Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I couldn't find a good name for this chapter and I know it's short but I couldn't think of what else to write.

Sakra95: Lol. You're absolutely right on the stupid ways with which Issei gains power. My only excuse is Sigurd is a fast learner. He already has skills with a blade due to being trained as an Exorcist. His

Datan-shi. Okami: I'm glad you're enjoying it. A RosexOC Pairing isn't really seen alot. It's almost with Akeno or Rias. As for Serafall, I'll have to apologize but she won't be in this harem. Hell, I don't know who else will appear in this fic. There are too many characters in DXD.

Chapter 7

If only

"As a man it is my duty to protect you!"

Rossweisse sat uncomfortable in the bathhouse, blushing for what seemed to be the hundredth time. Those words spoken by Sigurd played in her mind over and over like a broke record.

The men of Asgard called her a good friend and a great warrior. But saying it was their duty to protect her? No man had ever said anything like that to her. Not even her own father said that.

And that nickname, Rose…

Only her grandma called her that. He abbreviated her name because he couldn't pronounce her name. Really!? Her name wasn't that hard to pronounce. Rossweisse! If he tried spelling or writing it out with syllables he could learn it. All Sigurd needed to do was say Ross then add rice but replace the R with W to say wice! Ross-wice! Rossweisse! She was going to make sure to drill that into his head during their next spell training.

"He better know how to say my full name." The Valkyrie thought with a shake of the head.

His learning of magic was impressive if she said so herself. He was fast learning. He listened carefully to each word she said while explaining how magic works and had cast each spell exactly as she said. Glad that he listened and obeyed the sad part was that those were obtained not through parenting, but training in the Sigurd Institution.

Her aqua eyes narrowed. How dare the followers of the Christian God name a building after another hero! Siegfried wasn't a Biblical hero! He was a Norse hero! Those should have named the Institution after Jonah or David, or Moses, or one of the Saints like Peter, Nicholas, or George! Rossweisse didn't want to admit it out loud, but she, like the rest of Asgard, was grateful to see that building destroyed. Along with those abominations created with Siegfried's DNA. Those clones were nothing like the real Siegfried. Siegfried was kind, brave, loyal, and loving.

Just like Sigurd.

The anger quickly faded at thinking of the red haired warrior and his kind smile. Could Sigurd be more than Thor's descendant? Was he possibly connected to the original Siegfried? No, that couldn't be!

Siegfried had white hair. Sigurd had red hair, just like Thor's. The Institution only named him Sigurd because he was raised in there. She couldn't wait for Sigurd to finally be worthy of Mjolnir and cast aside that name and be known as Thor!

As well as being carried in those strong muscular arms…

"W-why did I think of that!?" Rossweisse sputtered aloud. Her whole face going red and glowing like the nose of Rudolph the reindeer.

She shook her head wildly. Sigurd was a friend! Yes. He was just a friend.

A brave friend...

"It's my duty as a man to protect you!"

A brave man…

Rossweisse began to pant heavily.

Sigurd was so brave saving her at Jotunheim.

Her hands ran along her enormous beasts, another heavy pant left her lips. They moved down to her waist, where Sigurd's arm had been…

She was a warrior and could look after herself but in that moment. When his arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her close to him. She felt safe, like no Jouten could harm her.

"Hmmm

Her right hand scooted further south of her stomach. Closer to her-

"Rossweisse."

Rossweisse jumped! Water splashed everywhere! The silver haired warrior froze like a kid caught sticking their hand on the cookie jar! Slowly she turned her head to the speaker and who she saw was something she didn't expect to be here.

"Commander."

"Oh come now, no need for titles. We are not on duty, Rossweisse."

"Sorry...Brynhildr."

The blue haired leader of the Valkyrie's nodded a greeted to Odin's bodyguard. "What where you doing?" She asked, her voice was like a stern mother.

"Nothing that concerns you!"

Brynhildr said nothing as she made her way into the water, sighing in contact at its warmth. Odin's beard it felt good to finally relax! She stretched her limbs which caused her large bosom to bounce.

"So Rossweisse, I heard you went to Jotunheim with Sigurd."

"I did…"

"And it didn't end well?"

Rossweisse frowned, "It didn't end well because Vidar decided to have us deal with the situation while he took a nap."

"I heard. Queen Frigg was furious at him for not doing his duty."

"I was there. I've never seen the Queen so furious before."

"If you found out your older son didn't protect your youngest you would feel the same way."

"Hm."

A long silence fell between the two Valkyrie's. Neither finding anything important to say to the other. Till Rossweisse asked.

"Brynhildr, you knew Thor didn't you? What was he like?"

She had heard stories of the mighty Thor, God of Thunder, and how he protected their realm from Evil! But Brynhildr had meet him. She knew

Brynhildr smiled at the question. That man...whenever asked by the younger people about Thor she'd answer same way as she was with Rossweisse, "He was a powerful warrior. Said to be among the top ten. He could obliterate mountains, split seas, and if he used his full power, he could destroy the world. But Thor was not bloodthirsty. He did not seek battle. He wanted peace. Peace for all nine realms. He may have been able to if…"

"If Surtr hadn't attacked…"

"Or sacrificing himself for Asgard." Brynhildr whispered. "I remember feasting in the hall when hearing Heimdall's horn boom through the air. I knew at that moment we were under attack by Surtr. I donned my armor as I jumped from the window, call the Valkyrie to follow to the Bifrost. We arrived minutes before they reached Heimdall. Surtr was leading his army across the bridge, flames and smoke filling the sky. We managed to stall till Thor and the Lightning Squad arrive."

The Lightning Squad had been a group of five Asgardians who had been childhood friends with Thor and became his personal bodyguards. Unfortunately, like their best friend, all five fell in that great battle defending Asgard.

"It wasn't long till it became a battle of stalling till Baldur and Vidar returned from the treaty signing between the Elves and Dwarves. But you already know the rest, Rossweisse. They arrived to a battlefield littered with Aesir and Fire Jouten. Now years after Thor's passing a boy with Thor's power is discovered. What do you think this means?"

Rossweisse smiled. "It means the second coming of the God of Thunder."

He understood father wanting to obtain peace with the other Factions but not everyone wanted to see peace with the Christian Faction. Out of those three, only the Fallen Angels were accepted by Asgard's people. That reason being that they didn't create clones of a Nordic hero or a clone of Muspelheim king's.

Damn the Church!

Damn the Devils!

He really did not want to admit hating Devil's or the Church but he did. He hated the Church for making those clones of a hero that didn't belong in their pantheon. He hated Underworld for making that clone of the giant who caused him to lose his brother.

His hands gripped the balcony railing tightly. If only he had been their...he could have saved Thor.

"Vidar, are you brooding over not protecting your brother again?"

Vidar's eyes hardened at that question. "What do you want Loki?" The white haired God strutted out of the shadows, a mischief smile playing at his lips, "What's the matter, Vidar? Upset that I brought up Thor?"

"You're as upset as losing Thor as I am." Retorted the son of Odin. "Don't pretend to hide your pain over Thor's lose as well. We all know you wanted to be a martyr for Asgard."

"Me!? A martyr for Asgard? Oh Vidar, you hurt me…"

"Not at much as Thor's sacrifice has." The God of Vengeance muttered under his breath. "|We all mourn for the God of Thunder, Loki. But none do so more than my mother and I. We loved Thor dearly he was her son and my baby brother. If I had been at Asgard I could have saved him." Vidar replied with a sigh as the night air ran through his hair.

"How do you think I feel? I offered to give my life for Asgard in Thor's place but he said no."

"I know. Heimdall heard everything you and Thor said before my brother gave his life. I know you wanted to die for Asgard. Believing your sacrifice would make you be remembered as a hero. But really, would one heroic act change who you are at your core? You probably would have tricked Surtr like you do to Asgard. You are a God of Mischief."

"Would you prefer me as a God of Mischief then an Evil God?"

Vidar sighed. No he wouldn't. Loki, like the rest of the Aesir's, where powerful beings with the power to obliterate the world with a swipe of the hand. If he went Evil then the world would be in grave danger. It wouldn't just be him they'd face but his children as well. The World Serpent and Dragon King Jormungandr, and his older brother, the God Devouring Wolf, Fenrir!

Two mighty beings whose strength dwarfed almost everyone's. Lucky for them, Jormungandr or sometimes called Midgardsormr, was probably the laziest Dragon anyone had ever met. So all they'd have to worry about was Fenrir, but he was no push over. He was ranked one of the top ten strongest beings in existence. His fangs and claws were deadly to all and he feared no one.

No one but Vidar.

It was no secret to Asgard as how the great wolf feared the heir of Asgard. In the eleventh century after Christ, Fenrir had gone on a rampage in Midgard and Loki couldn't control him. Only Vidar went to stop him. For Vidar had a special weapon crafted by Odin to counter Fenrir. Boots. Boots that enhanced his powers to rival those of Thor! The beating that wolf received had been the talk of the century. This act of defeating Fenrir, the strongest being Asgard had and feared by no one, had solidified the people's faith in Vidar becoming their new king.

It had also been quit humiliating for Loki to watch his first born, who he boasted was the greatest in all of Asgard, get tossed around like a ragdoll. On orders from Odin, Fenrir was locked away in deepest parts of Asgard and only called upon when crises arrive in Asgard.

That power Fenrir had could have been useful to Asgard when Surtr invaded….

"Loki, be serious. What if your son's had been born years earlier. Would they have been there to protect Asgard when Surtr attacked?"

Loki sighed. Why did such a question need answering? Of course Fenrir and Midgardsormr would have protected Asgard! It was their home as well! Fenrir alone could have obliterated the Fire Giants with his mighty claws and Midgardsormr...he'd have simply slept coiled around Asgard, shielding it from all threats.

If only that had been the case. Then so many good warriors wouldn't have died that day. Thor wouldn't have become a martyr.

Finally he answered, "Of course it would have. If Surtr had attacked now he'd have no chance in penetrating Asgard's defense. Nor would the Devils."

"Devils? They don't want anything to do with us."

Loki laughed hollowly. "On the contrary they do. Now that we are allies with one of their sworn enemies. They may try attacking, Vidar. Of course those fools won't get past our defense. Our powers dwarf those of the Biblical Faction who believed themselves to be the superior race. Ha! What a joke! Fallen Angels, and especially Devils are fools to believe they are stronger than the other Factions. We all know Grigori had no choice but to ally with us because they have been losing so many subordinate crows to death, rebellion, and bad organization of leadership. Their way out of their league in thinking they can trying to use us as a means to bolster their manpower to attack the Devils. They have not one, but two of the strongest beings in the world.

"Who thankfully want are peace like us." Retorted Vidar with a frown, "Honestly Loki, where do you get these ideas from? Azazel wants peace like Sirzechs and Ajuka."

"Ha but you still hate the Devil's for making a clone of Muspelheim's king no? What those Devil's did makes it feels like Thor's sacrifice has been in vain."

"It dose…" Vidar admitted with a sigh. "Their leaders don't want war but the people do. Their trying to one up the other by obtaining someone from our faction."

"Exactly. The Church cloned the hero Siegfried, and the Devil's clone Surtr. Hahahah! If more clones of those two are created and war begins anew for Heaven and Hell. We might just have ourselves a clone wars to watch! Hahahah!"

Vidar couldn't help but chuckle at Loki's words. The Underworld made that clone of Surtr because they believe a Giant is better than a human, which was correct in a way. Giants where large hulking men with the power to split a man in half. But Siegfried managed to slay one of the Five Great Dragon kings! Something no Jotun, not even Surtr had accomplished.

"Loki, I have faith Sigurd will one day be worthy of Mjolnir and then...the God of Thunder will return."

"I'm sure he will…"

Loki may have said that, it was done with a frown. That would never happen! Sigurd would never become the next god of thunder and lightning. There was-there will be only one Thor! Mjolnir would never accept the boy as its new wielder.

Rossweisse stared at Sigurd a he sighed collapsing onto the sofa. He had just come back from Grigori and he was a mess. He looked exhausted and his clothes were ripped to pieces and covered in blood stains. What the Helheim happened to him?

"Sigurd?"

"It was a disaster…" He said, voice muffled in the pillow. "Azazel said where the rogue Fallen camp was. Instead of a peaceful talk it was Jotunheim all over again. They attacked without warning, spewing curses and threatening to skin me alive and destroy Asgard. Of course they were all talk. Their dead now, all six of them."

They were dead but it was difficult. He was alone, two had four wings, and he was still learning how to use magic. If only he knew how to fly that would have helped gain an advantage over them.

"Those stupid fools! If only they tired listening then they could have lived."

"They were fools, Sigurd." Rossweisse agreed as she began rubbing his back gently. "This problem Azazel is having will not be easy to deal with. Since you obvious had trouble today, I'm going to double down on your training. Starting tomorrow I'm going to make as much time as I can in helping you use magic."

Even thought he was facedown, Sigurd nevertheless smiled at the silver haired girl's words. He truly was grateful to have someone like Rossweisse helping him.

She was smart, serious, powerful, and pretty.

Pretty...last time he thought of a girl like that was Autumn. But she was older than him. By nine years. He was just a teen and she a woman. A woman who didn't deserve to have her throat slashed to unlock his powers…

Damn the Church!

If only he had been faster he could have saved her and she would be here with him or someone settled down in a nice cottage by the sea.

He turned his face and showed his smile to her, "Thank you, Rossweisse."

To his surprise he saw her blush. She looked adorable blushing but...why was she blushing?

Autumn told him when someone blushes they are passionate, embarrassed, angry, drunk, or...

...in love.

He hadn't done anything to embarrass or anger her. Did she really have feelings for him? They just met a week ago and barely knew one another. He admitted she was pretty but he knew next to nothing about her. What did she like? How'd she became so skilled in magic? What else did she know of the Supernatural world?

Maybe…he could ask her later.

But not tonight. Tonight he needed sleep.

End

As I said this was a short chapter and couldn't think what else to write but I do wanna know something. I forgot to mention, what do you guys think of the lore I added to last chapter and this one? Is it fitting well with? And how is the relationship between Rose and Sigurd going? Should there be more time together before adding a time skip?
