Aura sat on the edge of the nest, thinking.

I've been a cat before, and as far as I know, this is my second life. I was female both times. So I must be just female. Is there even an afterlife? Do we all just die and have another life? Only I seem to know this, maybe it's just me.

A voice interrupted her thoughts,

"Hey, Aura, you all right?"

"Yeah, I am. Thanks for asking, Raine."

Aura's hawk-tongue speech was back, but she was unsure about cat-tongue.
She went back to the clearing she saw the cats in. She remembered names, but that's it.
She spotted Fogpelt and Stormclaw hunting together.
She landed on the ground, they didn't seem as startled as Fogpelt did yesterday.

"Hello."

Aura croaked.

"Greetings."

Mewed Fogpelt.

"May I see where Mistpaw was buried?"

Fogpelt looked to his brother then nodded to Aura.
They headed to a small cave where there were flowers on patches of risen earth.
Fogpelt and Stormclaw sat by one of the patches,

"This is it."

Aura nodded and studied the patch of risen earth, she wanted to dig up the body, but she would probably seem rude.
While near the body of Mistpaw, her heart began to pound.
If she stared at the patch of earth, unblinking, yellow and white began to cloud her vision.
At first, she was startled, but then she willingly stared at it until all she saw was yellow and white.
She went deeper and deeper into this trance until her eyes shot open. All was dark. And it was hard to breathe. She began digging, with paws.
She dug her way out. She saw light again, her paws were silver. She gasped for air, she turned and saw the body of a hawk on its side.
She turned the other way and saw Fogpelt and Stormclaw standing there with wide eyes. Mistpaw climbed out, going to the body of the hawk.

"What just happened?"

Fogpelt mewed,

"I think I just changed vessels."

"What?"

"Mistpaw's body and Aura's, the hawk's, body. They're both vessels, and we're just spirits inhabiting them."

"This is insane. You should be in starclan, you died."

"Your words won't do anything to reverse this."

She stared at the body of the hawk until she entered the trance again, she shot her eyes open and she was in the body of a hawk again.
During the trance, the body of Mistpaw started to bury itself. She looked at Fogpelt and Stormclaw and they buried Mistpaw's body.
She flew back to the nest.

Aura was on her way to RiverClan's territory, ever since she went into Mistpaw's body, all memories returned to her.
She arrived at RiverClan and, as usual, Fogpelt and Stormclaw were there.

"Hey, Mistpaw."

"I'm not Mistpaw, nor am I Aura. I'm simply a spirit, in a vessel."

The hawk croaked.

Fogpelt nodded and brought them to the burial place, where Mistpaw's body lay.
The spirit entered Mistpaw's body so they could have clearer speech.

"We need to get more information. Has this happened to anybody else? Is it just me?"

"I think it was just you. There are cats in Starclan, but we just don't know why you're not among them."

Fogpelt mewed,

"The real question is should we tell others? Like medicine cats and leaders."

Meowed Stormclaw.

"No, I'd rather keep it a secret until we learn more."

Murmured Mistpaw/Aura.

"But what if the only way to learn more is through medicines cats?"

"Then when we find out that is the way we tell them."

"All right.."

The spirit entered the hawk's body again and headed back to the nest.

While on her way to visit her brothers, she stopped to hunt.
She spotted a mouse near the thunderpath that acted as a border for ShadowClan and RiverClan.
As she dove for the mouse, she heard a panicked voice shout

"Careful!"

she recognized Fogpelt's voice, she batted her wings to propel herself up,
but something was weighing her down.
She quickly became aware of what was happening and tried to tell the cat to stop.
It was too late, and the cat lunged for her throat.

No! What if I'm too far from Fogpelt and Stormclaw when I come back? What if-

Her thoughts had echoed while swimming and were cut off when
she went into the next vessel.
Her memory was now wiped.
She opened her eyes in the new place, she saw a cat licking her new kits.
The warm scent of milk mingled in the air.
