Chapter 7: Give Birth to a New Hatred

Kaelis sighed, this was perfect. This hot bath was just what the doctor ordered. She felt so at ease, despite she was probably being hunted by the best assassins and mercenaries in Commorragh. The door at the entrance to the room opened and Kaelis took a sharp intake of breath but soon relaxed.

"Lord Sythil" Kaelis said, eyes still closed

"Lady Sythil"

"Or should I say Lord Warpsnarl?"

"Call me whatever you want"

"Thank you Gladys"

Kaelis smirked as she heard her master make a 'hrm' noise. She opened her eyes and looked at her master and decided that that decision was a stupid one. She did not like the scars on his face at all.

"You are still pregnant, no?"

"Oh, that's right" Kaelis remembered, dispelling the darking she had done to conceal the bump.

"You had trouble on the way here?"

"Trouble in the form of 'The Flitting Shadows'" Kaelis answered

"Really?" Xadikib asked "Someone got them after you?"

"I think Malekith was the one who sent them after me" Kaelis concluded "They didn't try to kill me, I just know it"

"I doubt that he was able to really do it, Kaelis"

"Let's dwell on the future instead of the past, my lord"

"Fair enough, I say that we go ahead with the plan"

"I agree, it is time we show my power to Commorragh"

"Pardon me if I'm wrong, Lady Sythil, but did you just say 'my power'?" Xadikib asked

"Oh, my apologies sir, I meant our power" Kaelis quickly corrected herself

"That is the mark of the curse then?" Xadikib asked, gesturing to the mark on her neck

"Yes it is. I had to use it when I was attacked by the Scourges"

"And did it work?"

"They got away but I don't doubt it will spread fear. Malekith will start to wonder about my power soon"

Kaelis smirked then suddenly felt a twinge of pain that suddenly disappeared. Then it happened again, only this time more painful. Then she felt an unbearable pain coursing through her body. She screamed in pain and Xadikib stood up, calmly.

"I'll get my servants"

Xadikib left the room and Kaelis heard him call for the slaves above the sound of her own screams. Kaelis felt like she was going die but she knew she wasn't going to die. At least, not yet. Servants entered the room, towels and other equipment ready. Kaelis heard the door close and the servants closed in on her.

Xadikib sighed as his hand left the doorknob. The screams would probably be heard all throughout the complex and they might distract his followers. But nevertheless, it was time. Xadikib walked up to his throne room that overlooked the land in front of his base, shouting orders to his followers to start up the devices that would generate the darkness. When he got up to his throne room, he looked out at the city and chuckled; soon, this would be his. His brother would pay for his betrayal and for his scarring. He walked away from the viewing window and started chanting in an unknown language. The entire base soon filled with the mysterious dialect and it started off a reaction. Darkness started pouring out from relics that were all throughout the base. The darkness started manifesting above the base and it soon started spreading outwards, like a poison, spreading across the body of a helpless victim. Xadikib continued his chanting, despite being aware of the growling and hissing that was coming from the darkness that was before him. He soon reached the climax of the ritual and tossing his head up, he screamed out a single word. As soon as that word left his lips, the darkness above his base suddenly shot outwards, covering Commorragh and the realms attached to it. Xadikib opened his eyes only to see malevolent creatures staring back. They started to look as if they were about to attack him but suddenly he shouted a single word at them and they started cowering and flinching. Soon they stopped and bowed to him; he had bound every single one of the creatures to his control for all of eternity. Some creatures were bipeds some were quadrupeds. Some had more than five legs, some had wings. No creature looked the same; they all had a difference. He thrust his arm out and shouted;

"Go! Wreak havoc in Commorragh!"

At those words, the creatures all left the base, many speeding along the ground, some flying into the darkness, ready to dive down upon they're victims. Xadikib watched as his monstrous army headed towards The Dark City. This time, no one would be in his way.
