Sad
"Daddy, why aren't you wearing your seatbelt?" Booth heard his daughter ask from her cat seat situated behind him.
Booth glanced in the rear-view mirror to see Christine looking both worried and stern. Wow she really does have her mother's 'teacher' look down pat. "What's that Princess?"
"You're not wearing your seatbelt. Mommy says we all need to follow the law and utilize appropriate vehicle safety measures." She enunciated carefully. It was clear she was repeating something her mother had said to her more than once. Christine had recently started resisting her car seat. Brennan's way of reasoning had proven effective.
"Well Daddy is a man of action, you know. I have to be ready to quickly spring into action if something were to happen."
"But Daddy; Mommy says that we must all be safe; always. Hank has to sit in his seat facing the back of the car because he's so little. I have to sit in my seat but can face front because I'm bigger than him, but still too small for just a seatbelt. Mommy wears a seatbelt because even the strongest person cannot resist the laws of physics. So why don't you wear a seatbelt too? If something happened and you were hurt I'd be very sad." That 'teacher' look was leaning more to the worried side now.
Booth glanced at Brennan in the seat next to him and accused "You told her to say that."
"No I didn't Booth. We did discuss why we all have different restraint systems to keep us safe in the car. She is a very intelligent child; she's also very observant and very caring. She's genuinely concerned."
Booth sighed, grabbed his seatbelt and started buckling it, "You're right Princess. Daddy is putting on his seatbelt now." Christine smiled and so did Brennan.
