Injustice Gods Among Us: Dragonborn chapter 7
The story so far: Jerek and the Insurgents have freed Power Girl and Supergirl from their imprisonment now they have a better chance at defeating Superman and his Regime but what will the Man of Steel do when he learns of cousins' escape?
Now we begin;
"HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?!" an enraged voice bellowed within the fortress of solitude.
Hal Jordan minus his right hand and his wrist in a bandage stood in front of Superman along with Damian Wayne who was in a wheelchair and body cast, Killer Frost, Bane and Raven as they were given the dressing down of their lives.
"We didn't anticipate how powerful the Dragonborn would be" Raven replied "Or that he had help from the Insurgents" she said.
"That was your mistake!" Superman bellowed "You underestimated HIM!" he seethed.
Diana had been watching and even she winced at how angry Kal-El was getting and she stepped forward to put a calming hand on his shoulder and said
"High Councillor" she said respectfully "Perhaps it would be best to allow our comrades to recover from their injuries while we consider the consequences of their failure. They've suffered enough."
Superman visibly relaxed, less angry though not by much and he said
"Yes… perhaps it would be best to let our comrades recover, they have suffered enough" he muttered.
Hal and the others took this as their cue to leave the room and they quickly walked out of the room leaving Kal and Diana alone.
"I was a fool to think that Hal and the others could defeat Dragonborn and keep my cousins imprisoned" the High Councillor muttered darkly as he gripped the table with his hands leaving deep impressions on the metal.
"Hal has always been cocky and arrogant" Diana said soothingly "As is Damian and Bane" she added.
"And now we have lost one of our strongest and most loyal fighters" Kal said referring to Solomon Grundy who had been decapitated by the Dragonborn in battle.
"We have other fighters, High Councillor" Diana replied "And this time we shall prepare them for the next time any of them face the Dragonborn" she said.
"No" Superman said and Wonder Woman looked at him in askance.
"We need someone who is more capable of hunting the Dragonborn down and be able to face and kill him" he said.
"Who do you mean?" Diana asked curiously.
"You'll see" Kal replied as he tapped a few buttons on the control panel of the supercomputer in the Fortress.
In deep space, on the planet Rimbor.
In a bar where various alien patrons sat either drinking away their worries or discussing other matters, a tall muscular white skinned man with black markings and red eyes sat at a table guzzling vast amounts of alien alcohol.
"Hey bartender!" the giant white skinned man said to a small green skinned alien "Keep 'em comin'!" he slurred.
"Don't you think you've had enough?" the bartender asked.
"What do you care, ya geek?!" the white skinned man snarled, his red eyes flashing dangerously "I said keep 'em comin'!"
"Okay, okay! Just don't shoot the place up like last time!" the bartender pleaded nervously as he hurriedly filled another large mug of alcohol and passed it to the white skinned giant who skulled it down in one go and the bartender passed him another mug.
Suddenly there was a beeping in the white skinned giant's jacket pocket and the giant took notice and pulled out a small device, pressed a button and said
"Name's Lobo, who am I offing and what are ya offering?" the giant asked.
"Lobo, it's Superman here" the voice said and Lobo's face contorted into rage and he growled
"What do you want ya bastich?!" he roared.
"I'm not looking for a fight, Lobo" Superman's voice replied calmly "I'm merely asking for the Main Man's help in capturing a certain individual who's been giving me trouble" he said.
"Oh really?" Lobo asked sarcastically "Who's so bad that Superman comes asking the Main Man for help?" he asked.
"I'm sending the information to you right now, as well as a down payment in good faith" Superman replied "Does my offer entice you yet, Mr Lobo?" he asked.
"Awright, ya got a deal" Lobo replied "I'll bring this bastich to ya on a silver platter but I'm gonna need something personal of this guy's so I can find him" he said.
"I have a scent sample waiting for you when you get to Earth, don't disappoint me Lobo!" Superman said before cutting off the link.
"Hmph, just 'cause that bastich's ruling that backwater planet he calls home now, doesn't mean he's the boss of me" Lobo muttered as he guzzled down his alcohol "Still a contract is a contract and the Main Man is his Word!" he said as he left the bar and whistled for his beloved space-hog.
"Time to see what this geek looks like" the Last Czarnian muttered as he pulled out his battered computer to see what the target looked like.
"Geez this bastich looks stupid!" Lobo muttered as he looked at the picture of the target wearing armour that would be ancient by most civilisations' standards even by Earth's "What is he? Some kinda geek who plays larp too much?" Lobo asked himself.
"Doesn't matter" the Main Man said to himself "A contract is a contract!"
And with that said, Lobo then kick-started his space-hog and sped off into the void of space and sped towards Earth where his contract would be waiting.
Back on Earth in the Fortress of Solitude.
"Clark? Are you sure this is wise? Asking Lobo to track down the Dragonborn?" Diana asked.
"Lobo's the only one I know who'll be able to stand a chance in defeating and bringing in the Dovahkiin" Superman replied.
"But Lobo's proven in the past that he is unstable and can be hazardous to everyone around him!" Diana reasoned.
"Don't worry about it" the Man of Steel assured her "If anything I can always just disintegrate Lobo into a pile of ash after the job's done" he said.
"If you say so, High Councillor" Diana replied as she left the room to attend to other duties.
In the Insurgency headquarters.
"I can't believe you actually did it!" Helena exclaimed "You actually rescued Supergirl and Power Girl!" she said.
"All in a day's work" Jerek replied as he cleaned his sword casually before sheathing it.
"Then there's the fact that you killed Solomon Grundy by cutting his head off, left Nightwing broken and cut Hal Jordan's hand clean off" Slade pointed out "Would you call that a day's work?" he asked.
"It wasn't hard" Jerek replied "I've had tougher assignments with the Companions, the Blades and the Dawnguard" he said.
"The Companions, the Blades and the Dawnguard?" Mari repeated "Who are they?" she asked
"The Companions are an order of warriors who show up to solve problems if the coin is good enough, the Blades are an ancient order of dragon slayers and the Dawnguard are an order of vampire hunters" Jerek replied.
"What sort of assignments did you do with them?" Shiva asked.
"Rescuing hostages from bandits, slaying dragons, pest extermination, stopping vampires from darkening the sun that sort of thing" Jerek simply said.
"Were any of them good fighters?" Slade asked interested in learning about other warriors or possibly competition.
"The Companions had some of the best warriors in Skyrim such as the twins Vilkas and Farkas who were masters of using great-weapons and heavy armour, then there was Athis a Dark Elf who was good with a blade, Njada Stonearm was an expert brawler and Aela the Huntress was an expert archer who gave me the beast blood" Jerek replied.
"Were all the Companions werewolves like you?" Dinah asked.
"No" Jerek said "It was only me, Aela, the twins, Skjor and Kodlak who bore the beast blood" he explained.
"It must've been interesting to run with a literal wolf pack" Helena remarked with a chuckle as she remembered a film she once saw that used the term wolf pack. (A/N: Hangover reference in case you didn't get that).
"It wasn't always" Jerek replied "Skjor was killed by werewolf hunters known as the Silver Hand and so was Kodlak who was our leader" he said "And Kodlak was trying to rid himself of the beast blood so that he would enter Sovngarde" he added.
"Sovngarde?" Karen repeated "Is that some kind of afterlife in your world?" she asked.
"Aye and I've been there when I faced Alduin the World-Eater" Jerek replied.
"So why was Kodlak trying to cure himself so he could enter Sovngarde?" Dinah asked.
"Because bearing the beast blood means you are marked as one of Hircine's creations and if you die, you are forever tied to his Hunting Grounds" Jerek answered "For some they wish nothing more than to hunt prey with their master but Kodlak desired the companionship and glory of Sovngarde" he said.
"What about you?" Shiva asked "Don't you want to know the glory of your world's afterlife?"
"Perhaps when I reach my twilight years I will cure myself" Jerek replied "But for now I will take the glories of the hunt" he said.
"So what's next?" the Dragonborn then asked Bruce.
"I have someone who wants to see you tomorrow" the Dark Knight replied "But for now get some rest, you've earned it" he said.
"I could do with some rest right now" Jerek muttered as he headed towards his room and lay on his bed to get some sleep.
The next morning
Jerek awoke from his sleep and slowly stretched his muscles before getting out of bed and putting on his armour and weapons.
After exiting his room, Jerek went to the main area of the hideout and found Bruce talking with another man. He was bald and wearing some kind of large bulky armour that made him taller than anyone in the room
"Dragonborn" Bruce greeted "I'd like you to meet our friend, Lex Luthor" he said.
The bald man turned his head to regard Jerek and said "Hello Mr Dragonborn" he greeted politely "My name is Lex Luthor, I secretly help the Insurgency" he said as he stuck out one large metal hand to shake.
"You secretly help the Insurgency?" Jerek asked as he shook hands with Lex "Does that mean you are a spy within the Regime?" he asked.
"Yes, as a matter of fact I am part of Superman's Regime" Lex replied "But I secretly fund and supply Bruce's Insurgency in an effort to bring down the Regime" he said.
"And who's to say that you aren't a double agent?" Jerek asked suspiciously.
"A clever one I see" Lex remarked good naturedly "Rest assured I have no desire to turn the Insurgency in to Superman's hands, otherwise I would've done it long ago" he said solemnly.
"Good answer" Jerek muttered and he turned his head to look at Bruce and asked
"So what's the mission today?" he asked.
Bruce activated his computer which brought up a file of a middle-aged man working in a laboratory.
"This is Doctor Will Magnus" Bruce said "A genius in a variety of fields such as robotics, metallurgy, engineering and many other fields" he added.
"Is he on the Regime's payroll?" Jerek asked.
"No" Lex replied "He's staunchly refused to make weapons for any military or world power and even shut his lab down and destroyed his research so that no one will use his work for war" he said.
"But the Regime didn't like that?" Jerek asked.
"They didn't" Bruce replied "So far, the Regime hasn't made any moves to capture Doctor Magnus and force him to make weapons for them, but we need to bring him to the safety of our headquarters before the Regime decide to capture him and force him to make weapons" he said.
"So you can convince him to make weapons for you?" Jerek asked accusingly.
"I'm not convincing him to make weapons for us" Bruce replied.
"But it's what you want isn't it?" Jerek retorted, Bruce sighed and stayed silent.
"Alright, I'll bring Doctor Magnus to safety" Jerek said after a moment's silence "But if you want him to make weapons, at least take no for an answer when he refuses to make them for you" he added.
"I'll be sure to remember that" Bruce replied.
"Will I be going alone?" Jerek then asked.
"For this mission, you will be" Bruce replied "You deploy in five minutes, get yourself ready" he ordered.
"Already am" Jerek replied as he walked over to the Zeta-tube teleporter.
"Try and be discrete on this mission" Bruce said.
"No promises" Jerek replied as he entered the Zeta-tube.
"Dragonborn" Bruce said and Jerek turned to look at him and caught a small object in his hands.
"What's this?" Jerek asked as he looked at the little object.
"It's a two-way communicator" Bruce replied "Just put it in your ear and I'll be able to talk to you and you'll be able to talk to me" he said "Now get going!"
Jerek nodded and disappeared into the Zeta-tube portal.
In Boston Massachusetts.
Jerek then appeared in a dark alleyway and looked around, Jerek then decided to put the two-way communicator in his ear so that he would maintain contact with the Batman.
"Batman, this is Dragonborn, can you hear me?" Jerek asked out loud.
"I can hear you" Bruce's voice replied "Where are you right now?"
"I'm in a dark alleyway, where is Doctor Magnus's lab?" Jerek asked.
"It should be nearby, you just have to avoid any confrontations with any Regime soldiers you meet" Bruce replied.
"I'll make sure to do that" Jerek said as he set off down the darkened alley.
After half an hour of running down back alleys and avoiding Regime patrols, Jerek had reached a large building.
"Batman, I've found the lab" Jerek then said "There doesn't appear to be any Regime patrols nearby, what should I do?" he asked.
"Approach with caution, we don't know if the Regime has set up any surveillance systems to watch the place" Bruce replied.
Jerek slowly walked towards the building and opened the gate and entered the premise. The entire place seemed deserted as the Dragonborn made his way into the building.
After walking down some darkened hallways, Jerek then came to a door which had a hand painted sign scrawled across it saying 'No humans allowed! Except Will'
Hesitantly pushing the door open, Jerek walked into a dark room and whispered
"Doctor Magnus? Are you here?" he whispered.
"Who's there?" a slurred voice asked from the darkness, Jerek cast the candlelight spell which illuminated the room and sitting at a wooden desk which had many empty bottles on it was a man wearing a dirty lab coat who looked as though he hadn't had any sleep.
"Doctor Magnus I presume?" Jerek asked.
"Who wants to know?" the man asked belligerently as he poured himself another glass of amber coloured liquid into a shot glass and downed it in one go.
"My name is Jerek Stormgard" the Dragonborn said introducing himself "I came to seek your help" he added.
"If you're with those Regime bastards, I told them that I won't let them use my work for war!" the man slurred angrily and he tried to stand up but fell back on his chair with a thump.
"I'm not with Superman's Regime" Jerek replied calmly "I serve the Insurgency" he said.
"Does it matter?" Doc Magnus asked "Both sides want to use my creations for their stupid war" he said philosophically as he took another drink.
"How much have you had to drink?" Jerek asked.
"What are you? A cop?" Magnus said as he drank yet another shot of alcohol.
"No, but I can tell you've had enough to last ten lifetimes" Jerek replied.
"What do you care?" Magnus asked "You're just here to try and convince me to make weapons for the Regime" he said.
"I'm not with the Regime" Jerek corrected "And I said to Batman that we shouldn't force you to make weapons for us" he said.
"But it's what you want isn't it?" Magnus asked rhetorically "It's always the same with both sides, each one wants a bigger stick than the other" he said cynically.
"That's true" Jerek said thoughtfully "Each side does want a bigger stick than the other" he added.
"Then why did you come here if you don't want to convince me to make weapons?" Magnus asked as he looked at the Dragonborn with bloodshot eyes.
"I came to bring you to safety" Jerek replied "Sooner or later the Regime won't take no for answer and take you and your creations by force" he said.
"I suppose you're right" Magnus muttered "But I don't want my creations to be used for war, I don't want to be remembered as an arms dealer!" he said.
"What are your creations if you don't mind me asking?" Jerek asked.
"I suppose I could show you" Magnus replied and he slowly stood up, swaying slightly evidence of his heavy drinking and Jerek had to hold him up to keep him steady. Magnus then lead the Dragonborn to another room where various pieces of equipment were scattered about.
"I founded this laboratory to make life better for humanity" the scientist explained "My greatest success were the Metal Men" he said.
"Metal Men?" Jerek repeated "As in men made of metal?" he asked.
"If you want to call them that" Magnus replied as he flipped on some light switches "My theory was that each metal had personality traits and were sentient" he said "Nearly everyone laughed at me when I made my theory" he added as he remembered the ridicule he faced from fellow scientists.
"But your theory was a success?" Jerek asked.
"It was" Magnus replied with a smile "I used six metals and placed devices I call responsometers within them that gave the metals… 'life' as it were" he said.
"What metals did you use?" Jerek asked.
"Gold, platinum, iron, lead, mercury and tin" Magnus replied.
"And what were their personalities?" Jerek asked.
"Gold was the leader, an idealist and brave. Iron was the strongman, loyal and strong. Platinum was something of a flirt but kind and caring. Lead was a little on the slow side, but had a gentle soul. Mercury was something of a loudmouth but he had his heart in the right place and Tin was a little under confident and unsure of himself but had a hero's heart" Magnus replied with a nostalgic smile.
"They sound like good people" Jerek said.
"They were" Magnus replied "They were better than most people I knew and I was proud to be their creator and friend" he said.
"What were their purposes?" Jerek then asked.
"I designed them to go into situations and areas where it was too dangerous for humans to go into, such as shutting down leaking nuclear reactors or cleaning up toxic areas" Magnus replied "I would never have allowed them to be used for war or bloodshed" he said "You could say their sole purpose was to save everyone they can, not kill them" he added.
"I think that is what Batman would want them to do" Jerek said "Batman would want the Metal Men to save everyone they can" he added.
"I don't want them to be used for war" Magnus replied forlornly.
"What would the Metal Men want?" Jerek asked.
This made Magnus pause for a moment before he looked at Jerek and said
"To save everyone they can" he said.
"Then let them do their jobs" the Dovahkiin said. Magnus nodded and began to get to work.
"I haven't reactivated the Metal Men in a long time" Magnus said as he activated the machinery which hummed and whirred into life.
"I'm sure they'll appreciate being reactivated after so long" Jerek said "How did you make the Metal Men?" he asked.
"I placed the responsometers into vats of molten metal and the responsometers would then bond with and activated the metals they were placed in" Magnus replied "Why so curious?" he asked.
"I was just wondering if you would be interested in creating some new Metal Men" Jerek replied.
"With what kind of metals?" Magnus asked.
"Metals from my world" Jerek replied and he then summoned his personal dremora servant from Oblivion.
"Good heavens!" Magnus exclaimed as he gazed upon the dremora servant.
"Greetings master" the dremora said to Jerek "What do you wish me to carry?" he asked.
"I've come to relieve you of some things" Jerek replied "I'll need all my ingots of ebony, orichalum, quicksilver and Dwemer metal that you have with you" he said to the dremora servant.
"Of course sir" the dremora replied and he waved his hands and in front of Jerek were large piles of metal ingots "Is that everything sir?" the dremora then asked.
"No that's everything" Jerek replied "You may go now" he said and the dremora then disappeared in a flash of purple flame.
"What on earth was that thing?" Magnus asked.
"A dremora" Jerek replied "An inhabitant of the realm of Oblivion" he said "Now here are the metals of my world, can you use these?" he asked.
"I've never seen metals like these before" Magnus said as he picked up and examined an ebony ingot.
"Can you use them?" Jerek asked.
"I don't see why not" Magnus replied "Just let me reactivate my Metal Men first" he said and flipped some levers and servo arms holding fist sized orbs with shifting centres were placed into vats of molten metals.
There was a crackle of electricity and sparks flew and in a flash of light in which Jerek had to cover his eyes. Soon the light subsided and Jerek then heard a voice
"Hiya Doc!"
Jerek then uncovered his eyes to see six people of different colours and sizes stepping out of the vats of molten metals.
"Hello Gold" Magnus greeted the golden man.
"H-h-hi Doc!" a smaller thinner greenish silver man with a long nose greeted.
"Good to see you again, Tin" Magnus replied kindly to the little man.
"Sup Doc" a large muscular dark blue man greeted as he stretched his arms.
"Hello Iron" Magnus replied.
"Hello… Doc" a bulkier grey man greeted.
"Hello Lead, welcome back" Magnus replied.
"Why did ya wake me up?" a tall gangly red man complained "I was having a good dream" he said.
"I had a good reason Mercury" Magnus replied.
"Hello Will, it's good to see you again" a silver statuesque woman said as she stepped out of her vat.
"Hello Platinum, it's good to see you again" Magnus replied.
Jerek couldn't help but stare at the Metal Men; they certainly seemed to have minds of their own and acted like real people, he wondered what they were capable of.
"Who's that guy?" Mercury asked as he saw Jerek watching them.
"He's cute!" Platinum exclaimed as she walked over to Jerek and was in his personal space.
"What's that he's wearing do ya think?" Gold asked.
"Iron armour" Iron replied "He's got good taste" he said.
"Is he s-s-safe?" Tin asked nervously.
"I don't trust him!" Mercury muttered.
"Ease up Mercury, I'll decide if we can trust him" Gold said.
"Everyone stand back and let our new friend speak" Magnus ordered, the Metal Men backed away although Platinum was a little reluctant to move back.
"So who are you?" Gold then asked the Dovahkiin.
"My name is Jerek Stormgard" Jerek replied "I also go by the title Dragonborn if you wish to use it" he said.
"It sounds so… manly!" Platinum gushed as she held her hands to her cheeks.
"Sounds weird" Mercury muttered.
"W-w-were you born from a dragon, Mister Stormgard sir?" Tin asked.
"Nothing like that" Jerek replied "I am called Dragonborn because of my ability to slay dragons and devours their souls" he explained.
"Dragons exist?" Iron asked "I thought they were just a myth" he said "Are we gonna slay one?" he asked.
"In my world dragons exist and you're not going to slay any dragons in the foreseeable future" Jerek replied "I asked your creator to reactivate you all because I need your help" he said.
"Help to do what?" Platinum asked.
"To save this world from the Regime" Jerek replied.
"Regime? What's that?" Lead asked.
"Basically Superman has become a tyrant and oppresses humanity, killing anyone who refuses to obey his laws" Jerek replied "Batman has formed an Insurgency to fight back and I would like your help in fighting Superman's Regime" he said.
"D-d-d-do we have to kill p-p-people?" Tin asked nervously.
"I'm not asking any of you to kill anyone" Jerek replied "And whilst my methods of dealing with Superman and his enforcers would be considered extreme, inhumane and cruel, the Regime has proven to me that they aren't willing to show mercy to anyone who stands against them" he said.
"So what are you asking us to do?" Gold asked.
"To do your duty" Jerek replied "To save as many people as you can" he said.
"Hey, what are these things?" Mercury asked as he stretched over to look at the piles of Nirnian metals.
"Something I thought might be useful to help us all with" Jerek replied "Doctor Magnus, shall we get started?" he asked.
"Of course" Magnus replied "Put each of the metals into a vat" he said.
Jerek then placed the metals into different vats and allowed the machines to melt the metals into liquid form.
"What next?" Jerek then asked as the metals from his world were now molten.
"Now we place these responsometers into the molten metals and see what happens" Magnus replied as some servo arms positioned themselves in front of the vats and placed a responsometer into each vat.
Soon there were more bright flashes of light and crackles of electricity and soon stepping out of the vats of the molten Nirnian metals four new Metal Men.
The first new Metal Man was tall and coloured greenish grey and he looked like an orc wearing orcish armour. The second Metal Man was female and coloured silvery blue and had wing like protrusions on her ears. The third Metal man was male and coloured golden bronze and looked like a man wearing dwarvish armour. The last metal man was female and coloured midnight black and had a reserved expression.
"So these are the new Metal men?" Gold asked as he looked at the Orcish Metal Man who bared his tusks and growled
"And who are you?" he asked in a guttural voice that reminded Jerek of the voice of Malacath the Daedra Prince and God-king of Orcs.
"Name's Gold" Gold replied "And I'm your leader" he said.
"You don't look like no leader" the Metal Orc muttered "I'm Orichalum and I'm tougher than anyone here!" he declared.
"Stand down Orichalum" the silver-blue woman ordered with a commanding tone.
"Why should I listen to you Quicksilver?" Orichalum challenged.
"Enough" the golden bronze man said in a monotone voice "There is no need to fight amongst ourselves" he added.
"Who are you guys?" Iron asked.
"Our apologies" Quicksilver said "My name is Quicksilver, my comrades are Orichalum, Dwemer and Ebony, we're the new additions to your team" she added.
"What kind of metals are you?" Platinum asked.
"I am Ebony, a dark metal that can be used to make very strong weapons and even create Daedric weapons and armour" Ebony replied with a formal reserved manner.
"Never heard of it" Mercury said.
"I am Quicksilver" Quicksilver said "But I am no relation to the metal mercury" she added.
"I am Dwemer, a metal created by the dwarves of Tamriel before they disappeared" Dwemer said introducing himself.
"And I'm Orichalum" the Metal Orc said "And as of now I'm taking over leadership of this group!" he declared.
"No. You're not, Orichalum" Quicksilver stated coldly to the Metal Orc who stood in front of her trying to intimidate her with his size.
"And I suppose you have something to say about that, huh?" he asked.
"Enough" Dwemer said "Orichalum, stand down" he ordered.
"And why should I listen you milkdrinker?" Orichalum growled at Dwemer who merely raised a hand and his palm opened and a bolt of electricity burst forth and hit Orichalum square in the chest and sent him flying back with a thud into a wall leaving a large impression.
"That's why" Dwemer said, Orichalum slowly got up and growled menacingly before Jerek stepped in front of him.
"And who are you supposed to be meatbag?" Orichalum asked as he looked down at Jerek who replied
"I'm the one responsible for mining the very metal that makes you" he said "And unless you want to be deactivated, I suggest you do as you're told" he added.
"What are you gonna do? Cry?" Orichalum mocked, Jerek swiftly swung his sword and cut a neat line across Orichalum's chest; the Metal Orc gave a cry of shock and he looked at his 'wounded' chest before looking at the Dragonborn who merely said
"I'm going to do that" he said "And if you refuse to follow my orders, I will rip out your responsometer and never reactivate you ever again, are we clear?" he asked.
"Perfectly clear" Orichalum replied stunned and he then stood in line.
"He's so… commanding!" Platinum gushed who had an almost love-struck look on her face.
"Freeze! Put your hands in the air!" a voice ordered and everyone then saw a squad of Regime soldiers pointing their guns at them.
"Who are these losers?!" Mercury asked.
"Footsoldiers of the Regime!" Jerek said.
"Who?!" Gold asked.
"Bad men who want to take you all away to use as weapons!" Magnus explained.
"Metal Men! Defensive positions!" Gold ordered and Lead and Iron formed a barrier between them and the Regime soldiers and the Regime soldiers began firing upon them.
"Dwemer, can you create a barrier?" Quicksilver asked the bronze metal man who nodded and formed an elaborate shield.
"Done" Dwemer then said.
"Now fire a bolt of lightning at them" Quicksilver then ordered "But don't kill them!" she added.
Dwemer then blasted bolts of electricity at the regime soldiers who were then knocked unconscious from the voltage of the electrical blasts though some soldiers were still standing.
"Metal Men, attack!" Gold ordered and the Metal Men then charged forward and what courage the Regime soldiers had left failed them and they fled the area.
"Good work Metal Men!" Magnus congratulated.
"Come, we must go to the Insurgency before the Regime sends in their enforcers" Jerek said and he then lead the way out of the building and back to the Insurgency.
In the Insurgency headquarters…
The Zeta-tube hummed to life and stepping out of the Zeta-tube was the Dragonborn along with Magnus and the Metal Men.
Bruce was there to greet them.
"Dragonborn" he greeted "I see you brought Doctor Magnus here alive" he said.
"Indeed" Jerek replied "I even helped Doctor Magnus create some new Metal Men" he said as he gestured towards Orichalum, Quicksilver, Ebony and Dwemer.
"Greetings" Ebony said formally.
Bruce raised an eyebrow and looked at Jerek who shrugged in reply.
Bruce then sighed and spoke
"Jerek, I've just been in contact with Luthor" he said.
"Has something happened?" Jerek asked.
"In a way yes" Bruce replied and be brought up a video showing a large pale skinned man with long black hair, red eyes and black markings on his face.
"Is that Solomon Grundy reborn?" Jerek asked.
"No" Bruce responded "His name's Lobo. He's an intergalactic bounty hunter for hire and video footage shows him entering Earth's atmosphere and meeting up with Superman" he said.
"To what purpose?" Jerek asked.
"What else? To hunt down the Insurgency" Bruce replied.
"What are Lobo's powers?" Jerek asked.
"Lobo has vast strength, endurance, a keen sense of smell to track his targets and he has an accelerated healing factor that allows to him to heal from just about any wound and even regenerate from a drop of blood" Bruce replied.
"Then I'd better find a way to turn off his healing factor" Jerek replied "Either that, or burn him to ashes" he added.
"Then you'd better be cautious" Bruce warned "Lobo is a deadly fighter and given the fact that he can't really die, you'll have a fight on your hands" he said.
"Don't worry about me" Jerek said reassuringly "I've fought trolls who can regenerate from wounds, Lobo shouldn't be any different" he added.
Bruce nodded slightly and looked at Magnus and spoke to him
"Doctor Magnus, I'll show you and your Metal Men to your quarters and get you settled in" he said to the scientist.
"Yes, thank you that is most kind of you" Magnus replied as Bruce led him and the Metal Men down the hallway to the sleeping quarters.
Jerek then looked at the computer screen footage of Lobo talking with Superman and walked away, silently planning on how to defeat the Main Man.
To be continued…
