AN: I know I said this story was complete, and it is...Right after this little one. Why did I decide to add an Epilogue? Because why the hell not? Also I wanted to write something Jason related since my last Jason Todd story apparently sucked, cause no one read, or reviewed. I hope you guys like this Epilogue, and Review or don't, at this point I honestly doubt it.
Epilogue.
_Wayne Manor, Three days later._
Jason groaned as he woke up, he rubbed his eyes and rolled onto his stomach, taking a deep breathe and let it out slowly, he took in the warm morning sun that shined into the bedroom from his huge, open-slightly window. Jason did not want to get up, still exhausted and sick from his ordeal three days ago. He changed positions and rolled into his back and stared at the ceiling. He still couldn't believe he was back home, even though when it happened he was only gone for a couple of hours, Jason felt like he was gone for 100 years, he closed his eyes.
But he was home, he was back, and knowing that, Jason smiled. Suddenly his door opened, he remained silent. Quiet footsteps walked toward him, and stopped.
"...Jason? You awake?"
Dick.
Jason opened one eye, he gazed up at not only his older brother, but Tim as well. "Hmm?" he said. Dick and Tim glanced at each other and smiled.
"We have something for you."
He propped himself up on his elbows. "What is it?". Nightwing and Robin extended their arms, hands folded over in a ball. They opened them, nothing.
The two of them grinned. And pounced on top of Jason in a tickle fight. "Hahaha! D-Dick! Ti-Timmy! STOP! I c-can't breathe!"
Dick laughed, a huge smiled on his face. "Say you love us Jay-Jay!". Tim nodded, he was also smiling. "Yeah, Jason! C'mon!"
Jason gasped, and laughed as his stomach began to hurt. "N-Never!"
His brother's retort was tickling him harder. "Tim, did you hear that, bro? Jason doesn't love us!" Dick stated to the eleven year old, pulling a fake hurt face.
"What should we do?" Tim giggled.
Jason laughed louder, the ache in his stomach was growing. "A-Alright! O-Okay! I lo-ove y-you guys!"
"You mean it?" They said in unison
"YES! God dammit!"
The tickling stopped. Jason held his stomach, he panted and gasped, as sweat and tears rolled down his face. Dick whipped them away with his hand. "Nice way to start the day, isn't it Jason?" he grinned.
"You...guys...are jerks!" Jason gasped out, a smile on his face as well, despite how he felt.
"Hey Jay?" Timmy and Dick asked.
"...What?"
They both suddenly hugged him. It shocked Jason for a few minutes, but he returned the embrace.
"Happy Anniversary, Jason."
The anniversary his two brothers stated to him was the day Bruce adopted him, the day he became apart of the family. They all had one, Dick's happened a while back, seeing as he was the oldest, His of course was now, and Tim's was going to be in a three months. Jason actually loved this day more then his own birthday.
The three of them made their way down to the kitchen, where they knew they'd find Alfred hard at work, making Jason's favorite breakfast. The eighteen year old open the door and was hit with the delicious aroma of different types of food.
"Hey Alfie!" Jason greeted, sitting down at the table.
Alfred looked up at Jason, he smiled. "Hello Master Jason! Happy Anniversary!"
"Thanks!"
"How are you, sir?" The butler asked placing a plate of strawberry pancakes in front of him.
"I almost got tickled to death." Jason answered. Looking at Dick and Tim, who snickered into their drinks and fist bumped each other. He looked around the room and table, there was no newspaper on the table, nor was there a cup of coffee next to it.
"Where's Bruce, Alfred?"
Alfred hesitated for a moment. "Master Bruce I'm afraid, had to go to a meeting."
"This early?"
Alfred sighed. "It was an urgent matter, that Master Bruce could not argue out of... Though that did not stop him from trying several times."
At least he tried... Though that didn't stop Jason from feeling disappointed. He looked down at his plate, suddenly he wasn't all that hungry.
"Hey, Jason?" Dick said. He looked up at his brother. "You wanna go to the movies later?"
He was trying to distract him, to make him feel better. And it did... But only a little. "Thanks Dick, but there's nothing playing, so there's no point in us going." Jason lied. There was in fact several movies he wanted to see, but now he wasn't up for anything at the moment. He got up from the table, gave a quick "I'm going out" and left the kitchen, left the Manor. He walked into the forest behind the huge Mansion, he'd do this only when he was upset. Right now it was clear that he was, and along with the disappointment, Jason felt ridiculous.
He was being silly, getting so worked-up because Bruce wasn't going to be here to celebrate the day he became apart of this family? What was he four? It's stupid. But Jason couldn't help it. He continued to walk and tell himself how stupid he was being, until he got to a tall rock on a hill. The rock wasn't tall or big enough to where if you fell off, you'd hurt yourself, but it was tall enough to where Jason had to climb to get to the top. When he did finally, he was sweating. Still getting over his sickness this was the most exercise he's gotten since he has come back. Jason whipped away the sweat that was running down his forehead, and sat there. Trying not to think, move, feel, he tried not to do anything. As he still continued to tell himself that he was being ridiculous, a whiny child. If a normal person saw him now, they'd tell him to grow the fuck up.
But Jason, Could. Not. Help. It. He just couldn't. This day meant more to Jason then they will ever know. It was the best day of his life... Jason closed his eyes and huffed out a laugh. Funny. Red Eagle remember that the best day of his life was the day he finally got to put on the Robin suit after months of training. But that day was beaten, laughed, burned, and taken away from him. He could no longer be Robin now, not only because he was not a boy anymore, but Tim was the Boy Wonder now. And he's damn well doing a better job at it then I was... Jason thought honestly. No, what really was, was when he became apart of the Wayne family even though he was just some bad mouthing kid off the streets. And knowing that Bruce wasn't here to celebrate it, when he has been ever since Jason was nine years old, just made the eighteen year olds heart heavy.
He felt something wet on his cheeks, he groaned. Frustrated with himself. Stop acting like a child, Todd. He told himself, whipping the tears away. He took a deep breathe through his nose, the scent of pine trees and grass filled his nostrils, a light cool morning breeze went pasted him as he let it out slowly.
"Jason!" He heard someone call out. Jason looked down and saw Dick a couple of feet away from this height, his brother looked like he had shrunk. "What?" he called back
"Come back inside!" Dick yelled gesturing for Jason to follow him.
"I don't wanna!"
"Just cause Bruce isn't here doesn't mean you can't enjoy this day! When are you going to learn to stay whelmed?"
"But-!"
"Just get your butt down here!" Nightwing interrupted, turning and walking back toward the Manor.
He sighed, getting up and carefully climbing down the rock, he slowly made his way home. Opening the entrance doors and stood there. "Dick? Tim? Alfred? Where the hell are you guys at?" He called out. "In the living room Jason!" Tim voice answered back in the distance. The second Robin made his way to the living room. "Guys, I'm not really in the mood to do any kind of celebrating so how about we-" He began to say as he opened up the door. And froze. Sitting in his chair, with a smile on his face, was Bruce. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Dick grinning from ear to ear.
"C'mon, Jay! You know that's not how we do things!" Dick announced with a laugh. Jason continued to look at Bruce in disbelief, who stared back unblinking. "Your here?" He breathed out.
"Of course I'm here, son. I wouldn't miss your day, I wouldn't miss any of your guy's anniversaries for work. I know how much this day means to you."
Jason smiled. His thoughts from earlier went away in that one sentence. "Thank you..."
Bruce placed his hand on Red Eagle's shoulder, and squeezed. "Well!" Dick announced, breaking the moment. "What are we waiting for!? Let's party!" He ruffled Jason's hair. "Alfred crack out the beer!"
The butler gave the oldest Wayne boy a look of disapproval, frowning. "I will do no such thing, Master Dick. Master Jason and Tim are too young for such liquid substances!" He said with a small glare of his own.
The rest of the day, Jason spent with his family. The four Wayne boys went to the movies and saw 300: Rise of an Empire, and when they got home, they watched season one of Supernatural, which Alfred highly disapproved of, but did not show it. Afterwards they had Jason's favorite dinner and dessert: Meatloaf and chocolate cake. Then Jason destroyed Dick and Tim at Call of Duty. If he was honest, this was the most fun, the most happy he's been in a long time. He sat on the far end of the couch, Dick was in the middle and Timmy was asleep on his shoulder. Dick yawned and looked at the clock on the wall, Jason followed his gaze. 11:10 p.m.
"Well boys and girls, it's been asterous, but I'm going to bed." Nightwing said. Getting up and carefully lifting Tim into his arms. Jason stood up too, also feeling tired.
"Yeah, I think we all should get some rest." Bruce stated, getting to his feet, he turned off the TV. One by one they left the living room, walked up the stairs toward their bedrooms, Dick made his way over to Tim's room first. "Night Little Wing."
"Night, Wingnut." Jason whispered as he opened Tim's door and went inside. The former Robin made to open his when-
"Jason, come here." Bruce said as he stood outside his door. He walked over to him. "What?"
Bruce moved his head, gesturing him to come inside. "Come here." walking inside the master bedroom, Red Eagle followed him, he sat down on his father's bed and watched as Bruce took something out of his closet. Bruce sat down on the bed with him. "I needed- I wanted to give you this, Jay."
"What is it?" Jason asked confused, as he stared at the box. "Your gonna have to open it to find out." came his father's answer. Jason took of the tape, and wrapping paper, he lifted the lid, he looked from the gift in the box, to Bruce, stunned.
Bruce nodded, smiling. "Just in case you ever doubt your place in this family. This is proof that you are so much more than a street kid. Proof of just how much you've done."
Jason Todd felt tears formed in his eyes, he didn't bother to whip them away like last time, as they made their way down his face. At this moment he couldn't care less. Placing the box on the ground, he wrapped his arms around Bruce, a smiled on his face. The Batman returned the embrace in seconds, he ran a hand through his son's hair, smiling too. Bruce rocked them back and forth for a minute or two, then when Bruce saw that the eighteen year old was falling asleep, he picked Jason up with ease and place him on the bed, he got in himself and smiled at the boy he almost lost a second time. The Dark Knight pulled Jason to him, rubbing a hand on his back.
"Thank you." He whispered.
"Your such a good person, Jason. I love you so much, son."
Said boy was too tired to voice a replay, so he did what he knew spook bigger volumes, he buried his face into his dad's chest, and fell asleep. Bruce following soon afterwards. The broken boy and loving father slept, content in each other embrace.
On the floor, in an old shoe box, that The Caped Crusader forgot was there:
Lay a dust cover, still in it's box, Gray Ghost action figure...
