess? What is he talking about? Gray looked back at me as his voice became louder "WHY IS THE WORLD SO UNFAIR?!" With that last sentence he stormed off leaving me behind with even more unanswered questions and decisions in my poor head.
I went to my room and directly laid down my bed as I covered my eyes with my right arm "What do I do?" I asked myself. Gray is mad at me because of this princess that he was trying to get or whatsoever, Lisanna confessed to me because she said that she had liked me for quite a while and I really don't know how I should answer her, Lucy has someone she like and I got a feeling that she'll leave me for her true love and as for me I am quite annoyed with the thought that Lucy having a boyfriend, Gray following his princess and Lisanna and her confession!
Is it the season for love already?! How fast does the time run in this stupid and crazy world?! How come I get to suffer from this love thing?! I don't even get this; yet, I have to endure it for someone's sake! URG! THIS IS SO MESSED UP! If this goes on I will really have to beat somebody up just to calm my nerves down!
I look up the ceiling, thinking about everything that had happened today. Lucy's smile suddenly appeared right infront of me. What a wonderful smile, I wish I could make is last forever. "Lucy, I hope you'll somehow help me with this kind of thing." I told myself as I buried my head into my pillow "But for now, I guess I should decide this on my own. I know you won't be there for me forever and I shouldn't always depend on you in times of me being in trouble. So, whatever my decision is, Lucy, I hope you'll still stay by my side."
With those words coming out of my mouth I fell asleep

Finally finished writing this chapter after a long period of time! Hahahahaha I'm alive again guys! Don't worry! I'll do faster updates! SINCE SCHOOL IS FINALLY COMING TO AN END! Sorry I didn't update for too long! I'm happy for those people who still waited patiently for this fan fic! You guys are a great inspiration for me to write! Thank you very much!
