Spinnie romance 7

Authors note: So it seems like I'm always saying to myself (and you guys) "This is the last chapter for Spinnie Romance." Or "Only one more cheater left of this story." yet I always seem to come up with more ideas to add on so I've decided to stop telling you guys it's the last chapter because in actually fact...it's probably not. All the ages from the last chapter still apply here. Enjoy!

"Spike?" Winnie whispers in Spike's ear, moving closer to him.

"Your feet are freezing!" Spike mutters into the pillow, pushing Winnie's feet away with his, still half asleep.

"Spike? Spike! Are you awake?" She hisses shaking his shoulder.

"I am now." He mutters, turning to face Winnie. "What's wrong? What's going on?"

"Will you hold me?" She whispers, tears pooling in her eyes.

"Yeah, yeah of course." Spike says wrapping his arm around his wife's waist and pulling her closer to him.

"What's wrong?" He whispers into her hair.

"I just had a nightmare, that's all. Go back to sleep, I'm fine. Sorry for waking you."

"Win, don't ever apologise for something like that ok? I'm here for you no matter what time it is."

"Thank you." Winnie whispers back

"Do you want to talk about it?" Spike asks and Winnie shakes her head.

"Maybe in the morning."

"You ready to talk?" Spike asks Winnie in the morning. She shakes her head and motions to the children in reply. "We can go upstairs and talk if you want. It'll help Win, trust me."

"Not now Spike, please. Later ok?" Winnie replies pressing a light kiss to Spikes cheek and heading into the living room to sit with the children.

"We need to talk Win." Spike says as soon as the children have gone to bed. "We've put this off for a whole day, just tell me what it was about, I might be able to help."

"It's nothing." Winnie replies walking past Spike and out onto the decking.

"It's not nothing Win, you were really upset. What happened in that nightmare that scared you?" Spike asks, following her outside.

"Ben told me that he wants to be a police officer the other day and then Mike said that he did too and it just got me thinking that's all."

"Thinking about what exactly?"

"I don't know. I guess I'm just...scared. I've seen what this job can do to people and it's scary." Winnie says, turning and wrapping her arms around Spike's waist, resting her head on his chest.

"So your nightmare was about the boys becoming police officers?" Spike asks and Winnie shakes her head.

"Not exactly." She whispers, hesitating before continuing. "It was the day of Jules and Sam's wedding except it was Sadie getting married, the ageing was all a bit off, all the children seemed the same sort of age. After the wedding team one had a shift, but this time it was made up of Sadie, Dean, Clark, Izzy and our kids but I was still a dispatcher. I don't know, it was weird. Anyway there was the bomb call and everything went down almost exactly as it odd all those years ago."

"So it was a nightmare about the bombings but with our children involved instead?" Spike clarifies and Winnie nods.

"Stupid right?"

"Not stupid. Not stupid at all Win. That day was traumatic for all of us and it's going to stick with us forever. But I promise you Win, nothing is going to happen to our babies, not under my watch. We've still got plenty of time before the children even have to start thinking properly about their careers. We've still got time to change their minds." Spike replies and Winnie chuckles.

"You think our stubborn little babies will let us change their minds?" Winnie asks and Spike shakes his head.

"It's worth a shot though."

*A few months later*

"Happy Father's Day daddy!" Ben, Maddie, Mike, Laya and Anna all shout at Spike before climbing up onto the bed on top of him.

"Too early." Spike mumbles jokingly.

"No daddy! Presents!" Anna insists tugging on Spike's arm.

"Presents?" Spike exclaims, sitting up quickly causing the five children to fall onto the bed beside him. "Did someone mention presents?" He asks pulling Anna on to his lap and tickling her.

"Stop daddy stop!" She shrieks between giggles.

"Daddy stop or no presents!" Laya demands in a stern voice. Spike sits up straight and nods at his daughter.

"Yes ma'am." He says giving her a mock salute.

"Silly daddy!" Mike exclaims throwing his arms around his dad's neck.

"Mama where did you put daddy's presents?" Maddie asks as Winnie walks into the room with Toby (the dog) hot on her heels.

"Under the bed." Winnie replies, climbing into bed beside Spike and pulling Anna onto her lap as Maddie jumps off the bed in search of the presents.

"I've found them!" She shouts, pulling the presents out and giving Toby a quick kiss.

"Here, let me lift them on to the bed for you." Winnie offers, lifting the presents onto the bed and placing them on Spike's lap.

"Open mine first daddy!" Maddie exclaims.

"Which one is it sweetheart?" Spike asks and Maddie points to the biggest present. "Wow! It's great Mads, I love it!" Spike says when he rips off the wrapping paper to find a big photo frame with 'Family' written across the middle and pictures of the seven of them around it.

"Mama had to help me a bit but I chose it." Maddie explains

"It's awesome, thank you."

"Where are you going to put it?" Ben asks

"On the wall opposite the bed." Spike replies, moving the frame down the bed so he has more room. "Which one next?"

"Mine!" Ben says passing Spike two small boxes.

"Lego!" Spike says, laughing as he unwraps the boxes.

"It's for us to build together." Ben explains. "One is a robot, like Babycakes and the other one is a police car."

"That's gonna be fun to make, you wanna start it later?" Spike asks and Ben nods enthusiastically.

"Me too!" Mike pipes up and Ben nods.

"You too Mikey."

"Daddy, you open my present next?" Mike asks and Spike nods.

"Which one is it buddy?" He asks and Mike hands him a square box.

"Wow!" Spike exclaims when he opens the box. Inside the box is a mug with 'Best daddy ever!' Written across the middle and pictures of Spike with Winnie, team one and each of the children.

"We were a bit worried that it wouldn't arrive on time but luckily it came yesterday." Winnie explains, shifting Anna, who was falling asleep again, into a more comfortable position on her lap.

"It's awesome, thank you. I think maybe I should open Anna's next, it looks like she's going to fall asleep before I do otherwise." At the sound of her name, Anna sits up and grins sleepily at her dad. "Which one is yours baby?" He asks and she points to an envelope.

"Do you wanna tell daddy what it is?" Winnie asks Anna who nods as Spike opens the envelope.

"Picture." Anna states as Spike pulls out a handmade card.

"She made it at playgroup for you." Winnie explains as Spike opens the card. 'Anna Marie' had been written haphazardly across one page and on the other was a picture, drawn by Anna of their family. "Are you going to tell daddy whose who?" Winnie asks pointing at the picture and Anna nods.

"Dada, mama, Ben, Maddie, Laya, Mike, Toby, Babycakes, Anna." Anna says pointing to each of the stick figures.

"Wow, that's awesome Anna, well done!" Spike praises his daughter standing the card up on the beside cabinet. "I'll hang that in my locker when I get to work." Anna nods, sleepy once more and snuggles into Winnie before closing her eyes.

"Now me daddy!" Laya says passing Spike the last present. "It's a t-shirt daddy. You have to wear it to work." She explains as Spike opens the present and takes out a t-shirt saying 'I'm the best daddy ever!'

"I'll put it on when I get changed." Spike promises and Laya nods. "Thank you all for my presents, I love them." He says leaning over to kiss each of his children.

"Best dad ever huh Spike?" Ed calls as Spike walks into HQ later that day.

"Yep! My present from Laya." Spike explains as he walks into the locker room with Ed. "You have a good morning?" Ed nods as he opens his locker.

"Clark actually woke up to wish me happy Father's Day before going back to bed and Izzy brought me breakfast in bed."

"Nice." Spike comments as he hangs Anna's picture, as promised, in his locker.

"Who made that for you?" Sam asks as he walks past Spike's locker.

"Anna." Spike replies as he begins to get changed.

"Wow, I didn't know she could write." Ed says looking at the picture.

"Neither did I but it's pretty good, most of the letters are the right way around and everything."

"She's definitely you're daughter Spike." Sam comments and Spike nods and chuckles.

"Yep."

"Did you have a good day?" Winnie asks when Spike arrives home. He nods and begins to toe off his shoes as Ben comes running down the hallway toward him.

"Can we start making the lego? Please?" He asks and Spike laughs.

"Why don't you get it set up?" Spike asks and Ben nods and runs off back down the hallway.

"Any hot calls?" Winnie asks and Spike nods, pulling her into a hug.

"One. We resolved it pretty quickly though."

"That's good." Winnie mumbles into his chest. "You better get going, Ben's been waiting all day for you to get home so that you can start making the mini Babycakes together." She says leaning up to kiss him. Spike nods and kisses her once more before following Ben into the living room.
