Chapter 7: Identity

Was he imagining things?!

Jack rubbed his eyes and snapped his head at the file in his hands, hoping he didn't misread the text that caught his attention.

Chocouya Kaori Kessler.

Kessler… I'll have to keep this in mind, Jack thought, pacing in the room restlessly, not a thing to be looked over… He sighed and made his way to the door, grasping the handle nervously and swinging the door out.

A shriek followed the sound of the door handle meeting contact with the wall. Mina emerged from a corner of the hallway, shaking.

"Y-y-you scared the crap out of me, Jack!" she fumed, wagging a trembling finger at him, "I come by the filing room to check-"

"Cool it, Mina," Jack muttered; waving her off, "You shouldn't be snooping around my business anyway. I'm heading back to Satellite." Snarling, the hotheaded blonde made his way out the door, not even bothering to close it.

Mina sighed with relief when she heard the roaring of motors. She made her way into the records room, only to see it unkempt and cluttered. Papers and pictures littered the floor, and spare paper clips were strewn across stacks of folders. Quite a disgusting sight, even for Mina herself. The young woman decided to tidy up the area, knowing how much pain it would be cleaning after the King's mess. What could he be looking for that was so important? He seldom stepped foot in this room, so why now?

The security system would have those answers. Its cameras were intricately detailed, and not one area of importance would be missed. She would know what that file was just by that one camera that was recently installed in the records room.

A knock on the security door was enough to wake the clown-faced Lazar up from his quick snooze. He jolted awake from the security desk and rushed to open the door. Mina was waiting outside, clutching a file of papers urgently.

"Lazar," she said, staring at him straight into his eyes, "I'd like to see the security camera of Room 13B."

The clown nodded, and led her to a wide wall full of screens. "Room 13B," he repeated, "Quite an interesting request, knowing Jack was there awhile ago…"

Mina decided not to comment on that statement. She strode to Lazar's side as he began to simulate a video footage on Room 13B.

One of the screens popped to life, showing an alarmed Jack looking at one manila file with awe.

"Zoom in on that file name, Lazar."

The clown-faced man paused the video and tapped his fingers on some of the buttons on the control panel. Instantly, the paused video was zoomed on the file in Jack's hands, which read "Chocouya Kaori Kessler" in red ink.

"Ah, a file on the recent uprising of this mysterious child," Lazar said, smiling. "Quite interesting why Jack would take upon such a curious matter in his own hands."

"Interesting is an understatement, Lazar," Mina muttered to herself, "This isn't normal. Jack would toss that file for all he would care. And it's unusual how he knew such a person existed."

"Yes, yes," Lazar chuckled, "But I say leave him alone in this matter. You don't want anyone or anything else interfering with his own little business."

Mina shuddered. As someone temperamental as Jack, he was right. Interference wasn't necessary at this point. But she made a note to herself that if the time game, then Jack and she would have a nice conversation next time they met eye contact…

"I must be going. Thank you, Lazar."

When the clown was sure that Mina was beyond earshot when she shut the doors, he grabbed a nearby phone and dialed a number hastily, his hands sweating over his gloves.

"Don't make it hard on me now you blonde helmet-head…"

A shadow zipped away from the dueling arena and near the building right next to it, where Jack had gone off to. The girl blew off her green bangs off her face and rushed near Jack's D-Wheel, where she put her hand on the motorcycle, summoning a dark, menacing purple aura, which she silently commanded to dismantle the engine completely. She also decided to dent parts of the exterior just to see how Jack would react to that. She laughed to herself and quickly ran off, shrouding herself in the same purple aura she used to destroy his D-Wheel. It would suit her, for now at least. It wouldn't be a walk in the park if she didn't have the haze around her making the girl invisible to the eyes of mortals.

She saw Jack exiting out the front door with a manila file tucked underneath his arm. She cursed and quickly snatched the file away, seeing if it would mean any importance to her or to anyone else.

"What the-" the King jumped in shock when the file was suddenly yanked out of him. He growled softly and swung at the air in hopes of finding the invisible thief.

Laughing, Choco dodged effortlessly and slapped him across the face hard, leaving him spinning and landing on the ground with an ugly red mark on his cheek. "Pitiful fool," she spat.

She quickly ran off with the file before her haze could wear off, which ended sooner than she wanted it to be. Crap.

Jack, seeing the girl and realizing this was a chance to strike, quickly got up to his feet, sprinted to the runaway, and swiped the file off her hands.

"Sorry, mate," Jack whispered, "But you're not getting this file."

Choco's cheeks turned red with fury, and the King grinned sheepishly and mischievously. He ran off to his motorbike, quickly latching his helmet on and starting the engines before the girl could catch up. She's not on wheels, he thought, smirking, there's no way she can catch up to-

His wheels suddenly began to veer off sharply to the left.

"What?!"

Jack frantically clung to the handlebars, trying to regain control of the bike. But no matter how hard he tugged on the controls, the motorcycle still drove sharply to the left, almost dismounting a petrified Jack off.

"All right, what's the big idea n-"

He quickly took a glance behind him, seeing the possessed girl following him swiftly with a green hoverboard surrounded by a deep purple aura.

"Duel Mode engaged. Auto Pilot activated."

Jack wanted to break his wheel. But knowing that the file and his life were at stake, he sighed vehemently and grabbed five cards off the top of his deck.

"If that's how you want to play, let's duel!"

The fog grew thicker, and Jack suddenly felt warmth surge through his right arm.

Leo had to see her. Her sister was in probably the most pain she has ever been in. He rubbed his eyes and jumped off the bed, rushing to Luna's room, hoping she was okay.

He crashed open the door and ran in, only to see Luna lying next to a blood-soaked bed. "L-L-Leo…"

"LUNA!" Leo grabbed a clean sheet lying near the door and rushed to his sister. "Where's the blood?"

"The…the mark…" Luna only had a few moments of consciousness, and Leo knew that. "Jack…is…"

She blacked out before she could finish her sentence.

This can't be happening… Leo quickly tried to stop the blood flow from continuing with the sheet in his hands. The mark was throbbing, and the blood continued to flow. No…I have to tell Yusei!

He couldn't make the decision whether or not to travel there by himself. Yusei probably wouldn't be home to pick up a call, and traveling there might be even more risky, especially with the blood loss.

Leo had to go there. Maybe Akiza would be able to help if Yusei wasn't there. He had to take the chance to save Luna. It was going to be hard carrying her all the way to the Satellite but…

He had to try. No way was he going to let his sister suffer or even die like this.

Carrying his limp sister, Leo ran outside, mounted his hoverboard, and took off leaving a trail of dust behind him.

xXx

Akiza couldn't stop Yusei from rushing out to find Jack and their companion. He insisted that he had a bad gist of what was going on out there, and he wanted to do something about it. What worried her was the fact that red droplets were trailing outside the door and into the garage where his bike was mounted.

Blood.

She looked at her own arm, only to see it starting to bleed too, but only for a little while. Her healing powers wouldn't let it bleed too much. Hopefully.

How were the twins doing? She wondered, standing up from the bed she was on before Yusei left. She paced in the room for awhile, trying to remember what happened before Greiger gagged her.

Blank. All blank. Frustrated, Akiza stormed outside for fresh air to cool her head. Her arm was still hurting, but she was too deep in thought to take the pain in. Regardless, nothing could wipe away what she was thinking until the wave of pain came back, leaving her sinking to the ground yet again.

Jack…Jack!

"This is bad. I need to get Yusei!" The Black Rose took off running, only to meet an exhausted Leo carrying an unconscious Luna in his arms.

"Oh my…!" Akiza quickly let Leo give Luna into her arms and together, they ran inside Yusei's residence. Leo grabbed a ball of gauze and gave it to Akiza, who applied pressure to the mark and wrapped the gauze around Luna's arm, which still began to bleed. "Leo, what happened?!"

"Don't ask me! I just went to check on her and then I see her bleeding out!" Leo cried.

"This is an emergency! You should have just waited for me! I was about to find-"

"It's what I can do! I can't just wait for…" Leo's eyes began to water.

Akiza smiled a little and gave him a pat on his back. "You did what you thought was best and took initiative," she said, sighing, "I can't blame you for that."

There was a knock on the door, and both of them jumped. "Leo, I think you should answer the door," Akiza said, kneeling next to Luna.

Leo jumped up to do so. He swung the door open and gawked when he saw a smirking Lester standing on the doorstep.
