Chapter seven; Vampires

"I had a plan. I wanted to change who I was. Give my life to someone new. Someone without the past. Without the pain. Someone alive."

Elena:

Damon dropped me and Jeremy off at home. The evening didn't went as it should have but at least I had some alone time with Damon. We managed to talk and it seemed like we have more in common than I thought. He had both this mysterious side as a sweet and gentle side, which made me eager to learn more about him.

I sat down on my bed after I finished taking of my makeup and brushing my hair. I let myself fall down and looked up to the sealing. I closed my eyes and slowly felt asleep.

I opened my eyes as I felt something shoveling into my bed next to me. I looked next to me and saw the face textures of Damon. I turned on my side and lay down face to face with him. He smiled at me as he pushed a strain of hair out of my face. "You're so beautiful" I blushed deeply and smiled at him as his eyes were searching mine. He raised himself up on his elbow and placed a hand over my hips to pull me closer.

My face was now under his and I could feel his breath on my face. He placed a gentle kiss on my lips and looked back to me. I couldn't speak but I really wanted more. I lifted my head a bit to reach for his lips.

He reacted by kissing me back into the pillow. The kiss was gentle and sweet, not rushed and it felt amazing. His lips were soft. He broke the kiss and slowly kissed me from my lips to my collarbone. "Katherine" he whispered. I moaned as he placed a kiss in my neck. Katherine?

Then my eyes flied open and I was alone in my bedroom, I felt a chill coming from my window as the air slipped out. It was a dream… A dream that couldn't suck more.

Damon:

I woke up an hour before my alarm, plenty of time to shower and get to work, not to get late this time. I got up and walked to the kitchen to get myself some coffee, not with sugar but with a little B-negative. I heard my brother's alarm upstairs. Normally he wasn't this early.

I heard his phone ringing and answering it. "So where is she?" I raised my brows, wondering whom he was talking to, and about whom. "If my brother finds out she's alive, I'm going to kill you." Okay now I was really confused, that who is alive? "No he isn't here he left for work already" Too bad baby bro, I can still here you…

"She better not comes here; I still have a death to settle with her. I also don't want my brother to change; you know how he becomes with her. He's obsessed with her." Was he talking about Elena? I drank the last bit of coffee and blood and placed it on the counter slowly.

I rushed upstairs with my vampire speed into his room. "Hello brother" I said as I walked around the room tracing my fingers over his stupid ass diaries. He hung up the phone and looked at me with a guilty face.

"Whom were you talking to?" I asked him nicely. He forced a smile on his face. "An old friend of mine" I nodded. "So who is not dead?" He looked up to me. "Look Damon, I- "He stopped talking as there was a knock on the door. I sighed in irritation. "Let it go" I said as I saw him getting nervous.

There was another knock and then I heard Elena's voice calling out to me. I rushed downstairs and opened the door. "Morning Elena" I said as I leaned against the doorpost. She looked marvelous as always, wearing a grey skinny jean with a purple top and a black jacket with some black all-stars under it.

She smiled. "Morning Damon" she said with her honey voice that she could do so well. "What you doing here?" She looked at her feet. "My brother was packing some stuff from my parents and I think he packed my schoolbooks with them." She looked up to me with a pouting lip. "So… Can I borrow your book for English?" I narrowed my eyes. "Didn't you just lose them?" She smiled guilty. "Maybe, I don't know, maybe they just ran away" she said as she kicked with her feet at the ground.

"Fine, come in" I said as I opened the door further and wait for her to pass me. She stepped inside and looked around. "Why you here so early?" She followed me as I was searching the book at the shelf. "I couldn't sleep, bad dream." I handed her the book. "That bad huh?" She smiled and nodded. "I still had to finish this weeks homework so I'll go back home and do that and I'll see you at school?" I nodded. "Yeah, sure." She smiled and walked out of the door. "Bye Damon" I smirked and waved; she smiled and closed the door behind her.

When I got upstairs my brother managed to disappear. I would talk to him later then, I still had to shower and get dressed…

Elena:

When I arrived at school a went straight into the bathroom and splashed some water in my face. I couldn't sleep much after that dream and felt really tired. My first classes went by slowly and I didn't pay attention much. After lunch we had English, something I looked the most forward to of the whole school day.

I walked in the classroom a few minutes early because I wanted to talk to Damon. He smiled and stood up behind his desk. "Elena" He said politely as I closed the door behind me. I walked up to him and leaned against his desk. "I haven't had the chance to thank you for yesterday" He frowned and looked confused. "The whole Jeremy – Taylor thing…" I blushed because I actually felt ashamed of my brother's behavior.

"It's no big deal Elena." He took a step closer to me and was standing in front of me now. I placed my hand on his. "No, it is." I said as I looked deeply into his eyes. "Elena, I would do anything to protect you or your family" I swallowed the tears in my eyes. God, why was I such a mess today? Maybe it was because I was tired also. I smiled as I looked up to him. "Thank you" I whispered.

He placed his hand gently on my chin and stroked my bottom lip with his thumb, his eyes searched for mine and one side of his mouth curled up in half a smile. "Any time" his words made me shiver as they hung in the air. His other hand he placed on my back and traced my spine slowly. This made me even more shiver. I thought about the dream, how it should have felt to kiss him again. My breath was unregularly and my heart was beating very fast.

The ball rang and I took a step back quickly. Feeling the desk pressing against my back. He gave me a small peck on my lips and sat down in his chair. "I think you should get in your seat Miss Gilbert." He said with a smirk. I traced my lips with my fingers where his lips quickly touched mine a second ago. "Don't worry Miss Gilbert; I'm sure I can get you more of that in the future." He winked and smirked at the same time. I got in my seat quickly and huffed as I looked out of the window. Such an ego.

Damon:

I smiled at myself knowing what effect I had on her. She took out her books and I noticed that it wasn't the one I gave her; maybe she found her own one? She could at least give it back then. I wondered why she hasn't done that, Elena always feels guilty about everything.

The class filled quickly, the only one whom was missing was Miss Forbes, probably running around with that big mouth of hers. I saw Elena texting Bonnie in class, maybe something was wrong? "Miss Gilbert" I raised my voice and looked at her sternly. She jumped in her seat looking quite terrified. "Miss Bennett" I said as my gaze went to hers, whom was looking quite guilty. "Texting in class is strictly forbidden, I don't want to punish you little girls, so put those phones away now" They looked at each other and nodded.

"Mister Salvatore" I looked up to Elena whom stood up from her seat. "The problem is; Caroline, Miss Forbes, was in class before and now she just disappeared, that never happens so we we're kind of worried about her, did you hear something?" I frowned. "I know nothing about it, I'm sure nothing serious is happening with her, maybe she felt sick or had a personal matter coming up, now please take your seat Miss Gilbert." Elena nodded and sat back down; I could see on her face that she wasn't persuaded about what I said to her.

After class when she was going to walk out I called Elena and Bonnie to me. They closed the door behind them. "Did you find out of Miss Forbes is okay?" I asked them. They both shook their heads and sighed at the same time. "I'm sure she's fine, you guys shouldn't worry you pretty little heads about it." I said as I leaned back against my desk. Elena didn't look much impressed; Bonnie how ever blushed, a lot. I smirked. "Have a nice day ladies" I said as I sat back in my chair with my hands behind my head still smirking at them.

' x

I walked at the parking lot of the school and heard a girl sobbing with my vampire hearing. I walked towards the trash bins in the corner and saw Caroline Forbes with her hands curled up behind her knees sitting on the ground. "Caroline, you okay?" She looked up to me, her make up everywhere from crying. "Damon" I nodded and offered her my hand. "Damon, it hurts" She was crying louder and I bend down on my knees in front of her.

"What hurts Caroline?" Her eyes full of fear she couldn't get her words straight. "My teeth, my flesh, it hurts Damon" I frowned confused. "I'm so hungry" She said. I grabbed her hands and pulled her up. "Let's go to the hospital" She shook her head. "No, the sun, it burns" We walked through a ray of sunlight and I heard skin burn. As I looked back at her I saw her skin burning and with vampire speed she shot back to the shadow.

I got angry at the possible idea about who changed her. My thoughts were all over the place as I figured out what to do. "Let's go inside the school" I said to her and she slowly nodded. She followed me inside and I took her to the bathroom. "Wash your face Caroline" She did as I told her. I needed to let her get a hold off herself.

"Caroline, who did this to you?" I asked her looking at her sternly. "I don't know" she looked around the room. Looking like she had a hard time remembering. "She looked like Elena, but she wasn't, I don't know" She said while the tears rolled over her cheeks again. I nodded, she probably was just confused. But somebody turned her on purpose seeing she already fed. "Caroline, you need to listen to me." I let her sit down on the ground trying to explain that she is now a vampire and what the main food source of a vampire is.

' xOnce it was dark outside I took her with me to the boarding house. She was quiet the whole time and I needed to figure out how to get her a ring. I could compel that Bonnie witch to do it but compelling witches is always a risk. They're fierce and a huge weapon against vampire's.

Once I reached home Stefan was writing in his diary in the chair in the living room. He looked up with a confused face. "I know your humanity is off but you seriously don't have to turn them!" I shouted at him. He threw his hands in the air. "Not guilty" I huffed. "Of course not, because there are so many vampire's in this town" Caroline's face shocked again. I think she couldn't get used to the word; vampire…

"I swear, I didn't turn her, I wouldn't come near Elena's friends, even though my humanity is off doesn't mean I'm instantly a ripper again." He frowned irritated. Okay, maybe I should reconsider the possibility that we aren't the only vampires in town anymore.

"Come on Blondie, let's find you some blood." I said as I grabbed Caroline's hand and dragged her outdoor. "I'll come with you" I frowned, why would he tag along? Like I need another charity case.

Once we reached the woods we could hear some stoner kids near the old graveyard. I told Caroline to be quiet and waited for one of them to cut of the rest. I noticed a girl standing up and she said she needed to pee. She walked past the trees near us, quite far away from the rest of them.

Elena:

I picked up my phone once I saw Jeremy's name written on it. "Sup Jer?" "Elena, can you come pick me up? Vicki was with me and she was going to give me a ride but she's suddenly gone and it's a long walk" I sighed. "Where are you?" "Near the old graveyard in the woods" I frowned into nowhere. What was he doing there? I sighed, didn't even want to know, at least he called and didn't walk home alone.
"I'll be there shortly" I hung up the phone, went downstairs, told aunt Jenna that I was picking up Jer and walked out of the house.

It was like 5-7 minutes drive and I wouldn't want to walk that either. I forbid Vicki to see Jeremy, when she does it secretively she could at least not bail on him. I parked my car where the old graveyard was and got out. I called Jeremy. "I'm here, where are you?" I heard him sigh on the other side "I have no clue, I'll try to find it" I nodded and waited.

Ten minutes past and still no sight from Jeremy. I decided to walk into the woods and search for him. It was dark so I turned on the light of my phone to cover my steps. I walked what felt like 15 minutes until I saw a sight of human's moving.

I walked towards them and came face to face with Stefan. I jumped up because he startled me. Then I noticed the red substance on the corner of his mouth. Was that blood? I felt my stomach turn and looked at the man behind him.

"Damon?" He turned to me and I saw dark coal veins under his icy blue eyes. There was also blood on his mouth. I felt my knees shake. Then I looked at the ground where I saw a girl laying. "Vicki?" I whispered, I felt the urge to puke but instead my sight got dark and I felt my knees collapsing.
